"The only thing you'll get is this curse on your lips, I hope they taste of me- forever, forever." Will they get together? Will they last? How will everyone else cope? Is it worth it? Are they a curse to each other?song lyrics from Fall Out Boy- "Chicago is so two years ago" lyrics. PRE- HBP

Chapter 1: Chapter One - Surprise!
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- Hey guys, this is my first fanfic, my first posting, etc. I hope you like it and I hope it's long enough. :o/ Please review and tell me what you like, what you didn't, and what you think should happen next. I'm always up for new ideas!

P.S.- If you see someone's name between * 's, that means it's from their point of view.

Chapter One

"I have to go to the head's compartment now and meet the head boy," I told my best friends- Harry, Ron and Ginny. I walked down the hallway looking for my compartment when I saw blonde hair that I would notice anywhere- Malfoy.

"Are you lost Mudblood?" He smirked "Can't find Scarhead and the Weasels?" His two goons laughed and then disappeared into a compartment.

"Sod off Malfoy," I told him attempting to walk past him. Just as I did, a group of first years rushed past, shoving me into Malfoy. He put up his arms to catch me.

"Careful,"He whispered. I could feel his warm breath on my ear. I looked up at him and he winked at me.

"Get off you Prat!" I said pushing myself away from him. I kept walking until I found the head's compartment. I sat down and took out my muggle music player and headphones.

'I wonder who will be head boy...' I thought silently to myself. 'Not Harry, he would have told me, and Ron doesn't get good enough marks. I hope its going to be someone bearable, sharing our own common room and all.' I closed my eyes and let myself fall away into my music. I started to sing with the song.

"The only thing you'll get, is this curse on your lips. I hope they taste of me, forever, forever." I sang along with the American Muggle Band, Fall Out Boy. I was so caught up in my music I didn't notice that the head boy had come in and was watching me. When the song ended I heard someone clapping, my eyes shot open to see none other than Draco Malfoy. I groaned. He smirked.

"Are you lost?" I spat.

"No just enjoying the show," He said looking at me from head to toe.

I had changed a lot over the summer. My usually frizzy, curly, brown hair was now tamed to soft curls with blonde streaks. My body filled out and my swimming over the summer had treated me well, toning my body and giving me a nice glowing tan. I looked up to see Malfoy still looking at me.

"Are you done staring at me?" I asked in a bored tone.

"So Dumbledore made you head girl?" He asked smirking and changing the subject. "I'm discusted to know I'll have a filthy mudblood with only a wall separating it from my bed."

Granger's mouth fell open a little.

"You're head boy?!" She asked in disbelief.

"What? You think you're the only one who can get good marks around here? C'mon Granger, don't look so disappointed. Consider yourself lucky to have such a fine housemate," I stated.

"I'll consider myself lucky when you're dead," She spat glaring at me.

"Now, now Granger," I said clicking my tongue at her. "That's not a nice way to treat a roommate." I smirked.

She put her things back in her ears and closed her eyes. I assumed she couldn't hear me anymore. Looks like i got the last word in that time.

'She does look good.' I thought to myself. 'What am I thinking? This is Granger-A mudblood. She's the foulest thing ever. She's a pretty foul thing." My mind argued. I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I laid down on the bench and tried to sleep. The line from the song she sang echoed in my head. My memory was brilliant and so I couldn't forget it.

'The only thing you'll get is this curse on your lips I hope it tastes of me forever forever.'

I glanced at Granger. Her lips were moving to the music from her ear things. 'I bet she tastes good. I wouldn't mind my lips tasting of her forever,' I shuddered. My teenage mind had taken over my Malfoy mind and upbringing. A Malfoy, finding a mudblood interesting? What was the world coming to? But Granger did, for once, look like a girl. Summer had done all the right things for her.

I sat there listening to my music. I vacationed in America with my cousin and got a taste I was soon to be addicted to. First off, the music. Everything just sounded wonderful. Second, the boys. There is an air to American Muggle boys that makes them seem so dangerous. Third was the dancing and the clubs. I would miss those most. Who would have thought how much innocent bookworm Granger grew up. Let alone, how innocent I wasn't anymore. I smirked at the thought.

Harry was amused with how I changed. Being he was almost my brother, it seemed to fit how all he said was, "Be careful of the guys this year 'Mione'." Ron stood with a slack jaw when he saw me. Then again, he's fancied me since second year. When he came to, his face turned as red as his hair. Ginny on the other hang, being Ron's little sister, came running over to be begging me to tell of my trip. Then there was Malfoy's reaction. His seemed to stand out in my mind the most. In the head's compartment whenever I would look his was I would catch him eyeing me or pretending to look away. I didn't mind it though. While he slept I looked him over. Quidditch had done him good. Even if he was an unbearable ferret, he was still hot. I sighed at myself in disgust and fell back into my music and into sleep.

I awoke to the feeling that something wasn't right. That someone was standing over me, watching me, too close to me. I opened my eyes to see Malfoy's face inches from mine.

"What in bloody hell are you doing?!" I practically yelled.

"I was trying to take those things out of your ears so you could sleep better," He spat.

"Oh," I mumbled. Why was he being nice to me?

Granger glared at me in confusion and frustration. 'Why was I being nice to her?' I thought. 'She did smell nice though. Her hair smelled like vanilla. It made me dizzy when I was so close to her taking out her ear things...Dizzy in a good was though,' I thought just before falling into sleep.

I saw Malfoy smile in his sleep. 'I wonder what he's thinking about.' I looked at him. He was wearing khaki dress pants and a tight black t-shirt. He was pretty cute, in a 'if-he-was-the-last-ferret-on-earth' sort of way. I smiled at myself then felt the train slow to a stop. I looked out the window. I had waited for this all summer. I wasn't about to let Malfoy ruin it for me. I looked at him. 'If I don't wake him up, he'll only be out for revenge,' I considered. I leaned over him and shook his shoulder.

"Mmmm, Hermione," I heard him whisper grabbing onto my hand and holding it. I raised an eyebrow. He lazily opened his eyes and when he saw me, quickly sat up, dropping my hand.

"Were you dreaming about me?" I asked disgusted.

Chapter 2: Chatper Two - The Arrival
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N– Sorry! I didn't know this would be such a big hit so fast. Thanks for the reviews and the great comments. I'm excited to write this now! My apologies for taking so long to put up the second chapter...I was waiting to see when the first would be posted by the site and I've been sick and not too much up for writing.

But-Enjoy :o)
Chapter 2

"Were you dreaming about me?" I asked disgusted.

Malfoy's surprised face quickly turned back to his usual smirk.

"You would like that wouldn't you Granger?" He said. He looked at me from head to toe. He strutted over to me, "If you'd want me to though, I might be able to find a place for you in a dream or two," He added in a husky whisper, inches away from my face, then winked.

"Oh yes. That's exactly what I want," I said walking to him in a slow, sexy manor. "You want it too, don't you, Draco?" I whispered in his ear, purring his name, then bit it softly. I stepped back from him and he stared at me in confusion. I pointed my wand at him, muttering a simple spell, changing him into his robes, then did the same to myself. I winked at him then left my compartment to help Hagrid with the first years.

-After the feast.-

Dumbledore walked Malfoy and I to our common room. Not saying anything. He stopped in front of the painting of a man who looked to be our age.

"This is Sir Luke. The password is 'night'. You may change the password at anytime you wish, but both of you must be present in doing so. I expect you two to get along. Goodnight." He said with the usual twinkle in his eye. I turned to Sir Luke and when I looked back to Dumbledore, he was gone.

"Night." Malfoy said walking to the picture. I followed him in and stood, staring in aw. The common room was at least twice the size of the Gryffindor common room. One over-stuffed couch and two over-stuffed chairs sat in front of a large fireplace. There were three different tables. Two to do works at and one with a bell, I guessed to be for eating. Everything was decorated in red and black to combine the two houses. The ceiling was enchanted like that of the Great Hall. There were three doors. One farthest to the left, marked "Draco", one farthest to the right marked "Hermione", and one in the middle with nothing on it. I went to the middle door to see a huge bathroom. Two showers, two sinks with tons of counter space and a huge bathtub the size of a swimming pool were inside, along with two doors opposite each other at each end. I heard Malfoy walk in behind me and snort.

"It's small but I guess it'll have to do," I heard him mumble.

"Are you insane? This is brilliant!" I told him.

"Oh, I forgot Mudblood. You're not use to having money or nice things," He said sneering and walking into his room.

I walked into my room and smiled. It was in all red and gold. A queen-sized bed, a vanity and wardrobe, plus my own desk. All around were pictures of me and my friends through our Hogwarts years. I went to the wardrobe and saw my clothes had already been unpacked. I took out shorts and a tank top and changed. Grabbing my book, I went to the common room to read. I curled up in one of the overstuffed chairs and started to read when I heard Malfoy come downstairs mumbling to himself.

"That's not good Malfoy. With all the mumbling you do to yourself, some might find you a little crazy." I said not looking up from my book.

"Oh settle down Mudblood. I just want cocoa." He said, his face cold, lacking all emotion. He rang the bell off the table and a house elf appeared.

"Yes Mister Malfoy." It squeaked, bowing so its ears flopped to the ground.

"Get me a mug of cocoa." He spat.

"Yes sir, right away sir." The elf said tripping over itself to get the cocoa.

I got my cocoa and stole a last glance at Hermi- Granger. She leaned over her book, her hair falling in her face and her brown eye darting across the lines on the page. I turned and went up to my room. I sat there thinking. I couldn't be falling for Granger. She was a mudblood. Then again, Father was dead. Mother always discouraged being against people because of their blood. My mind wandered back to my dream on the train--

We were both laying in my bed. It was cold. So we cuddle together to keep warmer. I laid there staring into her welcoming brown eyes as she looked back into mine, challenging me to look away. She brushed the hair off my forehead, we leaned in to kiss and-

"Bloody hell!"I heard a crash as Granger yelled.

'What now?' I thought smirking. I walked down the stairs.

"What did you mess up now?" I asked. I entered to see Grange covered in cocoa and a house elf trembling on the floor. I looked at the elf. "Well?" I asked it. "Go get some rags!"

"Sorry miss. Yes sir, quickly sir." It said scrambling through a door.

"What Malfoy? No snide, hideous remarks?" She asked close to tears.

"Looks like you've been through enough." I said running my hand through my hair and shrugging.

She stared at me in disbelief.

"Never thought of you to be one to curse though. " I said smirking. The elf came back handing me and Granger, warm wet towels.

"Your best bet is to just shower and give them your clothes to be washed." I said. She nodded and tried taking off her robe.

"Come here." I sad helping her out of her robe. Underneath she was wearing short shorts and a tank top. I stood there eyeing her and smirked. "wow mudblood, you grew up." I said winking at her. "You want some help with the shower?"

She pushed me away and sighed in disgust walking to the bathroom.

"You know I'm right next door." I said tauntingly.

"That's what I'm afraid of." I heard her murmur.

"And I really like those shorts." I teased.

She whipped around, glaring at me. She walked over and went to slap me. I caught her hand and smirked.

"You smell good Granger. Like a chocolate covered treat." I said snapping the waist band of her shorts.

"How dare you." She whispered, tears in her glaring eyes. I smirked and let her arm fall.

I sat in my room and heard Granger lock my door from inside the bathroom. She started her shower and ever above that I heard her crying. I sighed and changed into shorts and went and sat in front of the fire.

"I've waited all summer for this and it's already ruined. First Malfoy, then the cocoa." I heard granger murmuring when she walked into the common room.

"What's so bad about me?" I asked, making her jump.

"Sorry I didn't know you were there." She whispered.

"Really? What's so bad about me?" I asked again.

She looked at me like I had just asked the stupidest question in the world, and I somewhat felt like I did.

A/N I hope you liked! I should post the next chapter pretty soon. I have it started. Let me know what you think. And if you have any ideas, please feel free to share them. I'm willing to have this story go whichever way you guys want, (within reason.)

Chapter 3: Chapter Three - Dealing With The Roommate
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- Not much for me to say before you guys read this . . . So I'll jump right into the story! :o) ENJOY!

Chapter Three

"What's so bad about me?" Malfoy asked.

I looked at him in disbelief.

"Is this some kind of joke?" I asked. He shook his head no.

"You've got to be bloody kidding me. You really want to know?" I asked getting angry.

"Yes." He said weakly, watching my every move. I sighed and looked at him in the eye. There was no emotion. His eyes were empty. Just pools of silver, nothing more than color.

"You are an insufferable little prat. You have tormented me since the first day we came to Hogwarts because I was not lucky enough to have wizarding parents. You hate me because Harry didn't take your offer to be friends first year. I can't think of one day I've been at school that you haven't made it your personal mission to make it a living hell for me." I said refusing to break eye contact. He would not think of me as the weak one.

"So now tell me Malfoy-" I said a moment later, he raised an eyebrow at me."What is so horrible about me other than my blood?"

He was the first to break eye contact. I felt tears but I blinked them back, still looking at Malfoy. He got up and walked around in front of the fire.

He paced back and forth, back and forth. He seemed to be having quite the argument within his head. 'What is he thinking. How hard can it be to answer? I told him everything without a mere thought." my mind in constant wonder. He glanced up at me, murmured something to himself then went back to pacing, showing no other sign of noticing me even being in the same room as him.

Suddenly, as if making up his mind and wanting to answer before regretting his choice, he stared at me, directly in the eyes. For the first time, his cold, emotionless silver eyes were not bright blue, and filled with hurt and confusion.

"It's you." He whispered, barely audible. "You're perfect. You have everything. I'm jealous." He didn't go into any more detail.

I suddenly felt something on my ankle. I looked around to see Crookshanks paying at my leg. I was laying in my bed, my hair wet still from my shower.

'Was it all a dream?' I thought. "After my shower, I laid down to think...that was a dream. I had a dream Malfoy thought I was perfect.' Man oh man.

I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I changed into my pajamas and went back to sleep. I woke up the next morning and went to take a shower. I walked in to see Malfoy getting out of the shower with only a towel around his waist. I couldn't help but stare. Quidditch had his whole body toned, more so than what I thought on the train. His hair was wet and going every which way, falling into his eyes. He winked at me then smirked, walking into his room. I quickly took a shower. I did a drying spell on my hair and wore it straight. I put on a black skirt, a pink halter top and pink flip flops. Classes didn't start until tomorrow. Realizing I was too late for breakfast and too early for lunch, I went downstairs to the common room and rang for a house elf.

"Yes Ms. Granger." It greeted me.

"Is there anything around for breakfast?" I asked.

"Anything you like Miss." It squeaked.

"A blueberry muffin?" I asked.

It disappeared, coming back moments later with a muffin and pumpkin juice. I sat at the table to eat it when I heard Malfoy come downstairs. I pretended not to notice. I felt Malfoy's eyes burn into me. I glanced at him to see him staring at me.

"Can I help you?" I asked him.

He smirked. "It looks like you still have cocoa in your hair." He teased.

"Impossible. I've washed my hair almost 50 times in the past 24-hours." I murmured getting up.

"The Mudblood doesn't feel like fighting?" Malfoy spat.

"Not today." I said in a singsong voice turning to him and smiling. I walked out the front portrait hole leading to the halls. I walked to the Gryffindor common room. Ron and Harry were playing wizards chess.

" 'Ey 'Mione." They both mumbled.

"Hi guys." I said walking over. I glanced at their game so far. It looked like this was the closest Harry has come to beating Ron yet. Just then Ginny walked down to the common room. Seeing me, she ran over.

"So?! How's Malfoy?" Ginny asked, her eyes wide.

"Really, uhm, Can I talk to you in private?" I asked. Ron and Harry paid no attention to us. We went up to the girls dorms and I told Ginny everything, including my dream and how Malfoy was acting.

"Well." Ginny thought. "So he's actually being nice?"

"Yeah, but once it sinks in he was being nice, he goes back to his old self." I told her.

"Hmmm. Do you like him?" She asked.

"Of course no-" Ginny interrupted me with a glare.

"...Maybe?" I said weakly.

"Okay. This I can work with." She smiled.

"So what should I do?" I asked him impatiently.

"Kiss him." She stated.

"What will that solve?" I asked sighing.

"It will sort out how you feel about him." She paused.

"And maybe get him to make up his mind." She said winking at me. "Let's hope your trip to America pays off."

I sighed. "Thanks" I mumbled getting up. I walked back to my common room slowly, thinking about everything Ginny said. I quickly ran my fingers through my hair and straightened my outfit.

"Hello Sir Luke." I told the painting smiling.

"Good day Miss Hermione." How are you?" He asked.

"Just lovely. Night." I told him.

"Very well." He said moving the painting revealing a door. I walked through and didn't see Malfoy anywhere. I started to walk to my room when he walked out of his. He was wearing baggy black sweat pants and no shirt, eating an apple, his messy hair falling into his eyes. (A/N Gets dreamy look thinking about him. *cough* back to the story...)

"Do you ever leave the head's tower?" I asked.

"Sometimes." He mumbled, then speaking louder added "It's actually quite homey, minus a certain little Mudblood of course. It is better than the library." He sneered.

"The library isn't too bad." I said starting to walk past him, not letting him get to me. He grabbed my arm, stopping me.

"What is wrong with you Granger?" He demanded pulling me back, closer to him. "You’ve lost your fire and willingness to fight" He challenged me.

I looked at him for a moment. 'Now or never' My mind decided. I leaned close to him, my nose almost brushing his. He didn't back off.

"I don't see the point." I whispered, my breath hot on his lips. I leaned in and kissed him. Full and powerful. He dropped his apple, putting his arms around my waist. I nibbled his lip and felt him pull me closer. I smiled inside. My head was spinning and my knees weak. I broke the kiss and he looked at me in wonder.

"I have everything I want." I said walking away. "Nothing worth fighting for." I called over my shoulder, glancing back at him. He was still watching me in confusion. 'Thank you Ginny' I smiled.

Preview- Chapter Four "what just happened?"
"I kissed you dumbass, and you enjoyed it."
"Was she right?"

A/N- I know you guys like the alternating view points, so my apologies for it being all from Hermione.

Okay about the dream thing. It's kinda confusing...sorry but I didn't really like the direction I had it going just yet. But, back in Chapter 2...the dream starts after he snaps the waistline of her shorts and she gets in the shower. Everything after that is her dream until Crookshanks is on her feet. Sorry for any confusion.

*Disclaimer- I own nothing. Only the plot!***

Chapter 4: Chapter Four - Just A Kiss
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- Hey! I'm so so soooooo so terribly sorry it's taken me so long to update. I've had homecoming week then I got horribly sick and this is the first time I've been on the computer since.

I know this Chapter is really short but it was either, (a) write one, really really really long chapter or (b) one short chapter and one kinda long one, so I went with writing two. I'm posting Chapter Five right after this one so you shouldn't have to wait too long :o) Please enjoy and tell me what you think.

Chapter Four

I stood there not being able to think. “What just happened?” I asked aloud. I heard a door open.

“I kissed you dumbass. And you enjoyed it.” I heard Granger yell then close her door.

“Bloody hell” I murmured walking to my room.

Was she right? Did I enjoy it?’ I thought. I smirked. ‘Little Draco sure did. She’s a mud-muggleborn. Hell, father is dead. Voldermont dead too. But still, my stomach was still dancing and it was only a kiss. Just a kiss. How the hell did she learn to bloody kiss that good? She’s too innocent.’ I put my fingers to my lips. They were still warm. ‘Still taste like her too’ I added running my tongue over my lips.

“What just happened?” Malfoy asked downstairs. I smiled.

I opened my door. “I kissed you dumbass.” I told him. “And you liked it.” I added before closing my door. I had to tell Ginny! I looked at the clock. Lunch was just starting. I ran down to the common room and to the Great hall.

“‘Ne!” Ginny yelled upon seeing me and the look on my face.

“Hey Herm.” Ron and Harry said.

“Did you do it- What happened?!” Ginny asked excitedly.

“Do what?” Harry asked.

“What happened? Do what? What’s going on?” Ron chimed in.

I sat down next to Ginny. Three pairs of expectant eyes on me.

“I did it.” I said. Ginny squealed, clapping her hands. Harry and Ron looked at both of us for explanation.

“And,” Ginny asked.

“Oh man Gin.” I said sighing. “It was great, caught him completely off guard.”

“Did he say anything after?” She questioned.

“Who?!” Harry and Ron asked.

“No. He just stood there in awe. I think he liked it.” I said, feeling myself blush.

“Did you like it?” Ginny asked me seriously. I bit my lip. I hadn’t thought about it.

“Yeah. I think so. It made my head dizzy and my knees weak.” I said smiling at the thought.

“Oh Merlin, you so want him!” Ginny stated.

“WHO?!” Ron and Harry practically yelled.

“Never mind you.” Ginny said waving her hand at them like it was nothing.

I sat on the couch reading. An owl flew in and dropped a letter. The envelope was a soft pink. Giant red letters saying ’URGENT’, Address to Hermione. I recognized that envelope. I got the exact same when my father was found dead. Someone in her family had died.

“Granger!” I heard someone yell walking into the Great Hall. I turned to see Malfoy walking in. He had a shirt on now and was carrying something.

“Fuck off Malfoy.” Harry said as he and Ron stood up. Ginny looked at me and winked. Most everyone in the great hall was watching us.

“Not now Potter.” Malfoy said. He walked toward me. “You got a letter. It says it’s urgent. I suggest you come back to the common room.” He said showing me the letter.

I looked at him in confusion. “I can just as well read it here.” I told him.

“No. Not with everyone watching. Trust me.” He said. I looked in his eyes. They were cold, but I could see a hint of caring.

“I’ll talk to you guys later.” I said grabbing my bag.

Ron and Harry shot me angry, quizzical looks. I followed Malfoy out of the Great Hall. We walked in silence. “Why do you think I should read it at the common room?” I asked.

He stopped to look at me. “It’s not good news.” He told me sighing. “I’ve gotten one of these before. I can tell by the envelope.”

He started walking again.

“Can I at least have it?” I asked.

“No. Not until the common room. If you’ll react any way near how I think you will, trust me, this is best.” He said.

“Why should I trust you?” I asked. He slowed his pace.

“Because you look for the good in people.” He said facing the ground.

“I didn’t know there was any good in you.” I stated.

He stopped and turned to face me directly. “I am not my father Hermione. If I had no good in me, then I would have just burned this and not have told you. Let alone lead you out of the great hall to make sure you were close to alone when you read it.”

We stared at each other for a moment.

“I trust you.” I whispered.

He walked to the portrait. “Night” he said. Sir Luke nodded then let both of us in.

“Sit down.” He said pointing to the couch.

A/N I'm really bad about leaving you on cliffhangers. My apologies. Five will be up a.s.a.p! Promise!

*Disclaimer- I do not own Harry Potter, any charaters or places. The plot is mine.***

Chapter 5: Chapter Five - An Unlikely Shoulder to Cry On
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- Here you go. Enjoy!

Malfoy walked to the portrait.

“Night” he said.

Sir Luke nodded then let both of us in.

“Sit down.” He said pointing to the couch.

Chapter Five

I sat down and Malfoy sat next to me. He handed me my letter. I opened it slowly. This couldn’t be good. He was being too nice to me. Pity? It seemed like it. I read the letter. It took five times of reading it to comprehend.

“Who was it?” Malfoy asked softly.

“My parents.” I whispered, dropping the letter. No. This wasn’t happening. “A plane crash.” “They were going to convention overseas.” “Unexpected problems.” “Crash.” “No know survivors.” “Dead.” “Gone.” “Forever.” Sentence fragments kept filing through my head. I felt tears coming. My head was spinning. He wouldn’t see me cry, he wouldn’t see me at my weakest. I got up to walk to my room. I barely made it a step when I fell to the ground in a fit of tears. Malfoy picked me up and sat me on the couch next to him. He hugged me and tried to comfort me.

“This can’t be real.” I said quietly.

“It is.”He whispered.

I faced him, hugging him. I buried my face in his neck, staining his shirt with my tears.

“They’re all I have,” I mumbled, numb.

“You have Potter, and the Weasels.” He told me.

I shook my head “They didn’t care about me like my parents did,” I whispered.

“Your parents still care about you. They just can’t show it anymore.” He told me. I nodded.

Malfoy laid me down on the couch and covered me with a blanket. He sat next to me and softly rubbed my back. He took off his shirt and handed it to me.

“What for?” I asked.

“Tears, snot.” He said shrugging.

“You don’t care if you get mudblood germs on it?” I asked.

“Ssshh,” he said putting a finger over my lips and wiping away a tear.

I laid there silent. Crying silent tears, shaking uncontrollably. Malfoy never moved.

“When you got this letter before, who was it about?” I asked nearly two hours later.

“My father,” he said “May he rot in hall.” He added before I could say anything. The look on his face changed, his whole body- all his features softened. He seemed to look past me. “And my sister.” He added. He kept talking and I didn’t try to stop him. “It was the summer before I became a first year. My sister was six years older than me, but she was my best friend. She was 17, and decided to travel the world. A great person, interested immensely in muggles. The night she came home, she talked to me for hours about her trip and different muggle things. The next morning, she announced that she was carrying a muggle-man’s baby. My father would not hear of it. He started to kill her right then. A slow painful death, lasting all day. And he made me sit and watch her die. That was the day my emotions died and my feelings went cold. I knew I would want nothing to do with my father, but until he died and Voldermont fell, I would have to seem loyal, at least to stay alive. My father made it look as if a death eater had killed her during her travels.” Malfoy ended, staring at the ground.

I sat up and gave him a hug. He looked at me in confusion. I ignored his look and sat there hugging him. We pulled apart and he looked at me, brushing hair off my cheek. I looked in his eyes. For the first time they were filled with emotions. Confusion. Hurt. Longing. Pain. Wonder. Understanding. I fell into a fresh wave of tears and he hugged me close. A barn owl flew in, dropping a letter next to us. Malfoy picked it up and read it quickly.

“Dumbledore wants to see us. Must’ve heard.” He said.

I nodded. I washed my face as Malfoy went to put on a shirt. I straightened my clothes as he walked over to me.

“You okay?” He whispered.

I nodded as we walked out of the portrait. We walked in silence to Dumbledore’s office.

“Fire whiskey.” Malfoy muttered gruffly at the gargoyles. They jumped aside revealing the staircase.

“Please, come in.” Dumbledore said as we reached the top of the stairs. We both sat facing him.

“For the beginning of the year, there will be a Halloween ball. I’m giving you nearly two months to organize everything with the perfects.” Dumbledore said. We both nodded. “A list of meeting dates and locations will be owled to your dormitory. Now, Mister Malfoy, if you will excuse us, I need to discuss something with Miss Granger.” He added.

“Headmaster please, Draco already knows everything. I would be more comfortable if he stayed.” I said as Malfoy got up to leave. He stopped and looked at me. Did I really just call him ‘Draco’ aloud?

“Very well.” Dumbledore said glancing at both of us, his eyes twinkling more than before. His look softened as he turned to me.”I have indeed heard of the news of your parents death.” He began. I held back my tears. “Any league of absence within reason will be permitted. For the funeral, you may bring friends for support if their guardians agree.”

I nodded. Unable to find words at the suddenly reality of it all. Dumbledore finished and Malfoy and I left for our common room. As we reached Sir Luke, I saw Harry and Ron.

“They can’t see me like this,” I quickly mumbled to Malfoy. He nodded.

“Night,” he said to Luke as I ran into the common room.

“Hermione!” Ron yelled reaching Malfoy.

“She’s not feeling well. Just finished a meeting with Dumbledore now she’s going to bed.” I heard Malfoy say. I could hear the smirk in his voice. Before Harry or Ron could say anything Malfoy walked into the common room, closing the portrait. I leaned against a wall and sunk to the floor. Malfoy walked over and looked down at me.

“Come on.” He said picking me up. “Bed time. You’re exhausted.”

He carried me up to my room and set me on my bed. He left to go to his room and came back with a t-shirt and boxers. He handed them to me. I raised an eyebrow.

“I know you’re not sleeping in that,” he said motioning to my outfit. “And I didn’t want to go through your clothes. Now hurry up and change.” He said starting to leave.

“You can stay.” I told him. He turned around and raised an eyebrow at me. “Just turn around.” I told him. I quickly changed. “Okay,” I mumbled. He sat down on my bed and started tucking me in.

“Please,” I whispered grabbing his hand as he started to get up. “Stay here tonight?” I asked. I was afraid to be alone with my thoughts. I moved over and held the covers slightly open for him. He hesitated a minute then laid down. We laid there look at each other.

“You called me Draco,” he mumbled.

“What?” I asked.

“In Dumbledore’s office. You called me Draco instead of Malfoy. What the change?” He asked.

“I saw emotion in your eyes. And you’ve changed.” I whispered, my eyes getting heavy. “And you called me Hermione today in the hall before you gave me the letter.”

The next thing I knew I was sitting between my parent son a plane. Everyone was screaming. I saw the plane crash, but couldn’t feel anything. I was walking around the wreckage when I saw my parents. Dead. I started screaming, trying to get them to wake up.

“HERMIONE!” I heard Malfoy yelling. I opened my eyes and saw him leaning over me.

I looked up at him and started crying. He pulled me into a tight hug.

“It was only a dream.” He whispered rocking back and forth.

“I...I...I saw them...Dead...As the plane crashed...I saw them dead.” I sobbed.

Malfoy cradled me in his arms until I stopped crying. I laid down and malfoy laid next to me. He squeezed my hand. I looked at him the cuddled close to him. He held me tightly and I fell into a deep dreamless sleep.

Chapter 6: Chapter Six - Someone to Confide In
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- A long one because I seem to be really bad about updating. Sorry! Let me know what you think and what you think should happen next. Any ideas are welcome!!! Constructive criticism is welcomed with wide open arms...even if you don't like something I did. Let me know. Tell me why. Don't just write something like "Wow that sucked." But let me know why. I'll stop talking now. :o) Enjoy!

Chapter Six

I woke up feeling comfortable and safe. I refused to open my eyes. ‘This was all a dream. ’ I repeated to myself. I felt something stir next to me. I opened my eyes to see Malfoy. So this wasn’t a dream. He opened his eyes lazily and looked at me half asleep.

“Wow. You’re beautiful. What did I have to do to get you in my bed?” He mumbled. I smirked at him.

“Shit did I just say that out loud?” He groaned.

I laughed then smirked at him again.

“Hey.” He whispered putting his arms around my waste, pulling me close to him. He put his head on my shoulder. “That’s my smirk. And you’re not allowed to use it.” He told me.

“How are you gonna stop me?” I asked. He got up on his hands and knees on top of me. He smirked then leaned in and kissed me. I laughed against his lips.

“What?” He asked pulling away.

“That isn’t going to stop me from doing anything. You’re going to have to try harder.” I told him smirking.

He kissed me rough and hard. His tongue begging access past my lip.

“Oh come on.” He mumbled against my lips.

I smirked. “You have to earn it.” I teased.

I looked at the clock. Breakfast was in 45 minutes.

"Shit." I said.

"What?" Malfoy asked still on top of me.

"Breakfast in 45 minutes." I stated.

"So?" He said raising an eyebrow at me. "We have 45 minutes before we have to go to the great hall."

"Nope. I have to shower." I told him.

A smirk danced on his lips. "Oh, okay. I see where you're going with this." He told me starting to get up.

"Getting where with what?!" I asked.

He started to take off his shirt.

"I'm showering BY MYSELF!" I told him.

He pouted at me. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Twenty-four hours ago we hated each other. What in hell makes you think that I'll even let you in the room while I shower?" I asked him.

"Maybe because you had me sleep with you all night and had a death grip on me to where I couldn't even get up. When I happened to go to the loo you were bloody screaming and crying in your sleep." Malfoy smirked.

"So? That doesn't mean you can shower with me." I stated.

Malfoy looked like something clicked inside his head. "You can't sleep without me. You need me Granger." He stated, almost smiling. No- Malfoy didn't know how to smile. Of course he wasn't smiling.

"What a load of bloody rubbish." I said.

He raised an eyebrow, "You screamed when I left. Bloody nightmares."

"That doesn't mean I need you, just a warm body with strong arms to cuddle up to. I can get that from Harry or Ron." I said shrugging.

Malfoy didn't say anything for a while. Just sat and thought about what I said.

"And if I remember right, you didn't protest." I added.

"Why would I? A chick asked for me to stay in her bed for the night. I calmed you when you freaked out. I thought I might be able to get at least a kiss out of it as payment." He said. "A decent kiss." He added smirking.

I shot a glance at the clock. I now had 35 minutes, and Malfoy was blocking my way to the bathroom. I sighed.

"The longer you wait, the more you lust and anticipate, and the better it is." I whispered breathing into his ear.

He didn't move or say anything. I ran my hands from his chin slowly down his chest then down to his sides. I put my hand on his back just above his pants, drawing small circles on his back with my nails.

"Think you can wait?" I asked.

"You're such a tease." He told me. I slowly started to move away from him and to the bathroom. "You're too innocent to act on what you say." He added.

I half turned around to look at him. "Am I?" I asked feeling the twinkle in my eyes show.

He raised an eyebrow at me. "The bookworm has a dirty side? You know I always heard that the quiet ones were best in bed." He said winking at me.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" I said before turning around and going into the bathroom. I locked all the doors then took a quick shower. I used a drying spell on my hair and walked into my room in a towel. To my surprise Malfoy was sleeping in my bed. I groaned. He was cute but I wouldn't be able to get rid of him easily. I quietly grabbed my uniform for under my school robes and dressed in the bathroom. I did my makeup and looked at the clock. 10 minutes. I walked over and woke up Malfoy.

"What in the bloody- oh." He said seeing me. "Wow." He mumbled.

I rolled my eyes. "10 minutes. I'm leaving in 5." I told him trying to find my other shoe.

"You do realize you're going to have to tell PotHead and Weasel why you ran away and left me to fend them off last night right?" Malfoy said watching me from my bed. I stopped dead in my tracks. I hadn't thought about that. Malfoy smirked.

"They'll understand." I told him only half convinced myself. They would be angry that I went with Malfoy to the common room instead of them. But once I told them why they would understand.

I found my other shoe and put it on then grabbed my school robe. Malfoy got up and went to his room, coming back moments later changed.

"I shower at night." He announced.

"Good for you." I said walking down the stairs.

I went down to the Great Hall and to the Gryffindor table, spotting Harry, Ron and Ginny. Harry looked over at me. I forced a smile.

"So how's living with Malfoy?"Ginny asked.

"Don't ask." I said sighing.

"What was up with last night 'Mione?" Ron asked.

"When?" I asked playing dumb. It was safest I guess.

"When we called you as you were going into you common room and Malfoy said you didn't feel well." Ron said.

"You looked like you were crying." Harry added looking at me closely.

"I, uhm, got some really bad news and was upset and just wanted to go to bed." I told them.

"What happened?" Ginny asked.

"Was it the damn ferret?" Ron asked. Harry put a defensive arm around my waist.

"No, Ron, it wasn't Malfoy. Ginny I'd rather not discuss it now. I'll tell you after classes today." I told them.

Harry gave me a little squeeze, pulling me closer to him. 'I knew they would understand' I thought.

I walked into the Great Hall and sat at the table where my house mates made room for me. I couldn't get Granger out of my head. What was so different about her? Why did I feel the need to comfort her? Well, I had been there before. I lost basically the one person who cared about me. But why did I tell her that? Why did I say every little thing that happened to my sister? And why did she hug me? It seemed almost like she cared.

I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I looked up and saw Potter put his arm around Hermione. 'Only I am supposed to comfort her. ' My mind screamed. 'Why do I care? ' I wondered.

"Drake!" I heard Parkinson squeal.

'Bloody hell.' I murmured, receiving a look from Blaise. He understood how much she got under my skin.

"Where have you been? I haven't seen you since the train ride here." She cooed squeezing her too skinny body next to me.

"Why do I owe you an explanation?" I growled.

She pouted and linked her arm with mine. "Because you love me Drakie."

'Bloody hell get me out of here!' My mind screamed. I glanced up and saw Granger looking at me. We made eye contact, and she quickly turned around and began scribbling something. Pansy was watching my every move waiting for an explanation, and she wouldn't give me my bloody arm back. Suddenly my whole table got quiet. I looked around and saw Granger walking toward me. She dropped a piece of parchment in front of me then walked out of the Great Hall without saying a word. I glanced down at the parchment.

A/N- I know you're all probably sitting there thinking " Grumble, grumble...Damn cliff hangers...grumble, grumble" And once again, my apologies. This was just getting too long. Seven should be up soon! I hope you enjoyed it.

Chapter 7: Chapter Seven - A New Friend
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- Here you go. Sorry it took so long, I had to change some stuff...I think it's okay now.

Chapter Seven

Quick meeting with Dumbledore. He’ll meet us at is office.’ The parchment read in perfect curved letters.

“Gotta go. Got a meeting.” I mumbled jumping up, nearly knocking Pansy over.

I walked out of the Great Hall and saw Granger sitting on the Grand Staircase.

“Since when have you been a horrible actor?” She asked standing up.

“What?”I asked in complete confusion.

“No meeting, I just thought I’d save you from the Pug.” She said.

“Oh, that. I make it completely obvious that I think she’s revolting, and she still is oblivious.” I said running my hand through my hair. Granger started walking and without thinking, I followed.

“Where are we going anyway?” I asked after a minute.

“I don’t know.” She said shrugging. “I just figured that while we’re in a ‘meeting’ we shouldn’t be sitting on the grand staircase.”

After a minute she stopped walking and sat in a little nook where she wasn’t visible until you went inside. We sat across from each other.

“So what’s this about you not being innocent any more Granger?” I asked.

“Why?” She smirked. My smirk. I’ll get her for that later.

“I like the idea of you being innocent. But this new side of you has me intrigued.” I told her.

“Well don’t get any ideas. I’m not like your little flings, I’m still the same person. Just had some fun and let myself be free this summer.” She said smirking.

I raised an eyebrow. “Fine, fine. But you really have to stop using my smirk.”

“Yes your highness.” She said laughing.

“What’s so funny?” I asked.

“I know how to tick you off.” She said in a singsong voice.

I couldn’t help but chuckle. She was so cute. -Wait.- I just described Granger as cute?

“OH MERLIN!” Hermione said acting surprised. “Draco Malfoy knows how to laugh!” She exclaimed.

I couldn’t help but smile.

“Oh no! Hold on!” She said moving closer to me, poking my cheeks. “HE SMILES TOO!”

I laughed and pushed her hands away.

“Merlin Malfoy, I actually am beginning to believe you’re human.” She teased.

“Sssshh.” I said putting my finger to her lips. “Wouldn’t want to ruin my reputation!”

She giggled. Man was it intoxicating. I smiled.

“My lips are sealed.” She whispered. We sat in silence for a few beats. “I never leave the common room because of Pansy.” I confessed.

Hermione raised an eyebrow. “THE Draco Malfoy, Slytherin sex God, A gift to all ladies, hottest boy at Hogwarts -biggest prat- has been telling me off for years, can’t tell a whiny little girl to fuck off?” She asked.

“She’s too dumb to understand.” I said.

“But Drakie!” Hermione squealed, perfectly imitating Pansy. “You love me!” She added latching onto my arm, giggling.

I looked over at her, “Never do that again.” I told her.

“But Drakie.” She pouted.

I laughed.

She unhooked herself from my arm. “So when she’s hooked on you by the arm- Do you feel like you’d rather chew off your own arm then risk talking to her?” She tested.

“Yes.” I said.

Hermione sat up, putting the back of her hand to my forehead.

“Yes, I do believe you’re human.” She teased.

I sat there once again across from Draco.

“So- Are we friends now or what are we?” He asked.

I looked at him for a minute. “I guess this means we’re friends.” I said sighing dramatically. He smiled at me. He had a very cute smile, especially when his eyes weren’t cold.

“You do realize you’re not allowed to repeat anything that was said in this nook right?” He asked me.

“Why?” I questioned.

“I have a reputation to uphold.” He smirked. He got quiet for a moment then looked at me. “And if I have to be rude to you in passing I’m sorry.” He said. I raised an eyebrow. “I’ll do it as little as possible, but you have to understand how it is with my house.” He said.

I thought of Harry and Ron and nodded. “The same foes for me.” I told him. He nodded.

I sighed and stood but, beginning to pace. “I don’t know how I’m going to tell Harry, Ron or Ginny.” I said putting my face in my hands.

“Don’t worry.” He said pulling me into a tight hug. “It will all be okay.”

I sighed and got lost in his scent, burring my face in his neck.

“So that’s why you didn’t come talk to us. Bad news my arse.” I heard Ron say. My body went rigid and I was too scared to turn around.

“Not now Weasley. I’m not in the mood to deal with your rubbish and as you can tell, she’s already upset.” Draco said.

I refused to move.

I heard Ron grunt. “Well Hermione. That trip to America must’ve changed you. Seem like quite the slut now, hanging around Malfoy in dark corners.” He said. I felt tears sting my eyes. Before I could even muster a retort, Draco had let me go and punched Ron. Ron was in turn hitting Draco, both had gotten in good punches. Draco, though he got muscle over the summer, he was equally matched with Ron, who was now toned from quidditch.

“Stop it!” I yelled at both of them. Neither listened, I went and pushed Ron off of Draco.

“Don’t you ever call me a slut.” I said before slapping him. I turned on my heel and began walking toward the library for my free class first. I found my old favorite- “Hogwarts: A History” and curled up in a chair in the far back corner, secluded from everyone. I heard footsteps then felt someone sit next to me on the couch. I refused to look up, instead I reread the same line numerous times. I felt the person move closer to me then lightly brush my arm.

“Hey.” Ron whispered.

I stood up letting my book fall. “Ronald Weasley how dare you have the audacity to even consider talking to me after what you said!” I said glaring at him, Draco had got in many good hits by the looks of his face. I turned on my heel and left before he could say anything. I walked into the head’s common room, collapsing on the couch, not noticing Draco sitting there reading. I curled into a ball, pushing my face into the back of the couch. Suddenly I felt someone softly rub my back. I jumped and fell onto the floor on my back. I looked up to see Draco over me, smirking. He barely had any marks on him from Ron, far less than Ron had from him.

“What are you doing on the floor?” He asked coyly, pulling me up onto the couch next to him. I sneered at him without saying anything.

“C’mere.” He said getting up and looked at the clock. I said an eyebrow as he pulled me off the couch. “We can get a quick shag in before we go to classes, and it will put you in a better mood.” He joked.

“You prat.” I said punching his shoulder. After a moment I sighed heavily and fell onto the couch.

“He probably hates me no.” I thought aloud. I held back tears. “And he doesn’t even know why.”

Draco gave me a hug. We pulled apart and he wiped away my tears.

“Hey,” He whispered leaning his forehead against my forehead, his eyes burning into mine. “Everything will be okay,” he squeezed my hand. “Promise.”

He sat there staring into my eyes. I shivered. I nodded and swallowed hard.

“C’mon and pull yourself together. We have double potions in half an hour.” He told me.

I sighed and got up, washing my face in the bathroom. I fixed my hair and clothes then went down to leave for potions.

Chapter 8: Chapter Eight - Draco Tells Ron
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- I know I got some angry reviews because the last chapter was so short, I apologise. I tried to make this one a little bit longer. It still is kinda short tho..Sorry :o) Any ideas with how to go about this would be greatly appreciated because I'm kind of stuck in a rut. I have ideas but I don't want them to happen this soon ya know? Anywho- ENJOY!

Chapter Eight

I started to walk down to dinner, terrified at what it might be like. ‘Did Ron tell Harry and Ginny I’m friends with Malfoy now? Would Harry freak as much as Ron? Was Ron still mad? No, he tried to talk to me. I wonder what changed his mind so fast?’ I sighed and followed a group of second year Ravenclaws in. Ron, Harry and Ginny all gave me forced smiles. I walked over carefully. Ginny ran over and gave me a hug.

“OH Hermione!” She cried. “I have no idea how you must feel! Are you okay?” I shook her off and she sat down.

Ron didn’t say anything. I sat next to Harry confused. He pulled me into a huge hug.

“I’m here for anything. I know what you’re going through.” He told me.

“What?” I asked.

“Ron told us what happened to your parents.” Ginny explained.

“What?! Who?! How?!” I stuttered. ‘MALFOY!’ my mind screamed. “Never mind, I know.” I said turning and leaving the Great Hall. Once out of the doors I ran the whole way to the common room.

“Miss, Are you-“

“NIGHT!” I interrupted Sir Luke. He nodded and opened the door.

“DRACO MALFOY HOW DARE YOU!” I screamed barging into his room. He was sitting up in his bed, startled and confused.

“Whaaumm?” He mumbled.

“I can’t believe you.” I said sighing. I ran into my room and locked the door. I sat on my bed crying.

“Hermione!” Draco pounded at my door. I didn’t say anything or make any move to answer the door. After an hour I heard him leave the portrait hole. I cautiously went to see if he was in the common room. I didn’t see him then retreated back to my room. I locked the door and sat there thinking about my parents. I curled up on my bed and let all the tears I had been holding back, flow out uncontrolled. I heard someone move behind me. I didn’t even care to turn and look. I felt someone sit behind me on my bed then wrap their arms tightly around me. I turned to look at my intruder and my eyes met bright green ones, staring back at me exploding with concern.

“Harry” I whispered turning around and hugging him.

“I know” He whispered as I cried into his shoulder. He softly rocked me and rubber my back, calming me. We sat there for hours talking about our parents and different things. At 3 a.m. we were laying next to each other on my bed. I yawned.

“Wow, it’s late I should get back to my room.” Harry said.

“It’s too late, if you get caught you’re dead.” I told him. “Just sleep here.”

“You sure?” He asked. I nodded. I got up to wash my face and when I came back he was asleep . . . taking up my whole bed.

I went and peeked in Draco’s room. His room was pitch black and I figured he was asleep. I was just about to close the door when I heard him say “I’m awake, you can come in Hermione.”

I closed the door behind me and went and tried to sit on his bed, relying more on memory than sight. I sat on the edge of his bed.

“Been up with Potty all night?” He asked, sounding much closer than I thought he was.

“Yeah. Why in bloody hell did you tell Ron about my parents?” I asked.

“So you wouldn’t have to.” He explained simply, putting his hand on my knee.

“Where are you?” I whispered, following his arm to the rest of his body. I found him then wrapped my arms around his neck in a hug, half laying on him.

“Thanks.” I mumbled. “How come you’re not asleep?”

“Can’t seem to get there. But you’re not being too smart.” He said. I heard the smirk in his voice.

“How so?” I asked confused.

“It’s the middle of the night, and I’m wide awake, only in boxers. And you’re laying half on top of me, and scratching my arm with your nails.” He said.

I ran my fingers through his hair and touched my nose to his. “I could just sleep with Harry tonight.” I whispered.

“No way.” He said wrapping his arms around me.

“Can’t sleep without me huh?” I teased laying next to him.

He hugged me. “Not true.” He said.

“Jealous of Harry then are we?” I asked poking his stomach.

“Never.” He said stubbornly, tightening his abs. I smiled.

“Okay then Drakie.” I said mimicking Pansy.

I could feel Draco glare at me while I laid my head on his chest and curled up against him. He wrapped his arms tightly around me.

“He may be the Boy-Who-Just-Wouldn’t-Die but, he has to sleep alone at night.” I heard Draco whisper.

“And if you don’t be nice then you will be sleeping alone too.” I told him.

“What makes you think you’re the only girl I’ll actually sleep with?” He asked.

I rolled on top of him, leaning on his chest, looking him in the eyes.

“With every other girl its just shagging. With me it’s a friendship.” I said.

“Just because you’re head girl, it doesn’t mean that you know everything.” He told me.

“Just admit it.” I told him laughing.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

“You love me Drakie!” I mimicked Pansy again.

“Oh that’s it!” He said flipping me over then straddling my waist, holding my hands above my head. I smirked at him. The little bit of light in the room shone on him. Merlin, was he hot.

“What?” He asked looking down at me, caught off guard by my lack of attention.

“Just thinking” I said shaking my head.

“About what?” He whispered, putting his face closer to mine, pushing his body against me.

“Oh you know.” I smiled.

He raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah. That I should sleep on the couch.” I said catching him off guard, pushing him off me and he ended up on the floor. I grabbed the thick blanket off his bed and ran to the common room. I wrapped myself in it, breathing in deeply, still smelling him on it. I laid down on the couch as I heard step coming downstairs. I turned and saw Harry.

“Hey” He whispered walking over to me.

“You should go to bed you have Quidditch try-outs tomorrow.” I reminded him. He nodded and stood up.

“I’m just gonna get my cloak and go back to my room.” He told me.

I heard Draco come downstairs. “Damnit Granger, give me my bloody blanket.” He said. He stopped when he saw Harry.

“Can you handle him?” Harry asked. I nodded.

“Go to bed.” I told him. He ran up to my room and came back with his cloak, slipping through the door then putting it on as he left. I looked at Draco and laughed. He was in only boxers, his hair a mess and his cheeks slightly colored.

“I’m gonna kill you!” He said smiling and hoping over the couch to me.

“Shit.” I mumbled trying to run. I tripped over the blanket and fell right into his arms.

“Well well well.” He said holding me close.

“Let me go.” I told him. He smirked and laughed.

“You’re not getting away that easily.” He told me.

I turned and bit him as hard as I could on his shoulder.

“Mmm. Now my turn.” He whispered. I tried to look at him but he leaned in and softly bit my collarbone. I felt my knees go weak.

“No fair.” I mumbled into his neck. He softly bit my earlobe.

“It’s perfectly fair.” He said in a husky whisper. “And you started it.” He added smirking.

“Draco, its 4 a.m. Please just let me sleep.” I mumbled, my face still buried in his neck.

“Where do you want to sleep?” He asked letting me go.

I looked down at the couch. “That looks just perfect.” I mumbled.

Draco whispered a spell and the couch grew three feet wider. I laid down, wrapping myself tighter in his blanket. Draco stood over me and unwrapped me from the blanket.

“Oh you’re evil.” I growled at him, glaring.

He smirked. He laid down next to me, wrapping us both tightly in the blanket. I smiled and cuddled toward him, as he held me tightly. He put his forehead against mine, looking deep into my eyes. I got gooseflesh and felt so vulnerable. He smiled a genuine smile then kissed me on the tip of my nose. “Goodnight” He whispered.

A/N- Yeah I know. Kinda a "awe" ending.

Chapter 9: Chapter Nine - A New Attraction?
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N My goodness I am so so so uber sorry! I did not mean for this to take so long to be posted. I've been so swamped with school and work and on top of that I've had major writers block. I'm sorry to everone and if you want to kick me then you can. I'm halfway done with 10 as I write this. (10.25). So it should be up in a day or two. I love you guys! I'm sorry! Enjoy! :o)

Chapter Nine

The next week passed with nothing major. Ron and Ginny were still slightly different, being careful of what they said, always giving me hugs, trying to comfort me. Harry went close to back to normal after we were up until 3 a.m. talking. Draco was just as I expected- he would be nice when it was just us, then I was back to Mudblood whenever anyone came around.

I sighed. It was Friday. I had one more class to get through- Potions, with Slytherines.

I’ll be fine if I just keep my mind on the Hogsmead trip Sunday.’ I thought, walking to the dungeons with Harry and Ron. We sat in our usual places.

“Everyone up!” Snape snapped walking into the room. After minutes of mild chaos and confusion, everyone was in new seats. Snape mumbled something about ‘house companionship’. “These are your new seats. Sit here everyday.” He barked.

“But Professor!” I started raising my hand.

“No switching. This is for the whole year. 10 points from Gryffindor for questioning my teaching.” He sneered at me.

Draco put his hand on my knee. I shook him off as he mumbled “This shall be fun and convenient.”

“Oh?” I asked sighing.

“Now we can talk in class without being suspicious, and, I piss you off.” He told me, winking.

“Mmm, great.’I mumbled, looking up to see Snape already had four inches of notes on the board.

I sighed and rushed quickly out of the class when we were dismissed. I went into my room and changed out of my school robes into a t-shirt and hip huggers. I was walking down the stairs to the common room when Malfoy walked through the portrait. I went to a working table. I stated my essay about the potion you drink as to not turn into a vampire after being bit when Draco came up behind me and softly began to rub my shoulders.

“We have a meeting tonight about the dance and to choose who does what.” He reminded me. His voice softened. “And tomorrow, the funeral. What time do you want to leave so I can tell Potty and the Weasels?”

My breath caught in my throat. I had completely forgotten. I dropped my quill and began to cry. How had I forgotten my parents? How horrible was I for forgetting my dead parents?

Draco carefully picked me up out of the chair. He set me down on the couch, then took off his school robe and wrapped it around me. He sat down and pulled me close to him. I buried my face in his chest.

“I forgot them.” I whispered into his chest. He put his finger to my chin and tilted my face towards his.

“What was that?” He asked wiping away my tears.

“I forgot about them. Its only been a week. What if I forget them for good?” I asked, accompanied by a fresh wave of tears.

“You will always remember them.” Draco whispered. “You’re just not use to seeing them while you’re at Hogwarts, so you’re not thinking of them being gone.”

I nodded and gulped back tears. After an hour I was calm and I had made a decision.

“Tomorrow I only want you coming. No Ron, no Harry, no Ginny.” I told him.

“Are you sure?” He asked confused. I nodded. Malfoy had already seen me when I was at a loss and vulnerable. I didn’t want anyone else to. To them I was strong and I didn’t want them to see me weak. Draco looked at me like he understood. We sat there in silence for ten minutes. Draco put his arm around my waist, his hand resting on my hip. I leaned on him. I looked up at him then slowly leaned in to kiss him. He put his finger to my lips, stopping me.

“No, you’re upset. This isn’t right.” He whispered.

“Since when have you been concerned about what’s right?” I asked raising my eyebrows as well as my voice. How dare he? Honestly. All he cared about was sex for Merlin’s sake.

“Now.” He said. I sighed and licked my lips.

“You’re too fucking tempting.” He mumbled. He for up from the couch and went to his room.

I watched him leave then sat there in the common room. I quickly jotted down a note for the meeting and wrote Draco a note saying I was gone to the Gryffindor common room. I left and went down the stairs. Walking into the common room I saw Harry and gave him a hug.

“You okay? C’mon let’s go talk in my room.” He said.

I shrugged and followed him. We both sat on his bed. I sighed and laid down.

“What’s wrong?” He asked.

Malfoy wouldn’t kiss me.’ My mind screamed. I shook away the thought. “I just feel so weak.” I mumbled. “I need to feel protected and safe.”

Harry laid down next to me, pulling me tight against him.

“You know I won’t let anything happen.” He told me.

But Harry dear, it already happened, they’re gone. Dead.’ My mind seemed to be having its own conversation.

I put my forehead against his collarbone.

“Do you feel safe in protected?” He asked.

No.’ “Yes.” I whispered. We both fell asleep. I woke up feeling like something wasn’t right. I opened my eyes and saw Harry. I didn’t feel right in his arms. It felt, awkward. I got up and went to the window. I head a racket downstairs making me realize why I woke up. I just turned to find the source of the noise when Draco barged in. ‘Found it.’ My mind clicked.

“Granger!” He said seeing me. I could tell he was angry.

“Sod off Malfoy.” I heard Ron say before Malfoy slammed and locked the door.

“What in bloody hell?” He asked me. Still not yet noticing Harry, whom was still sleeping peacefully. I didn’t say anything, just walked up and wrapped my arms tightly around him in a hug. I heard him sigh and felt his body relax as he hugged me back, holding me tightly. I looked into his eyes and saw pure concern. I smiled and kissed his chin. Harry snored loudly causing us both to jump and look at him. Draco looked from Harry to me with a raised eyebrow.

“I need someone to hold me, and you left me.” I whispered.

Malfoy sat there glaring at me. “I didn’t want to do something we would regret.” He said.

“Don’t worry, his arms didn’t feel right.” I whispered into his neck hugging him closer.

“You gotta stop talking into my neck like that if you know what’s good for you.” He told me.

I looked at him and smirked.

“That too.” He added. A moment later he started again. “We have a prefects meeting.”

I nodded. “You leave then I’ll wake up Harry, no need to cause more commotion by you being here when he wakes up.” I said.

He nodded and grabbed my butt, smirking before walking out of the room. I closed the door behind him and woke up Harry. He smiled and stretched.

“Hey you.” He said lazily.

“Hi, I have a meeting with the prefects. I just wanted to wake you up before I go.” I said.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me down next to him.

“You can be a little late.” He told me, smiling.

Chapter Ten

Where is she?’ My mind raced as I leaned against the wall next to the Gryffindor common room. A first year ran around the corner crashing into me, toppling to the floor. I looked down at him, unmoved.

“Watch it.” I spat at him. “Great now I have to go burn my robes.” I murmured to myself.

“S-s-sorry, M-m-m-mister M-m-malfoy>” The boy stuttered, rushing to pick up his things.

“Don’t stutter. No one can understand you when you do so.” I sneered at him.

“Y-yes sir.” He told me, frightened.

“Be off with you.” I said waving my hands, appearing bored.

Just then the portrait opened. Hermione ran out, disheveled and her hair a mess.

“Merlin Granger, put yourself together. We have a meeting to address.” I smirked as second year Slytherins walked by. I sneered at them.

“Not now Malfoy.” Hermione sighed. I looked at her raising an eyebrow. She tied her hair up and fixed her clothes.

Merlin, she’s beautiful” I thought.

“You can be a little late.” Harry said pulling me next to him on the bed.

“Harry I have a meeting.” I said standing up. Harry stood up and grabbed my waist, pulling me into his arms.

“Hey, it’s only a minute.” He whispered running his fingers through my hair.

“Harry, you know Malfoy. He’ll be pissed.” I said turning.

“He can wait a minute. And if he touches you I’ll kick his bloody arse.” Harry said turning me around to face him. He pulled me close and kissed me. His lips were rough and the kiss had too much force, hurting my lips.

“Harry!”I gasped pushing him away.

“Mmm Hermione.” He said pulling me back. I pushed him back as hard as I could and ran from the room.

“I’m late!” I called out to the looks I was getting in the common room. I opened the portrait and sighed.

“Merlin Granger, put yourself together. We have a meeting to address.” Malfoy said smirking at me.

“Not now Malfoy.” I sighed and fixed my shirt. Malfoy looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I shook my head the put my hair up. We started walking and I could tell Draco kept looking at me. I chewed my lip nervously. We turned a corner when Draco pushed me into a closet. He locked the door behind him and put on a silencing spell.

“Hermione.” He mumbled.

I chewed my lip more and tasted blood.

“What happened?” He whispered, groping for my hand. I sighed and let my weight fall onto him. He hugged me as I got lost in his smell.

“I’m nothing to Harry except an attempt to snog.” I sighed.

“What happened?” He prompted again. I sighed and began telling him everything.

“And so, uh, that’s when I ran from the room.” Hermione finished.

Bloody hell I’ll kill the Pothead who won’t die.’ I thought to myself. Hermione looked at me for comfort. I smiled and brushed the hair off her face.

“You’re bloody beautiful, you have this innocent air about you, whether you are innocent or not. Its very intriguing and tempting, he was probably going to ask you to go steady.” I told her. ‘Did I really just say that?’ My mind raced.

Hermione looked at me then softly kissed me on the lips and before I had any time to react, she pulled away.

After the meeting I went to take a shower. I walked into my room wearing a towel and saw Draco laying on my bed.

“Can I help you?” I asked getting clothes to put on.

“I thought we’d sleep in here tonight.” He told me.

“Close your eyes.” I told him, making sure he did so. I quickly dressed and did a drying spell on my hair, leaving it in curls.

“You think I’m beautiful?” I asked climbing under the covers next to him.

“You only feel right in my arms?” He asked wrapping his arms around me, pulling me close against him. I yawned and cuddled closer to him.

“I never said that.” I whispered into his chest. I heard his breath catch. I looked at him and smirked.

“No smirking. I’ll punish you about that tomorrow.” He told me half asleep., his eye barely open. I leaned on my arm on his chest and looked down at him.

“Go to sleep. Stop looking at me.”He mumbled.

I traced the line of his hair with my fingers then lightly over his jaw-line and cheek bones. I heard a “mmm” escape from deep in his throat. His eyes opened and he looked at me.

“Now you’re in for it.” He told me in a husky whisper, shifting his body so he was on top of me.

“It was all innocent, I swear.” I told him.

“I’m gonna make you feel how I do right now.” He told me. I looked in his eyes seeing only pure lust.

“No, we have to get up early. We need to sleep.” I told him. He groaned and looked at me but didn’t say anything. I moved closer to him, pulling him partway next to me and half on top of me. He put his arm around my waist, resting his hand on my hip. He softly began drawing circles with his finger. I closed my eyes and began to drift towards sleep. I felt him watching me but the circles he was drawing was treating me like that of a lullaby to an infant.

“Hermione.” I heard Draco whisper moments later. “Hermione, come on. Time to wake up.”

Suddenly I was no longer comfortable, but cold. I opened one eye to see Draco gone. The instantly his face floated inches from mine.

“C’mon get up.” He told me.

“Humph.” I sighed. “If I don’t wake up then that means none of this is true.”

“If you don’t wake up, I’m going to take your clothes off of you and put you in the shower, washing you myself. And I’m not promising to be good after the stunt you pulling last night.” He said. I could hear the grin in his voice.

“Bloody git.” I mumbled getting up.

I showered and got ready and met Draco in the common room.

“Are you sure you don’t want Potter or Weasley to come?” Draco asked. My thoughts went back to Harry the other day. I shook my head to clear my mind.

“Positive.” I mumbled.

After the funeral many people offered hugs and ‘if I ever need anything to let them know’s even thought I had no idea who most were. I held back my tears and looked at Draco who was off to the side. He looked extremely uncomfortable. I walked over to him and he smiled warmly at me.

“You okay?” I asked. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

“Shouldn’t I be asking you if you’re okay?” He said putting his arm around me.

“You look really uncomfortable.” I explained.

“As do you- holding back tears and forcing smiles.” He teased.

“Stop making this about me.” I told him.

“I’m fine. I’m just not use to being around so many,” he looked around and moved closer to me “muggles” he whispered.

I smiled and hugged him. “You’re kinda cute.” I whispered.

“Excuse me- Miss Granger?” A tall man came up to us.

“Yes?” I asked slightly moving away from Malfoy.

“Its time to read th will.” The man said. I nodded.

I sat in a small room with Draco. There was a table and sitting at it was my mom’s sister and my dad’s bother. The man read the will and basically I got everything. My mom’s sister was now my guardian and my dad’s brother was to help take care of the house and such while I was away at ‘boarding school’.

“Lastly,” the man finished, “I have a letter here for Hermione.”

I stood up and took the letter.

“I will open it when I get back to school.” I announced to curious eyes as I put it in my pocket.

Chapter 11: Chapter Eleven - The Letter
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Chapter Eleven

We all said our goodbyes as Draco and I headed for the cab. We took the cab to Hogsmead in silence. At Hogsmead we took a carriage to Hogwarts. Draco looked at me, his eyes almost bursting with caring.

“This is really happening” I choked back tears.

“Sssh, its okay.” He said hugging me close.

“Oh Draco.” I mumbled into his chest. “Why did they have to die?” I questioned. He hugged me tighter.

“They didn’t have a choice.” He whispered as the carriage stopped. I sighed and wiped my tears. I didn’t feel like facing anyone, let alone, have people ask why I was crying. We walked into the school and headed for the Head’s room. Ron and Harry walked up eyeing us suspiciously. I then realized Draco had his arm around my waist. I felt him tense next to me and him slightly pull me closer.

“Are you okay?” Ron asked keeping his eyes on Malfoy.

“Perfectly fine.” I lied, forcing a smile.

“No, ‘Mione. You’re been crying. C’mon lets go talk.” Harry said softly grabbing my hand.

“No,” I shook my head. “I really must lay down.” I told them.

“C’mon.” Draco said softly, starting to walk and pulling me a little. I nodded.

“So what? You listen to Malfoy now? Sod off Malfoy. She’ll leave when she wants.” Harry said pushing Draco away from me.

“I wanted to leave before I was even stopped. I have had a rough morning Harry, now get out of my way before you feel my wrath.” I told him as Draco stood there smirking.

“Come on you bloody prat.” I said grabbing Malfoy by the shirt and pulling him after me.

“What?” Harry asked fuming. “Shagging the ferret so he has to come with you just to sleep?”

Draco whipped around.

“Sod off Harry. You know very well I’m not shagging Draco and you’re being a jealous git because I’m not shagging you.” I told him.

Draco stopped and looked at me and Harry didn’t say anything. “I’m getting bloody tired of people accusing me of shagging Malfoy.” I stated.

“Then maybe you should start shagging me then brag about how great it is.” Draco said smirking.

“In your dreams.” I said resuming walking back to the head’s common room.

“Every night.” Draco said following me.

I sighed and fell onto the couch in the common room, taking off my coat when the letter fell out. I didn’t touch it, instead just sat looking at it. Draco sat next to me and picked it up.

“Read it.” He said hanging it to me. I sighed and took it, opening it slowly I began to read it and felt Draco’s eyes watching me carefully.

My Dearest Hermione.’ It read.
Upon reading this, it must mean on thing, we’re gone. Please do not think ever for one moment that we do not love you, no will we ever stop, even if we can’t show it anymore. Anytime the sun shines, or the birds chirp, anytime the stars twinkle, or a flower blooms, that is our lover for you. If you ever feel that you are not alone, that is us, sitting with you. Please do not mourn us, but remember us in laughter. We will always be watching you and will always be proud of you, more than can ever be described in words.
Now, we need to tell you things. Please do not be angry in us keeping these from you but trust it was for your own safety. The Granger family is a very high ranked pureblood family. When you were born, we went into hiding from the dark lord. We did not want you to become what we were. If you go to Gringgotts there are two separate vaults filled with our riches.
If you ever wondered why you had taken so naturally to magic it is because the granger blood is that of the most ancient, most powerful witches and wizards. You have only just tapped the surface of you magical potential and you will do wonderfully in anything you attempt at. If you have any questions or need help with anything, there was one family which aided us in our hiding and you should go to them. I believe they even have a boy your age. But, if needed, go to the Malfoy family.
Alas we have told you all that we have needed, please, do not have out memory because we kept this from you. Do not mourn us but remember our love.
Love forever, always, and then some-
Mom and Dad

I stared at the letter in disbelief, my mouth hanging open. I re-read it again.

I sat there and watched Hermione as she read the letter. She began to cry and I softly wiped away a tear.

“Oh Merlin.” She whispered getting further in the letter. She finished reading it and set it down, a confused look on her face.

“I’m rich.” She murmured. She turned to me. “I’m a pureblood. Your family has known all along, they helped my parents go into hiding when I was born.” She said. I raised an eyebrow. “Granger blood is the purest and most ancient.” A smile crept onto her face, I felt myself smiling too,

“Bloody hell.” she whispered.

“I would have never guessed.” I murmured.

I sat there and let it all sink in. I smiled and jumped into Draco’s arms, nearly knocking him backwards on the couch. I hugged him, burying my face in his chest, not being able to keep the smile from my face. Draco held me tightly.

“So Mister Malfoy, how does it feel to know that your past six years of tormenting me and calling me a mudblood were all in vain?” I asked sitting up and facing him, my face inches from his.

“I still feel bad.” He told me. “But wait, what about everything you’ve said to me the past six years?” I gasped and put my hand to my heart.

“I’m ever SO sorry!” I told him over dramatically. “If there is ever anything I can do to make it up to you, please let me know!”

A grin played on his lips. He smiled evilly at me. “There is one thing you can do.” He said grabbing for me just as I got p.

“No way. Just because I’m a pureblood suddenly, that doesn’t changed anything. Especially how I feel about you.” I told him as I ran from him.

“You mean how you love my unbeatable charm and dashing appearance?” He asked chasing me.

I snorted. “Charm? What charm? A huge ego and being completely in love with yourself Is not charm.” Is aid before dashing to the stairs leading to my dorm. Draco caught me and pinned me against the wall., holding me there with his body. I left my face being stone with no emotion while inside my mind was loving him being so close.

“Admit you want me.” He said so close, his lips bumped mine while he spoke.

“Never,” I told him smirking.

“I”m going to wipe that smirk right off your face.” He threatened, grinning evilly.

“Doubt it.” I said in a bored tone, sighing. Draco moved in and kissed me hungrily. I kiss him back with just as much hunger. He broke apart.

“Damn Granger.” He whispered, is breath coming in short gasps against my ear. “When did you take over my every thought and craving?”

I smirked and pushed him back against the opposite wall in the stairwell. “Probably,” I said tracing my fingers down his abs, over his chest then arms, “When you brushed against me on the train ride here.” I said pushing my body against his. I kiss him and his tongue begged for access to my mouth. I smiled the granted it.

“HERMIONE!” Someone pounded at the door- it was Harry.

A/N- I promise I'm not going to make Harry the bad guy, rapest in this story.

Chapter 12: Chapter Twelve - Too Much Too Soon
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

(I know this chapter is short- forgive me please!)

“Damn Granger” He whispered, his breath coming in short gasps against my ear. “When did you take over my every thought and craving?”
I smirked and pushed him against the opposite wall in the stairwell.
“Probably,” I said running my fingers through his hair and traced lightly over his chest and abs. “When you brushed against me on the train ride here.” I said pushing my body against him. I kissed him and his tongue begged access to my mouth. I smiled then granted it.
“Hermione.” Someone pounded at the door- It was Harry.

Chapter Twelve

I sighed and started walking towards the door. Draco grabbed me and pulled me back to him. He leaned in and kissed me. This time with less force. I ran my fingers through his hair, enjoying every minute of the kiss. He pulled away and smirked at me.

“Something to think about while you talk to Potty.” He said.

“Oh you prat.” I told him.

“Hey your friend interrupted.” He said, his smirk turning into a huge grin. He walked to his room as I walked to open the portrait for Harry.

“We need to talk.” Harry rushed in. I heard Draco snort.

“Oh hello Harry. How are you? Well that’s good. Oh me, I’m great. So you want to talk? Oh okay, let’s go sit in the common room.” I said, showing how rude he was being.

“Sorry.” He mumbled walking to the common room. I walked over and Harry sat next to me.

“What’s up?” I asked.

“Look, about the other night, I was going to ask you out but then you ran from the room. I wasn’t just being a git.” Harry said all in one breath.

I saw his emotions in his face change and turned to see Draco walking to a chair with the Daily Prophet.

“Harry, if you want to talk to me you have to deal with him too. We share a common room you know?” I said, my mind going back to the kiss.

“And the stuff I said in the hall, I didn’t mean it.” Harry said eyeing Malfoy.

“Okay.” I said not knowing anything better to say.

“Where were you two coming back from?” Harry asked.

“My parents funeral.” I mumbled.

“Oooh.” He said. “Are you okay? Anything I can do?” He questioned putting an arm around me.

“I just need some time to think. I found out some things today.” I told him.

He nodded and started to hug me but stopped. I smiled and put my arms around him hugging him tightly.

“I love you ‘Mione and I’m always here.” He said hugging me just as tightly.

“I love you too Harry. You know that.” I told him.

“I’ll let you get to your thoughts then.” He said getting up. I hugged him again and walked to the common room door.

“Bye.” I said as he left.

I walked back into the common room only to be grabbed by Malfoy. He softly kissed my neck.

“I’m going to the library.” I said walking away from him. He pouted and pulled me close to him. His eyes begging for me to stay close. I buried my face in his chest and he softly rubbed the skin on my back between my jeans and shirt.

“I still hate you.” I mumbled.

“Not as much as I hate you.” He told me.

I sighed. “I’m going to the library. I need to think.” I told him. He pulled me back and looked at me. I nodded and forced a smile. He nodded and let me go. I walked out of the common room and to the room of requirement.

“I need a place to think.” I said softly before opening the door. When I opened it, the room looked exactly like my room at home.

“Perfect.” I said smiling. I laid on my bed and hugged my teddy bear- Ralph.

“What am I doing?” I asked Ralph. “I think I’ve gone bloody insane since the plane crash. And its only been a week. It feels like a lifetime. But only a week, and look at me and Draco versus me Ron and Harry. This isn’t good. I need to back off with Malfoy. He’s the enemy for Merlin’s sake. Six years of torment thrown away and forgotten in a week? But what’s six years of torture compared to sixteen years of unsaid truths? But then again, Draco was there for me this passed week. But Harry and Ron tried to be also, I just wouldn’t let them. I don’t like this. I don’t like me. I’m not even worried about my classes this year. My final year and most important. I have to stop with Malfoy. I have to go back to me.” I decided. I set down Ralph and went towards the common room to find Draco.

“We need to talk.” I told him, walking into the common room. He nodded and waited for me to continue. “Whatever we have here, I can’t do it. I’m not myself anymore and I don’t like that. You’re the enemy, just because my parents’ died and I found out I’m pureblood doesn’t change that. I’m going back to being my bookworm self and we’ll only talk when it included heads duties. And I will sleep alone.” I finished sighing and unable to look at him. I heard him sigh and get up.

“If that’s what you want Hermione. If that’s what you want.” He said before going up to his room.

I got up and went to the Gryffindor common room. I saw Ron first talking to Seamus. I ran up and hugged him. He hugged me back tightly.

“I’m sorry about everything. I said about you and Malfoy.” Ron said.

“I’m sorry about everything I did. I haven’t been myself but I’m okay now.” I told him, still not letting go.

“Careful ‘Mione, he’s turning blue.” I heard Harry say. I turned around and gave him a giant hug.

“I’m sorry for how I’ve been lately.” I told him.

“Me too.” He whispered, hugging me tightly.

I stepped back and looked at my best friends. This is how it was meant to be. No Draco.

But what do I feel like something is missing?’ My mind questioned.

I looked around my room trying to find something to steal my attention. ‘She didn’t even mean it.’ I thought. ‘She couldn’t even look me in the eye. It’s just Granger, why should I care?’ My mind questioned. “Because you feel empty and lost without her around.” I told myself a loud. ‘I don’t want to go back to that. But I’ll give her time. I could see in her eyes she didn’t truly want this. She just doesn’t understand yet.’ I declared.

“So boys.” I said sitting down to dinner. Harry and Ron looked at me, waiting for me to continue. “How about we hang out and talk? I have a ton to fill you in on.” I told them. ‘Should I tell them about Malfoy? No, they’ll slaughter him. Temporary insanity is all it was.’ I decided.

“Hello? Nee, are you there?” Ron asked. I smiled at the new nickname.

“Yeah, sorry. You’re not gonna believe what I have to tell you though.” I said.

Ron smiled at me. “You won’t be able to get rid of us tomorrow.” He told me.

“I can’t wait.” I told him honestly. Harry put his arm around me and I could feel eyes burning into the top of my head. I looked up to see a cold glare from Draco. When we made eye contact, his look softened. I sighed and looked away. Harry caught where I was looking and turned to me.

“Is he bothering you? I could gladly beat him to a bloody pile of rubbish.” He told me.

“It’s just Malfoy, I’ve learned how to deal with him. If the git does need to be hit though, I’ll be sure to let you know.” I said smiling warmly. Harry put a defensive arm around me. I glanced back at Draco and saw him look at me then leave the great hall. I sighed and leaned on Harry.

I sighed and looked around the great hall, trying to find something other than Granger to look at. She caught me staring. How could I be so foolish? I looked back at her to see her smile warmly at him as he put his arm around her shoulders. Losing all of my appetite, I decided a walk would do some good. I went out to the lake and sat on a rock, thinking. I heard someone come up behind me but I didn’t move to see who it was. I felt someone softly rub my shoulders. I smiled.

“I knew you couldn’t stay away.” I said turning to face- Pansy? It wasn’t Hermione?

“How could I ever stay away?” She asked. I let the disappointment show on my face.

“I have to go to the common room.” I said getting up.

“But Drakie.” She said trying to sound seductive.

“So you had something big to tell us?” Ron asked as we walked into the common room. Harry raised an eyebrow in question as we all sat on a couch.

“Yeah.” I said smiling.

“AND?” Harry asked eagerly.

“Well I went to all this stuff deal with my parents’ death and such and I got this letter from them that was to be read if something happened to them before I was 18.” I paused for a minute, pulling myself together. “And in the letter, it said I’m a pure blood. I am a descendant of a very old, very powerful bloodline.” I finished.

Harry and Ron both stared at me, soaking it all in.

“No way.” Ron said smiling.

“Awesome.” Harry said hugging me.

“Malfoy will be so pissed when he finds out. He has nothing to make fun of you for.” Ron said smiling and wrapping his arms around my waist.

“There’s plenty more he could say.” I told them. Both boys looked at me questionably. “Like being an ugly bookworm.”

Ron’s mouth dropped open. “You’re beautiful, farthest thing from ugly.” He stated.

“And Malfoy is jealous you’re smarter than him.” Harry said.

“Oh.” I said. ‘He’s changed now!’ My mind screamed.

*Disclaimer-I own nothing you know***

A/N– I’m sorry its taking so long. I’ve been sick, then a ton of homework, I work 3 jobs and my mom’s birthday just passed. I’m doing as best as I can. But unlike most people who post their stories online, I write mine as I post them, so this is hard for me to think of chapters then have them be long enough. The next chapter is almost finished so when I have more time I’ll update. Sorry again it took so long! I hope you liked him. And don’t worry. This is a Hermione/Draco ship. :o)

Chapter Thirteen

I sighed. A month had passed since I told Draco I wanted nothing to do with him. I went down to the common room, thinking to get a cup of tea.

I yawned and got out of bed. I went to the mirror and smirked, looking at the dark circles under my eyes.

“Damnit Granger.” I mumbled.

I walked down to the common room and rang the bell for a house elf.

“Bring me a muffin with a small candle.” I told it.

It nodded then quickly reappeared with both. I waved it of and stuck the candle into the muffin, lighting it.

“Happy Birthday Draco,” I whispered before blowing out the candle. I heard someone and turned to see Hermione standing behind me.

“Happy Birthday Draco,” I heard him whisper. I moved to get the bell when he turned around to look at me. His expression was pained and hurt, quickly turning cold. He slowly turned back around, not saying anything.

“Is it your birthday?” I asked.

“No. I just like randomly light candles in my muffins.” He sneered at me.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I questioned.

“One- we’re not speaking. Two- I didn’t think you would care. Three- You said we’re not speaking. Four- I’m use to it being forgotten and spending it alone.” He said glaring at me.

I put my hand on his arm and he looked at me.

“What do you want for you birthday?” I asked.

“Nothing” he said getting up and walking into his room. I followed him and stood in the doorway as he climbed into his bed.

“Seriously Draco,” I started, “What do you want?”

He turned to look at me, thinking. After a few minutes he began-

“I know what.” He said smirking.

“And-?” I prompted him, raising an eyebrow.

“Promise to do so then I’ll explain.” He told me.

“No.” I told him.

“You asked,” he stated.

“How do I know you’re not doing this to break up my, Harry and Ron’s friendship?” I asked.

“Well, you might just have to trust me.” He said smiling deviously.

I missed that smile.’ I thought. ‘No you didn’t. Bad Hermione.’ I scolded myself.

“I promise.” I whispered. His smile grew slightly.

“I want you to lie.” He stated.

I looked at him confused. “What do you mean “lie”?” I questioned.

See! That is why you didn’t miss that smile. He’s e-v-i-l!’ My mind scolded me some more.

“I want you to lie.” He smirked. “For being head girl you aren’t too smart.” He teased.

“Well maybe if you gave me more information. What do you want me to lie about?” I asked.

His smirk grew wider. “I don’t want you to lie about anything.”

“Okay. I’m done with this. I’m not in the mood for your immature game. I thought I would be nice but never mind.” I said turning to leave.

“Granger, you promise. And I know you could never break a promise.” He said. I could hear the smirk in his voice.

“What do you want Malfoy?” I asked turning around to face him.

“I want you to lie, right here.” He said pointing next to him on the bed.

“WHAT?! No- I can’t- We-“ I stuttered.

“You promised.” He told me. His eyes flashed dangerously, stating he would get me to lie with him- even if it was forced.

I sighed and kicked off my slippers. One time wouldn’t hurt anything. I stiffly laid down next to him. He put his arm around me and I felt my body relax against my will. This wasn’t allowed to be so comfortable. He covered us both with a blanket and without thinking, I cuddled closer to him. ‘Bad! Bad bad bad Hermione!!’ My mind fought against my body. I felt more comfortable than I had in a while.

Draco looked at me and smiled, brushing the hair off my face.

“I haven’t slept in a month.” He whispered hugging me.

“And you said I couldn’t sleep without you.” I teased.

He smirked and pulled me closer, my whole body against his. I ended up with my head resting on his chest, hearing the soft rhythm of his heart. He softly drew circles on my back and I let out a breath I didn’t know I had been holding. I missed this, this comfort, his warmth, his smell making me drunk. I glanced up at Draco only to see him asleep and hear him slightly snoring.

I woke up feeling more comfortable and rest than I had in weeks. I felt something stir next to me and opened my eyes to see Hermione looking at me, her face inches from mine. I put my hands on her cheek and softly ran my fingers over her lips. She looked deep into my eyes and I saw her eyes fill with longer, and confusion.

“I have to do.” She whispered, tears threatening to fall.

I nodded though I secretly pleaded with her not to.

“I can’t do this.” She whispered. She got up slowly, her body shaking.

I silently got ready for the Hogsmeade trip. I would be spending the day with Harry and Ron; they were back to not letting me out of their sight. I smiled. I loved being friends with two of the hottest boys in Hogwarts. I looked at myself in the mirror. It was only Harry and Ron- they wouldn’t notice how I looked. I went to the common room just to hear Sir Luke call “Ms. Granger, there are two gentlemen here waiting for you.”
I opened the door and smiled.

“Thank you Sir Luke.” I told him.

Ron put his arm around me as we walked. We rode the carriages to Hogsmeade. First we went to the sweet shop. I smiled and watched Harry and Ron throughout the shop. Both had grown up over the summer. Ron had gotten taller and gained a lot of muscle like Malfoy- I assumed it was from playing Quidditch at the burrow. Harry had always been skinny but he also gained much muscle, though he didn’t have as much as Ron or Draco. I looked at Ron more carefully. His face had matured and his features were now more defined. I smiled. He was becoming a very handsome man. Harry still had his boyish look to him, though his constantly messy hair didn’t help the subject.

“’Mione,” Ron said waving in front of my face. I blinked at him a couple times. “C’mon we’re going to the twin’s joke shop.” He said as Harry and he lead me out of the store.

“Hey ‘Mione- what do you say we both take a love potion for each other?” Ron asked wiggling his eyebrows and winking.

I smiled sweetly and put my hands on his shoulders, running my hands lightly over his chest. “I don’t need one Ronald.” I whispered, pushing myself closer to him then winking at him.

“Well in that case…” Ron said pulling me close and kissing me. Harry gawked at both of us. We pulled apart laughing and looked at Harry.

“Gotcha mate.” Ron smiled.

“Aye, you should have seen your face Harry!” I teased.

“Hermione!” Fred and George smiled walking over to me. I smiled and hugged them both.

“Wow- you look-“
“brilliant! You sure did-“
“grow up this summer!” The twins stated. I laughed.

“I missed you guys.” I told them.

“Why didn’t you come to the burrow?” Fred asked.

“I was spending time with my family.” I told them forcing a smile.

“Why? You can see them any old time.” George said as Ron punched him.

“Not anymore.” I whispered, feeling tears come to my eyes. “I’ll be seeing you guys way more.”

“Why?” George asked. Ron hit him again. “Why do you keep bloody hitting me?”

“I’m going for a walk.” I stated turning and leaving the shop. Ron ran after me, soon catching me a block away.

“Hermione, they had no idea.” He whispered.

“I know, and they would have been more considerate had they know.” I stated.

Ron kissed me on the forehead then hugged me close. “Mmm.” I said smiling. “You remind me of Drac-“ ‘SHIT!’ My mind stopped.

“Drac? Who is Drac?” Ron asked.

I looked at him smiling warmly.

“Drac- his real name is Drake. We were best friends before I came to Hogwarts. I saw him a lot this summer.” I saved myself.

Ron smiled. “IS that good or is it bad?” He questioned.

“Good.” I told him. He smiled.

I saw Hermione leave the twin weasel shop and slowly followed in the shadows. Ron ran up to her and hugged her. I moved closer.

“Mmm, you remind me of Drac-“ I heard Hermione say.

She isn’t talking about some Drac kid- its me.’ I thought.

“I miss him.” I heard Hermione whisper, causing weasel to give her another hug. I couldn’t take it anymore.

“Well, aren’t you two so cute. Do I hear wedding bells?” I heard. I felt my face grow white.

“Sod off Malfoy.” Ron hissed, letting go of me.

“Now that you’re a pureblood Granger- I thought you might have gained some better taste.” He sneered at Ron. Looking him over in disgust. “You have to watch what you do, you know. When you were a mudblood, no one expected any better of you- now you have standards to uphold.” He smirked.

“I was never a mudblood.” I said through gritted teeth, holding back tears. Why was he being so horrible?

“What? Mummy and Daddy die and you think that changes anything? For six years you were known as trash. It’s not changing now. Trashy parents, trashy blood- sadly though, it’s pure.” He smirked looking me right in the eye.

I fell to the ground in a fit of tears. I could sense Ron next to me furious. I couldn’t breathe. How could he be so horrible? Some people never change. Who was I to think Malfoy could change? I felt someone pick me up. I caught a glimpse of red hair and knew it was Ron. He took me to Fred and George’s apartment above their shop.

Chapter Fourteen

I walked back to Hogwarts from Hogsmeade. ‘I pushed too far. Way too far.’ I walked into the school to find Blaise walking over to me.

“You alright?” He asked me.

“I messed up horribly.” I stated. Blaise was the only one who knew about Hermione. He raised his eyebrows at me in confusion. “Okay well, I figured that if I started treating her like I use to, then she’d see its better when we’re a thing…” I continued, explaining the whole situation to Blaise.

“So basically, you’re saying- you saw the boundary line, then proceeded to jump ten feet over it?” He recapped.

“Yeah.” I sighed.

“So just get back in bounds. Apologize, explain why. Say you know it was wrong and you regret it completely and you’ll do anything to make it up to her.” Blaise instructed.

I sighed and went up to the common room for a nap. I needed to think. I woke up to see Hermione straddling my waist. I was about to make a comment to her when the anger in her eyes made me change my mind.

“Look, Hermione-“ I started. She jabbed her wand into my throat, causing me to stop. ‘Oh shit.’ was all I could think.

“How DARE you even let my name past your lips?” She asked. I didn’t say anything, figuring it best to keep quiet for once.

For the first time, I was the one cornered and scared and defenseless- and I couldn’t have deserved it more.

“You listen to me and you listen to every word clearly. I may have been considered trash by you before you knew I was pure, but even then I had respect, as I do now. I EARNED every ounce of that respect” She said jabbed me with her wand with each word. I gulped.

“I didn’t have to get respect because my daddy was a death eater and I would threaten them with Voldemort. I am better than you. My respect is pure, not mudded by the dark mark.” Her wand jabbed me again. “Never in your life will you ever have a right to let anything about my parents neither pass through your thoughts nor escape you lips. You are a foul, loathsome creature Malfoy.” Her voice dripped with venom. “And I will not have you fucking up their memory.” She finished. I sat there looking into her eyes, they were now cold and emotionless. I tried to swallow the lump in my throat.

“You know.” She said thoughtfully. “I could kill you right now and no one would notice. I could do it the muggle way and they would have no proof it was me.” She stated. Though I knew she wouldn’t actually kill me. For now it was just a scare tactic.

“Don’t turn into me.” I whispered, feeling my voice catch in my throat. “Please, don’t turn into me, and treat me and I have treated you. You’re not that kind of person Hermione. You’re not a mean person. That’s what everyone loves about you.”

Hermione dropped her wand, tears spilling from her eyes. I reached a hand up to brush them away.

“Don’t. touch. me.” She growled. My hand recoiled as she got off of me and left the room.

What had I done? I had done what I needed to do. But still- Was I in fact turning into him? I did basically call him a mudblood, told him he wasn’t good enough, then threatened to kill him.’ My mind was working on overdrive.

“I have to find Harry and Ron.” I said aloud, running from the common room. I walked into the Gryffindor common room and ran over to Ron and hugged him. I couldn’t help the tears spilling from my eyes. He pulled away and looked me in the eyes and said something to me, but I couldn’t make out what he said. Suddenly everything went black. I felt a warm body next to me. I smiled and cuddled closer to it. I opened my eyes to see Ron, asleep. I smiled and brushed the hair off his face. He stirred and looked around. He spotted me then smiled and pulled me into a hug. I smiled weakly. I saw him look up and his emotions turned to stone.

“Get out” he growled looking through a break in the curtains surrounding the bed. I was in the hospital wing. I turned to see who Ron was yelling at.

“Is she okay?” I heard Malfoy ask quietly.

“Get out! This whole bloody mess is your fault!” Ron screamed. Malfoy’s face grew sad and he turned and left. I suddenly remembered everything that happened the passed few days like I had been his with the knight bus.

“Bloody hell,” I murmured burying my face in the pillow.

“Hermione.” I heard Harry whisper. I opened my eyes but couldn’t see anyone. Ron was gone and it was dark. I must have fallen asleep.

“Great now I’m going bloody insane.” I whispered.

“No you’re not.” I heard Harry whisper and suddenly he appeared next to my bed. “If Promfrey catches me, I’m dead.” He said giving me a hug. “What happened?”

“Oh Harry!” I cried into his shoulder. He laid down next to me and covered all of him except his head with his cloak. I cried on him and told him everything, everything about Draco, about the funeral, about Hogsmeade and what I did in return. I finished and he laid there staring at me. For a moment I thought he might be asleep but then his face softened and I realized he was still taking it all in.

“What do I do?” I whispered accompanied by a fresh wave of tears.

“How do you feel about Malfoy?” Harry asked.

“I don’t want anything to do with him. I thought he had changed but he hasn’t.” I said. We sat in silence for a few minutes. My thoughts drifted to Ron. He had been acting very different lately. I kind of liked it.

“Me and Gin are back together.” Harry told me with a huge grin overtaking all of his features. His smile made me smile.

“Good” I told him ruffling his hair more, if that was even possible.

The next morning I awoke to find Harry gone and the sun streaming onto my bed.

“Hermione you can go back toy our dorm now. Try to lesson your amounts of stress.” Madame Promfrey told me, handing me my clothes. I closed the curtain and changed.

“’Mione!” I heard Ron as I left the hospital wing.

“Hi Ron” I said smiling.

“You want to go for a walk around the lake?” He asked.

“No thanks. I just got out and I really wanna shower.” I told him.

“Then I’ll walk you to your common room.” He told me.

“Okay,” I said smiling.

“And, if you wanted, I could come in the shower with you, and you know, make sure nothing happens to you while you’re in there.” He said slyly.

I laughed. Since when did Ron actually know how to talk to girls?

“You can shower with me on one condition Ronald.” I stated. He looked at me with curiosity. “We both will wear our swimming suits.” He laughed.

“Okay,” He said. “Accio Swim trunks” He said as we walked past the Gryffindor common room. Ron caught them and we went to the heads common room. I went into my room and changed into my bikini. I walked into the bathroom with Ron in tow. Draco was at one of the sinks washing his face.

“Do you think, Malfoy, that we could have some privacy?” I asked.

“Yeah” Draco said sourly. He looked over at us and his eyes slowly scanned my body. Little did I know, Ron’s were doing the same. Draco glanced at Ron and his eyes flashed dangerously of jealousy. I smirked and locked the door behind him. I got in the shower in my bikini and soon after Ron followed.

“I feel like I’m five” he stated.

I laughed. “Yeah, but its kind of fun acting immature.” I said starting to wash my hair. Ron inhaled the scent of my shampoo deeply.

“So that is what makes you smell so intoxicating?” he questioned.

“I guess so.” I said smirking. Ron put soap on his hands and began to massage my shoulders.

“Are you trying to turn me on Weasley?” I asked.

“Not at all” He said smiling innocently.

“Good” I told him smiling. “I might have to kick you out of my shower if you were.”

He laughed and I smiled as he washed the soap off his hands and I rinsed my shoulders then turned off the water. I wrapped a towel tightly around myself. Ron took out his wand and cast a warming spell on both our towels. I smiled and closed my eyes, welcoming the warmth on my cold skin. I opened my eyes to see Ron pulling his clothes over his bathing suit.

“I’m gonna get back to the common room. I have ten inches due tomorrow.” He said.

“Okay. I’m going to walk around the grounds but if you need help just owl me.” I told him.

“Come here my bookworm.” He said pulling me into a tight hug. I laughed.

“I’m not a bookworm this year.” I stated.

“Is all of your homework done?” He asked.

“Yes” I told him.

“You’re still a bookworm.” He teased then kissed me on the cheek. I looked at him and his ears turned redder than his hair. I smiled then grabbed his hand, leading him from the bathroom to the common room.

“Go do your homework!” I told him smiling.

“On one condition.” He said.

I raised my eyebrows in question.

“If I get a kiss goodbye.” He stated.

Chapter Fifteen

“If I get a kiss goodbye,” Ron said.

I tried to hide my smirk. “You want me to kiss you?” I asked.

“Yeah, well I mean, I can’t very well give MYSELF a-“ He started only to have me silence him with my mouth, after a quick second I pulled away. He raised an eyebrow as if to say ‘that’s it’?

I laughed. “You asked for a kiss, not to snog.”

“I’ll be sure to remember that next time.” He said, his whole face turning bright red.

“Oh next time?” I asked walking to the door behind him.

“Yup,” He said walking out of the portrait. I turned to go to my room to change.

“Granger, I believer you owe me an apology.” Malfoy stated when I got halfway through the common room. I fixed my towel then turned to look at him.

“Excuse me?” I questioned.

“Those were some pretty foul things you said.” He smirked.

“You’re a pretty foul person.” I said smirking just as much.

“Ouch Granger, that hurts.” He said doubling over as if in pain. I glared at him and continued my walk to my room.

“So how does it feel to kiss your best friend?” Malfoy asked. I kept walking.

“Quite nice actually, better than kissing you,” I smirked, not even turning to look at him.

“Please. Anyone can just give a peck on the lips. I bet he drools while snogging., you’ll come running back to me.” He stated.

“I’d rather kiss Neville than you.” I stated. I felt him come closer to me. I did my best to keep my breathe steady, like he made no impact on me.

“So pretend I’m Longbottom.” He said in a husky whisper against my ear. I turned to face him.

“Oh Draky, that’s so cute.” I smirked and walked into my room, leaving a semi-stunned Draco. I changed and did a drying spell on my hair. I went out to walk around the lake.

“That’s so cute?” I repeated to myself. ‘I know, I’ll just make her jealous, play hard to get, snog girls in front of her, everything. ’ My mind raced.

“Damnit. Why does she have this effect on me?” I questioned aloud.

I walked around the lake with my mind wandering through recent events.

Since when was Ron so good with girls?’ I wondered. I went back to the castle and to the Gryffindor common room looking for Harry. I saw Harry and Ginny sitting on the couch.

“Where’s Ron?” I asked.

“In his room” Harry stated.

“I wanted to talk to you two.” I said looking around the room to see who was around.

“What about?” Ginny asked, now curious.

“Ron” I said “He’s been really sly and cute and un-Ron-like with me. It’s weird. He’s starting to seem like Malfoy.” I said.

“He had a lot of flings over summer holiday.” Ginny said.

“Yeah, I heard stories. I’d be careful because he even cheated on a few.” Harry said.

I sat down. “Okay, thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.” I said getting up a moment later. “I think I’m gonna go take a nap. I’ll see you guys later and thanks.” I said walking out the door. My mind was racing and I wasn’t watching where I was going when I bumped into someone.

“Sorry,” I mumbled. I tried to walk past but stopped when they had not moved their hands from my waist. I turned around. I smiled when I saw it was Ron and let our a breath I didn’t know I have been holding.

“I thought you were in your dorm doing your parchment. That’s what Harry and Ginny said.” I told him confused.

“Ah, they were snogging when I left and I didn’t want to interrupt. I actually though, was looking for you.” He said slinking his arm around my shoulders.

“Oh really? Why for?” I asked, becoming curious.

“Because I need my bookworm to help me write my parchment,” He said smiling at me.

“Of course you would only be looking for me for that.” I said.

“No I didn’t mean it like that. If I just needed help I could’ve asked anyone. I wanted your help.” He said.

“Okay.” I said sighing as we walked back to the Gryffindor common room.

“I thought you were going to take a nap.” Harry said upon seeing me walk back in with Ron.

“I’ve been recruited to help ickle Ron with his parchment.” I said glancing at Ron.

“All my stuff is in my room, let me go get it.” Ron stated, walking to the stairs to his dorm. I looked around the noisy common room.

“We could just go up there. It’s probably quieter.” I said following him. Ron nodded as we went upstairs. I sat on his bed and he moved his things to make room for both of us and his parchment.

“What’s it about?” I asked glancing over his stuff.

“D.A.D.A.- the vampire essay.” He said.

“Do you have the notes I gave you?” I asked kicking off my shoes and pulling my feet up next to me.

“Umm yeah…” He said searching through his bag. “Here” he said upon finding them.

“That should have everything you need in it.” I said yawning. I laid on his bed curling into a ball so I didn’t get in the way of his writing.

“Done” Ron stated 35 questions and an hour later.

“Yay” I mumbled yawning. Ron put his books on the floor and laid next to me. I yawned again and look at him as he brushed some hair off my face.

“And why are you so tired?” He asked me.

“I haven’t been sleeping too well.” I stated.

“And why is that?” He questioned.

“I don’t like being alone.” I mumbled, my eyes fighting to stay open. Ron snaked his arms around my waist and pulled me close so our bodies were touching and our legs entwined. I buried my face in his shirt smiling and smelling his scent.

“You’re not alone now.” He whispered, closing the drapes around his bed.

I laid on top of him, my elbows resting on his chest and my hand on my hands, looking down at him. “You grew over the summer.” I stated running my fingers through his hair. He flipped both of us over and looked down at me.

“So did you.” He said smiling.

I looked at him innocently. “No I didn’t.”

A smiled played at his lips as he leaned in and kissed me. “I don’t believe you” He whispered, his lips brushing against my ear. He laid down next to me, his arm lying across my stomach. I turned on my side and looked at him.

“I just want to know what happened in America and where this new Hermione came from.” He said.

“Well, my cousin is a lot different than me. And she rubbed off on me this summer. We went to clubs, had flings and one night stands. Partied all night with people whom we didn’t even know their names, drank, smoked, other things. I mean, I’m still the same Hermione, I’ve just eased up a bit.” I said.

Ron looked at me with curiosity dancing through his features.

“What happened during these one night stands?” He asked.

“Just major snogging,” I said.

“Did you-“ He started.

“No. I didn’t shag anyone.” I said, I felt his body relax and relief wash over his face. “Well I mean, that I can remember at least.” I teased winking at him.

“Well okay then,” He said starting to get up.

“Oh, c’mon Ron I was only kidding with you.” I said pulling him back next to me. “By the way,” I said tapping his nose. “I heard someone had his fair share of fun this holiday too.”

His face turned beat red.

“So don’t give me any guilt trips. I didn’t cheat on anyone.” I said playfully, my face inches from his.

“I didn’t cheat on her, we weren’t dating.” He said innocently.

“Did you explain that you weren’t dating before you got caught?” I asked.

“No.” He mumbled, breaking eye contact. I smiled at him.

“You’re kind of cute when you’re embarrassed.” I said then kissed him. I could feel him smile against my lips, then in turn causing me to do the same. I broke the kiss and cuddled close to him, laying my head on his chest.

I woke up feeling someone’s hand under my shirts, resting on the small of my back. I slowly sat up and looked at Ron. I softly began to scratch his stomach to wake him up. After a few minutes he stretched then lazily opened his eyes.

“Hey,” he said letting his hand fall on my knee when he was finished stretching. I yawned then laid back down on my stomach, my head resting against his shoulder.

I heard some commotion from the common room. “How can they be having another party? They had one last night.” I mumbled into his neck. Just then someone walked in to the boy’s dorm, locking the door behind them. Suddenly the curtains on Ron’s bed were ripped open, presenting a very disgusted looking Malfoy. His hair was falling into his eyes which had fire in them.

“Isn’t this cozy” Malfoy smirked.

“Fuck off ferret.” Ron said before yawning.

“I just have some things to discuss with my lovely Hermione. It will only be a second.” Malfoy growled. My stomached fluttered.

“I’m not yours you bloody wanker.” I snapped.

“Whatever. Considering you decided to skip out on the meeting an hour ago- here is everything about the dance. And you now have no say in the matter.” He smirked, thrusting parchment at me.

“How kind of you,” I said with my voice dripping with venom.

“Now if you don’t mind, hell even if you do-“ Ron said closing the curtains around his bed blocking Malfoy from us. I heard Malfoy leave, slamming the door behind him. I grabbed one of Ron’s pillows and buried my face in it. I screamed until I felt Ron softly rubbed my back. I sighed and curled up next to Ron. He was reading something.

“This actually doesn’t seem too bad.” Ron said handing the parchment to me.

“Everyone is to wear a mask concealing their identity throughout the night they are not allowed to state who they are. No dates allowed. Dress with be muggle formal (Tux’s for guys, gowns for girls.) The dance will be from 7 until midnight.” I read. I skimmed over who was in charge of what. “And I’m in charge of decorations. With Pansy?!” I almost screamed.

“Okay other than the pug part, it looked good.” Ron said trying to make me feel better.

“He’s punishing me. He bloody wants me dead.” I stated.

“Decorations will only take 20 minutes. You’re a witch, remember? And if she tried to start anything- hex her.” Ron said hugging me.

I sighed and laid back down.

Chapter Sixteen

“I’m going to go back to my room.” I said. “I’ll see you tomorrow at breakfast.” I gave Ron a hug and fixed my clothes and hair before going to the common room.

“See you tomorrow Harry, bye Ginny!” I told them as I walked out. I took the long way back to the head commons. My mind reeled back to the Hogsmeade trip. ‘Why was Draco being so mean? He was fine before. ’ I though. My mind clicked. ‘I told him he was still the enemy and always would be. Shit’ I sighed and leaned against the wall. ‘He wasn’t too bad, as long as I didn’t make him mad. Maybe we could decide a truce. ’ I shook my head to clear my thoughts and walked into the common room. I turned, only to see Draco- and a second year Slytherin? – On the couch. I rolled my eyes and grabbed Draco by the back of the neck, pulling him off of her.

“What in bloody hell Granger?” Malfoy yelled. I tightened my grip on the back of his neck, digging my thumb into one of his pressure points.

“You,” I said pointing at the girl with my free hand. “Get out,” I said glaring.

“Whatever,” She said getting up and leaving. I let go of Malfoy and went to ring the bell for a house elf. Before I could even make it to the table, Malfoy grabbed me and threw me against the wall, causing me to hit my head. Tears stung my eyes before I could even comprehend what had happened. I went to feel for blood but couldn’t move my arms. I opened my eyes to see Malfoy’s face inches from mine and he had a tight grip on my elbows, holding me there.

“Don’t you ever do that again Granger, if you know what’s good for you.” He stated, his eyes burning into mine.

“She was too young. Now tell me, am I bleeding?” I said turning my head. Malfoy growled, pushing me harder into the wall forcing me to look at him. We sat there staring at each other for what felt like hours.

“You bug me.” I stated, breaking the silence.

“You don’t even want to know what you do to me.” He stated in a deep whisper. I sighed.

“You know what? I just want some ice cream and to see if I’m going to die due to loss of blood. Let me check and get some ice cream and then you can stare at me okay?” I told him. He ran his fingers through my hair and showed them to me.

“No blood.” He said letting me go and walking away. I went to ring for an elf and a minute later I had ice cream in my hand. Malfoy started toward his room.

“No no no no no. I’m not done with you.” I said pushing him against the wall. “Since when do you not have a shirt on?” I asked, realizing he was only in baggy sweatpants.

“Since before you kicked Meganne out,” he smirked.

“She’s too young,” I said again taking a bite of my ice cream. “Oh yeah,” I said angrily pointing my spoon in his face. “Why am I paired with Pansy to decorate?”

He smiled innocently at me, “You didn’t show so I had to punish you.”

“Bloody arse,” I said walking away. I went to an overstuffed armchair in front of the fire then curled up to eat. Upon finishing my ice cream I went to the head’s private library. I found a good book then laid on the floor in the common room in front of the fire wrapped in a blanket.

“Don’t you look comfy?” Malfoy stated sitting on the couch.

“Yup, wanna join?” I asked absentmindedly as I turned the page.

“Your Weasel might get mad at me.” He said, soon hiding himself behind the Daily Prophet.

“He’s not mine.” I said going back to my book.

“Oh, so you go around shagging guys without commitment or a title.” He asked, revealing his face only to smirk.

“Sod off, I was helping him with homework.” I said turning back to my book and beginning to read.

“Could you help me with my homework?” He whispered, this time much closer, his breath hot on my ear.

“You’re like a pesky bug that won’t go away.” I said swatting in the direction of his voice without removing my eyes from my book.

“Buzz,” he whispered in my ear moments later.

I turned and looked at him. “Are you done?” I asked.

“Not quite.” He smirked.

I rolled my eyes and turned back to my book.

“Have you ever been a fan of bug bites?” He asked nibbling on my neck. I turned around and glared at him.

“You’re so fun to anger” He said smiling deviously at me.

I smirked at him, “Just wait until I strike back.” I warned.

“Mmm, I don’t think I can wait.” He said licking his lips.

I rolled my eyes again and went back to my book. An hour later I finished my book and wrapped myself in my blanket and yawned.

“I’ll go to bed in a few minutes.” I stated.

The next morning I awoke curled up next to a warm body. I cuddled closer and smiled when their grip on my tightened slightly. I yawned then fell back into sleep.

“If you don’t get your lazy arse up now, you won’t have time to shower before breakfast.” Someone said as I felt something jabbing my side. I squirmed away and opened my eyes to see Malfoy standing over me. His hair was loosely hanging over his eyes as he looked down at me. My eyes traveled down to his bare chest, arms and abs, all flexing as his fists were clenched.

“What are you angry about?” I asked.

“Don’t care to tell you.” He stated walking away. I sat up and threw my hair into a messy bun when I saw Draco punch the wall then heard a loud cracking noise.

“Oh bloody brilliant.” I heard Malfoy murmur.

I looked up to see him glaring daggers at his hand. I got up and walked over to him. I glanced at his hand, knowing right away it was broken. I got ice from an elf.

“I know how to fix it, it just can’t have this much swelling for the spell to work.” I stated.

“I don’t need you help.” Draco stated walking towards the stairs to his room. I put my hand on his shoulder and stopped, turning to look at me. I let my hand fall down his back. His eyes were filled with anger.

“I’m perfectly fine.” He said through gritted teeth.

“Then make a fist.” I told him. He tried to make a fist but his hand barely moved. His eyes momentarily flashed of pain but quickly returned to their cold, angry state. I gave him a pleading look then he huffed and sat on the step. I sat on the floor and gently wrapped his hand, then said the spell to mend it.

“It will take an hour or two to heal fully, until then try not to use it.” I told him. My eyes searched his; he stared back daring me to look away. “What has you so angry?” I asked. He broke eye contact first, losing his own game.

“You still have time to shower before breakfast. I have to change.” He said getting up and walking to his room. I heard him put on the silencing spell, I sat there for a moment before running to go shower. I dried my hair then put on makeup along with jeans and a Gryffindor sweater. I draped my robes over my shoulder before going downstairs. I looked around for Malfoy, having not heard him leave. I went up to his room the knocked on the door. After not getting an answer I remembered the silencing spell he put up. I tried the door knob and it opened. I looked in to see his room a mess, things thrown everywhere. In the center was Draco, sitting on his bed with his head in his hand, while nursing the other.

“I’m not in the mood.” He mumbled.

I sat next to him and waved my wand, putting everything in its proper place.

“What happened?” I asked.

“She’s pregnant. Pansy is bloody carrying my child.” He hissed his whole body tensing.

Chapter Seventeen

"Bloody pregnant," Draco mumbled.

"How?" I asked.

"Well Granger, when two people shag and the anti-pregnancy charm is unknowingly removed by one party, this shit happens." He stated glaring at me.

I softly rubbed his arm in a comforting way.

"She's a few months along she says, the potion turned from black to pink, stating a baby." He said sighing.

"How do you know it's yours?" I asked.

"She swore I was the only one ever." He sighed, running his fingers through his already disheveled hair.

"What will you do?" I asked.

"I'm going to marry her." He stated, looking like every ounce of him had been drained.

"Well you don't have to do it right away; something could happen where she ends up not having the baby." I said. Draco's face lit up. "I will not let you kill it." I said hitting him.

"Ow, and I wouldn't." He told me.

"Come one, let's get you some food." I said getting up.

"Humph." He grunted falling onto his back on his bed.

"Oh come on you git." I said grabbing the front of his shirt and attempting to pull him up. He smirked then kicked my foot, causing me to fall, my face stopping inched away from his.

"Sorry, I like top." He said flipping us over. "Even though I don't mind you being on top, feels kind of nice." He said winking at me. 'Since when did Draco Malfoy wink?' my mind questioned.

"Get off you Wanker! You have a kid now! No more fucking around." I said trying to push him off.

"The kid isn't born yet." He said putting more of his weight on me. "And I'm not married yet." He played with one of my curls.

"Though I feel privileged you would choose to snog me-"

"Not just snog you," Draco interrupted.

"I'm afraid the mere thought of it makes me want to vomit. Now if you would kindly remove yourself from me before I force you, I would like something to eat." I stated.

"See, I like watching you get riled up, so that speech did not help you any." He stated. I rolled my eyes, trying to push out of my minds the things I wanted to do to him.

"Drakie!" I heard someone screech.

"You gave her the password?!" I whispered dangerously.

"No! Oh bloody hell." He murmured getting up. He left his room and I quickly ran through the bathroom to my room and walked to the common room.

"Malfoy, can you please keep the whore visits to a minimum? I mean, the five last night and now this? It's getting out of hand." I stated, crossing my arms over my chest in an angry stance.

"Drakie! Did you hear what she called me?" Pansy screeched.

"Yes? So? She's a pureblood. She can say whatever she wants about you." Draco said rolling his eyes.

"But I'm a Malfoy now," Pansy said latching onto his arm.

"Not yet," He said shaking her off. I smirked.

"Geeze Malfoy. Six whores in two days when you're getting married soon? I'm impressed, most guys wouldn't be able to even handle the 'getting married soon' part," I said.

"Six girls?!" Draco Malfoy how dare you!" Pansy yelled slapping him before marching out of the room, loudly slamming the door behind her.

"I don't if I should be mad you got me slapped, or happy you got her to leave." Draco said rubbing his cheek.

I got my food from the house elf. "I really don't care." I stated sitting down.

He smirked. "You're turning into me," He stated eating a piece of bacon off my plate.

"Am not," I said glaring at him.

Two weeks went by and now it was a few days before the dance. I looked at my dress and matching mask and smiled. I went to the Gryffindor commons to find Ron, Harry and Ginny. Today Ron and I had been dating a week. I smiled as I spotted him and Harry playing wizards' chess. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders from behind and softly kissed his ear. I started to move away when he grabbed my hand and pulled me back to him.

"Hey you," He said smiling and kissing me. I smiled and kissed him back. I heard Harry clear his throat and broke the kiss.

The day of the dance, classes got canceled and I was in the great hall waiting for Pansy to decorate. I heard people talking by the doors and went to see who it was. Seeing it was Pansy and Millicent I stopped to listen.

"Yeah, and he actually thinks I'm pregnant, so he's going to marry me!" Pansy said.

"You're not pregnant?" Millicent asked, astonished.

"Nope, oh I'm late I got to do this."

I quickly went to the other side of the hall. "Let's get this over with Granger." She said walking in.

After an hour the whole room was decorated in orange, black, green and purple. There were also jack-o-lanterns placed around the room as the main source of light. Once I got to the common room, I found Draco still asleep in his bed. I jumped on his straddling his waist.

"Wake up!" I said shaking his shoulders.

"Go away Hermione." He mumbled not opening his eyes.

"Get up!!" I said shaking him some more.

"Bloody hell what?! Are you going to try and kill me again?" He mumbled. He opened his eyes and smirked at me. "you really want to ride me don't you?"

"Yes because I'm sure my boyfriend will just love that one." I stated. Malfoy's smirk didn't falter.

"What's so important that you had to wake me up?" He growled.

"Weeelll" I drawled out. "I have some news that could completely change your life due to your current situation you were thrown into, but I mean if you're going to be a git about it…" I trailed off, starting to get off of him.

"What do you know?!" He asked pulling me back and onto the bed next to him. He leaned over me and my eyes trailed over his bare chest and abs. He smirked at me knowing full well I was checking him out.

'Ron needs to take his shirt off more often.' I thought.

"What do you know?!" He asked again, his eyes staring into mine. I smirked at him.

"If you use my smirk once more, I swear I'm going to snog you senseless then tell your little Weasel that you threw yourself at me." Draco stated, his eyes flashing dangerously.

I laughed. "See? You're being a git so why should I tell you?" I asked poking him in the chest with each syllable for added enthusiasm. He looked at me for a moment without saying anything. "I have to go get ready for the dance so if you would kindly remove yourself." I said beginning to squirm under him.

"The more you move the less it helps you. Now tell me." He said his voice getting huskier. I laughed and tried to push him away.

"No. I changed my mind." I said laughing.

"If you're expecting me to beg to get this answer out of you, you won't ever hear it. Malfoy's don't beg. But I am moments away from hexing you." He said, his eyes flashing dangerously. I leaned forward so my face was only a few inches away from his. I smiled and looked deep into his eyes.

"She's not pregnant. It's all a trap to get you to marry her so she can take everything." I stated.

"No." he said.

I nodded.

A huge smile crept onto his face, overtaking all of his features and he leaned in and kissed me. I felt my emotions taking over. If I ever wanted to end the kiss, I had to right now. I broke the kiss and looked at him. He looked like a child at Christmas.

"I have a boyfriend Draco." I said sternly.

"Rush of emotion, couldn't help it." He said shrugging. Once again his eyes flashed dangerously. I felt my heart skip a beat.

"I have a dance to get ready for so do you mind?" I asked making my voice as steady as possible.

"Mmm" he mumbled rolling onto his back next to me. I got up and walked to the door. "Hermione." He called after me. I turned to look at him raising my eyebrows. "Thanks." He said sitting up and looking at me. I nodded then turned and walked back to my room. I had four hours before I had to be ready for the dance so I went to Gryffindor commons to find Ron. I smiled when I saw him napping on the couch in front of the fire. Is at next to him and softly began scratching his stomach to wake him up. A faint smile spread across his lips as his hand reached mine, intertwining our fingers. He opened his eyes lazily.

"Good morning sunshine." I said smiling.

"Hey beautiful." He said looking up at me. "Shouldn't you be getting ready for the dance?"

"It's only three now, I only need like an hour or two to get ready." I said.

He sighed. "We should meet up some how." I nodded.

"How about if we meet at the great hall doors at 7:05?" I asked.

"Okay." He said hugging me, pulling me down next to him. I smiled and hugged him close. I fell asleep to Ron rubbing my back only to awake from his snoring. I looked at the clock. 5 o'clock. I gently scratched his stomach to wake him up.

"Humph?" He groaned.

"I got to get ready. Remember- 7:05." I told him then kissed him softly. He smiled then nodded. I got up and went to the common room. I stopped to have a little chat with Sir Luke before disappearing to begin getting ready inside.

Chapter 18: Chapter Eighteen - The Dance and the Heartbreak
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- This Chapter is dedicated to fairgirl and caity both of whom review almost every chapter. (And of course to my wonderful beta iLOV3DRACO!) Alas- Enjoy.

Chapter Eighteen

I began getting ready for the dance. I quickly showered then charmed my hair to be pinned up in spiral curls. I did my make up with thin black eyeliner and mascara and matching pink lip-gloss and eye shadow. I looked at my dress hanging up. It was a light pink strapless dress. A white silk ribbon went across the top inch, matching the simple beaded pearl design on the dress. I put it on then realized I needed help lacing and tying up the back. I bit my lip hoping Draco was still around. I went out to the common room to see him wandering around in only his dress pants and shoes, no shirt.

"Malfoy, can you lace up my dress?" I asked. He jumped when he heard my voice and turned to me, his mouth falling slightly open. I turned around as he walked over and he laced up my dress. I was amazed at how light his fingers were and shivered as he ran his fingertips over my back. He grabbed my shoulders and turned me around.

"Wow Granger, you actually look like a girl." He smirked, looking me up and down.

I smirked and looked at Hermione. Her dress was tight around her chest and waist but then began to poof out at her hips. The light color of the dress made her skin look a soft olive color. The little bit of black makeup made her brown eyes seems even deeper and more soulful. I saw her eyes carefully scan over my chest and abs; I smirked again.

"You do have a boyfriend, Granger." I reminded her.

"I know." She stated smirking, "I was just thinking of how much better he looks than you."

I laughed. "Whatever you want to think," I said walking into my room to finish dressing.

I went to my room and got my mask. It was light pink like my dress with the same beaded pearl design. I said the incarnation to conceal my identity, changing my hair and eye color, and the spell to keep my mask on until midnight without string. At 7:00 I left to go to the great hall. I waited for Ron until 7:30, when he still hadn't shown, I went into the dance anyway. I smiled, seeing everyone dance together reminded me of the clubs in America. I went to the middle of the dance floor and began dancing with a boy who had black spiked hair and the deepest chocolate brown eyes I had ever seen. I put my arms around his neck as he pulled me closer, our bodies moving to the fast pace of the song. We locked eyes and silently agreed we would be each others' dance partner for the rest of the night. I wasn't complaining though, he was a good dancer- seeming to know my moves as soon as I did and know when to move with me. Before I knew it, it was nearly midnight and it was the last dance. My partner pulled me in for the slow dance, but kept me far enough away to not feel uncomfortable. I then realized as the song ended that I was thirsty from dancing the whole night and went to get water. At midnight I watched as everyone changed back into themselves. I laughed, seeing my black haired, brown-eyed dance partner slowly form into Draco.

"Of course" I sighed, looking around for Ron. I found him off in the corner, Pansy sitting in his lap, snogging his brains out.

I walked over and smiled sweetly at them. "Looks fun, thanks Ron, I love you too." I turned from the scene, slowly losing control of my cool façade. Kicking off my shoes I began running as fast as my feet would carry me to my common room. Draco, now being able to read my emotions like a book, followed right behind me, calling after me. I quickly slammed the portrait behind me and fell onto the couch in a fit of sobs. I heard someone enter the portrait.

"Go away." I choked out. They didn't say anything. Suddenly I felt someone lift me up so I was standing then pulled me tightly against him. "Draco," I whispered.

He picked me up and carried me to his room. He muttered a spell, changing me from my dress into a shirt and boxers of his. He tucked me into his bed then changed from his tux into a pair of sweatpants. He grabbed and extra pillow from his bed and conjured up a blanket and some cushions to sleep on the floor. I cried myself to sleep only to awake the next morning with sore eyes and a horrible headache. I looked at the light shining in and wished it would never be sunny again. I reached for my wand to close the blinds but soon noticed it wasn't beside my bed on the table. I opened my eyes more to reveal I was in Draco's room, in his clothes. I searched around for him then sighed when I saw him still asleep on the floor next to me. Still feeling quite tired and confused, I fell back into my deep sleep. I awoke again to see the room was pitch black. I wrapped his comforter around me and walked out into the common room to see Draco reading on the couch by the fire.

"She wakes," He teased.

I glared at him without saying anything. "Did you slip me deep sleep potion?" I asked, remembering my deep dreamless sleep.

"Only like, two drops, didn't want you dreaming and upsetting yourself." He said watching me cautiously. I sat on the couch next to him.

"I feel like I flew into a wall." I mumbled.

"You kind of look like you did." Draco said smirking playfully. He slipped his arm around my waist and I leaned onto his shoulder.

"So," He said casually, "You want me to hex the Weasel?"

I shook my head 'no' feeling tears well up in my eyes. Suddenly there was pounding at the door. I sighed. Draco got up and looked at me.

"Any rules as to who can or can't come in?" He asked curiously.

"I don't even care anymore." I said sighing, and laying on the couch.

He walked over and opened the door. I saw a bit of red hair and knew it was Ron.

"I need to see Hermione." He said frantically, trying to get around Draco.

"No," Draco said simply, not moving.

"What? Did she tell you not to let me in?" Ron questioned, getting annoyed.

"Nope, I just don't want you talking to her." Draco stated. I could hear the smirk in his voice.

"Oh sod off Malfoy." Ron said attempting to push passed Draco.

"Don't think so." Draco said before forcefully shoving Ron out of the doorway and slamming the portrait in his face. Draco walked over to me and I smiled weakly at him. I could feel my tears holding back, threatening to break free without warning. I sniffled which caused them all to slide quickly down my cheeks. Draco softly wiped my tears away, not saying anything. After I stopped crying Draco tightly wrapped his arms around me. A memory flashed into my mind.

"You know that night I slept out here a few weeks ago?" I asked him.

"Yeah," He said sourly. "That was the night before Pansy told me she was pregnant."

"What did you ever do about that anyway?" I asked curiously.

"Put a hex on her so that the next time she shags someone, the anti-pregnancy charm will fail." He said smirking.

"Isn't that a little much?" I asked.

"I honestly don't think it is enough." He said, "I mean, removing the charm doesn't necessarily mean she'll get pregnant, and Merlin, Hermione, I almost married her. I should've done more."

We sat there in silence for a few minutes.

"So what were you saying about that night?" Draco asked, getting me to continue my story.

"I had this dream that I was sleeping in someone's arms. And they made me feel safe like I do in yours." I told him.

"That wasn't a dream. I slept with you that night." Draco said sheepishly.

I looked at him in awe.

"I couldn't help it. You looked so inviting, all alone, shivering." He told me. I got up and sat in a chair on the opposite side of the room.

"Oh don't even tell me you're mad." He said. When I didn't answer he sighed dramatically, "Look, I didn't see the big deal, we've slept together before, you didn't have a boyfriend or anything and you said you feel protected in my arms." He defended himself.

"But you did it without my knowledge or permission." I stated sternly.

"You were shivering so I went to lay with you until the warming spell started to work and when I went to leave you pulled me closer, so, I thought that meant I could stay." He said.

"How do I know you're not lying?" I asked.

"Seems like you're just going to have to trust me," Draco said smirking slightly.

"Why do you always say that?" I asked quietly. I felt Draco walk up close to me.

"Because you always seem to question whether or not you should trust me," He said softly pulling my hair away from my face and neck. I tilted my head back to look at him and he smiled.

"I trust you." I whispered.

"You always say that." He told me.

"This time I mean it. From now on I will trust whatever you say or do." I stated honestly. But suddenly I had the saying 'fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.' Repeating through my mind and I was beginning to question how much of my trust he deserved after all these years and everything we've gone through.

Chapter 19: Chapter Nineteen - Scenes In the Hallway and Cornered in the Library
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long. It's exam week and I had a little extra time so I posted. >.< I've been scheduled a TON of hours at work for the next week so I'll update as soon as I have enough time to type up chapters! I made this one a little longer. ;o) Enjoy!

Chapter Nineteen

I smiled and stretched. Today was Monday. I had always loved Mondays, getting back to organization and schedules after a hectic weekend. I showered and walked down to the great hall with my hair in soft neat curls, wearing jeans and a white t-shirt with my robes draped over my shoulders. Everyone must know what happened with Ron and me, especially with all eyes on Pansy because she was "pregnant". Sure they would be talking but I would be able to face them today. I was starting to feel like my old self. I sat down across from Harry and Ginny soon came and sat next to me. Ginny pulled me into a hug.

"We did warn you." Harry told me, careful of his tone to still sound concerned, not taunting.

"I know," I said smiling slightly, "I mean, I was upset all day yesterday, but we weren't dating for too long, and I'm more upset about the loss of friendship. I mean if he's so willing to lose all of that friendship, for Pansy? Hell I should just let it go because I now know where I stand." I finished.

I finished eating and stood to leave when I felt someone's hands on my shoulders from behind.

"Ron, I don't want to talk right now." I stated. His grip on my shoulders tightened slightly. Without looking I turned around and punched him in the face. After the punch I looked to see Malfoy with a bloody nose, not Ron.

"Bloody hell, Granger," I heard Malfoy murmur walking out of the hall. I turned back to the table to see Ron sitting where I had just been. I rolled my eyes and left the great hall looking for Draco. I found him walking out of the hospital wing.

"I'm so sorry! Are you okay? I thought you were Ron!" I fired at him, rushing over to look at his nose. I kissed his forehead then nose then cheek frantically.

"Hermione" He said, grabbing me and holding me away at arms length. "As much as I love the attention and kisses, I'm not made of glass. I'm fine, it's okay." He told me, "You just need to bloody stop hitting me in the face" he said laughing.

I threw my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.

"We have potions soon and a first year is gawking at us." He mumbled into my ear. We summoned our books and made our way to the dungeons. "Well at least in this class you're assigned to sit next to me." Draco added smirking as we walked in to the class.

For the first time potions was bearable as Malfoy cracked jokes about Ron through the length of class, making even the Gryffindors laugh. I walked by myself from potions knowing Malfoy would keep an eye on me.

"Hermione, I need to talk to you." Ron said grabbing my wrist.

"Well, well, well Weasley. First you go after my seconds then you have to use force to get girls to look at you. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Leave Granger alone, can't you see you disgust her and she wants nothing to do with you?" Malfoy growled coming up behind me.

"Oi, 'Mione, shagging Malfoy now?" Ron said as Malfoy grabbed my wrist from him. Malfoy started to say something but a smirk played at my lips and I secretly checked the hall to see it empty except us. I snaked my arm around Malfoy's waist.

"What does it matter to you whom I'm shagging Weasley? Draco is a better friend then you ever were, and a better kisser." I stated pulling Draco's lips to mine. We pulled apart and Draco smirked at Ron, playing with the buttons on my shirt.

"Now sod off Weasel so I can have my way with her before herbology." Malfoy said undoing the bottom buttons on my blouse. Ron's eyes got wide and he quickly turned and walked away.

"Draco." I said swatting at him as he continued to undo my blouse.

"We do have some time." He stated. I fixed my shirt.

"No Malfoy." I said.

"Don't you think that that scene was risky? I mean by the end of the day, we could have all of Hogwarts thinking we're shagging." He said.

I laughed, "No one would believe it. They would just think Ron made it up to get back at me or something."

"Hermione!" I turned to see Harry running towards us. "Malfoy," he said coldly.

"What's up?" I asked.

Harry glanced at Malfoy. "Oh Harry just get used to him. He's going to be around a lot." I said.

"Are you dating?" Harry asked. I then noticed Draco's arm still around my waist.

"You git!" I said laughing and pushing him away, he shrugged. I turned back to Harry. "No, we just did that to freak Ron out and get to him leave me alone. But we've learned to deal with each other. He is actually sufferable." I stated.

"Admit it. You love me Hermione." Draco joked.

"Not even I have enough love for an ego half as big as yours." I told him, facing him.

"But at least it's a good looking ego. It doesn't really need love; it just feeds off of jealousy. But it could use a pretty girl to help it grow." He said pulling me close against him.

"Please," I said pushing him away "Any bigger and it would explode, sending little chunks of Draco confidence everywhere."

"You're quite the nasty little pureblood," He stated.

"It's better than a ferret!" I taunted in a singsong voice.

Harry laughed and we both looked at him, remembering he was there.

"Come on 'Ne, we're gonna be late for herbology." Harry said grabbing my hand. I started walking with him. "Come on Malfoy." Harry said turning towards him.

Draco walked over as Harry put his arm around me.

"Bloody hell I'm becoming friends with Gryffindors, better yet, with Harry bloody Potter." Draco stated dramatically.

"Oh shush," I said pushing him. "You know you have always wanted to be part of our wonderful group."

"Who would've thought I'd be part of the 'Golden Trio'?" Draco laughed as we made our way to the greenhouses.

All through class I kept getting notes from Harry or Draco making the class pass quickly. After class I went to the library to finish my homework for each class. I looked to find my usual spot empty with little traffic and smiled as sat down. I spread out my books over the table and began my herbology essay. Halfway through, I stopped, feeling a pair of eyes on me. I looked up only to make eye contact with Ron.

"Why do you have to be such a bloody bugger?" I asked annoyed.

"Wanna at least let me explain now that you don't have Malfoy around?" He asked, turning slightly red in anger.

"Honestly Ron, I don't want to hear anything, because I don't want to know anything. I don't want to hear any excuses or that you're sorry and that you love me and want me back, because honestly? I don't want to take you back. I also don't want to hear how happy you and whomever's taste is still on your lips are. Or, that you want to forget this happened and go back to being friends, because you know what Ron?- you completely messed over any chance of any friendship we had." I said realizing I was almost yelling, and close to tears.

Ron looked at me, surprise written all over his features. He sat there for a few moments not saying anything. He looked torn between wanting to tell me everything, being terrified of doing so, and being close to vomiting. I silently hoped he wouldn't do the latter. I turned back to my essay. A half hour later I had it finished and looked up to see Ron still sitting there.

"What Ronald?" I asked annoyed.

He didn't say anything.

"Fine, say what you wanted to say then leave me alone." I told him.

"I thought she was you." He started. I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. He continued anyway, "I was at the doors at 7. I was expecting you to be early, as you usually are. I remembered you told me your dress was pink so when I saw someone in a pink dress I went over and she hugged me. We went in and sat down and, we kissed and I could've sworn it was you." He said.

"Right, that's why when everyone was showing as themselves you didn't stop to look? And why is it that you didn't try to find out for sure if it was me? And why is it Ronald Weasley, that when you got caught and I ran back to my room, it was Draco to follow out after me and not you?" I asked, refusing to let my tears fall and silently begging my voice to remain even.

"I did come after you. The next day I went to your room to talk to you, but your boyfriend wouldn't let me in." Ron said, "I don't know why I'm even telling you this. I've already been replaced by scumbag of the year."

"Well Ron, it's better than being replaced by the whore of the school. Frankly you did too little too late. Now, if you don't mind and even if you do, it's time for everyone to go up to their dorms, and me to patrol the halls. So thank you Ronald for taking away my little spare time to try and get a jumpstart on my homework. Goodnight." I spat grabbing my books and leaving.

I made it all the way into the common room before I allowed myself to collapse into a fit of tears. Draco looked at me then kneeled down collecting me in his arms.

"Let me guess," He said, "Ron?"

I sniffled and nodded.

"I just can't leave you alone for five minutes can I?" He teased, carrying me to the couch.

"I don't know what to believe. He said he was sorry and that he though she was me. Dammit Draco! How come I can be strong in front of him the more than half the time I'm with you I'm crying and blubbering like an idiot?" I cried angrily.

"Because you like me more," He teased.

I glared at him, "What's got you in such a brilliant mood?" I snapped.

"Fine, I see I can't joke around you. It's probably because I've already seen you at your weakest versus him only seeing you at your strongest. With me it doesn't matter if you're weak because it's like a 'been there, done that' situation whereas with Ron, you've always been the strong one to keep your cool so you feel you have an image to uphold." He stated in his 'I-know-everything' voice.

"Bloody git, you have to be smart too." I said sniffling.

"Aw there, there," He said wiping away my tears and smiling at me. "One day you'll catch up to me."

"Why are you in such a wonderful mood? Did you torture a first year on the way here?" I asked. He smirked and kissed my forehead.

"Nope." He said, "Just happy due to certain events."

"Like what?" I questioned.

"You told Ron we're shagging and I got to undress you in the hall. I bet I can be shagging you by the end of the week." He said smirking and winking at me.

"Ugh, get off Malfoy." I told him pushing him away. "And you didn't undress me you git, you undid three buttons."

Malfoy looked at me but didn't say anything. After a few minutes he pulled me back into his arms. I sighed and leaned on his chest, resting my head against his collarbone.

"So," he said sighing and running his fingers through my hair. "What are you going to do about Ron?"

"I don't know" I sighed.

"Well, why not just sit back and let fate deal this hand okay?" He whispered. I nodded and yawned.

"You go to bed. I'll patrol the halls by myself tonight." He told me. I nodded again.

I got up, grabbing my robe and went to patrol the halls. The only person I saw wandering was a first year who had gotten lost. I lazily walked into the common room, looking around to find it empty.

'Hermione went to bed, good.' I thought to myself. I trudged up the stairs to my room and once inside I heard someone breathing. "Lumous" I said, looking around the dimly lit room. I found the source of the noise to be Hermione, in my bed. I looked at her as she yawned.

"I didn't want to be alone." She whispered. I nodded and stripped down to my boxers before lying next to her. "This is by no means an invitation for anything Malfoy," She added in a warning tone cuddling close against me.

"I know." I whispered softly rubbing her back.

A few days later I woke up in Draco's bed. That was where I normally slept now.

"Mmm, finally it's Saturday." Draco mumbled waking up.

"Is that what you think of when you first wake up? What day it is?" I asked.

"It's the first thing I think of that I can say without getting slapped." He said burying his face in my neck. I yawned the got up. Draco looked at me.

"Why do you keep stealing my clothes?" He asked.

"Because they smell like you," I told him before walking downstairs to the common room. I looked at the clock.

"Bloody hell Draco we slept in until 4!" I yelled to him. He came downstairs wrapped in his comforter.

"It was a long week." He mumbled before taking a bite of my toast.

"Hey prat, get your own." I told him, swatting at him. He laughed and had food brought to him. After I finished eating I went into the Head's library and read for a few hours.

"Hey it's almost 7. We should get ready for dinner." Draco said peeking into the library. I took a quick shower then put on jeans and a plain dark green t-shirt of Draco's.

"C'mon let's go!" I yelled to Draco from the common room as I put on my school robe. A few moments later we were on our way to dinner. I sat next to Ginny, across from Harry.

"You smell like a boy." Ginny told me.

I laughed. "Probably smell like Malfoy."

"Areyouwearinghisshirt?!" Ginny rushed all in one breath.

"Yeah." I said.

She squealed, I rolled my eyes, "Did you shag? Are you a couple?" She asked.

"No," I said, "But if Ron asks feel free to tell him whatever you like."

Ginny giggled and nodded as I began eating. "Hermione," I heard a scared voice behind me. I turned around to see Ron, looking nervous.

"What Ronald?" I asked.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" He asked, motioning his head to the doors of the great hall. I felt eyes burning into me and turned to see Draco staring at me. He started to get up but I shook my head for him not to.

"What Ron?" I asked once outside the great hall.

"Look, Hermione, I really need your help." He said nervously running his fingers through his hair.

Chapter Twenty

I walked back into the Great Hall holding back tears. I grabbed my bag with shaking hands.

“Are you alright ‘Ne?” Ginny asked. Afraid that if I opened my mouth to talk a sob would replace words, I merely shook my head. My mind was racing as I walked up to my common room. I thought back to the conversation:

”Look Hermione, I really need your help.” Ron said running his hand nervously through his hair.

“Why would I help you Ron?” I asked.

“Because this is something major and I don’t know anyone else to go to.” HE said, looking everywhere except me.

“What Ron?” I asked.

“Pansyispregnantwithmychild.” He mumbled.

“What?” I asked again, not understanding.

“Pansy is having a child. I’m the father.” He said much slower.

I laughed. “She did the same thing to Draco, she’s not pregnant.” I told him.

His face drained of color, “I watched her take the test. Pomphrey check her out too.” He said.

“Very funny Ron,” I said glaring at him. We stood staring at each other for a few seconds. The pleading look in his eyes told me he wasn’t kidding, and that this wasn’t some form of a sick joke. I rushed to the great hall to get my bag before my tears fell.

I looked up to see I was standing in front of Sir Luke.

“Are you alright there Ms Granger? You’ve been standing there for a while now.” He said, causing me to fully come out of my comatose state.

I nodded, opening my mouth to state the password when I heard someone say it from behind me. I turned to look at Draco, standing behind me, concern oozing from all of his features, his brow knitted in concentration trying to diagnose a reason with only studying me. An idea flashed in my mind. ‘I know what I need’ I thought smiling slightly. ‘I need to forget all of this’. I walked into the common room ignoring Draco questioning looks and walking meaningfully into his room and searched under his bed. A smile lit my features triumphantly when I found it. I reached for Draco’s firewhiskey and drank a sixth of it in one gulp.

“How in bloody hell did you know that was there?” Draco asked taking the bottle from me.

“Pansy is pregnant because of you.” I told him, ignoring his question.

He smiled, “Who’s the lucky bloke?”

“The guy I’m in love with.” I stated glaring at him.

The color drained from his face, “You mean?”

“Yup,” I growled.

A pitying expression took over his face and he hand the firewhiskey back to me. I took another gigantic swig, enjoying the burning of my throat masking the breaking of my heart.

“Careful, I don’t want you dead or sick.” Malfoy said taking the bottle back and taking a drink. I could already feel it, granted I had already drunk a third of the bottle. I went into Malfoy’s drawer and grabbed a pair of boxers. I changed out of my jeans and into them as Malfoy raised an eyebrow at me.

“You alright Granger?” he asked.

“Just fine,” I said smiling and taking the bottle back for another plentiful gulp.

“If you’re getting drunk then I’m joining.” Draco said taking the bottle and taking a drink. I walked over close to him. ‘He’s cute, why haven’t I hooked up with him yet? ’ my mind asked, searching for a logical answer.

“You can join me in anything.” I told him winking at him. I carefully walked down the stairs to the common room. I took a victory drink when I made it down safely. I felt a warm body press against my back and I leaned on them, allowing them to take the bottle.

“You’re drinking all of my whiskey.” Draco said with his breath hot on my ear.

“I’m sorry; I’ll make it up to you.” I told him. I turned around to see a shirtless Draco and all I wanted to do was feel his muscles. I made a grab for the bottle but he held it high above his head. I pouted and stuck out my bottom lips. He leaned in and bit my lip. I smiled mischievously at him.

“Can I have the bottle back?” I asked.

“Nope.” He said grinning.

“Please?” I asked before kissing him.

“Okay, I guess.” He said handing me the bottle. I chugged what was left and Draco smirked at me.

I woke up the next morning in silk sheets. ‘Draco’s Bed’ my mind decided. I groaned. It hurt to think. I opened my eyes to see Draco climbing out of bed.

“Draco!” I almost yelled, only to groan moments later from the amount of noise. He turned to look at me, still half asleep. I felt my jaw drop. “You’re naked!” I exclaimed.

He looked down at himself and nodded. “So I am.” I heard myself giggling. “That tends to happen a lot.” He told me putting on a pair of boxers. He went into the bathroom and came out a minute later and handed me a potion.

“Memory potion?” I asked.

“Hangover remedy, why would you think I would want you to forget seeing me naked?” He winked at me then drank a vile of potion. I rolled my eyes and drank the potion. Draco eyed me from head to toe then smirked. I looked down to see I was in my bra and panties; I grabbed to cover myself with a sheet. He laughed and threw me a shirt.

“Why weren’t you wearing anything?” I asked almost scared of the answer.

“I’m a naked drunk.” He said shrugging as if it was nothing.

“Did we do anything?” I asked.

He laughed. “No, you wanted to though. ‘Didn’t know you felt that way about me Granger.” He said before walking down to common room. I followed him.

“Wait. You’re telling me that I threw myself at you and you turned me down?” I asked. He nodded.

“As much as I want you, I’d rather you be willing on your own, not alcohol induced. I didn’t drink as much as you did. You got upset when I pushed you away but seemed to recover when my clothes happen to disappear, so I figured that worked.” He told me.

I felt a blush creep over my face and features.

“I learned a lot about you too.” He added walking over to me.

“Like what?” I challenged.

“You like my penis for one.” He told me giving me a toothy grin, I swatted at him, hitting his chest. “And I learned that kissing you right here-“ he kissed my neck, biting it lightly and my knees gave out. “-makes you weak in the knees. And that you’re most ticklish on the roof of your mouth.” He leaned in and kissed me, part my lips and running his tongue lightly over the roof of my mouth. I shivered. He pulled away smirking. “And your biggest turn on it my smirk.” He finished.

“That last one is wrong.” I told him. He raised his eyebrows at me. “I like your smile better.”

“I’ll remember that.” He told me coyly.

“Did I learn anything about you?” I asked.

He laughed. “Yeah, too bad you don’t remember.”

“I do remember a few things.” I said searching through my still slightly foggy thoughts. I ran my fingers through his hair and he closed his eyes, “You love when I play with your hair. Your biggest turn on is biting.” I said before nibbling his collarbone. “And you love it when I use your smirk, not to mention you love the fact that I like your penis.” I told him smirking.

“Not true about the smirk.” He whispered with his voice husky.

“Is so,” I said smirking at him. He leaned in and captured my mouth with his. I smiled against his lips, bringing my hands to the back of his neck, lacing my fingers through his silk hair. We pulled apart looking at each other for a few moments. Our eyes locked then someone knocked on the door, neither one of us moved.

“Hermione! I need to talk to you!” They called. I felt my stomach drop and I looked away, losing our unannounced battle.

“I’ll talk to this git.” Draco stated sneering, walking toward the door.

“No!” I told him. He ignored me. “Draco Malfoy get your cute arse back here!” I stated sternly.

“You think my arse is oomph!” He started, only to be cut off by me tackling him to the ground.

“Hermione!” Ron called from outside the door. I looked down at Malfoy.

“I don’t want to talk to him.” I stated.

“I was going to talk to him. You don’t have to. He said flipping us both over so he was on top. “Don’t worry.” He said before kissing my forehead then got up and walked to the portrait. He was still in his boxers and I in his shirt. An idea formed in my head.

“What do you want weasel?” Draco asked annoyed upon throwing the door open.

“I…uhm…is uh…I need to talk to Hermione.” Ron said.

“She’s still in bed.” Draco said. I took that as my cue and walked up to Draco, wrapping my arms around his waist from behind, resting my head lazily on his shoulder.

“Are you coming back?” I asked him.

“Hermione I need to talk to you.” Ron said.

“Mmm, later.” I mumbled sticking my finger in the elastic waist band of Draco’s boxers.

“Drayyyy-co” I whined, pouting. Ron now had a full few of me and his jaw dropped as I tried pulling Draco away.

“No, the Weasel needs to talk to you.” Draco said tilting his head toward Ron.

“It c-c-c-an wait.” Ron stuttered.

“See, it can wait. Let’s go back to bed.” I said grinning mischievously at him.

“Later Weasel.” Draco said turning and closing the portrait. “Didn’t want to talk to him my arse,” He growled at me.

“I didn’t want to talk to him.” I stated plainly.

“You do realize that’s twice in the past week that you’ve used me to make him jealous right?” Draco stated walking slowly to me like a predator stalking its prey. “And last night you promised you would make up for drinking all of my firewhiskey.”

“I will pay you back.” I told him. “A promise is a promise after all.”

Malfoy came closer to me.

“I’m not going to shag you Malfoy. I never said how I would pay you back. I’ll buy you another bottle or two or something.” I told him. He pouted at me. I laughed and walked to my room. I grabbed some clothes and went to shower. I got out of the shower and put on pajama pants and a tank top, drying my hair straight. I went down to the common room to see Draco, Blaise and Harry sitting around on the couches talking.

“Hey Hermione” Blaise said spotting me first.

“Hi boys” I said sitting on the couch next to Harry. “Aren’t you three getting close, it’s kind of scary.”

Draco laughed. “Potter is fine when he isn’t trying to be the hero and save the world every second.”

I smiled. “Malfoy is still an arse though.” Harry joked as Blaise agreed.

“Awe, poor Drakie, everyone is picking on you!” I teased.

“I think I can handle it Granger.” He said smirking.

“How do you not fall over with that big ego of yours?” Blaise asked.

“Muscle.” Draco said flexing. I rolled my eyes.

“I’m going, later boys.” I said grabbing my school robes.

Draco followed me to the door. “Where are you going?” he asked.

“To walk about the castle, maybe to talk to Ginny,” I decided.

“What if you run into you-know-who” Draco whispered. I laughed.

“Voldemort is dead Draco, I don’t have any worries of running into him.” I stated still giggling.

“Not him, Ron” he clarified.

“I didn’t know he was a ‘you-know-who’ now.” I giggled. “Don’t worry. If I see him coming I’ll leave the other way or hex him. Nothing to worry about, I’m the brightest witch of our class.” I told him. He looked at me, his eyes searching mine. ‘Why is he worrying?’ my mind questioned.

“Don’t worry.” I said kissing him on the cheek before turning to leave. “Trust me” I called over my shoulder smirking and winking at him. He shook his head and went back to talk to Harry and Blaise. I sighed and wandered the halls. I hadn’t noticed how much I needed alone time to think until I was actually alone. I found an alcove down the way from the Great hall and sat in it, moving as far away from the opening as I could. I brought my knees up to my chest and rested my chin on them. I took a deep breath to steady myself when all of a sudden all the emotions I had been holding back by being strong came flooding back, bringing on a surge of memories and tears.

“Hermione, dear, you’re not as strong as you thought.” I lectured myself.

I began thinking of Ron and my parents and of everything that had been happening to me lately. I leaned my head back onto the wall behind me and closed my eyes, the tears flowing freely. I heard someone shuffle in next to me. I opened my eyes to see glowing blonde hair and I knew it was Draco. He didn’t say anything, he just picked up my hand and safely held in within his own, interlocking our fingers. I leaned over and laid my head on his shoulder. After a long time, my eyes refused to let out anymore tears. Exhausted, I looked over at Draco, whom stared at me intently.

“Thanks,” I whispers, my voice hoarse. He nodded then kissed the tip of my nose. I leaned my head back onto his shoulder and drifted into a deep, no dream sleep. When I woke up I was in my bed in my dorm. I looked around only to see Draco sleeping in the chair next to my bed. He started to move and winced, slowly opening his eyes.

“Come here.” I said holding the sheets open. He climbed in next to me and I softly began to rub his back. “That chair must kill your back.” I said sighing. He just groaned as an answer. Draco looked at me as I rubbed his back.

“What?” I asked upon noticing his stare.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

“Yeah, I just needed a break from being strong, everything got to be too much.” I said sighing. He smiled slightly at me.

“Don’t ever think you need to hide yourself from me.” He told me.

“I know, but I needed some time to myself.” I told him, my hands running up his spine to his hair. He closed his eyes and grinned in comfort as my fingers laced through his hair. I sighed deeply and looked out the window. It was snowing; the first snow of the year. I couldn’t hide my smile and Draco’s eyebrows raised in question.

“It’s snowing!” I whispered excitedly.

“I hate snow” He groaned.

“How did I know?” I questioned myself aloud.

“Its cold, and there’s no possible way for anyone, even a Malfoy, to look sexy in three layers of clothing.” He stated.

“I doubt you don’t look sexy in any type of clothing Malfoy.” I smirked getting up.

“My ego thanks you Granger. Hey, where are you going?” He asked sitting up.

“To play in the snow,” I said pulling on a hat. Draco rolled his eyes at me and fell back onto the bed.

“You’re coming too.” I told him grabbing him by the arm and pulling him off of the bed.

Chapter 21: Chapter Twenty-One - Snow Fun and Godparents?
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N- I'm so so sorry. Everything has been so hectic lately. I'm stuck in a horrible horrible writers block. I can only get like a sentence to a paragraph each day. (And it usually isn't any good)

My apologies if this chapter isn't any good. Or the next couple for that matter. :o/

Chapter Twenty-One

“You are so going to pay for this Granger.” Malfoy grumbled behind me as we walked outside to find Harry and Ginny building a snowman.

“Hey guy,” I said walking over to them, ignoring Malfoy’s last comment.

“Hey Hermione.” Ginny said, glancing at Malfoy giving me an ‘I-have-to-speak-with-you-later’ look.

“Oi, ‘Mione, Malfoy, come help!” Harry said. I went to help as Draco just stood there.

“I don’t build snowmen.” Malfoy stated crossing his arms over his chest.

I looked at him then went to build the snowman. A little later Harry, Ginny and I got in a snowball fight. I grinned evilly and threw on at Draco, hitting him square in the chest. Draco turned and looked at me.

“Oh you’re so going to get it Granger” He said laughing before chasing after me. I ran as fast as I could away from him but Malfoy was in much better shape than I was being that Quidditch was in season. I stopped, hiding behind a snowman to catch my breath when the next thing I knew I was laying on my back looking up to Draco. I laughed and looked up at him.

“I was wrong. You don’t look sexy in snow clothes.” I teased him smirking.

“Why you little bugger!” He said throwing snow at my face.

I screamed trying to wipe it off. “That’s cold!” I said pushing him.

He smirked. “Let me warm you up.” He said before leaning in and kissing me. I laughed against his mouth.

“Draco, come on, get off!” I said laughing as he still tried to kiss me.

“Hermione?” He asked seriously.

“Yeah?” I asked looking him in the eye.

“Would you be my girlfriend?” He asked.

I averted my eyes and sighed. I looked back at him. “Look, Drake, I’m just not ready yet after everything with Ron.” I told him. His hopeful look fell, he tried to hide it by smiling.

“It’s okay, I understand.” He said before getting up. He held out his hand and helped me up. “I’m cold, I’m going to go to the commons.” He muttered walking toward the castle. I turned to see Harry and Ginny staring at me.

“What happened?” Ginny asked.

I sighed, “He asked me to be his girlfriend and I told him I’m not ready.” I told them.

“I’ll go talk to him.” Harry stated running off toward the castle.

“That’s gonna take some getting use to.” Ginny stated, “Them being friends and all.”

I nodded. “Let’s go to the Gryffindor commons.” Ginny said. I nodded against followed her to the castle. We sat down in overstuffed chairs off in a corner.

“So why wouldn’t you go out with Malfoy?” She asked me. I sighed.

“I’m not ready just yet, and anyway, I’m losing focus on school because of everything that has happened and I need to get back into my work.” I told her.

“Ron messes everything.” Ginny sighed.

“What about me?” Ron asked walking up behind me. I slid lower in my chaise hoping he wouldn’t see me.

“Nothing Ron, we’re having an important conversation so bugger off.” Ginny told him. He moved to the side of my chair, I felt his eyes on me.

“Hermione,” He stated touching my shoulder. “Can I talk to you up in my room?”

“Hands off Weasel.” Malfoy said walking into the common room behind Harry “She’s not going any where with you. We wouldn’t want you getting her pregnant like you did Pansy. Don’t know how she managed to stand you long enough, let alone actually…” Draco trailed off, letting his whole body visibly shudder. Everyone stopped to watch, gaping at the new gossip. Ron’s eyes flashed dangerously in anger.

“Malfoy, I swear to Merlin, if you don’t leave me and Hermione alone for five minutes I’ll-“ Ron started.

“I’d stop there Weasley. Threatening Head Boy? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Why don’t you ask Granger if she wants five minutes with you?” Draco interrupted.

Everyone turned and looked at me in question.

“No Ronald.” I told him getting up and walking past Harry and Draco to the door. I left the common room and decided I needed a nice hot bath to calm my nerves and thoughts. I locked the doors to the bathroom and got in the bath, engulfed in the vanilla scent. After all the bubbles were gone and the water now cold, I decided to get out. I changed into baggy sweatpants and a tank top. I grabbed a book and went down to the common room.

“Hermione.” Draco said looking up from his book upon hearing me. “Can I talk to you?”

“Yeah.” I said softly and sitting next to him on the couch, leaning against the armrest to face him. He turned to face me.

“I wasn’t trying to freak you out by asking you out, I just-“ He started, staring at his hands.

Draco Malfoy? Being shy? ’ my mind questioned.

“Draco.” I whispered interrupting him. He looked up at me. “Lately you have been everything I could’ve asked for and then some. Me saying no wasn’t because I don’t like- it’s just that I’m not ready just yet after Ron. He was my first real boyfriend. I mean I had flings before and the fling with Krum, but none of that was official like this was, and he cheated on me and got Pansy pregnant. It’s just going to take some time to let my heart heal enough o let someone else in. The last thing I want to do right now is rush into something with you before I’m ready and screw over any change for anything serious.” I said.

Draco pulled me into a tight hug and I sighed contently in his arms. “Once you stop being a prat, you’re anything anyone could ever ask for, you know that?” I asked him.

“You’re the only one to actually seen me like this.” I heard him whisper in a barely audible tone. Not sure if it was meant for me to hear or not, I didn’t say anything.

After the scene in the Gryffindor commons, the whole school quickly knew Ron and Pansy were expecting a baby. News eventually got back to Mrs. Weasley whom was not happy and made it clear to Ron when she sent him a howler during Friday’s lunch. I walked happily to the common room, glad classes were done for the week and the scene from lunch still fresh in my memory.

“Mione, you got post.” Draco said as I walked into the common room and handed me a letter. I recognized Fred & Georges’ hand writing. I did a spell testing to see if the letter was hexed. Upon finding it wasn’t after two more spells, I opened it and read-

Hello, heard the horrid news. Couldn’t believe Ron would be so bloody dumb. Not the pregnant part (he is a moron usually) but the cheating on you part. (we didn’t know he was that much of a moron) Just wanted to let you know that if you’re ever feeling lonely and want some twin lovin’ –or out for revenge- keep us in mind. We do have a while line of things ready for him should you give the okay. See, we’ve matured. We’re asking permission.
Love Always,
Fred & George.
Post Script- You are still welcome anytime at the burrow. Just ignore Ron. We’ll make it worth your stay.
Post Post Script- Mum wants to know if you’re coming for winter holiday.

I laughed and reread the letter then wrote them a reply.

Fred & George,
Thanks. And you have my permission to do a full range of whatever you wish to do to him. (After all, he is your brother, I don’t think you need permission with him) I think I will come stay for winter holiday thought I can’t promise how fun I’ll be as it being my first Christmas without my parents. Don’t worry though, I can’t think of anyone other than your family to spend it with.
Love Always,

“Who was it from?” Draco asked curiously.

“My American lover.” I said sighing dreamily and batting my eye lashes. Draco looked at me puzzled.

“Aw, you’re cute when you’re confused.” I told him. “It was just Fred and George.” I added.

“Oh.” He said. “And Malfoy’s aren’t cute.” He added a moment later.

“I’m sorry your highness, it was my mistake.” I said, mocking a bow toward him.

“You’re hopeless.” He told me laughing.

“I’m going to the owlry.” I told him rolling my eyes.

“Don’t die.” He said.

“I’ll try.” I told him turning to leave.

“Oh and don’t run into Weasel, I’m getting sick of saving you from him.” He called after me.

“Then stop saving me. I’m a big girl Draco, I can take care of myself.” I yelled back to him.

I opened the door to see Ron standing there with his fist raised, just about to knock. I quickly slammed the door in his face.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” I muttered walking back toward Draco. He raised his eyebrows in question.

“Hermione!” Ron called pounding on the door.

Draco smirked and laughed at me “Go on big girl, go handle him for yourself.”

I pouted.

“Fine. This is the last time I deal with him.” Draco said getting up. He threw the door open to reveal a very surprised Ron. “Look Weasel, you can talk to her but on three conditions. One, I’m in the room. Two, you touch her I hex you. Three, you have five minutes, no more.” Draco stated.

Ron visibly gulped. “Okay.” He agreed.

Draco came back inside, Ron following. I groaned. Draco sat on the couch pulling me down next to him. Ron looked really nervous and didn’t say anything. After five minutes of silence, Draco stood up.

“Times up Weasel. Get out.” He said pointing to the door. Ron quickly got up and ran out the door.

“You Prat!” I said turning and hitting Draco. He smirked at me. “I’m going to mail this.” I said before leaving. I took my time walking to the owlry then watched the owl fly away with my letter. I walked back into the common room yawning.

“Draco, can you wake me up when we have to do rounds?” I asked walking toward my room.

“Yeah,” He mumbled.

I went into my room, closed the curtains and got into bed, snuggling deep into the blankets. A few minutes later I heard Draco set my alarm then climb in next to me, pulling my body close to his. I smiled and sighed contently. I woke up due to a loss of heat behind me and turned to see Draco out of bed and stretching.

“Where’re you going?” I mumbled.

“Gotta check the halls.” He told me.

I looked at the clock then groaned. “Screw the halls.” I told him.

“Is Hermione Granger suggesting we break a rule?” Draco mocked a gasp.

“Yes, the halls will be find if we don’t check them for one night. We can say we went to bed early and the alarm never went off. Now come back here, I’m cold.” I told him. He smirked at me before climbing into the bed. I quickly cuddled close to him.

“Mmm” I mumbled “this is better.”

Draco chuckled before wrapping his arms around me tightly and protectively.

“Sweet dreams” He whispered then kissed me lightly on the forehead.

I smiled, now half asleep. “Sweet dreams Draco.” I mumbled.

I woke up the next morning and looked at the clock, 30 minutes before my alarm was set to go off. I smiled and looked at Drac. He was still asleep and just looked prefect. I stifled a laugh thinking of how he would act if I ever told him he looked prefect, he wouldn’t be able to fit thought the door his ego would be so big. I looked at the peaceful expression on his face, his hair was messy and covering his forehead and his lips were slightly pouted as he dreamed. I fought the urge to kiss him. It wouldn’t be fair to him. I cuddled back into his embrace and let my lips brush against his neck. I felt him stir and his hands softly rubbed my back. I pulled away from him to look at him. His usually grey eyes were now crystal blue and still clouded with sleep.

“Mmph” he grunted.

I laughed, knowing he hated mornings. “Good morning Draco.” I told him, reaching for my wand to open the shades. He growled then buried his face in my neck to block out the light; the stubble on his chin tickled my shoulder. I turned him onto his back and straddled his waist.

“One of these days I’m going to make it so you love mornings.” I told him.

Draco raised his eyebrows and looked me over with a hungry look in his eyes.

“Don’t give me that look I didn’t mean like that!” I told him, swatting his chest playfully.

“I know, I know. But, a shag every morning would cause me to like mornings.” He said smiling and pulling me down so I was lying on top of him. I rested my head on his chest and ran my hand over his arm.

“We still have 20 minutes before the alarm. I could get a head start on my shower.” I mumble, not making any attempt to move.

“Or, we could just stay like this.” Draco whispered. I nodded and laid there listening to the steady musical of his heart beats and calm breaths. The alarm went off and Draco growled. I laughed.

“What do you care? You stay in bed, I’m the one who has to get up and shower.” I teased him.

“I could always shower with you.” He offered, pouting playfully.

“No Draco.” I told him getting up.

“You will say yes one day.” He called after me.

I got out of the shower and walked into my room to see Draco passed out on my bed once again. I changed and did my hair and makeup. I woke up Draco and he looked at me from head to toe.

“I wonder what you would look like in all Slytherin instead of Gryffindor.” He mused aloud.

“Don’t know” I told him putting on my robe.

“After classes today you should have little Weasley do you up in Slytherin colors.” He said, almost asking.

“I’m capable of doing my own make up Draco, and I’m not going to dress up for you. Plus I would never go to dinner like that.” I said. He pouted. “I thought Malfoy’s don’t beg!” I stated sourly.

“See what you have reduced me to!” He said wrapping his arms around me.

“MAYBE after dinner,” I told him, “IF you’re nice.”

“I’m always nice.” He stated.

“Let me ask that first year that you made cry yesterday.” I said. Draco smirked. “Go get ready for breakfast, I’m leaving.” I told him.

Classes went by at a snail’s pace. I sighed and sat next to Ginny in the Gryffindor commons.

“So wait- he wants you to play dress up in Slytherin so he can look at you?” Ginny clarified. I grimaced and nodded closing my eyes. “Like, just ‘a green t-shirt’ dress up or ‘all black and green, heavy makeup spell-your-hair-a-different-color’ dress up?”

“I’m guessing the second one.” I sighed.

“Are you going to do it?” She asked.

“No.” I said sternly.

I walked back to my dorm. Draco was reading by the fire and I laid on the couch with intentions of taking a nap. I closed my eyes and hugged a pillow when I could feel someone staring at me. I opened my eyes to see Draco watching me intently.

“What?” I asked feeling self-conscience.

“Nothing,” He said smiling slightly, “just looking.”

“Well, stop! It’s creepy.” I told him.

“Well you stare at me when I sleep.” He stated defiantly.

“Do not.” I said rolling over.

I felt him lay down next to me, pressing his body against mine.

“Whatever you say Hermione.” He whispered into the back of my neck, giving me chills. A couple of minutes later someone knocked on the portrait. I groaned in protest, as Draco went to answer. I cuddled as deep as I could into the blankets, listening to hear who it was but I couldn’t make out who the voices belonged to.

“Hermione, you gotta wake up.” Draco whispered in my ear before kissing my temple. I nodded and sat up turning to see Ron and Pansy.

“Hermione, Draco,” Pansy started at a sufferable pitch for once in her life. “We want to know if you’ll be our child’s God parents.”

I felt my jaw drop. Draco grabbed my hand as I felt my stomach clench.

“Excuse me,” I mumbled getting up and walking as normally as I could manage to the loo. I sat down on the floor and all the contents of my stomach decided to empty into the toilet, after my stomach was empty and a few more dry heaves, I leaned my head against the cool tile of the wall to ease the queasy feeling. I closed my eyes and soon felt s cold wet cloth on my face. I opened my eyes to see Draco, his eyes full of concern. He handed me a glass of ice water and I sipped it, letting the freezing liquid relax my body as if went down to my stomach.

“Bad dream right?” I heard myself mumble. Draco looked at sympathetically before kissing me on the forehead and pulling me close to him. He picked me up and carried me to my room. He tucked me into bed; I pulled the covers up to my chin as Draco lay down next to me on top of the covers. I laid there, hoping sleep would come, wishing it to over-throw my reeling mind. Thousands of questions kept making themselves known in my brain, thought the most popular seemed to be “Why me?” often followed by “What did I do to deserve this?”. When the alarm went off the next morning I sighed, happy to have class as a distraction.

Chapter Twenty Two

I lazily showered then put my still wet hair into a tangled mass on my head held there with an elastic. I threw on jeans I found on the floor and a baggy t-shirt. I put on my school robes and found Draco sitting on the couch waiting for me. He smiled weakly when he saw me. From the looks of him he didn’t sleep at all last night either. When we got to the Great hall Draco reluctantly left me to sit with his housemates.

“Don’t ask” I mumbled receiving looks from Harry and Ginny. I pushed the food around on my plate, only taking a scarce few bites. The bell tolled and everyone began shuffling toward the grad staircase. Suddenly I felt someone grab my arm and pull me out the big oak doors. I turned to see who my kidnapper was.

“Draco!” I hissed. “What do you think you’re doing?”

He smiled mischievously at me, “We’re not going to class today. We’re going to Hogsmeade. You need some cheering up.”

My fights against him didn’t even faze him as he pulled me behind him.

“We’re head boy and girl! Do you know how much trouble we’ll get into?” I told him glancing back nervously.

“Hermione,” He said stopping and turning to look at me, his face inches from mine. “Stop being such a goody-two-shoes, and trust me for once.” He smirked at me then put a hand on each side of my face, pulling me in for a kiss. I pulled back and looked at him.

“I do need a day off,” I sighed, “But no kissing.” He chuckled and held my hand.

“I don’t know about the second half.” He said winking at me.

“Git,” I said swatting at him.

We walked around Hogsmeade for a while before going into a small café for coffee to warm us up. After the café Draco led us to a hair salon.

“What are you getting at?” I asked him. He pointed me towards a mirror.

“This look won’t work for my plans for later.” He stated. I raised my eyebrows at him. “Trust me remember.”

An hour later my hair was in soft silky ringlets.

“And now clothes.” Draco said leading me to another shop. After an hour and many dresses, Draco the sales witch and I decided on a gold halter dress falling loosely above my knee with matching gold shoes and a new long cloak. Draco got muggle dress pants and shirt then paid for it all without a blink of an eye. We walked out of the shop and Draco looked at a clock.

“Just in time,” He said smiling.

“In time for what?” I asked.

“Dinner,” He said leading us to muggle London. “Come on or we’ll be late.” We walked to a restaurant. “Two for Malfoy,” Draco told the host. Draco grabbed my hand as we were led to a booth in the back corner. I received multiple glares from jealous girls as Draco turned and winked at me before getting into the booth. We ate our dinner with relaxed conversation. I smiled at him as we both finished.

“Thank you Draco, this day has been wonderful. You treated me better than anyone ever has and this was exactly what I needed.” I told him.

He smirked playfully. “The night hasn’t even started yet my dear,” He said.

I looked at him with curiosity. He merely smiled and helped me from my seat. “It’s a surprise” he whispered standing close.

“Okay,” I told him smiling “I trust you.” I added. I felt his lips press against my forehead before he grabbed my hand and led me to the door. “No kisses.” I told him playfully.

He smirked at me, “Just wait until you see where we’re going next.” He said winking. “It’s not too far we can just walk.” He added putting his arm around my waist, our steps falling in tune with each other. I sighed and let my head rest slightly against his shoulder. We came up to a theatre, Draco smiled.

“Right on time,” Draco said pulling two tickets from his pocket.

“What are we seeing?” I asked excited.

“Guys and Dolls,” He said chuckling at my excitement. An usher led us to our seats which turned out to be a few rows from the stage.

“I’ve never been to a theatre before,” I said looking around in awe, “Not to mentions a musical.”

He laughed. “You’re like a five year old.” He told me.

“I’m excited.” I told him.

“As much as father didn’t like London, they always took me to shows.” Draco said as the lights began to dim. As the show stated Draco put his arm around my shoulders making me smile. After the show we walked out onto the street.

“Oh Draco!” I said wrapping my arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. He laughed then picked me up and spun me around. “That was so wonderful!” I gushed.

“One more place.” He said smiling and leading me a few blocks away. We came up to a night club with a line out the door. He walked up to the doorman and whispered something to him and we were quickly led inside in front of the line. He smiled at me. “Wanna dance?” he asked over the music. I smiled and we made our way to the dance floor. We danced for a couple hours, Draco ignoring any girl that tried to dance with him and me doing the same with the guys. We walked out of the club and Draco led us to a little ice cream shop on the corner.

“Dessert” He said simply. I smiled. We got ice cream then began back to Hogwarts. I yawned trudging up the stairs.

“Almost there.” Draco said as we reached the common room. “Night” he told Sir Luke.

“I’ll just sleep on the couch,” I mumbled.

“Nope. C’mon we’ll just take you up to my room.” He said helping me keep my balance as I took off my shoes. I nodded then slowly went up stairs with him behind me. He handed me a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. I changed then smirked lazily at him.

“What?” he asked stripping down to his boxers.

“You complain I wear your clothes but then when I come in here to sleep you give them to me before I can say anything or go to my room to change.” I told him.

“You just look bloody brilliant.” He told me smiling. I crawled into bed cuddling against my pillow. Draco laid next to me and pulled me close to him. I smiled and cuddled closer to him.

“You’re better than a pillow” I mumbled, burying my face in his neck.

“I would hope so.” He said wrapping his arms tightly around me. I propped myself up on my elbow and looked down at him.

“What?” He asked looking at me.

“Thank you,” I whispered, “The whole night was brilliant. You have no idea how much I needed a break from everything. I guess I didn’t really even know.” I told him.

He smiled at me, “You’re welcome.” He told me. I leaned down and softly kissed him. “Now we need to get some sleep. We still have classes tomorrow.” Draco told me. I nodded and laid back down. “Come here” he whispered, pulling me close to him. I sighed contently and fell asleep listening to the beating of his heart.

The days flew by and soon it was the day before winter holiday. Draco sat on my bed as I packed some things to bring with me to the Weasley’s.

“When are you leaving?” He asked.

“Tomorrow.” I told him rushing about my room. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to him.

“Every New Year’s Eve we have a party at the Malfoy Manor. Will you come? Harry and Ginny can come too. You can stay in guest rooms for a few nights.” He asked. I smiled.

“I have to talk to Mrs. Weasley, Harry and Ginny, but I don’t see why not.” I told him. He smiled and pulled me into a hug.

“Oh, and this is formal. Tell little Weasley if she needs a new dress I’ll buy you both dresses as Christmas present.” He added. I smiled.

“Awe Draco, you’re actually learning to be nice. I’m proud of you.” I teased him. He laughed and gently shoved my shoulder playfully.

“Hey!” I said shoving him back. We continued shoving each other until we ended up on our backs next to each other on the bed.

“How will you deal with Ron?” Draco asked cautiously.

“Ignore him, pretend nothing happened.” I said shrugging.

“Did you give him and Pansy an answer on the God mother thing?” He asked.

“No,” I said shaking my head. “Have you?”

“I told them I would if you would. You know as much as I dislike Pansy, she’s a close friend of the family so she and Ron might be there on New Year’s Eve.” He told me.

I nodded. “I’m slowly getting use to the idea of them together. I should be okay but I might need you to pose as a distraction or to cheer me up.” I told him.

“I think I could manage that.” Draco said pulling me on top of him into a hug. I smiled and looked down at him. I rested my head against the hollow of his collarbone and breathed in, loving getting lost in the scent of is cologne.

“I have no idea how I’m going to sleep when I’m at the Weasley’s. I’ve actually got accustomed to having you to cuddle with.” I told him.

“I have an idea.” He said getting up and grabbing his wand. He went into his room and came back with his pillow and handed it to me. I just sat there looking at him.

“Smell it” He instructed. I cautiously smelled it then smiled involuntary when it smelled like him and his cologne.

“How?” I asked.

“Dad taught me. ‘Malfoy’s should never smell bad’ he would say. It should last for about a month.” He smiled. “And that’s the only way I got any sleep when we weren’t talking, my other pillow still smells like you.”

I smiled. “Thank you. I think I have everything now. What am I missing?”

“Me” Draco teased. I laughed and picked up my pillow.

“I have the next best thing.” I told him, “Or I always could go for Fred or George and cuddle with them.” I said.

Malfoy’s eyes flashed dangerously but he didn’t say anything. He just chewed slightly on his lip. I smiled warmly. “I’m only teasing.” I told him, giving him a hug. “Harry’s more my type.” I said winking at him.

“He’ll be busy with Ginny,” Draco said, “Maybe I’ll stop by for a visit and stay the night with you.”

“Nah. I can manage. I mean, unless you’ll need me that bad so you can sleep.” I teased some more.

“Oh aren’t you bloody hilarious,” Draco stated sarcastically. I smiled and pulled him into another hug.

“Think the Weasleys would mind if I did happen to drop by and spend the night?” Draco asked.

“Probably,” I told him honestly. “But I’ll stay at the Manor for a few nights around New Years.”

“And you’re not leaving my sight that whole time.” He told me.

“Like you let me leave your sight even now,” I giggled. We sat together in a comfortable silence. He laid down on the bed next to me and I lightly played with his hair. His eyes slowly drifted close and his breathing became regular. I looked down at his sleeping form.

“You’ve changed Draco Malfoy.” I whispered, “And thought I do care about you, please be patient. I’m still scared.” I sat there a little bit longer then got up and walked around the room. I took the blanket from the foot of my bed and wrapped it around me as I went out to the balcony. I stood there looking at the night sky when I heard Draco yawn and walk up behind me.

“It’s bloody freezing out here.” He said shivering. I wrapped half of the blanket around him and he held me close to help keep us warm.

“I love clear winter nights.” I told him. He leaned his head on my shoulder. After a few minutes Draco was shivering again.

“Come on, let’s go to bed.” He suggested.

“You go on; I’ll be there in a few minutes.” I told him. He nodded then went to his room. I took a deep breath and looked around. I smiled then deiced I should go to bed; I would have a lot to deal with tomorrow. I walked into Draco’s room and looked at him, passed out asleep on his bed, snoring. As quietly as I could, I crawled into bed next to him. He rolled over and looked at me, barely opening his eyes.

“I’m gonna miss you ‘Mione.” He mumbled pulling me close to him before resting his forehead on my shoulder.

“It’s only a week and a half Draco.” I whispered snuggling against him.

“Come on, get up.” Draco said shaking me slightly.

“Mmrph-up.” I mumbled pushing him away from me, “I’m up.” I repeated, this time coherently. Suddenly I wasn’t in my warm blankets anymore and someone lifted me off the bed. I opened my eyes to see Draco was taking me into the washroom.

“What in bloody hell are you doing?” I asked him.

“I’m putting you in the loo so you don’t fall back asleep. Since when do you not wake up?” he asked.

“Since I didn’t sleep all night.” I stated.

“Why?” He asked setting me down.

“Worried about how things will be at the burrow.” I mumbled, “Leave so I can shower now.” I took a quick shower and dressed in sweats, not bothering to do my hair, I just tied it up out of my face. I walked down to the common room and Draco looked at me. His eyes quickly scanned me from head to toe and he smirked at me.

“Don’t even say anything Malfoy, I know I look horrid and I don’t care.” I told him.

“I was going to say you pull off that look very well.” He mumbled turning back to the Daily Prophet. I levitated al my things to the door. I sighed trying to remember if I forgot anything. I quickly ran into Draco’s room and grabbed his pillow. I walked into the common room and Draco got up when he saw me.

“Time to go.” I told him. He walked over and pulled me into a tight hug. I smiled and relaxed in his arms, welcoming his body against mine. “I’m gonna see you in a little over a week.” I laughed.

“I know.” He said pulling away and kissing my forehead. “Just wanted to say goodbye and have fun. I’ll owl you about the party.”

“When are you going to the manor?” I asked.

“Probably tomorrow, quit stalling and go.” Draco told me laughing.

“I’m not stalling.” I pouted. Draco pulled me into another hug. I smiled and held him close. “Not stalling.” I mumbled.

“Are too.” Draco whispered.

“Well you would be too if you were going to your ex-boyfriend’s house with him and his new pregnant girlfriend.” I whined.

“It’s only a week and a half. And if at any time you want to leave, floo to the manor and stay there with me.” Draco said breaking the hug. I nodded and grabbed my bag and pillow.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Ginny and I carried my stuff up to her room and she helped me unpack into the extra wardrobe in her room. I opened my trunk and smiled, finding a note from Draco, two pairs of boxers and three t-shirts.

In case you can’t sleep or need comfort, wear these.

I smiled and Ginny raised her eyebrows at me.

“Pajamas,” I told her.

“Surprise from Draco?” She asked. I nodded. “That’s cute, are you two anything yet?”

“No,” I mumbled.

“Hermione Jane Granger! It has been over a month. You are dealing with it and you are okay. Stop hiding behind your problems with Ron and go with Malfoy!” Ginny lectured me in her do-not-argue voice.

“Hermione’s here?” Fred and George asked walking in the room. I smiled and got up to give them both a hug.

“What Gin? She’s been here an hour and already you’re giving her a hard time. This is holiday remember?” Fred said holding me close in a bear hug.

“Yeah, she already has enough to deal with.” George added, pulling me away from Fred and into his arms.

“Hey Gin, what do you think of Christopher if it’s a boy?” Ron asked coming into the doorway. His eyes instantly fell upon me as did Fred and George’s, Ginny busy glaring daggers at Ron.

“I think you’ll be lucky if you live long enough for the thing to be born.” Ginny stated, shoving Ron out of the door, before closing it behind her as she followed him out.

“Well this is going to be fun.” I stated sarcastically sitting on the bed. The next few days passed uneventfully as I stayed in my room most of the time, Fred and George doing as much as they could to make me feel better. On the day before Christmas Eve, I woke up to an owl tapping at the window. I let the owl in and fed it before taking my letter and sending it back outside. I smiled recognizing Draco’s handwriting.

How are things at the burrow? I hope not too bad. I’ve already written to Harry and Ginny and they said you were coming here the 27th. Can’t wait to see you then.

I smiled. I could handle four days. I grabbed some parchment and went to write Draco back.

I can’t wait. As far as how things are going here, I’ve mostly been staying in my room or with Fred and George. I guess they did something horrid to Ron and now he won’t go near them. Whenever I’m around Ginny, Rom seems to think he needs to keep asking her on baby names, so, I’ve been keeping from her. Mrs. Weasley is feeling sorry for me though she tries to hide it. She keeps asking me for help in the kitchen and around the house. I know she means well but my mind keeps thinking she’s trying to replace my mum. It’s getting hard. If I survive the next four days, I’ll be surprising myself with my strength. My apologies, this is much larger than I meant it to be, I guess I just need someone to talk to. I’ll see you soon.

I sighed wearily and looked over the letter. Resisting the urge to rip it up, I sealed it in an envelope.

“Harry, can I borrow Hedwig?” I asked knocking on his open door. He looked up at me.

“Yeah,” He said getting her from her cage. I tied the letter to her leg and watched her fly off.

“Hermione,” Harry started. I turned and looked at him, now realizing he was watching me carefully. “Are you okay?” He asked walking over next to me.

“Yes, perfectly fine.” I told him forcing a smile, hoping he didn’t notice the tears I was holding back.

“Okay.” He said sighing though I knew I couldn’t have fooled him. I walked out of the room, feeling his eyes on me, watching my every step.

“I’m going for a walk.” I told Mrs. Weasley grabbing my heavy cloak and checking to see I had my wand. I got outside and quickly cast a warming spell on myself, looking around at the falling snow. I started down the road and sang softly to myself.

“Hermione!” Someone yelled. I turned to see Harry running toward me. He caught up to me and started walking next to me, not saying anything. I looked around as we kept walking, enjoying the fact Harry wasn’t trying to make conversation.

Christmas Eve and Christmas passed with a great feast, majority of my time spent hiding in Ginny’s room. The last thing I needed to see was someone trying to replace my family or seeing how happy Ron and Pansy were. I woke up early on the 27th and quickly got all of my things together. At exactly 12 noon, Harry, Ginny and I floo’d to the Malfoy Manor. I stumbled into a living room, looking around only to find Draco waiting for us. I smiled, wrapping my arms tightly around him, burying my face in his neck, smelling his comforting, familiar scent.

“I missed you,” I mumbled against his neck.

“It was only a week.” He laughed.

“It was a week and a half, a long week and a half. Don’t even pretend that you didn’t miss me.” I told him.

“I did miss you.” He whispered before kissing me on the cheek. Harry cleared his throat and Draco and I pulled apart.

“I’ll show you guys to your rooms.” Draco said. Ginny’s room was first with Harry’s right next to her. We passed a couple doors and Draco showed me my room. I smiled, it was almost exactly like my room at school.

“There’s just one thing,” Draco started. I looked at him with question. “You’re sleeping in my bed.” He stated.

“What if I’m content with my pillow? Or what if I’ve been sharing with Harry and would rather sleep in his bed?” I teased.

“Then I’ll hex his bed out of his room.” Draco stated grabbing me around the waist and hugging me close.

“That’s not very nice.” I stated.

“I’m a Malfoy. I have a temper and get jealous easily, don’t push me.” He mumbled into my neck.

I laughed. “So let me see this room of yours.”

He smiled and grabbed my hand, leading me back into the hall way. His room was a few away from mine and at the very end of the hall. He led me into his room and I looked around, amused. Everything in his room was forest green or black colored wood. He had a king sized four-poster bed in the middle and a door leading to a balcony.

“Not bad.” I told him smiling. I walked over too his bed and sat down. I let myself fall back and stared at his ceiling. “So did you honestly even miss me?” I asked, my eyes not moving from the ceiling.

“Yeah,” he said as I heard him shuffle around his room. He opened and closed a drawer. “I almost went to the Weasley’s a few times.” He stated, “There was nothing to do here but sleep or go to Hogsmeade.”

“I wish you would’ve. Ron would’ve probably thrown a fit but I just stayed in Ginny’s room most of the time.” I said closing my eyes and sighing. I felt the bed sink from the added weight of a person next to me.

“I got you a present.” Draco whispered, this time much closer than before. I opened my eyes to see him propped up on his elbow leaning over me. “I don’t know if you’ll like it, but uh, here.” He said awkwardly, causing me to smile as he handed me a small wrapped box. I opened the box to see an antique silver locket. The locket was an oval and on it had a rose made from rubies. I opened the locket to see a picture of my mum and dad on one side, while the other side sat empty.

“Thank you. This is beautiful.” I whispered. I looked up from the locket and at Draco. “Come here.” I whispered cuddling close to him. He wrapped his arms tightly around me.

“You want me to give you a tour of the manor?” He asked after a moment.

“No.” I mumbled. “Not right now. I just want to stay like this. I just want to be close to you.” I told him.

“Fine by me. We can stay here all week if you want.” He told me smiling, “though we might have to find other ways to occupy the time.” He added wiggling his eyebrows at me and showing his smirk.

“Like me hexing you?” I asked smiling deviously.

“If that’s what you want to call it.” He said winking.

We both laid there not saying anything. “Thank you.” I whispered a moment later, barely audible.

The next morning we all went to Hogsmeade.

“So it seems like Draco has brightened your mood.” Ginny teased as we looked for gowns to wear to the New Year’s Ball.

“Not Draco per se, being away from your lovely brother and his pug.” I told her holding a dress against me and looking in the mirror.

“Try this one.” She said handing me a forest green dress.

“Okay.” I said walking to a dressing room. The gown was form fitting, falling to the floor. It tied around my neck and the back fell on the small of my back. There was a slit on the side, ending just above my knee. I smiled and twirled in the mirror. “I’m getting this one.” I called out to Ginny.

“Let me see!” She called knocking on the door. I laughed and walked out of the room. “Merlin, you better get this one.” She exclaimed. Ginny ended up getting a similar dress, only in a deep plum color.

“Where are the boys again?” I asked as we left the shop, our dresses paid for and sent to the manor.

“Quidditch shop, we’re supposed to meet them at the ice cream shop in ten minutes.” Ginny told me.

“Alright do you want to go now and get some ice cream while we wait for them?” I asked.

Ginny nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah.”

“I don’t really feel like going back to school.” Ginny stated moments later.

“I do. I miss it.” I stated.

“You would.” Ginny laughed. “You just miss having something keeping you occupied for six of the seven days of the week.” Ginny teased as the boys walked up.

“Did you two get your dresses?” Harry asked.

“Yes.” Ginny and I said smiling.

“And?” Draco asked taking a bite of my ice cream.

“And you boys get to wait until tomorrow to see them.” I smiled.

“Well then we should head back. Dinner should be soon.” Draco announced.

“Hermione, Ginny, are you two ready yet? We need to make our entrance.” Draco called through the door. I double checked myself in the mirror then opened the doors.

“Wow.” Draco said smiling and looking at me from head to toe. I felt myself blush under his gaze.

“Hello? Let’s go.” Ginny said walking up behind me and waving her hand in Draco’s face. I tried to hide my smirk. The four of us went downstairs to the ballroom.

“You look amazing.” Draco whispered, pulling me closer to him as we danced.

I smiled. “Thank you. Needless to say, so do you. Just don’t tell your ego.” I joked.

“I won’t.” Draco whispered, winking at me. We sat down and Draco got us champagne. We we’re sitting enjoying ourselves when Ron and Pansy walked over. Draco put his arms around me and placed a kiss on my temple. I sighed and raised my eyebrows at them.

“Hello Hermione, Hello Draco.” Pansy said politely.

“Hello.” Draco and I greeted.

“Hermione, we were wondering if you made a decision to be our child’s God mother?” Pansy asked.

“Oh, yes. I would be honored.” I stated, smiling slightly as I felt Draco pull me slightly closer.

“That’s great! Isn’t it Ron?” Pansy asked looking to Ron, who didn’t say anything, just stood there looking around awkwardly. “We’ll catch up with you later.” Pansy said smiling and dragging Ron away.

I sighed and fell slightly against Draco. “That wasn’t too bad.”

“Let’s dance.” Draco said grabbing my hand as he led me in the opposite direction of the ballroom. He opened the door to a balcony, charmed to stay as warm as it was inside. I smiled and looked out at the stars and snow covered grounds. Draco pulled me close and we began dancing. Having no way of knowing the time, we danced until we began hearing calls of “Happy New Year!” from inside. Draco pulled me close and softly placed his lips on mine. He pulled away and held me securely against him, he pulled apart to look me in the eyes. I smiled and laid my forehead against his.

“Hermione,” he whispered. “Be my girlfriend?” he asked. I smiled and nodded before kissing him again. “Finally,” He whispered laughing after we pulled apart.

The next morning I awoke in Draco’s arms. I smiled and softly began to kiss his jaw line, neck and collarbone, randomly biting his skin.

“This is how you get me to love mornings.” Draco said sighing contently. I smiled and laid my head on his shoulder, my nails idly scratching his stomach. There was a soft knock at the door. “Pretend to be asleep.” He whispered barely audible. I nodded a quick agreement then willed my breaths into a steady pattern. The door squeaked open, only to be closed when receiving now answer. Draco sighed and I yawned and stretched, looking around the room. Draco propped himself up on his elbow, leaning slightly over me. I looked up at him and smiled.

“Good morning Mr. Malfoy.” I said trying not to laugh.

“Good morning.” He told me before planting a soft kiss on my nose. “Let’s spend the day in Hogsmeade.” He offered.

“Okay, just let me shower first.” I told him getting up. He raised his eyebrow at me.

“I’m joining you.” He said getting up. I laughed and walked to the bathroom.

I closed the door behind me and quickly got in the shower. I heard the doorknob rattle then open and a small smile graced my features as I heard Draco laugh.

A/N- Hey guys. I'm so sorry this took so long. I'm not even going to give you an excuse, there is no reason it should've taken me this long to post a chapter and I'm so so sorry. This is the end. :o) I think I may write a sequel if you want one, but I have also started another Draco/Hermione fic and a Hermione/Ron one. Those should be up as soon as I can type them. Keep an eye out! :o)
