I appreciate feedback greatly! Kudos to Chloe for gently pointing out all my mistakes ;)

Never knew I could feel like this,
Like I've never seen the sky before,
I want to vanish inside your kiss,
Seasons may change, winter to spring,
But I Love You, until the end of time.

"Look!" Hermione said as she pointed to the sky. "Make a wish!" He laughed at her as she scrunched her eyes up. They were sitting together in the Astronomy Tower. She was leaning on his stomach, between his legs. He had his arms wrapped around her, hugging her tightly to him.

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place.
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste.
It all revolves around you.

"You really are a dork. You know that Hermione?" Harry said chuckling at her antics.

"Yeah." She admitted while turning in his arms. "But you love me anyway." She said with a smile.

"That I do." He said, returning the smile.

Come what may
Come what may
I will Love You
Until my dying day

The moment was broken apart by thundering feet on the stairs. A red head burst through the doors, panting heavily. "Harry!" Ron called.

Harry helped Hermione to her feet as he stood and confronted his best friend. "What's wrong Ron?"

"It's Dumbledore! He says he needs to see Hermione immediately! And alone! It doesn't sound good Harry."

"Hey!" Hermione said indignantly. "I am right here you know!" She said mock pouting and placing her fists on her hips.

Harry gave her an admonishing glance. He wasn't amused at the moment. A few weeks ago they had been secretly inducted into the Order and had been attending meetings. There had been whisperings of something big going to happen soon. A dangerous mission, but no one would clarify. The fact that Dumbledore wished to see Hermione alone, didn't quell the adrenaline that had been pumping through him for the past few weeks.

"Tell the headmaster we are on our way." Hermione said to Ron. When Ron turned and made his exit, she turned to Harry and put her hands delicately on his chest. "Don't brood Harry. It's probably nothing."

Harry wasn't comforted.

When Hermione entered Dumbledore's office, after commanding Harry to wait outside, she was affronted by all the Order members.

She nodded politely to them and then took a seat gracefully in the center of the room that she had assumed was set for her.

Dumbledore cleared his throat and walked to the front of his desk. "Miss Granger, the Order would like to offer you a dangerous task. You may refuse, but if you accept, there is no going back." He said warningly.

Hermione didn't even ponder her answer. She was ready and willing to do anything for the Order. Anything against Voldemort. She could sense the unease in the room. She could feel the tenseness.

"Of course. I will do anything the Order asks."

"Your mission is simple." Professor McGonagall said from her chair where she sat primly with her hands clasped before her. "We have reason to believe that their is a penetration in the school. We would like you to . . . make contact. . . and . . . "

"We want you to become close to Draco Malfoy. Receive the death mark, and penetrate His inner circle at Malfoy's side." Snape finished much less eloquently.

Hermione's heart stopped. Malfoy? Penetrate His inner circle.... "At Malfoy's side?!" She burst out loud.

Dumbledore sighed. "You do not need to accept Hermione. But, we have information that Malfoy would welcome you into his company, and you would be easily ushered into Voldemort's circle, with Mister Malfoy's vouch for you."

Roxanne...You don't have to put on that red light

Hermione was rather confused, but she didn't have time to think about it because her disgruntled boyfriend had just appeared in the center of the room.

Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it is right

"Ah. Mister Potter." Dumbledore said, unperturbed that he had just appeared into the center of a secret meeting.

Roxanne...You don't have to wear that dress tonight

"Come on Hermione." He said while taking her arm.

Roxanne...You don't have to sell your body to the night

"Harry? What are you doing?" She hissed at him as he tried to get her to leave the room.

His eyes upon your face

"You're not doing it." He said in a stern voice.

His hand upon your hand

"Mister Potter." Dumbledore interrupted. "If you would so kindly take a seat." He said as he gestured to a chair that had just appeared next to Hermione's. Hermione looked at him as he threw what she now saw to be his father's invisibility cloak on the ground and sat in the chair with a huff. She, on the other hand, sat back down much more gracefully.

His lips caress your skin

"I don't want her to do it Headmaster." Harry said in an obviously teetering tone. He was trying to bite his tongue and swallow his anger. Hermione wondered how much he had heard.

It's more than I can stand . . .

"How could you ask her to do this!?" He said as his emotions poured over and he burst. He stood up and the adults in the room looked away from him. His distress was well founded. They were asking her to place herself in the arms of her enemy. The enemy who had taunted Harry and she for seven years.

What bothered Harry most, was how willing and ready she was to accept this 'mission'.

Yo que te quiero tanto, que voy a hacer? ( And I who love you so much; what am I going to do?)

"It's not your decision Harry." Hermione said firmly as she gazed up at her boyfriend.

Harry's eyes betrayed the hurt he felt. How could she do this? Didn't she understand what she would have to do?

Me dejaste como una paloma ( You left left me like a dove )

She stood and took his hand in hers and placed the other one lovingly on his cheek. "Wouldn't you do the same thing . . . if you knew it would save me?" She asked him quietly.

El alma se me fue; se me fue el corazon ( My soul has left me; my heart has left me )

Hermione could see the pain written across his face, she could almost taste the metallic tears he was holding back. He knew she was right.

Ya no tengo ganas de vivir porque no te puedo convencer ( I no longer wish to live because I cannot convince you )

Harry turned his back from her gaze and his face away from her touch. She put a hand on his shoulder, as if to bring him back and he shrugged away.

Why does my heart cry?

"Harry. . ." Dumbledore said gently. Harry shook his head and slammed the door behind him.

Feelings I can't fight . . .

Hermione took a moment to breath deeply and then turned back to the members of the Order.

"What must I do?" She asked quietly.

After the meeting Hermione walked down the hall with her head hung. She was nervous. Extremely.

Professor Snape had given her the Slytherin room password, and a new robe that had the green and silver emblem blazed across it. It was surreal. She was switching houses.

Dumbledore said he would announce it in the morning. He had said it as if he could just explain away the questions. How did the Gryffindor Lioness, get switched into that house? Why was Draco Malfoy's arm wrapped around her? What about Harry Potter?

They'd probably think she was disgusting, that she had sunk to a level even lower than the common Slytherin. For sure, she'd loose her friends. She'd loose the respect of all the students in the school. Except the Slytherins, but they didn't truly count did they? Their sense of honor was distorted.

Whoever heard of a mudblood in Slytherin?

She followed the mental directions she had been given to reach the Slytherin Common Room. Unsurprised she stopped before a statue of a large green snake with emeralds encrusted into the head to pose as eyes.

Should she feel so guilty? This was for a just cause. Yet she couldn't help but feel like the virgin maiden being sacrificed into the roaring pit of the volcano.

And when the statue swung open before she could say the password, to reveal a very handsome blonde leaning against the wall as if he knew the feelings he commanded in people, she couldn't help but feel slightly apprehensive.

"Hello Granger." He smirked at her, his hair falling across his eyes.

IT was then that she realized, she was in way over her head.

"The girl's dorm is that way." He said pointing towards a long hallway to the right. "Just follow it till you get to the last door. There are two other girls in there." She then felt his arm go around her waist. "I then expect you back here." He said.

She timidly removed his hands, trying to not cringe at his touch. Why was he so trusting?

The hallway to the dorms was extremely long and slightly depressing. The lighting wasn't nearly as bright and cheery as the Gryffindor dorms, and their seemed to be decorative snakes everywhere.

To her absolute chagrin, as soon as she opened the heavy wood door to her new dorm room, she was greeted by her two new roommates, Pansy Parkinson and Rosalyn Rochester .

"Argh, Rosie . . . this shirt is just... argh.. Can I borrow your green one? I want to look perfect for Dra- What are you doing here!?" Pansy asked in disgust as she noticed that Hermione had entered the room.

Hermione stopped short. Whatam I doing here? She hadn't prepared an answer to such a question yet. Fortunately, Draco came to her rescue.

"Play nice girls." He said from the doorway. Pansy practically flew to his side and made a disgustingly degrading display of affection towards him. He, in turn, ignored her. "I just wanted to make sure you found the room alright." He said as he walked towards Hermione. He at least attempted to walk towards Hermione, but he was slightly hindered by the human leech. "Get off me Parkinson!" he said in frustration.

"Oh! But Drakie!" She protested in an annoyingly high and childish voice.

Hermione rolled her eyes at the girl. Draco, in an uncharacteristic show of gentleman-ness took Hermione's bag, placed it on the only empty bed and then took Hermione by the wrist and tugged her from the room.

As he pulled her down the hallway she looked down at her wrist in surprise and repulsion. He's touching me . . . he's touching a mudblood . . .

She only had to wonder how Dumbledore convinced Draco for a short while because as soon as they reached the common room, he deposited her on the couch.

He stood across from her, assessing her with cold eyes.
She was completely uncomfortable and the amusing thought of Harry beating Malfoy to a pulp entered her head.

"Snape told me." He said abruptly, ruining her pulp-fantasy.

She looked at him, confused.

"Six years . . and you never said anything?"

She now really wished Dumbledore had clued her in. Draco moved to the stiff back armchair across from her.

As he sat she couldn't help but think, too close... too close!

"It's really a shame you wasted so many years . . . especially in that house . . ."

Going out on a limb she said, " How much did Professor Snape tell you?"

"All of it, I assume." He said with a shrug. "He told me you're a pureblood-"

A Pureblood!?

"-and how you're joining us." He then rolled up his sleeve and she forced herself to not turn away when his sleeve went past the mark branded on his arm. "For some reason," he said without taking his eyes off the mark, "the dark lord wishes to inaugurate you tonight. He's wasting no time. . . but I wonder . . " he said now turning his eyes back to her. "Although you are no doubt an asset . . why trust you so quickly?"

She could tell this question was aimed at her. "Because I've always loved the dark arts." She prayed she could pull this off. "They intrigue me."

"But do you believe in our cause?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Do you believe in your cause?? "Yes." She replied.

Draco seemed to think for a moment before he came and sat next to her on the couch.

Way too close! Don't cringe . . just ... stay.. calm....

"So not only is there a bad girl under that school girl façade, a rather hot school girl façade mind you . . but you're a pure blood too . . ." Draco said in a this-is-too-good-to-be-true voice. "What about Potter?" he asked darkly.

Why'd he have to ask that? "We're through . . it's not like I actually loved him. It was an effective way of keeping up my pretense." I'm so sorry Harry

Draco smiled approvingly, then frowned suddenly. "All those years I though you were a mudblood . . all those things I said and did..."

Is he apologizing? . . .Does a Malfoy know what an apology is . . .? This is not the Draco I expected . .

"Hermione?" He said in a earth-to-you tone.

Hermione? I thought I was Granger... "Draco?" She answered in a what-do-you-want voice.

He looked at her, his hair falling across his eyes, and smiled.

Oh Merlin. What am I doing?

Chapter 2: Jealousy Will Drive You Mad

Around eleven thirty Hermione was in her new dorm, with her new roommates. She had closed herself off from their mutinous stares with the bed hangings. It was odd to be surrounded by green and silver all of the time instead of the her normal scarlet and gold. Just the colors of the room around her seemed to dampen her spirits.

As she was setting her book to the side, she had been reading in an attempt to comfort herself, there came a knock at the door.

She heard one of her roommates jump up and practically run to the door, throw it open and then squeal, "Drakie!" Then there was a noise of disgust and a small protest as she assumed they were pushed aside. What she did not expect was the bed hangings around her being thrown open to reveal a smirking Draco and a very sullen and put off Pansy.

"Let's go Granger." Well there's some reassurance . . . we're not on a first name basis . . nothing has changed . . At least, that's what she tried to convince herself.

"What do you want Malfoy?" She said showing no signs of obeying his bidding. "You can't just waltz into my dormitory, throw open my bed hangings and then assume I will do whatever you say.

"It's time Granger." He muttered under his breath, his eyes cast down.

"Oh . . ." Hermione felt rather stupid at that moment. of course . . . the inauguration . . She scooted forward off the bed and noticed that she was fully dressed. She knew she had changed out of her everyday clothes .. so what the . . . She looked at Malfoy with a curious expression and he shrugged.

"You're wasting time." He said.

"Did you . . ."

"Yes Granger. It's a simple spell. Now come on." He said taking her arm, and not very gently. "We can't be late."

Hermione didn't refuse, she simply followed him. He pulled her right out of the common room and into the hallway. He stopped when they reached the end of the darkly lit corridor. He turned around and looked at her intently.

Harry is smashing in his face..... wiping that smile right off . . . making blue and black rings around those.... eyes....

"Listen, take my hand." He said offering it to her. She looked down at it and timidly took it with her own. "Whatever you do . . do not let go of me." His eyes never left hers and she noticed that his hand had started to reach up towards her face.

Then something tore his eyes from hers and he dropped her hand. The almost kind expression that had come over his face was instantly replaced by it's old sneer. Hermione turned around to see what had caught his gaze, and what she saw made her heart stop.

Harry was standing about 20 feet away, alone and very vulnerable looking. Oh Merlin . . . Harry . . She knew this would tear him apart, and the fact that Malfoy's arms had snaked around her from behind and his head was rested on her shoulder, was not helping matters.

"Hermione?" He said gently, coming towards them. Harden your face Hermione . . . You have to pull this off . . . there are other people's lives at stake . .

"What do you want Potter." Malfoy spat at Harry from behind her.

Harry ignored Malfoy and kept his gaze on Hermione's. He kept walking closer until he was only inches away. "Hermione?" He asked again as he reached for her.

Malfoy reacted instantly. He stepped in front of Hermione, between her and Harry and looked Harry square in the eyes. "Hands off Potter."

And when Harry looked at Hermione, thinking she would protest, he was shocked to see that she didn't say anything, wouldn't look at him.

Malfoy raised his wand and pointed it at Harry. "You're annoying Potter. We have somewhere to be. You're making us late." He said in almost bored tone. "Cru-"

"-No!" Hermione said as she found her voice and pushed Malfoy's arm down. Malfoy looked at her suspiciously and she had to think fast.

"Let's go .. Draco." She said, trying not to stutter on his name. "He is waiting. . ." She said, he meaning the dark lord.

Draco? Harry's mind protested.

Malfoy still looked unsure, but Hermione wrapped her arms around his waist, as she had done so many times to Harry, and her looked down at her as she said. "He's not worth it."

She refused to look at Harry. She knew she would crumble completely if she saw his eyes.

Malfoy threw one last hateful stare back at where Harry was and then pulled Hermione after him.

. . . . Hermione . . . . why? The thought sprung from Harry as he collapsed against the dark wall.

It echoed back in Hermione's mind. What had she done?

"Where are we going?" Hermione asked Malfoy as he pulled her across the grounds. She noticed they were going to the forest as they passed the lake. "The forest?!" She squeaked.

Malfoy stopped and looked down at her with an amused expression on his face. "You're scared? The Great Hermione Granger is scared of a bunch of trees?"

"It's not the trees." She mumbled with her head downward. "Rather, it's what's in them. . ."

"Hey." He said as to her shock, he lifted her head gently by placing a cold hand under her chin. "I've gotta get you there in one piece. You're safe with me."

Now why does that not sound too reassuring . . . why is he being so sweet . . . and why . . . why am I not as disgusted by him as I should be .. . . .

"Let's go." He then said gruffly.

As they reached the edge of the forest she tried not to cringe in fear. He pretended not to notice that her hand clenched his tighter than was necessary as they crossed into the dark. He walked for a few moments and Hermione wondered if he had any idea where they were going, until he stopped abruptly and she bumped into his back.

"Now. Come here." he beckoned to her. She put her arms hesitantly around him and he put one firm arm around her back to secure her tightly to him. Don't let go."

. . don't show repulsion . . . his arms are warm . . . but this is different from Harry . . . I don't like the difference . . .

"What are you doing?" She asked. "We can't apparate . . . "

"Just hold tight." He said and then he muttered a few words softly. Even though his mouth was above her ear, she couldn't make out what he said. Then there was a blinding flash of light and she closed her eyes tightly shut.

When she opened them back up she was no longer on the Hogwart's grounds. The air was cold and she was shivering. Malfoy took his cloak off and draped it over her shoulders. She was repulsed. His scent clung to it and although the warmth it offered was comforting, what it represented was not.

She forced a smile on her lips and glanced at him. It seemed to take him by surprise.

"This way." He said as he led her down an alleyway that was to their left.

When they reached about halfway he stopped and looked around to make sure they were alone. then he said something and a door appeared in the wall.

This is almost too easy . . . this must be their headquarters . . .but I don't know how we got here....

She was awaken form her thoughts by his pulling on her arm.

The room they entered was dark and musty smelling.

"Draco?" A cold voice said from somewhere in the room.

"Yes. Father." Malfoy replied from behind her.

Then the lights came up and at what she saw, she almost screamed.

They were surrounded.

Chapter 3: We Are Creatures of the Underworld
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

We're creatures of the underworld. We can't afford to love.

Hermione jumped back in shock, into the arms of Draco Malfoy. Under the circumstances, she felt these were much safer than what was around her.

"Miss Granger?" A voice drawled from underneath one of the black cloaks. She didn't know how Draco knew who was who, they were all wearing the same cloak and the hoods fell over their faces.

Draco's arms tightened around her as he replied, "Yes. Where's the Dark Lord?"

"He's not coming." Another voice drawled from under a hood behind her.

"What?!" Draco asked in shock, or maybe it was indignation.

"He is unable to make it this evening." A voice from Hermione's left said. She noticed that Draco was shaking, in anger or fear, she wasn't sure, but a figure had just stepped forward towards them.

Thank Merlin Voldemort is not here . . . he would have seen my thoughts . . . he would have known . . .

"Our master is predisposed, it seems that oaf that runs the wizarding school is causing problems."

Note to self: hug Dumbledore . . . and buy him socks .. nice thick . . . wool.. no silk... silk socks....

The figure than threw back their cloak to reveal shimmering blonde hair. "Move aside Draco." Lucius drawled at his son.

Draco frowned at his father and stepped backwards, leaving Hermione to stand timidly on her own in the center of the dark room.

"This . . . inauguration. . . will begin with an initiation of sorts. Are you prepared Hermione Granger?"

"Y-yes" Hermione stuttered out, completely confused about what was happening. Malfoy had never mentioned an initiation. Her thoughts were interrupted by a cold voice.

Then the most blinding pain she had felt in her entire life engulfed her as if it were a living flame. She collapsed on her knees and wrapped her arms around her abdomen, but could not keep from crying out.

This pain was unreal, parts of her body hurt that she didn't know existed. Tears formed at her eyes and poured down her cheeks. When would it end . . .

When the spell was lifted she sat on the ground panting. She groaned in pain because the discomfort did not lift immediately.

She hadn't seen Draco's eyes flash at his father . . .

Draco came to her side and helped her to her feet, slowly. She used his legs and arms as braces and pulled herself up. Shakily, she pushed her hair out of her eyes, and then pushed her shoulders back and her chin high, trying to regain some sort of dignity.

"Good." The cold voice of Lucius Malfoy reached her ears. "Come here now." She felt Draco's hold on her arm tighten slightly as she began to walk away, and then he let go completely. She walked to him, crossing the whole room and feeling the eyes of so many followers of the dark lord on her. She felt outrageously outnumbered.

When she reached Lucius, he grabbed her arm rather roughly and rolled her sleeve up. "This may hurt." He sneered. Hermione watched in fascination as he pointed his wand at her upper arm and muttered some words that she couldn't identify. A snake slowly slithered from his wand tip and landed on her arm. It circled and she watched it curiously.

But, when it sank it's fangs into her arm she shrieked in shock. Once it's fangs were deep it tightened it's grip and sank into her skin. Disappearing. She clawed at her arm, but the snake had simply disappeared, leaving a black mark in the shape of a skull. She watched in horror as the mark then formed a snake through the mouth as if it were a tongue.

She fought the bile rising in her throat.

"Very good. Leave." And just like that they were dismissed.

Draco waited until they had exited the alleyway to approach Hermione and as he did, she fainted. He rushed towards her and caught her before she could hit the ground, and almost as quickly she woke back up.

"Why am I on the ground .. in your arms . . " She looked around and then it must have come back to her because she covered her face with her hands.

"I'm sorry Hermione." Draco said as he got up and walked away, leaving a perplexed Hermione in his wake.

The next morning, Hermione woke up in her new bed, plagued still by the dreams that had haunted her all night. Today was not going to be easy. This part was harder to play than she thought it would be. She slowly rose from bed and dressed herself in her new green and silver robes and then made her way down to the common room.

Draco was waiting for her by the fireplace. He said nothing about the events of the previous night, only started out the door and headed towards the Great Hall for breakfast. Hermione, unknowing of the way, quickly scurried after him, absent mindedly running her hand over the mark on her arm underneath her robes.

Draco stopped in front of the large doors and waited for her. Without saying anything he took her hand and then continued through the doors. She took a deep breath and prayed no one would notice, but they were considerably late and luck hadn't been on her side for a while now.

She wouldn't say that the hall went silent and all eyes cast at her, but the Gryffindor table did. And the ones she felt burn the most were the ones that she loved the most. She held her head high and followed Draco to his normal spot at his table, where he knocked Crabbe off the seat next to him and she sat in his stead.

"They're staring at you." Draco said as he leaned over to whisper in her ear. "Is it because you look so much better in the colors green and silver?"

Repulsion . . . grossed out ... get away from me you animal . . .

She lifted her eyes and gazed at her old table. She was affronted by many cold stares and many turned backs, but her eyes were drawn almost instinctively to Harry's.

She felt an arm go around her and looked over her shoulder. Draco had pulled her to him as if it was second nature and continued talking to the person on his right.

This action was met with many more stares and she had to cast her eyes down at her plate. Dumbledore than stood and announced that due to recent events, Hermione Granger had been resorted into Slytherin.

Harry stood from his table, and ignoring the protesting of his house-mates, stormed out of the Great Hall, followed by Ron who gave Hermione a look of pure venom that tore at her heart.

Had they condemned her so quickly? Did anyone doubt what they heard? They had all abandoned her to fate. Why didn't anyone question it instead of condemning her? As she thought this Draco's hold on her waist became tighter.

"Harry!" Ron called out as he chased his friend down. "Harry wait up!"

Harry didn't stop. A pack of DeathEater's could not have stopped him. His heart was somewhere back in the Great Hall. The turmoil, the pain, that had raged through him when he had seen her enter with Malfoy. . . He never could have prepared himself for that, and she acted as if it was so natural! As if she wasn't even considering having second thoughts. . .

It obviously wasn't tearing her up, so why was it tearing him up so much?

"Mate." Ron huffed out of breath, when he finally reached Harry. "She's a two timing tramp. She's traded sides. Forget about her. We were deceived for many years . . . this is who she really is."

Harry's body gave out underneath him and he slid down the wall.

"Harry!" He vaguely heard Ron call out, then all went black.

When Harry woke up in the hospital wing he wouldn't speak to anyone. If someone came near him he turned his face away. Madame Pomfrey said she had no idea what was wrong with him, he was in perfect health.

But Ron knew. Ron knew it was his heart. His heart was giving out on him. He was emotionally drained and no potion could heal him.

When Dumbledore walked into the ward later that night to tell him that it was time, Harry rose like a robot. He didn't care.

Dumbledore explained that Professor McGonagall had been kidnapped by the deatheaters as a blatant call for Harry to expose himself.

It was time.

Time to fight.

"Hermione!" Draco came ripping into the dormitory out of breath. He grabbed the surprised girl by the arm and dragged her out of the school.

"Where are we going Ma-Draco" She said, catching herself mid word.

"It's time. The war has begun. The Dark Lord kidnapped Professor McGonagall."

Hermione gasped in shock. "Is she alright?!" Draco didn't answer and Hermione demanded, "Is she alright Draco?!"

"She's dead Granger." He said without looking at her.

"No." Hermione whispered in disbelief.

"What was that?" Draco asked.

"Nothing." She answered back. "Where are we going?"

"There's a portkey waiting for us, it will take us to the battle ground. The Order cornered the deatheaters in a forest somewhere."

She took hold of the portkey, while noticing that there were others there from Slytherin, even a Hufflepuff and two Ravenclaws. She noticed Draco's arm holding her tight, and the next thing she knew they were in the middle of a forest.

She was lost in the rage of battle instantly.

People fell all around her. Spells shot haphazardly in every direction. She saw the faces, bloodied and disfigured, of people she knew.

She did the one thing that came to her mind.

She ran.

Chapter 4: The Show Must Go On
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be love loved in return."

Another hero
Another mindless crime
Behind the curtain
in the pantomime

On and on
Does anybody know
What we are living for?

"No!" Her voice called out into the thick night. She ran through the trees, darting left and right. Limbs scratched her face and snagged at her robe. She hurtled through the blackness, jumping over lumps, trying to not imagine the damage done to the remains she was running past. Praying she wouldn't see their faces and recognize them, and yet at the same time, straining to discern their faces. Praying he wasn't lying there.

Whatever happens
We leave it all to chance
Another heartache
Another failed romance

"Harry!" She called into the blinding rain. She didn't know why, but she knew that he must be here somewhere.Three days after The Order's proposition she had been welcomed into the deatheater's ranks. Her arm now permanently bore the mark, and she was ashamed of it. Even though she had done it for the greater good.

She hadn't been able to see Harry and Ron while she was undercover. She had been aching for Harry's arms to be around her for three days of pure hell. Yet, she was oddly proud of her accomplishments. Draco had welcomed her with open arms, as Dumbledore had predicted, but it had not been easy. She had had to do things that brought a horrible taste to her mouth just when she thought about them.

Shame flowed through her, but it tingled with pride, and now fear as she searched the cold forest for any sign that he was still alive.

On and on
Does anybody know
What we are living for?

"Harrrrry!" She called out with all the energy she could muster.

The show must go on

"I am here." A cold voice came from behind her. She turned quickly and met a gaze that chilled her blood.

"Harry?" She said as she went to him, wanting to fold into his embrace.

Outside, the dawn is breaking
On the stage
That holds our final destiny

"Get away from me!" He said as he backed away from her touch.

She looked at him with hurt dripping form every pore in her body.

The show must go on

"Don't touch me." He hissed at her. She felt her heart breaking inside her chest. "You went from me to him!" He accused wildly.

It had only been three days, had he forgotten already?

"Harry . . . the Order asked me . . . I didn't-"

"Don't come near me." He said as he pulled away from her advancement again. "Don't ever touch me again." And he turned his back on her and walked away.

Inside, my heart is breaking
My makeup may be flaking
But my smile
still stays on

Two arms came around her from behind and she was turned into the body of a cold blonde. "What's his problem?" He asked nonchalantly.

"Oh." Hermione said with a fake smile plastered all over her face. "Who knows. Stupid git, thinks he's important or something . . ." Every word tore at her already wounded heart and the syllables made her tongue bleed.

Draco smirked at her and then gestured deeper into the forest. "Shall we my dear?"

The Show Must Go On

"Yes. Let's." She said, feigning excitement and trying not to look back.

I'll top the bill
I'll earn the kill
I have to find the will to carry
On with the
On with the
On with the show

She put her arm in his and followed him deep into the trees.

They emerged in a clearing where there was a mass of dark cloaked figures in a circle. Draco smiled at her and nodded towards the horde. She tentatively let go of his arm and made her way to the front of the group. What she saw, made her heart stop and bile rise in her throat.

If I should die this very moment. . .

There were bodies, strewn in grotesque positions in the center of the circle.

I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here

In the center of this pile, was a black haired boy. His glasses were askew and his hair flopped down over his eyes. His cheeks looked as if they were tear-stained, while there was blood stains all over his previously emerald cloak.

Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you

Tears pricked at her eyes. Why? Why? She collapsed on her knees. The ground was muddy and wet but she didn't care. Draco looked at her curiously. Then she spun around and roared.

"What did you do to him!?"

Why live life from dream to dream
And dread the day...

The eyes of the deatheaters shifted and locked onto her. They now knew she was not truly one of them. She had betrayed herself.

Harry's head lifted feebly from the ground and he gazed at her in shock.

. . .when dreaming . . ends.

"So you've shown your true colors now Hermione." Malfoy said as he pulled out his wand. "There's no turning back."

"Avade Ke-"

"No!" The speaker was cut off mid-spell as Harry hurtled between them. "It's me you want Malfoy! Leave her out of this."

"Gladly." Malfoy smirked as he removed his cloak and threw it to the ground.

Never knew I could feel like this
It's like I've never seen the sky before

Hermione caught Harry's arm as he turned to walk away. "Harry?" She asked, only moments ago he had looked on the verge of death.

Without explanation he pulled her to him and she welcomed his arms wrapped tightly around her. "I couldn't do it." He whispered in her ear. "I couldn't find the energy to fight back, knowing I didn't have you fighting with me."

"You've always had me Harry." She whispered back.

Want to vanish inside your kiss
Every day I'm loving you more and more

Harry looked at her momentarily and then swept her lips against his.

Listen to my heart can you hear it sing?
Come back to me and forgive everything!

"Move away from her Potter. Or I'll kill her too." A cruel voice interrupted.

Hermione felt Harry's lips go cold. He turned around and forced Hermione behind him and raised his wand.

"So we meet again." The voice taunted. They looked around furiously, but they saw no one. Draco was leaning against a tree with a smirk plastered across his handsome face.

"Show yourself you coward." Harry taunted back. "Come out and play, Tom."

The voice laughed and filled the air all around them. Then two red eyes materialized in front of them, followed by a cloaked body.

I was a fool to believe . .

"Run Hermione!" She thought she heard Harry call to her.

It all ends today. . .

Everything was happening so fast that she wasn't sure.

Yes, it all ends today

Then she saw Harry dueling with a wizard who's very essence betrayed him. Voldemort.

Today's the day when dreaming ends

"Harry!" She called to him as she ran. She was stopped by Draco. She collided into him and he smirked down at her.

"Where you going Granger?" He asked tauntingly.

"To save my boyfriend." She answered defiantly with her chin in the air.

Malfoy looked at her with an eyebrow raised, bordering on shock. Had she seen. . .no . . . it couldn't have been . .. Jealousy? Sadness?

All these thoughts vanished when he muttered something vile in which she thought she heard the words 'mudblood' and 'git'.

I follow the night
Can't stand the light
When will I begin
To live again?

Her first reaction was to hit him. And she did. Hard. He bent over double on the ground at her feet cursing her with tears of pain in his eyes. She spat on him.

"Don't call me mudblood, you pureblood trash."

One day I'll fly away
Leave all this to yesterday
What more could your Love do for me?
When will Love be through with me?

Then she turned her eyes towards Harry. The battle was thick. They threw spell after spell at each other but neither would relent.

Why live life from dream to dream?
And dread the day when dreaming ends

Her eye was caught by a dark figure creeping up on the two. "Harry!!" She called out in warning as she ran to him. Her mind reeled, he'd never hear her in time!

“Avada Kedavra!”

A searing pain pierced her side as she heard the spell echoed by Harry’s voice.

“Avada Kedavra!!”

Then two very familiar arms were around her. She felt the energy sapping from her. She looked weakly up at him as he dragged her body onto his lap.

“Harry....Voldemort...” She whispered.

“He’s dead love.... he’s dead..” He whispered back.

" I couldn't, I saw you there and I couldn't and Draco he's so... , I'm tired I don't want lie , and he knows! I don't want to pretend anymore, I don't want to lie." Her eyes were already closing on her. Her head was too heavy to hold up.

“Please don’t Hermione.” He begged her with tears in his eyes.

One day I'll fly away
Leave all this to yesterday
Why live life from dream to dream?
And dread the day when dreaming ends

“I love you Harry.” She whispered as the darkness claimed her mind. She couldn’t fight it any longer. Her body sagged against him as her eyes fell shut, never to open again.

One day I'll fly away
Fly, fly away

“No!” He cried long after she was beyond any help. The battle had ended after Harry had uttered those horrid words. The two words that had destroyed the dark lord and in turn the dark lord had destroyed the beautiful girl in his arms.

He had felt betrayed, he couldn’t endure the thought of her lying in the arms of another. Especially Draco Malfoy. And the guilt that he had wasted their last three days together in a fit of prideful anger, tore his heart.

“Why did you do it Hermione?” He asked as he rocked back and forth hugging her body to him. “Why did you jump in front of me?” He whispered in her ear. Then he turned his face towards the sky and let his anger and pain unleash.

Come what may
Yes, I will Love You
Come what may
I will Love You
Until my dying day

Fate was cruel, the wizarding world had it’s peace. But at what cost?

How much was too much to pay . . . for people you don’t even know?

How much would you have sacrificed . . if you had known what you would have to loose. . .

The Historical Archives of The Ministry of Magic:
ATTN: To Whom it may concern,

I feel that these events need to be documented in some fashion, and I hope I will do them justice. Attached is the account of a fated love, the story of the boy-who-lived and the lioness of Gryffindor. I feel that her death is partially my fault, because the mission was a fake. Draco Malfoy had approached me a week or so before and revealed his intentions to join The Order. Miss Hermione Granger was sent in as a decoy to keep the DeathEaters' suspicion away from Draco Malfoy. The loss of such a witch is mourned throughout the school and community, and the hole she has left can never be repaired. I wish you to keep this manuscript in the archives so that future generations can learn from past mistakes. Her sense of duty betrayed her. Her loyalty set her down a course that could never be backtracked. She was a witch beyond reproach, and I feel I have failed them. She and Harry. No one involved will ever be the same.

I sat down, and I wrote their story. A story about a time, a story about a place, a story about the people. But above all things, a story about love. A love that will live forever.

I leave this as my last testament. The dying wish of an old, old man. Keep this tale safe, and when the time is right, tell the world.
