This is a collection of one shots based off of songs sung by Michael Buble. That is not to say that they are originally done by him. I just happened to like his renditions of some of them.

These are all love stories starting with Lily and James Potter.....and ending somewhere in the next generation time. If there's any couples you'd like to see just let me know.

Now, come fly with me into the love stories of some of our favorite HP characters! Because no matter the generation, they're all mad for their ladies! ^_^

Rated Mature just in case!

Chapter 1: Call Me Irresponsible
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Call me irresponsible
Call me unreliable
Throw in undependable, too

James Potter. Just hearing the name irked Lily. The man was insufferable. She could hardly call him a man yet anyway! He was far too immature. Some part of her poked and prodded, reminding that even her own father had been rather immature up until he died. But that wasn’t the point! Potter was a prat!

He was irresponsible, ridiculous, impractical and unreliable! This patrol only proved it! He was supposed to be patrolling the grounds with Lily, as her fellow Head. Was he? No! Lily was all alone as she walked the dark grounds making sure no students were out this late at night. Alone in the dark in a place where any magical animal could attack at any moment! And she was all alone because James Potter was unreliable!

Do my foolish alibis bore you?
Well, I’m not too clever, I
I just adore you
“Evans! Hey Lily! Wait up!”

Lily halted. She had just left the castle so she was too far from the doors. She turned around as James ran up to her. He stopped before her with a frown on his face and ran a hand through his hair.

“Why’d you start without me?” he asked, sounding surprisingly hurt.

“You were late,” Lily stated, her arms crossing her chest.

“Barely!” James exclaimed. “It’s only five after! You can hardly blame me, considering that paper Slughorn wanted us to do by tomorrow. I haven’t even gotten halfway through it yet and I started at ten when I finished all my other homework!”

So he hadn’t been fooling around. He’d been doing homework. And he’d only been five minutes late….so what? He was still irresponsible!

So, call me unpredictable
Tell me I’m impractical
Rainbows, I’m inclined to pursue

The following day after classes Lily had fallen asleep on the sofa. She woke to a hand on her cheek and a soothing voice said comforting things. Apparently she’d had a bad dream. Then warm lips landed on her forehead just before the weight next to her on the sofa disappeared. She opened her eyes a bit to see James walking out from in between coffee table and sofa. Well that was certainly unexpected. Later she’d gone outside to read, only to find James bothering Snape down by the lake. Then he pushed the poor boy into the water!

Call me irresponsible
Yes, I'm unreliable
But it's undeniably true
That I'm irresponsibly mad for you

“Hey Evans,” James broke the silence of their patrol on another night. They’d gotten stuck patrolling the grounds again. James wasn’t late this time.

“What Potter?” Lily asked softly. She had really hoped they could forgo talking the entire two hours. He, apparently had other ideas.

“Go on a date with me?” he asked hopefully.

“No!” Lily rounded on him. “Why can’t you get that through your thick head! My answer won’t change!”

“Why not?” James asked rather dejectedly.

“It just wont, all right?” she snapped at him. “I think we should separate now. You go patrol over by the forest. I’ll stay over here.”

That said she turned and continued on in the direction they’d originally been going in, leaving a dejected James to slow turn and head off alone to do as Lily directed.

Do my foolish alibis bore you?
Girl, I'm not too clever, I
I just adore you

“Why can’t he just accept that I wont ever go out with him?” she asked Remus the next day at lunch.

“Because he really does like you,” Remus stated. “Just give him a chance. One date won’t kill you, will it?”

“You have no idea!”

Just then the bane of her existence walked into the great hall. He strode over and sat right next to her. Placing her elbows on the table she then placed her head in her hands so that they were cradling her forehead.

“Hey Lily?” James asked. Well that was different. Usually it was Evans.

“What?” Lily replied, not moving her head at all to look at him.

“Go out with me?” a pregnant moment passed. Then, “Please?”

“Fine,” Lily sighed.

“Why-what?” James stared at her with wide eyes.

“I said yes, all right?” she sat up and glared at him. “But get this through your thick scull. It’s only one date. Nothing more. Then you are to leave me alone and never ask me out again.”

“But only if you don’t have fun?” James prompted meekly.

“Right,” Lily nodded. What was she getting herself into? But of course she wouldn’t have fun! This was James Potter she was talking about!

Call me unpredictable
Tell me that I'm so impractical
Rainbows, I'm inclined to pursue

The following Hogsmeade week James waited in front of the Three Broomsticks, their designated waiting place. He held a white rose in one hand and kept gripping and ungripping the bottom of his jacket out of nervousness. Lily had actually said yes to him. He wasn’t going to blow it! He looked handsome in his jeans, black t-shirt and blazer. Unfortunately he couldn’t get his hair to sit straight, so that was messy as usually. His breath caught when he saw Lily walking toward him. Her hair was up in a messy bun, strands hanging down around her face. She wore a cut strapless white sundress with a yellow ribbon tied under the bust and yellow flip-flops. She was certainly a vision.

“Hey Lily!” James waved, a big goofy smile on his face. He didn’t know what else to say.

“Hi,” she smiled shyly. Lily never smiled shyly at him!

“You look really good,” he said lamely. She blushed. His hand shot up and showed her the flower. “Um, I bought you this rose. I thought you’d like it.”

“Oh James!” Lily gasped. “It’s beautiful! How did you know white roses were my favorite?”

“Uh, I asked Remus,” he replied quickly. It really was just a lucky guess, as it had been a last minute idea. “I figured he’d know what you’d like.”

“Well thank you,” Lily smiled.

In rather high spirits James led Lily into the pub where they ate lunch. He paid and then they went window-shopping. He was truly surprised with how this was turning out. Lily was truly having fun with him. She was laughing and joking with him, and more importantly, not getting mad and yelling. She was even opening up to him a bit. He couldn’t have asked for a better date. When it was getting late James treated her to dinner and they walked back up to the castle arm and arm, far closer then he could have ever hoped for. He walked her up to her room and stood at her door with her. She had turned to face him and held both of his hands. She was smiling at him, the flower he had given her in her hair.

“Thank you for a wonderful day, James,” she said softly. “Thank you for asking me again.”

“Did you have fun?” he asked hesitantly.

“More fun then I had expected,” she grinned at him. “Again, thank you.”

That said she stepped into him and stretched up on her toes to kiss his cheek. She stepped away, released his hands and turned to go into her room. She watched him as she closed the door.

“Goodnight,” she said just before the door shut.

More then elated, James turned and went into his own room. He shut the door, turned and then pumped his fist into the air and whooped. He’d done it! He just knew it! Lily was his for good! He flopped onto his bed, hands behind his head and grinned up at the ceiling. He was gonna marry that girl!

Go ahead call me irresponsible
Yes, I'm unreliable
But it's undeniably true
I'm irresponsibly mad for you

Years later Lily stood looking into the crib where her son lay sleeping. He was so handsome. Looked just like his father. She jumped when two strong hands landed on her shoulders. She turned her head and welcomed the kiss she was offered and smiled up at her husband.

“How’s he doing?” James whispered.

“Look for yourself,” Lily suppressed a giggle. “He’s sleeping.”

“Let’s go to bed,” he took her hand and began dragging her from the room. She didn’t object. Later she lay satisfied in his arms He kissed the top of her head.

“I love you James,” Lily whispered.

“I love you too Lil’s,” James smiled. And he couldn’t possibly tell her in words how much that love was.

You know it's true
Oh, baby it's true

Chapter 2: It Had to Be You
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

It Had to Be You

It had to be you, it had to be you;
I wandered around, and finally found - the somebody who
Could make me be true, could make me be blue;
And even be glad, just to be sad, thinking of you.

Molly Weasley woke up bright and early to the sounds of screaming children. Nothing unusual there. With Seven children things were bound to be loud. Something would be terribly wrong if she ever woke up to a quiet house Two of them would be going back to Hogwarts soon. The other five were still a bit too young, considering the youngest two were still in diapers. She rolled over to find her husband missing. She frowned, but it was quickly whipped away as the bedroom door flew open.

“Mummy!” Percy screamed. “Fred and George wont leave me alone!”

‘Well you are an easy target’, Molly thought as she got out of bed and grabbed her robe. She smiled sweetly at her son as she walked to him.

“What are they up to now my sweet?” she asked, kneeling down so she was more level with him.

“They stole Charlie’s wand and keep trying to use it on me!” Percy exclaimed, eyes tearing up.

“For heavens sake!” Molly quickly stood and went to the boys’ room. Sure enough the twins were sitting on one bed examining the wand. Molly snuck up behind them and swiped the wand from them.

“Hey!” they exclaimed and turned in unison. Their eyes widened to see their mother.

“You can’t have this,” Molly stated. “You’re too young!”

That said she turned and walked out of the room to grumbles from the two boys. She found Charlie looking through the cupboards in the kitchen. Her second oldest son, already as tall as her at 11. He turned at her approaching footsteps and leapt up seeing his wand in her hands.

“My wand!” He exclaimed. “Where’d you find it?”

“Fred and George,” she said simply, and that explained it all. “Have you eaten yet? Where’s your father?”

“I ate cereal,” he stated. “Dad went out with Bill, Ron and Ginny.”

“Do you know where they went?” Molly asked, turning to glance at the clock. It said that those for were out, just as Charlie said.

“Dad wouldn’t say,” Charlie shrugged. “But he said he’d take the babies out so you wouldn’t have to worry about them today.”

“How thoughtful,” Molly smiled as she went about her daily morning routine.

Some others I've seen, might never be mean;
Might never be cross, or try to be boss,
But they wouldn't do.
For nobody else, gave me a thrill - with all your faults, I love you still.
It had to be you, wonderful you;
It had to be you.

“Did I ever tell you about your mum and I?” Arthur asked his eldest son as they walked through Diagon Alley.

“Nah,” Bill shook his head. The thirteen year old grimaced. “I don’t think I want to know.”

“Sure you do,” Arthur smiled, hoisting Ginny higher in his arms. “I was rather popular in Gryffindor, you know.”

“Really?” Bill smiled, dragging Ron along with him.

“Yup,” Arthur smiled proudly. “I could have had any girl I wanted.”

“But you chose mum,” Bill glared back at his brother as the three year old was lagging behind.

“That’s right,” the older man nodded. “I was dating the most popular girl in my year and house. Your mom was her best friend.” He paused, but after a moment he continued on with, “You know, I’ve only cheated on a girl once.”

“It wasn’t mum though, right?” Bill looked concerned as they stopped outside a shop.

“ ‘Course not,” Arthur grinned. “I cheated with your mum, the day before we left Hogwarts. Her friend was furious. Your mum didn’t know what to do. I suppose you could say I seduced her.”

“That’s gross dad,” Bill grimaced.

“We got married a few years after Hogwarts and started a family.”

“A never ending family,” Bill chuckled. “I hope Ginny’s the last. I can’t handle anymore siblings.”

“Today’s our anniversary,” Arthur smiled wistfully as he opened the door to the shop they’d stopped in front of.

“Are you gonna get mum anything?” Bill looked up at his father as they entered the store.

“Look where we are son,” Arthur murmured.

“A jewelry shop?” Bill asked, perplexed.

“Indeed,” Arthur set Ginny on the ground. “Been saving up for this present for years!”

“No doubt you would be, Weasley,” drawled someone from behind.

“It’s Malfoy, dad,” Bill said darkly.

“Just ignore him, son,” Arthur stated, in no mood to deal with the man. “Let’s just get what we need and go.”

And they did. They left as soon as the item was pocketed and went to make reservations for dinner before going back to the house. Molly was cleaning the family room. Arthur smiled, snuck up behind her, and kissed her cheek. He got the desired reaction, and laughed when she spun about and hit him.

“I hope you haven’t been cleaning all day,” Arthur smiled as he kissed her again.

“Of course I have!” Molly exclaimed. “What else would I be doing?”

“I had hoped relaxing but I guess I shouldn’t get my hopes to high.”

“Definitely not,” Molly turned back around. “Where are the children?”

“Bill’s got Ginny and Ron outside with Charlie,” Arthur stated. “I’ve know idea where the other three are.”

“Fred and George are napping and Percy is reading,” Molly stated as she moved to the window.

“Well the baby sitter will be here in an hour, so I suggest you go get ready,” Arthur turned to head for the stairs.

“Baby sitter?” Molly turned, brows furrowed. “Whatever for? Who?”

“Remus Lupin is going to watch them,” Arthur stated. “He could use the company. And because we’re going out.”

“We are?” Molly looked totally confused.

“Yes,” Arthur smiled at her. “Now come along and get ready.”

Rather reluctantly Molly followed after Arthur. Molly finished getting herself ready just as the doorbell rang. She heard Arthur and Remus talking downstairs. She finished up and hurried downstairs to greet Remus. She hardly got a few words in before Arthur ushered her out the door where she side apparated with him to the restaurant. It was most likely one of the most expensive places they’d ever been to, but Arthur kept waving her comments away.

They ate one of the most wonderful meals ever and even enjoyed a bit of dancing. They shared a good-sized slice of chocolate cake for desert. Arthur scooted his chair closer, and much to Molly’s surprise he fed her. The entire time she wondered what all of this was for.

“Mollywobbles,” Arthur smiled at her, knocking her from her reverie. “You’re an amazing woman, an even more amazing mother. I couldn’t ever have found a better wife even if I looked my entire life. You do so much and don’t get half the credit you deserve. You have no idea how glad I am that I chose you. I love you Molly. Happy Anniversary!”

Arthur opened the box that he had smoothly slipped from his pocket without her seeing. Inside was a beautiful opal necklace. It was on a simple white gold chain. The pendant was slightly heart shaped with a good-sized opal in the center, accented by small diamonds all around it. It was the most beautiful thing Molly had ever seen.

“Arthur!” she whispered, eyes teary. “Oh Arthur! It’s beautiful. You didn’t have to! I completely forgot! Oh-“

Arthur shut her up by kissing her. He smiled as he pulled away, cupping her face with one hand.

“I know I didn’t have to,” he said softly. “And it hardly matters that you forgot. What matters is your happiness and our love. I want you to be happy and I wont you to know that I’m happy, and it’s all because of you, the wonderful mother of my children. My wife. I couldn’t possibly settle for another woman.”

“Oh Arthur,” Molly cried as he put the necklace on her. “It’s beautiful. Thank you. I love you.”

“I love you too Mollywobbles,” Arthur smiled and hugged her to him. “I love you so much. It had to be you. No one else. Just, you.”
