Chapter 1: Tacit Desires

Glances were exchanged between them as they sat at opposite end of the bar. No words were uttered, mouthed or even tried to be passed over in some form of sign language. They understood each other perfectly by the glint in their eye or by the positioning of first one leg, then the restless other. There was something shared between them that no one could touch or even hope to place and it went unnoticed by all. Most of all her fiance.

Her gaze shifted to him as she sat amidst a crowd of old friends. That had been their original intention of coming here tonight, after all. To catch up with ones they thought they'd never see again and have a grand old time. The grand part of that was to come later tonight, though without the black-haired boy winking at her behind his glasses. His hair was disheveled as ever yet he was so alive it almost made her ache with the fact that it wasn't him who she desired most. Who she desired most was....

Again, she looked away, down into the bottom of her martini glass which was almost empty. She'd had many that night and although that was the case, nothing of which she was thinking could be attributed to that. It was all her own lust, passion, desire....Whatever you wanted to call it. It was her own. All hers and not alcohol induced.

Yet the way he looked at her so casually sent a shiver she couldn't shake up and down her spine...

Finally unable to stand it much longer, she stood. The scooting of her chair wasn't heard past the blaring music that surrounded everyone as she wound her way through the crowd to the back of the entire building towards the bathroom. At least then she'd have an escape from his sight, from the roving emotions in her body....Or so she'd liked to think.

A gentle touch on her arm told her she was not alone and under any circumstances was to think she was. She couldn't meet his gaze, oh yes she knew who it was, and instead fumbled at the clasp of her handbag. She was only a few steps away from the bathroom door, to freedom from what she was feeling that was so wrong. If she just took those few steps, she'd be 'safe'...

Though who was to say he wouldn't follow her? He never backed down from a challenge before; how could this case be any different? It wouldn't be, and any other woman in the bathroom would just give him a glance before returning to powdering their noses, pretending not to hear any ensuing sounds of pleasure that came from a stall.

A shiver ran down her spine at that very thought.

The touch was followed by a slight tug and she found herself pressed against his warm body. It was so comforting that she simply wanted to stay right like that and have her deepest wish remain unknown to him. Unfortunately, it was already known. Too known to be ignored.

An arm came around her back and led her away from the bathroom door, away from any chance of safety. She shouldn't let him do this, couldn't let him do this, really, but her befuddled mind did nothing and allowed him to lead her away to a darker corner.

Soft touches were exchanged in sensitive places as soft noises escapes their mouths. Both were growing warm under their clothing from the heat of the place itself, but also because of each other. His shirt was already undone three buttons more than he'd ever allow usually, and her shirt was slightly hiked up at her waist.

She met his eyes and he nodded, an arm wrapping around her back once more as he led them from the building through a back door. Not a soul noticed them, not even the pair of startling green eyes that was peering around for his fiance.

Pushing her gently up against the wall, one of his hands went to explore her as another went behind to open the door. Following her through, hands were roving each body once more. She gave a slight gasp as a hand was replaced with lips on her hip; she was shivering and ready, what more did he want?

Ah, but of course. The ways of lust worked mysteriously on most and he couldn't be any exception. He wanted what she wanted; to be satisfied and simply move back to their lives and forget this moment happened. Though before the night was over, one of them could never forget...

Garment were slid off and kisses exchanged as the fire flared. Gently, they moved together, sharing what they couldn't with those they claimed they loved. Sounds of ecstasy were uttered as hands held onto each other as though fearing they may lose them should they release their hold in any way, shape or form.

Before the fire flared to full potential, he slowed, picking her up gently and retreating to a bedroom nearby. There they continued, the bedframe echoing their movements of love that isn't quite love.

He kissed her body tenderly, picking back up now. Soon enough, the fire shot up and then died down to the ashes as both got what they wanted. They held each other close as a storm raged outside, rain sloshing against the windows. The sheets came down on them slowly and both were soon asleep.

Though one wasn't quite as asleep as the other.

He sat up on his elbows, looking down at her and stroking her fiery hair. Sighing gently, he took his wand from the nightstand. Kissing her neck and forehead gently, a flash of green went and his eyes filled with sadness.

"Goodnight, Ginny, my love," he said softly, "I'm sorry."
