A/N: This is my first attempt at romance, so please leave a message. Oh, and be kind if it's not good. Thanks!

Ginny finished her fifth cup of tea, but still could not quell the growing hysteria that was threatening to engulf her.

They were dead. They were all dead. There's nothing anyone can do about it.

She had tried to avoid the subject. This was supposed to be a happy time for her, the summer after she graduated, a veritable fountain of new possibilities, dreams waiting to be realized, plans waiting to be fulfilled. It was supposed to be the happiest time of her life.

Instead, she was left with three holes in her heart where her brother and two best friends had been.

The knowledge that they had taken the most evil wizard to ever live with them brought her little consolation during the endless nights and bottomless boxes of tissues. While most of the world was celebrating, she felt like her heart had been ripped out.

After putting away her tea cup and burying her mind in her sorrows, she found that her feet had taken her to the door in front of Ron's room. No one had been in it since he left.

Softly, she pressed against the door, which opened easily and, to her surprise, without it's usual squeak. The interior of the room seemed hidden in the shadowy depths, but for one small beam of light that filtered in through the window, illuminating a small box on Ron's old bed.

Carefully, she approached the bed. Everything seems so quiet now that he's gone. She sat down next to the box and delicately opened the lid. It contained an array of letters, all addressed to him.

Hanging onto the last bit of her brother she had, she picked up the first letter and read...

I'm writing this in the car on the way back to my parents house, and I'm already missing you. I can't believe we just graduated. It seems like just yesterday you and Harry were saving me from that troll in the girls' bathroom.

My parents are already talking about what I need to pack for our trip to Germany. Of course, I'll probably just pack everything and enchant my luggage to be light and small enough to carry with me.

Keep in touch.

It looks like this summer is going to be rather full for me. England just contacted me, and they want me to train with their World Cup team to eventually replace their seeker next year. Here's to another victory for England!

I just arrived in Germany. The ride here was a little rough because we were in such a small plane (that's what muggles use to fly; honestly, I think you should have taken Muggle Studies). My mum and dad say that we have family here and we'll go see them next week. Oh, this is so wonderful. I only wish you were here so I could share this experience with the person I love.

That's wonderful news about Harry. I knew he had it in him.

Missing you,
July 3, 1998

I'll be staying in Hogsmeade this summer helping your brothers run their new franchise there. Quidditch practices from England start tomorrow and are close by there, and I can apparate to the Academy when I start in the fall.

July 7, 1998

Hey mate,

That's great news! Just as long at you don't pass any laws against our quidditch team, eh?

I'll plan on meeting up with you sometime before we have to head out to the Quidditch World Cup so that we can discuss travel plans.

Congratulations on getting the job. I wish I could see you right now, you must be absolutely dancing.

Professor Dumbledore just sent me an owl about a new position at Hogwarts. Professor Flitwick is retiring and he wants me to take his place as the charms professor! I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself. when I get back from Germany we absolutely have to have some sort of celebration now that we both have jobs.

July 16, 1998

I finally get to see you after all this time away! Germany has been wonderful, but I can't wait to get back. This next week with you is going to be great. Poor Harry, though, reading all of those books in preparation for Auror Academy. Maybe we can invite him over for a day to go to Hogsmeade.

Aug. 1, 1998

I'm glad that you're enjoying yourself. I wish I could be there to see you and Harry.

August 11, 1998

Don't be silly, Ron! Of course we'll still be able to see each other. I'll check my schedule to see which nights I have off and we can plan to meet up weekly at the pub.

I'll see you soon,
Sept. 1, 1998

I'll meet you at the Leaky Cauldron around 8.

Sept. 1, 1998

I really think that we should have a talk about Hermione. How does the Leaky Cauldron sound to you around, say, nine o'clock tomorrow? I figure that you get off of work around then and that might be a good time for you. Let me know.

Your Friend,
Oct. 23, 1998

You have no idea how much of a relief that is to me. I'm glad that the two of you are so happy together.

Best wishes,
Oct. 25, 1998

Ginny dropped the last letter as tears welled up in her eyes. He was happy.
