Chapter 1: Gravity
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Something always brings
me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do
I'll still feel you here
'till the moment I'm gone

"Piss off, Potter!" I screamed at his face. He was so bloody annoying! Everyday was just a tumult of embarrassment and humiliation - from this guy and his posse. James Potter is always chasing me, Sirius Black is always pulling pranks, Peter Pettigrew is always tagging along and being a total snob, and Remus Lupin is always looking up new spells and potions for them to use in their next prank. Today, they had been unusually quiet, which could only mean one thing. Then again, Sirius, Peter, and Remus were all in the Hospital Wing with concussions.

I found it funny that James was looking at me like I was talking in Chinese. Hmm... I think I'm going to start talking to him in Latin, just to mess with him. What, you didn't know that they offered Latin at Hogwarts?

You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything
so much than to drown
in your love and not
feel your rain.

"What?" James sputtered. We were standing outside. It was midday on April 17, 1976. The sky looked like it was about to open up and a flood would just fall upon us.

"I said, leave me alone! Abi!* I don't want to talk to you! Infact, I would rather that you left -"

He had completely ignored me. Instead, he decided to grab me by the elbows and kiss me. On the lips.

Truthfully, I had liked James Potter. Ok, like is an understatement. I really didn't want to break up James back in November. But he had decided to hurt me - by secretly sneaking around with my archenemy, Malia Tarkington. He claims that she gave him a love potion, but I couldn't believe him.

Set me free.
Leave me be.
I don't wanna fall
another moment into
your gravity.
Here I am and I stand
so tall, just the way
I'm supposed to be.
But you're on to me
and all over me.

He pulled away slowly, savoring the kiss. I had closed my eyes, and I held them closed until he had pulled away. I opened my eyes slowly.

"You really shouldn't have done that," I said softly.

"I wanted to," was his response.

I had a moment of hesitation, I jumped on him, holding him close. And then, we locked lips.

You loved me 'cause
I'm fragile.
When I thought I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone.

The kiss seemed to last forever. I had to finally pull away for air. We just stood there, a five-foot-two girl and her new six-foot-five boyfriend, looking into each others' eyes. Those gorgeous hazel eyes... and my so-called extravagant emeralds. Yeah, I'm not really thankful about my looks. I actually think that I look below average. Every guy in Hogwarts - and Durmstrang, for their school came to our school for a few months this year, would beg to differ. In fact, they've been here since the beginning of the year because of a fire that had burned down their magnificent school. Anyways, James put me on the ground.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you, too," I said. "I have for a very long time now."

Set me free,
Leave me be.
I don't wanna fall another
moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand
so tall, just the way I'm
supposed to be.
But you're on to me
and all over me.

We walked back into the great castle, hand-in-hand, not caring if people stared. A burly Durmstrang boy approached us.

"Lily, you can't be with this stupid neanderthal. You belong to me, remember?"

"Um, excuse me?" We turned at the sound of my best friend, Alice Nikholi storming forward.

"What did you just say about my best friend?"

"She belongs to me," the idiot repeated.

"Lily doesn't belong to anyone, except for me and James, you big git!" She drew her wand and in a second, the kid's face was covered in big, purple pimples that kept growing and exploding when they reached maximum growth and emitting blue pus from the open sores. He screamed in pain. He ran down the hall in terror. We laughed at him as he ran away.

"Today has been an excellent day," I said, squeezing James' hand.

I live here on my knees
as I try to make you see
that you're everything I
think I need here on the ground.
But you're neither friend nor foe
though I can't seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know
is that you're keeping me down.

*Go away/ leave me alone in Latin.

Dear faithful reader,
Please read and review! It really does help! I have a picture of Lily Marie Evans. Lol, you guys are amazing!

Chapter 2: Do You Know?
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Do you know? Do you know?
Do you know what it feels like
loving someone who's in a rush
to throw you away?
Do you know what it feels like
to be the last one to know the lock
on the door has changed?

I ran to the Heads' Dorm, hot tears streaming down my face.

I had found him, snogging her shamelessly. And they were topless. I was looking for him so that we could do our rounds for the night of November 16, 1976. I heard two people making out. Thinking that it was Sirius, I entered, and stopped short.

"Oh," I said, shell-shocked. There was a Brazilian girl on top of my gorgeous boyfriend. The Brazilian's head turned - Malia Turkington. Of course. I started to turn around.

"Lily, wait!" He came running across the room, shirtless.

"No, James," I said. "It's fine. I can see that you love her more than your own girlfriend. Of course you'd pick the elegant race horse over the ugly mule." I left him standing there, a dumbfounded look on his face.

If birds flying south's a
sign of changes,
at least you can predict
this every year.
Love, you never know
the minute it ends.
Suddenly, I can't get
it to speak.

I hid my face into my pillow. There was a rap on the door.

"Go the fuck away!" I screamed.

"Lily, it's me!" I opened up the door to see Alice standing outside my room. I wrapped my arms around her.

"Lily, where's the bastard?" Alice asked, walking over to the fridge in my room, opening, pulling out a pop, and sitting on the windowsill.

"He cheated on me." Alice sprayed the room with soda.

"HE DID WHAT?!?!?!?!?"

"He -"

"Lily," James said, entering the room. I glared at him. Alice shot out of her comfy seat, walked across the room, and slapped him.

"But that's just it! I wasn't thinking!" Alice glared at him. She was going to strike him again.

"Alice," I said, talking for the first time since James had entered the room. "Leave." She gave me a questioning look. I gave her one that said I'll give you a detention if you don't. Alice quickly left the room, slamming the door on James' back.

Maybe if I knew all the
things it took to save us
I could fix the pain that
bleeds inside of me
Look in your eyes to
see the some about me
I'm standing on the edge
and I don't know what else
to give.

We stood there in silence for a long time.

"I'm sorry," he finally said. I glared at him.

"Oh really? That's not what it looked like. Besides," I said. "You should be sorry."

"Lily, I was under a love potion earlier today! Then, just before you came in, it wore off. She didn't realize that the dose had worn off until you left the room."

"Really? A love potion? I find that very likely," I said, rolling my eyes. Why do I have to put up with this bull? I pointed my head towards the floor.

"Lils," he said, approaching me.

"Don't," I said softly, my eyes going blurry. I put my fist on his perfectly formed abs, still free from the confines of his shirt. I looked up, the tears streaking down my face. He had a look of pain on his face.

"Just don't." Then I left the room. Alice had gone back to her dorm, so I went to the Gryffindor Common Room. I whispered the password to Priscilla (the Fat Lady) and entered. Sirius and Remus were in the corner talking about something. Alice was nowhere to be seen.

I went and sat down on the couch. The two young men stopped their conversation and looked at me. Remus must have sensed something was up, because he came over and hugged me. Sirius followed suit.

Do you know
what it feels like
loving someone that's in
a rush to throw you away.
Do you know what it feels like
to be the last one to know
the lock for the door has changed.

"What happened?" Remus asked. I looked at him.

"He cheated on me." Sirius swore and kicked over a table. Remus shook his head and started speaking in fluid Latin. Sirius ran a hand through his hair.

"How do you know?" Sirius asked.

"I found him about a half hour ago snogging that Brazilian." This time, both of the boys swore. They started pacing around the room. Finally, Remus stopped and sat down beside me again.

"Here's what we're gonna do," he started. He began to explain to me how they would shun James, no matter how painful it was, until James and I would become friends again. I thought that the plan was brilliant.

"And I know I'm going to sound gay, but you're going to have to dress differently so that he feels like he made the biggest mistake of his life. I know Alice will probably give you a hair cut, but you'll have to start wearing stripper boots. You know, the boots that go above the knee that have stirlecto heels -"

"Stiletto," I corrected.

"And you'll have to make your self more..."

"Ah. Ok, I'll try. Thanks guys. You're the best." I hugged the two of them as Alice walked in.

I flow through my act
The question is she needed
And decide all the man I can ever be.
Looking at the last 3 years like I did,
I could never see us ending like this.
(Do you know)
Seeing your face no more on my pillow
Is a scene that's never happened to me.
(Do you know)
But after this episode I don't see,
you could never tell the next thing life could be

"Alice," Sirius said, pulling out his wand. "This won't hurt a bit." He silently sent a spell at her. She gasped, then started smiling. I leaned towards Remus.

"She knows the plan now?" He nodded. Alice's smile grew until she was smiling ear to ear. Uh-oh. Alice Nikholi loves makeovers. She took my hand and pulled me up to her dorm. She set to work on me immediately.

I was exhausted from all of the crying. It seemed like she had just started working on me when suddenly she was done with my face and hair. Then she went to her wardrobe and pulled out an outfit - very dark short shorts, a graphic tee that had a bunch of gold and silver hearts on it, and a black mini vest. She threw the outfit at me. I quickly got changed. As soon as I was out of the bathroom, Alice transformed my converse into back, leather stiletto boots. Then she did a final inspection and towed me toward a full body mirror. I looked in it and gasped. The woman in the mirror was absolutely radiant. She wasn't the ugly girl that had been me. No. I had side bangs now, and my makeup was perfect. And the entire ensemble went together beautifully. I turned around and hugged my best friend.

"Thank you! Now we can get back at the bastard." I started toward the door. Alice grabbed a hold of my wrist.

"Oh, no you don't. There's more to the plan."

Do you know what it feels like
love is someone that's in
a rush to throw you away.
Do you know what it feels like
to be the last one to know
the lock for the door has changed.

Alice explained that I was to pretend that I was going out with Sirius. I was pretty much mortified.

"I will do no such thing! I will never -"

"Do you wanna get back at James or not?" I nodded my head. "Then let's go down stairs and have your 'boyfriend' see you." She grabbed my wrist and pulled me up from her bed. We walked out the door and stopped at the top of the stairs. Alice turned around and told me to stay where I was until I had been properly introduced. Then she went to the bottom of the stairs.

"Introducing," she said to the two boys in the room. "The new Lillian Marie Evans!" I started down the stairs slowly, making sure that I didn't trip on the stairs. I looked down the entire descent. When I got to the bottom, I looked up from under my eyelashes and bit my lip. The boys were flabbergasted. I giggled, looking at their faces and walked over to Sirius. He dropped his jaw.

"You're collecting flies, you know." He quickly shut his mouth at the comment.

"Lily," Remus said. "You look..."

"I'll take that as a compliment. Now, I need to get back to my dorm. Goodnight." I strolled out of the portrait hole and through the halls to my Common Room. I entered and found James hunched over in a chair. His head went up when he saw that someone entered the room. He looked at me and his jaw dropped. I gave him a sideways glance and sat down in the love seat opposite him. He was gaping at me. I sat there with my legs crossed. He finally remembered how to close his mouth.

"W-when were you going to tell your boyfriend that you were going to change your style?" He asked. Big mistake.

"Excuse me?" I asked skeptically. "What did you just say?" James looked down.

"I have a feeling that you're mad at me -"

"Damn right!"

"- but you have to understand that she put under a spell. She used a love potion! Lily, I still love you! I'm still your boyfriend!" I glared at him.

"Wrong answer," I said. Then Sirius entered the room and walked over to me.

"Hey, girl," he said, sitting next to me. He put his arm around me to keep me warm. James glared at him.

"Hands off. She's mine."

"I'm no one's territory, Potter. If you think that you can break a girl's heart, then you're in deep shit." I got up and kissed Sirius on the cheek.

"Get out before he gets pissed." Sirius nodded, got up, cupped my face, and then left. I stood there for a second, then went up to my room.

A few weeks later, Sirius and I were still a couple. I had had the last straw.

"Remus, I can't fake date him anymore!" Remus looked shocked. Then his face changed.

"Ok, but when you 'break up' with him, you'll have to make a scene. And you're still gonna have to act like friends after that." I nodded.

And so, that day, Sirius and I dueled over how he wasn't a very good boyfriend. James, who had turned emo and started hanging around with other people, intervened, and sent all three of us to the Hospital Wing.

It was completely silent when we got there. Sirius was the first one to talk.

"Lily," he said. "I'm sorry. Can we be friends?" I pretended to think.

"Of course, Sirius. Let's just be friends."

"Oh, so you'll be friends with him, but not me?" Potter was looking skeptically at me.

"Well, he just didn't act like a boyfriend," I explained. "You, on the other hand, decided to cheat on me." I ignored him for the rest of the time that we were in the Hospital Wing.

Dear Reader,
Thank you for the comments! And I'm going to get a gorgeous banner for my story! Thank you joellatti07! Please r&r! Also, I have a picture of James!

Chapter 3: Reflection
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Look at me
You may think you see
Who I really am
But you'll never know me
Every day
It's as if I play a part
Now I see
If I wear a mask
I can fool the world
But I cannot fool my heart

I walked through the school to the Astronomy Tower. I had finally fallen for James Potter. And he decided to blatantly ignore me for the past few months. And he had seemed to be getting closer to Marzi Pan, a Gryffindor girl who was a fifth year.

And he was the reason that I was up in the Astronomy Tower. I had told myself, about four weeks ago, when I had first discovered that I liked him, that if James never looked at me, I would do this.

And here I am.

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

I knew he would be up there that tonight. December 19, 1975. Christmas Break. I was one of the five students who had stayed behind.

I quietly closed the door leading up to the Astronomy Tower behind me. I began the ascent up the long, ominous steps. At last, I reached the top step and walked through the door.

He was standing there, just looking out over the grounds. It didn't look like he noticed my entrance.

I walked over to the side of the tower where there was a straight drop. I looked down - yes, this five story drop looked good enough. I began to climb onto the ledge. My hair was in a bun. I pulled it out of its restraints, bushy from the ponytail holder, and shut my eyes.

I spread my arms out, getting ready to jump.

"What are you doing?" I smiled.

"What does it look like?" I started to move my feet towards the edge.

I am now
In a world where I
Have to hide my heart
And what I believe in
But somehow
I will show the world
What's inside my heart
And be loved for who I am

"Lily," he said warningly.

"Well," I said. "If you won't even look at me..." I picked up my foot.

"Lily, no!" He wrapped his arms around my waist. I started squirming.

"Let me go!" I squealed. He didn't.

"Why are you doing this?" He was on the verge of tears. I could tell, because his voice was thick with sadness.

"That's not an answer."

"Yes it is!"

"No, it's not, Lils."

"NOBODY LOVES ME!" We both froze. Tears had started to fall from my eyes.

"Wh-what?" He stuttered. I opened my eyes slowly, not looking at him.

"Nobody loves me." He picked me up and carried me bridal style to a secluded corner of the tower.

Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
Why is my reflection
Someone I don't know?
Must I pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

He sat down and put e down on his lap.

"What the bloody hell are you talking about?"

"Nobody - not even you, James - likes me," I said, crying my eyes out. He put two of his fingers under my chin and lifted it up.

"Hey," he said. tears were falling down his face. "Never, ever, say that to my face again. I love you, immensely so."

"Doesn't seem like it." He gave me a confused look. I sighed. "You're always running around with Marzi." He started laughing.

"My cousin?!?!? You're upset because I've been hanging out with my cousin?" I started chuckling.

There's a heart that must be
Free to fly
That burns with a need to know
The reason why

"Wow. I feel stupid for getting jealous over that." James stopped laughing.

"Excuse me? Did those words just come out of your mouth?"

"Yes," I said, sniffling. "I guess they did." I stood up.

"James," I said. "I've wanted to tell you this for a long time now." He stood up, too. I wrapped my arms around his neck, closed my eyes, and slowly leaned in to kiss him. He put his hands on my hips. And I pressed my lips to his.

The world seemed to stop.

Why must we all conceal
What we think, how we feel?
Must there be a secret me
I'm forced to hide?
I won't pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

We kissed for what seemed like forever, our tongues tangoing the entire time. I pulled away for air. We were both breathing heavily. Once I had caught my breath, I said the words that had been troubling me for the past four weeks.

"I love you." He smiled at the words. He looked up, groaned, and looked at me, his eyes shining.

"Oh-ho," he said. "You have no idea how long I've waited to hear those words come from your luscious lips."

And with that, we started our first, beautiful relationship. That is, until he "cheated" on me.

Dearest Reader,
Thank you for the reviews! Please keep reading, writing, and reviewing! I practically live off of your comments! I found a picture of Sirius!

Chapter 4: Take Me Away
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I was waiting all my life to know you
All about you
And now I'm staring in your eyes ocean blue,
I'm all about you
And in our minds it comes so easily
But there's a feeling coming over me
I wanna show you but there's no way we can really be free
Everybody's watching
Wouldn't it be good if we could be together

I waltzed through the Forbidden Forest, spinning in circles of pure joy, on the surprisingly chilly June evening. The sun had been tucked away under the mountains about three hours ago. It was June 14, in fact. And why was I so giddy?

James had asked me to marry him. And I said yes.

I skipped over the bracken that was growing along the bottoms of the trees. I smiled to myself, thinking about how there would be a little Potter running around in these woods in at least 12 years. I sighed, content.

I saw a magnificent stag running past me. It stopped for a second, looked at me, and shook itself. Then it continued running.

Hmm..., I thought. I'm an registered Animagus. Maybe I should transform, so the Centaurs don't kill me.

I quickly morphed into the beautiful doe that I would sometimes run through the forest as.

Take me away
Take me far away from here
I will run with you
Don't be afraid
Navigate and I will steer into the sun
We will Run

The second after I transformed, I saw the stag come prancing back, this time with a black dog and a rat. He looked at me, confused. I shook my head.

Silly stag.

I trotted in between them, huffing a little as they all stared after me.

I was five feet away when I heard the voices.

"She was right here, Sirius! I swear, on my mother fucking uncle's bride to be, she was standing right where the doe had just been standing!"

I turned to see James, Sirius, and Peter al standing where the stag, dog, and rat had been standing.

Wait a minute... their illegal Animagi! Oh, SO not good!

I pranced back to them, tilting my head to the side. They didn't even notice my reappearance. I decided to surprise them. I changed back into my human form.

"When were you going to tell me that you were illegal Animagi, boys?" They jumped at the sound of my voice.

"Lily! Where did you come from?!" James asked startled. I rolled my eyes.

"You're not the only animals at school, you know."

I try to remember when I was just a child
In my roo-oom
And my imagination used to run wild
But I never kne-ew
That nothing's ever as it seems to be
When a dream collides with the reality
It should be easy when two people love eachother truly
Everybody's talking
Wouldn't it be good if they would understand us

"Huh?" The three boys had looks of confusion on their faces.

"Oi vey!" I breathed, smacking my forehead. I then proceeded to turn back into the doe. Realization dawned on James' and Peter's faces. Sirius just jumped ten feet. I turned back.

"THat makes so much sense now," James said. He was smiling. "By the way, your ring leaves a white band around your ankle. It's quite attractive." I blushed deeply. He started tickling me. We fell over.

"James!" I said, attempting to breathe. "S-s-stop! I c-c-can't-t-t b-breathe!" He stopped immediately. After I had caught my breath, he planted a kiss on my forehead. We gazed into each other's eyes. His hazels were filled with such love. I put my hand on his cheek.

"Ahem!" We looked up at Sirius, who was tapping his watch. James sighed, looking resigned. He looked away for a second.

"Go help Remus," I said. They looked at me, stunned.

Take me away
Take me far away from here
I will run with you
Don't be afraid
Navigate and I will steer into the sun
We will Run

"I've known since first year, when Snivelly-" James laughed at the use of the name "- suddenly became obsessed with you guys. I don't know why, but he was just... frequently talking about lycanthropy, and all this bullshit."

"Well, you can join us, if you want," Peter offered. James gave a livid at Peter.

"Never say those words aga- Lily, what do you think you're doing?!" But it was too late. I had already morphed into my doe form. James sighed.

"Lily, change back, now." I shook my head. He took a step towards me. And I bolted. I ran deeper and deeper into the woods. I loved the feeling of wind on my face. I eventually got thirsty. I found a lake to stop and take a drink at. The stag came and stopped beside me. I looked into his gorgeous, hazel eyes. I nuzzled up against him. We kept nuzzling each other. Until we heard growling behind us. We turned to see a gigantic werewolf standing ten feet above our heads.

We will run
Whoa, oh
We will run
Oh, yeah....
Wouldn't it be good if they would understand us
Wouldn't it be good if we could be together
Take me away

Remus... I thought. I started to slowly back away while James started to slowly approach him. He turned his head toward me and motioned for me to leave. I obliged. I backed off into the forest and then bolted as soon as I was out of sight. I ran through the woods, looking for the exit. I ran into centaurs, who didn't recognize me as a human, thankfully. As soon as they were gone, I ran forward. I finally reached the edge of the forest. I changed back into a human and ran until I was in the Heads' Dorms. I plopped down on the couch and called for our personal house elf, Poppy. She was a pregnant elf who would give birth soon.

When Poppy appeared in the room, she was screaming in pain.

"Poppy! The baby is coming! Lie down!" Poppy did exactly as she was told. And within fifteen minutes, I was holding a tiny, male house elf. I had performed the birth flawlessly. I handed the baby over to Poppy.

"Dobby," she said, her breath coming in short gasps. Then, handing the baby back to me, she died, right before my eyes.

Take me away
Take me far away from here
I will run with you
Don't be afraid
Navigate and I will steer to the sun
We will Run
I will run
I will run with you wherever you go
Don't be afraid
Lets run away and I will steer into the sun
We will run

An hour later, James came strolling in. He saw me sitting in the rocking chair for the first time. He walked over to me and saw that I had a bundle in my arms and tears in my eyes.

"Poppy died after giving birth to Dobby." I said, handing James the tiny infant. He looked at it, and looked at me. And then he kissed me on the forehead again.

I conjured up a crib, James placed Dobby in there, and we wound up falling asleep in each others arms on the couch.

Dear Reader,
Please r and r! Hope you liked it!

Chapter 5: Hallelujah
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Well I've heard there was a secret chord
David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya ?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

"Alice Longbottom! Now is not the time to ruin your matron of honour dress!" I was tired of Alice just goofing off and running around the dressing room and jumping off of things. She stopped and pouted at me. I shook my head.

"Lils, you never let me have any fun!" She whined. I rolled my eyes.

"Everyone knows that the matron of honour is supposed to be prettier than the bride. However, everyone looks at the bride because it's her day," I teased. She scoffed.

"Not with you in the room. Not when they see what I've done," she retorted. I blushed. There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," ALice replied, turning toward the door. Remus' disembodied head appeared through the door.

"It's time," was all he said. I smiled.

"Finally!" Alice picked up her flowers and handed me mine. We walked out of the room. Remus was going to give me away, so I linked my arm through his.

"Lily, you look radiant," he said.

Well your fatih was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

"Why, thank you, Rem-" I was interrupted by someone's shouting.

"Lily! Stop! You don't know what you're doing!" I turned around to see Snape in a black cloak approaching. Remus turned around, too. I glared at him.

"What are you doing here?" I hissed. At this point, Alice, Frank, Sirius, and Mary-Beth - Sirius was in a serious relationship with her - had all turned around. Snape stopped and looked at all of the people in the room.

"You can't marry that - that piece of scum!" He sputtered out.

"WHAT DID HE JUST SAY?!?!?" We all turned to see Sirius storming over toward Snape. "WHAT THE HELL DID HE JUST SAY ABOUT MY BEST FRIEND?!?!?" Sirius was only two steps away from Remus, who put out his arm to stop Sirius. Sirius stopped immediately.

"Get out now, Snape," I commanded. I knew that he would get hurt if he didn't leave now. He looked at me, apparently hurt, but then he glared at me.

"Well, I guess a Mudblood deserves a blood traitor," he said, backing out of the room. I turned around, stunned. He hadn't called me that since fifth year. The bad year. The worst year of my life. But I was going to forget that. I pushed it out of my mind.

Oh baby I have been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
You know I used to live alone before I knew you
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Remus turned around and put a comforting hand on my shoulder. I smiled. Everyone looked at me, stunned - I hadn't cried once.

"Let's just put it in the past," I said. They all looked at me, except for Remus, who nodded his head in agreement.

"She's right," he said. A tall, slender man peeked his head through the door.

"Are you ready yet?" He asked, clearly impatient.

"Yes, Mr. Manelle," I responded. He reentered the sanctuary. Everyone got in order. A march started playing as Mary-Beth and Sirius started to walk down the aisle. Alice and Frank went next.

"We're next," Remus said. My smile grew bigger. Remus and I were in plain view of the entire party. The familiar tune of "Here Comes the Bride" started up on the organ and every person sood up. Remus and I took steps to the beat of the music. I couldn't bear being away from James - Alice wouldn't even let him walk by our dressing room door when I was there. And - finally! - I reached him. His beautiful smile made the room even brighter. The priest told the people to sit down.

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

All throughout the ceremony, James and I made contact. The only time that he stopped smiling was after the ceremony, when we spotted Snape in the room again.

"I thought I told you to clear out!" I was mad, really mad.

"And I thought I told you that you couldn't marry him," he snapped back. James looked furious - either at the fact that he had been here before, or what he just said, I had no idea.

"Snape, if you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from them," Sirius snarled. Snape looked unfazed.

"Hey, Black," he said. "Your brother would say hello, but he was too busy to be here. Such a waste, anyways. He was a good kid."

"What are you talking about? What do you mean by 'was'?"

"You didn't know that your own brother was buried right behind this pathetic little church, his skin rotting away?" Sirius' face paled; Snape's smile widened. Then, Sirius went up to Snape and punched his face. Hard. Blood was running down Snape's clothes as he ran out of the room. And everything was ok again.

Well maybe there is a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
And it's not a cry you that hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelu
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

two hours later

"So," James asked as we twirled around the dance floor. "What is it like being the newest Potter?" I smiled and leaned my head agaist his chest.

"No words can describe this magnificent feeling." He chuckled and kissed the top of my head.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you, too," I said, pulling my head up. I placed a gentle kiss on his lips. Our audience cheered. I was finally happy.

Chapter 6: I Believe in a Thing Called Love
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I have skipped the part where Lily tells James that she is pregnant because it is in Telling Him. Please don't get mad at me!

Can't explain all the feelings
that you're making me feel
My heart's in overdrive and
you're behind the steering wheel
Touching you, touching me
touching you, god you're touching me

I grasped the couch firmly, trying not to cry out from the pain that was occurring. James was at his job at the Ministry (he had become Deputy Head Auror just two weeks ago), so Sirius was keeping me company and making sure that I didn't give birth early. I was headed toward the kitchen when the pain started getting consistently worse.

"Oi! Potter!" As my warden liked to call me. "I need your help... is there something wrong?" I nodded my head. sirius walked over to me and supported me as the pain started to subside. I sighed in relief.

"Get... James," I said, a little out of breath. Sirius nodded and immediately Flooed to the Ministry. The pain was gone - for now. It took Sirius about ten minutes to finally return with James - just as another spasm of pain shot through me, much more painful than the last one. I couldn't contain the pain anymore - I screamed. James rushed to my side.

"I... think... he's... coming," I said, gasping in between each word.

"Who, Voldemort?"

"No," I whispered. "The baby."

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love

James just stared at my face.

"What? Are you sure?" I glared at Sirius.

"Would I be in this much pain if he was kicking?!?!?" I said sarcastically. I turned to James. "Go get the bag," I said as calmly as I could. He obliged. Within a matter of seconds, James and I were standing in the fireplace, getting ready to use the Floo network.

"Sirius," James said. His friend looked at him solemnly. "Owl Albus." He nodded and ran off to write to Dumbledore. Then there were green flames and we were standing in the entrance to the maternity ward at St. Mungo's. Alice and Frank were standing in front of us, Alice clearly having a horrible contraction. Frank looked at us and smiled wearily. We walked over to them, James forcing me into a nearby chair. I groaned as another contraction came and passed. Suddenly, green flames lit up the room and Sirius walked out, closely followed by Albus Percival Wolfric Bryan Dumbledore. HE quickly walked over to where we were sitting and called a nurse over. The nametag on her nurse's outfit read "Shelby." She looked at James and gave him a flirty smile.

"Can I help you, sir?" She said to James. I glared at her before answering.

"My husband and I need to have a Healer immediately." Shelby's face looked priceless when she heard the first part.

"Right away, ma'am," she said nastily, before winking at James and leaving. I looked up at James, who was glaring after her.

"I don't flirt with others, now that I'm married," he explained, not even looking down at me.

I wanna kiss you every minute,
every hour, every day
You got me in a spin
but everythin' is A.OK!
Touching you, touching me
touching you, god you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh! Guitar!

About an hour later, I was pacing around the emergency room, waiting for the dilation process to finish. There was a knock on the door just as another contraction hit. I hissed through my teeth and said, "Intrate."*

Dumbledore and Healer John Henry entered the room. Healer Henry spoke first.

"Well, it's about time, Mrs. Potter." I sighed in relief (again) as the contraction ended.

"Finally!" I muttered under my breath. That was when I noticed that James wasn't there.

"Where is James?!" I asked, afraid that I might have to go through this alone. The Healer was leading toward the bed. I struggled to loosen my grip.

"I need James!" I said.

"But you need to lie down!"

"I can't do this without James!"

"Mrs. Potter, your husband is not in here, but I assure you, he will be back as soon as possible. For right now, I need you to get on the bed and we need to start push-"

"I REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING WITHOUT MY-" I didn't get to finish the sentence. James had opened the door, and looked furious.

"Henry! Let go of my wife! I'm the one she wants." Henry's firm grasp was soon replaced with James' soft, warm, and calloused hand. I quickly climbed onto the bed, but had to stop as another contraction hit. I screamed again, the pain more than I could bear. Dumbledore came over to the other side of the table and grabbed my hand. I looked at him and he smiled at me.

"Ok Lily. Push!" I did as the Healer said, and screamed as the pain worsened by at least one hundred percent. I cried out in pain. James' grip tightened; he was in pain, too, because I was hurting so badly.

Touching you, touching me
touching you, god you're touching me
I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love

A half an hour later, I was holding a tiny, baby boy with raven black hair. I had finally gotten him to stop crying. He was just breathing now, his eyes still closed. He yawned.

"Aw," I said. James chuckled and kissed the top of my forehead. I smiled. The tiny creature in my hands started opening his eyes - they were emerald green, just like mine.

"Hey, baby," I cooed. "I'm Lily. I'm your mommy. And this big goofy looking guy is your daddy. And that weird looking guy standing in the corner? That's Uncle Sirius. And The other guy is your Uncle Remus. You'll meet Uncle Peter later. And the man with the silver beard is Professor Dumbledore. He will be your teacher when you are eleven!"

The little boy just looked up at me and James.

"He needs a name." I looked up at James, contemplating a few names.

"Harry James Potter?" James and I said at the same time. We laughed.

"Great minds think alike," James said in a husky voice. I looked back at Harry.

"Welcome to the world, Harry James Potter."

Chapter 7: Already Gone
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Remember all the things we wanted
Now all our memories, they're haunted
We were always meant to say goodbye
Even without fists held high, yeah
Never would have worked out right, yeah
We were never meant for do or die
I didn't want us to burn out
I didn't come here to hurt you now
I can't stop

"Argh!" I yelled, frustrated. Harry wasn't being very cooperative with his Halloween costume. It was October 31, 1981. I was supposed to take Harry out trick-or-treating, but at this point, it was totally pointless. I changed Harry into his pajamas and waited for James to get home on the couch.

About two hours later, James walked through the front door, followed by Sirius and Remus. They all had grim looks on their faces.

"What is it?" I asked, looking at their expressions. James spoke first.

"He's coming."

I want you to know
That it doesn't matter
Where we take this road
Someone's gotta go
And I want you to know
You couldn't have loved me better
But I want you to move on
So I'm already gone

"Voldemort is coming," Remus said. "Pettigrew told him."

I was shocked - not because it was Peter that had told Voldemort, but because Remus had called one of his closest friends by his surname.

"What are we going to do?"

"Siruis and I will be guarding your house. We will try to fend him off as best as we can, but you two will need to be armed. Just as a precaution."

"How did you acquire this information?"

"We may have, uh,... poured some Veratiserum into Snape's glass when he wasn't looking," Sirius said sheepishly.

"Figures," I said.

Looking at you makes it harder
But I know that you'll find another
That doesn't always make you wanna cry
Started with a perfect kiss
Then we could feel the poison set in
Perfect couldn't keep this love alive
You know that I love you so
I love you enough to let you go

After about an hour of discussion, Remus and Sirius went outside to protect us. Once they were outside, James came over and gave me a huge hug.

"No matter what happens," he said, his voice shaking as the tears began to form. "I will still love you."

"I will always love you," I said back as tears streaked down my face. Harry whimpered in my arms.

We shifted throughout the house - either standing or sitting in the family room, we were always together.

Suddenly, green and red flashes started coming from outside. We looked through the curtain blocking our house to see not only Sirius and Remus locked in a duel, but also Dumbledore was quickly sending spells at the vile man standing before them.

"I'm going to go help," James said, reaching for his wand.

But the fight was finished - Dumbledore had his wand pointed at the motionless, limp form that was Voldemort.

I want you to know
That it doesn't matter
Where we take this road
Someone's gotta go
And I want you to know
You couldn't have loved me better
But I want you to move on
So I'm already gone
I'm already gone
I'm already gone
You can't make it feel right
When you know that it's wrong
I'm already gone
Already gone
There's no moving on
So I'm already gone

Sixteen Years Later...

"Happy Birthday, Harry!" I exclaimed, rushing into my son's room with my special 'Birthday Breakfast' on tray. James followed closely behind.

"GAH!" Harry fell out of bed, startled by the sudden noise. "Mom! Merlin's Beard, you scared me!" I shrugged, smiling at my of age son.

"Be thankful, young man," I said. "After you graduate, I'm kicking you out to move in with Ginny."

"What?!" We turned around to see our fourteen year old and ten year old daughters standing in the doorway behind us.

"He's moving out?!" Alex and Mable shouted at the same time. Alex was excited, whereas Mable wasn't.

"Yes, because he needs to grow up and get start giving me grandchildren."

"MOM!" All three of my kids shouted at the same time. I laughed.

After a few hours of family time, Ginny, Hermione, and Ron all came over to our house.

"Ah," I said. "There's the young woman that is going to give me grandchildren." I hadn't said it loud enough for her to hear, but Alex and Harry heard me.

"Mother! Not again!" James and I laughed our heads off. It was at that point when Sirius walked in, followed by Remus and Tonks.

"Harry! Happy Birthday!" Tonks yelled, wrapping her arms around Harry. He chuckled (Oh, Merlin, he sounds like James when he does that!), hugging her back.

"Hi, Auntie Tonks. Hey, Uncle Remus and Uncle Sirius. Wanna go play Quidditch?"

The boys went out back to play Quidditch. The teams were Harry, Ron, and Ginny and James, Sirius, and Remus. James' team won, 340-150.

Already gone
Already gone
Already gone, oooo, oh
Already gone
Already gone
Already gone, yeah
Remember all the things we wanted
Now all our memories, they're haunted
We were always meant to say goodbye

James came ad scooped me up onto his broom.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you, too," I said. And I kissed him on the lips.

"EW! GROSS! MOM! DAD! STOP!" My kids shouted. We broke apart and laughed.
