The Ship of Dreams

*****************************************************************

Seventeen year old Hermione Jane Granger looked around her at the thousands of people waiting to board a beautiful ship; she was one of them, one of the lucky people to board the Titanic. The grandest ship in the world, the ship of dreams. This ship would take her to a new place, to America and a new life. She’d find a husband and settle down have children get a good job. She would thrive and she would succeed. She would put her horrid past behind her and continue to a fresh start. She had pulled her bushy head of hair into a tight ponytail that morning, washed her face in her bedside basin, changed her clothes. She changed herself, put together the essentials she needed, purchased her ticket months before and walked away from her life with her abusive father and slut of a step mother.

She whistled as she walked through the crowd and boarded the most stunning ship she had ever seen.
“Third Class,” said the boy at the door. He had a big bright face and a head of floppy hair. He was a bit on the chubby side but he had a cheery disposition. “Down the stairs ma’am.” He said pointing to the steel stairs opposite.
“Thank you.” Hermione said, taking her very small suitcase and walked down the long flight of cold stairs.

The walls of her room were bare and cold. The bed was lumpy and there was a distinct smell of rats. But as she threw her bag on the top bunk of the bunk beds she had never felt happier. She sat on her bed and drowned out the sounds from around her and fell into a slumber in which, she tossed and turned.

The crowd parted to let in a massive car, it was black, very posh looking, its driver looked stern and the windows were covered so the passengers were a mystery. The cars horn honked the crowed moved further away from the motor vehicle. It stopped. The driver got out. He opened the door and out came a young man now older than seventeen dressed in only the best of clothes. The some of the crowd were awed by who this was, this was Harry Potter – saviour of the Wizarding World– he was very famous. Out of the other side stepped two gentlemen. One who smiled gladly at the site of the ship, the second a sandy blonde haired man clapping his friend on the back. They both walked around the car towards Harry.
“Well,” The first man said putting his arm around Harry’s shoulder “This is it. The start of a new life.”
“Now remember the rules of the ship, there are muggles aboard so no magic. “Said the second man.
“We know Remus.” Said the first man.
“Well Sirius, just to remind you – I know what you’re like.” Said the man called Remus, Sirius just laughed.

They gave their luggage to the service people and board the beautiful ship via the first class entrance. The place was immaculate it sparked it was so clean. Harry smiled – it would be smooth sailing. He thought. They were shown by a young man around 16 to their rooms. It wasn’t to far a walk, they had the best rooms aboard, and they were special guests of the Minister of Magic who was also aboard. Harry stepped through to his bedroom. In the far corner was a large bookcase which he would never read. Then next to them some red and gold sofas next to a giant intricate designed fireplace. Then there was the door leading to a closet. The bed was massive at least seven people could fit in it. Harry smiled and forgot all pretences and jumped on the bed. It was soft and smelt lovely.
“Harry.” Said Remus in a very parental tone. That was Remus though, very careful about how they looked to everyone – he was very protective as well.
“Sorry.” Said Harry as he sorted himself out.

They settled down and the maids unpacked their things. Everything seemed to be going brilliantly. Harry heard the horn of the ship blow.
“Hey, I’m going to go to the deck wave to people I don’t know.” He laughed. He made his way to the door just after he heard Sirius shout to him that they would be at lunch with some of the Ministers friends. He’d have to meet them later. He pulled open the door and walked out into a slightly crowded corridor and on his way to explore the ship a little.
