Hermione carefully clutched the worn spine of the aged book and pulled it away from the shelf’s wooden base. Written faintly on the front cover of the book was the title, Famous Quotes of Love. She did not need the book for any apparent reason; she just wanted to read something that she had never heard of before. She flung herself willing down into the nearest chair, and, with great gentleness, opened the old book to a random page. She froze, reading the first passage carefully to herself.

For many years it has been said that the words “As you wish” are among the most often used words when someone is in love. Mainly used by the male gender, the words are normally used to say, “I love you.” Most commonly used in the olden days, these words are rarely spoken today, but still have the one of the same meanings.

Hermione couldn’t believe it. It could not be true; it just could not be. Sure, Draco Malfoy had spoken those words to her every time they came within one-hundred feet of each other’s presence, but he was just insulting her. That is all it ever was. He probably had not even the slightest idea as to what those words meant years and years previously. Well, what they supposedly meant anyway.

But no matter how much Hermione told herself that Malfoy was not in love with her, she could not help but wonder if he really, truly was. Malfoy was taught everything from the olden days by his cruel father, who indeed knew everything about the long aged past. He was taught to be polite, to have manners, but to be rude to those who were rude to him. He must know what those words meant. Hermione could not help but fall into deep thought and remember all of the times Malfoy had slipped those words to her. Each and every time.

There were times when they were in class, and others when they just met in the corridor unexpectedly. There were times that she was in the library and times when they were on the grounds. Times while in the Great Hall, chowing down on one of their daily meals, and even times when the two had to patrol together. And each and every time, he had said those very words to her.

She tossed the broken book on the vanilla colored counter and ran out of the almost deserted library. She knew what she had to do now. She had to do it. But where was he?

She stopped walking for a moment and thought hard to herself. It is a Saturday; there are absolutely no classes today, and it is not a Hogsmade weekend either. The weather is nice today, so more than likely he is not in our shared common room. He is probably outside on such a lovely day.

Hermione quickly made her way down four levels of stairs, through the large Entrance Hall,  to the destined outside. And finally onto the marble stairwell. After a minute or so of looking, she saw him. She saw the handsome, blond haired, gray-eyed Slytherin, sprawled out against a large oak tree.

She walked toward him, determination in her dark brown orbs.

"Malfoy?" Hermione questioned abruptly.

"What do you want, Mudblood? I am not in the mood to listen to you rat on about something foolish that I have done in my life."

"I'm not here to rat about anything! I need to talk to you about something."

"Well, then do it some other time. I am busy thinking at the moment. There is a lot going on in my life right now. Things that you would not even understand."

"As you wish," Hermione replied barely above a whisper.

The second the words left her mouth, Malfoy's cool eyes jerked up. He looked intently at Hermione, and Hermione knew then that he knew.
