Without implications love is not love. Disagreements cannot break a true relationship only create passion; kisses without meaning are shallow, but with passion they flourish and burn. Breaks are not forever and they do not mean unity is no existent; in the end, they bring people together rather then apart. Love is not love without implications. If you don't like Sirius/Lily please don't read and flame me for it!

Chapter 1: Little Lily
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N: Hope you like, I know I don't usually write like this but I thought it went better with a fic like this ;)

IMPORTANT!: Please, if you don't like Sirius/Lily romance and are going to just flame me then don't read. Simple as that. I'm not a fan of Sirius/Lily myself I just like challenging myself to write different things. I'm truly a L/J shipper! =)

“Evans!” A male voice called out, surprisingly not that of James Potters. However the fiery red head quickened her pace when he called out again; “Wait up! Slow down! Stop!” the male grunted, “How many different versions of ‘stop’ would you like me to list off before you will?”

“I won’t stop for you.” She yelled back, but stopped despite her words. He didn’t answer her until he was standing right behind her.

“Oh?” he asked. She didn’t answer and he went on, “Who would you stop for then, my little Lily?”

“Doubtful. You stopped for me.”

“If I hadn’t will you have continued pestering me until I had?”

“Point well taken, kid.”

“What do you want Black?”

“I need a favour…”

“If it involves me dating James again, good luck with that. No way will I date that git.”

“Don’t say that.”

“I just did.”

“James is not a git. If there is anyone at this moment acting a git, it’s you.”

“Really, and why would that be oh wise and wonderful one?”

Sirius sighed, this was going to be harder then he thought.

“It’s because your angry with me isn’t it my little Lily?”

“No, it’s not. It’s because you never explained; you never let me know why we couldn’t be when I loved you – love you – so much! I thought you loved me as well!”

He led her into a secret passageway so they wouldn’t be overheard; it wasn’t something he wanted posted all over the school. James would kill him despite what he had done the night before, specifically break up with his Lily…

As soon as they slipped behind the tapestry and into the tunnel she turned and clung to him, arching her neck, greedy for the taste of his lips.

“No,” he pushed her off of him, “We can’t do this Lily.”

“This. Us.”

“Don’t’ you love me? Aren’t I your little Lily anymore?”

“You will always be my little Lily and I will always love you, no matter what. But James is my best friend and I can’t do this to him. He loves you far too much, and trusts me even more.”

“So what? Don’t I matter? Don’t my feelings matter? Don’t you matter? Don’t your feelings matter ”

“You don’t understand.”

“Enlighten me.”

“James has been with me since my family disowned me, he took me in even though I’m a Black and he’s a Potter. There’s something there you’d never understand. You have to know me, you have to know James.”

“You’re saying that after almost six months I don’t know you? After one month with James I don't know him?”

“No, I’m saying that you don’t know James enough because you never tried. Without knowing James you don’t know all of me because I’m part of him. He’s part of me.”

“I won’t let you leave me like this. I’ll fight and scream and kick.”

“I’ll fight and scream and kick back my little vivacious Lily.”

She glowered.

“Why won’t you give him a chance? An hour for you both to talk and learn about each other, so at least he’d know that you turn him down after at least speaking with him.”

“I’d sooner snog a Malfoy.”

“That’s low, kid.”

“At least he admits he’s arrogant and obnoxious. He’s not a liar.”

“Whoa, starting revelation: A Malfoy’s not a liar?”

“You know what I mean. He’s not a liar in that respect.”

“He’s dying inside.”

“Who? Lucius?”

“Yes Lily, he’s harbouring an intense passion for you.” He paused to roll his eyes, “I meant James.”

“I’m sure.”

“Give him another chance... for me Lily.”

“Maybe we could learn to love again, Sirius.” She moved closer to him and put her hands on his chest. “Together.”

He took her hands in his and removed them from their spot on his chest but still held them clasped firmly in his hands, “I can hardly fight it, Lily, but I have to. I can’t go on and see my best friend suffer and wonder why you won’t be.. close to him. When you two are together everyone can tell it just seems... wrong. Like you don't want to be there when you should want to. You should see him when he’s thinking of you! His eyes glaze over and it’s like none in the world exist but you.”

“But love is worth fighting for!” Tears stung Lily’s eyes as she said this. “Especially a love like ours!” Sirius dropped her hands.

“You don’t know the severity of what you want me to do!” Sirius was practically yelling, “I can’t betray him or let this go on any longer! He’s my best friend!

“I’ll tell him.” The girl whispered.

“I’ll tell James. I’ll tell him I love you and you love me.”

Sirius glared menacingly at her, “You shouldn’t.” Sirius informed her, attempting to keep his voice level.

“I could, I’m not the type of girl a guy like him dates anyway.”

Sirius sighed, “You were made for a guy like him Lily.”

“Then what were you? What was us? Was I some passing fad or did you actually love me at least half as much as I love you?!”

“If it’s possible to love anyone so much, I love you as much as life itself. But James is my friend and he come first. Marauders stick together no matter what, as much as it pains me.”

“You keep saying how much it pains you, so why can you not relieve yourself and be with me? Be together and not in secret anymore! If James is your best friend he’ll understand!”

“I don’t know how to stress this in any more ways to you little Lily. I am physically able to do it to him but I mentally and emotionally can’t. He’s my best friend, the best in the world as clichéd as that may sound to you. Sure he’d come to terms eventually but the strong bond we have now will be gone. I’ll be an empty soul with nothing to give you. A Marauder isn’t a Marauder without the love and support of the others.”

“It doesn’t have to end this way.”

“Yes, it does Lily. If there’s one thing I want in then world for James it’s for you two to be married and have cute little kids who’ll be the future Marauders. And, heck, I could even be the godfather.” He gave a short bark like laugh as he imagined more Marauders infiltrating the school.

“No way would kids of mine be guys like you.” Lily told, “Well, maybe everything but the arrogance, ignorance and overly much self-confidence you and James have.”

“So... are you okay-”

“If you want to know if I’m okay with you and me not being then no I’m not. Love is worth fighting for as I said, especially a love as deep as ours. But I understand more of yours and James’ relationship. Your best friends and have been so close since you two first met; it’d be like me going out with Remus. Tara would feel so hurt and betrayed I could hardly bear it.” Lily informed him, while mentioning her best friends’ very apparent crush on Remus. Lily managed a weak smile despite herself.

“So are we okay then?”

“As okay as we can be, I suppose.”

“And will you be with James forever times infinity… plus one?”

“Forever times infinity plus one.” Lily agreed, “Even if the love I feel for him is such a different kind of love then what I felt – feel – for you.”

Suddenly Sirius tilted his head and kissed her so deeply and swiftly. His mouth seemed to fit hers perfectly and he caressed her shoulders with his hands. After a moment, which seemed like an eternity later on, Sirius pulled away.

“Goodbye, my little Lily.”

With that he rapidly exited the passageway.

Moments later, a boy collapsed in the corridor from built up grief. He held onto a nearby statue for support.

A girl cried in a passageway as she relayed the events of previous minutes in her fragile mind.

Not very far away, a man paced. His hazel eyes were filled with excitement and nerve-wracking unrest. In his pocket was a delicate diamond ring. His breath came in short bursts as he kept going over and over in his mind what he was about to do. All that was clear was one single line. Will you marry me?
