When one loves another, but find out they've been lied to, what will they do? But what will the third person do when he finds out the others still love each other?

Chapter 16: Tears

I am sooooooooo sorry for the wait. I've been busy with production performances which lasted three night (not to mention costumes, make-up, props etc.) and then the chapter got rejected. Anyway, here's the sixteenth chapter.

BTW, this chapter is a little sad, but you might need to read it to understand the rest of the story.

Chapter 16: Tears

“Hermione, we need a shop name,” Harry said very suddenly to Hermione during dinner.

Hermione was very surprised at the sudden comment, but recovered quickly.

“Yes, I agree too. We need to be organised before we graduate.”

“We also need more books. We need books other than the book you published earlier than this year. I mean, how weird would it be if there was only one book in the whole store?” Harry also added.

“Well, I’ve got that all sorted!” Hermione said brightly, when Harry looked at her confused, Hermione went on. “I published two more books throughout the whole year, and no one’s said anything about it because they don’t think it mattered much. Only Rita Skeeter, that old hag, would report something on that.”

“But three books aren’t enough to open a book shop Hermione,” Ron had gotten over the fact that he had to stay at Hogwarts for another year, though sometimes he still went a bit moody.

“Then we can put in some other books.”

“About Harry of course, I’m sure there are some books that are correct. We can also do a small corner of muggle books,” Hermione replied. “For muggleborns,” she added when she saw Harry and Ron’s expression of bewilderness.

Shortly afterwards, Ron went to find Luna at the Ravenclaw table, and Harry and Hermione stood up.

“Er, Harry, you go, I just need to go to the library.”

“Hermione,” Harry groaned. “The exams have finished.”

“Yeah, I know, but I just need to get a book.”

Harry rolled his eyes, but he turned around nonetheless. Hermione turned around into the gloomy corridor that led to the library when someone slid their arms around her waist. Knowing who it was, she smiled as she turned around and faced Draco.

“Hello love.”

“Hi Draco. I haven’t seen you all day,” Hermione whispered to him. “And I’ve been wanting to do something all day…”

Hermione leaned up to Draco and met her lips with his. Draco kissed her back. It was a soft kiss, but passionate nonetheless. Draco’s tongue played around at Hermione’s lips, obviously asking permission to enter. Hermione opened her lips and Draco’s tongue immediately dived in. And their tongues held a fierce battle.

Suddenly, there was a loud shriek. They broke apart and Pansy Parkinson stood there, looking horrified at them.

“Draco! Why are you kissing that Mudblood?” Hermione winced. No one had called her a Mudblood in ages.

“For your information Parkinson ” Draco added emphasis on ‘Parkinson’, and now it was her turn to wince. “Hermione is my girlfriend, and I have every right to kiss her.”

“Don’t make me laugh. You only even started dating her as a dare from Blaise!”

Ringing silence was left behind her. Hermione turned around slowly, and stared at Draco. Draco however, was staring at Pansy with utmost disgust on his face.

“How dare you,” his voice was low and cold, it actually scared Hermione a lot. “Get out of my view, and I never want to see you again.”

Pansy’s eyes were streaked with tears.

“Are you choosing the Mudblood over me Draco?”

“So what if I am?”

Pansy ran off, face streaked with tears.

“Draco, I think you should go explain. Even if I do hate her a lot, I still think you should go explain, I mean, she did look really upset,” Hermione said.

“No. She really only likes me for my money. That’s all,” Draco growled. “She is just an absolute bi-“

“Draco! Even if that is the case, maybe just go explain?”

“There is nothing to explain. I never loved her, she never loved me, she only loved my money.”

Hermione pouted her lips. “Hmph! That’s not an excuse. Oh well…”

Hermione and Draco both entered the library together. A voice came from behind them.

“Draco, we need to talk.”

Hermione and Draco turned around, Blaise was standing there.

“Oh, you survived the war did you? You didn’t die?” Draco asked coldly.

“Yes, as you can see, I am very much alive. Anyway, Pansy tells me you’ve made some,” Blaise looked towards Hermione. It was not unnoticed by either of them. “Decisions.” He finished.

“She came to you quickly. Was she crying her head off?” Draco’s voice was still cold.

“Close to. She’s gone back to the common room now, and I need to talk to you right now.”

“Well then spit it out. I’m listening.”

“Fine. Wait for me here,” he told Hermione.

The boys left, no doubt to go to a nearby classroom. Hermione went to find some books, but she found herself unable to concentrate. Finally, curiosity overwhelmed her, and she went to find the boys. She heard angry voices coming from a classroom.

“She’s a Mudblood!”

“Do-not-call-her-that-in-front-of-me,” Draco said each word clearly.

“I can call her whatever I like thank you very much. Have you forgotten it was a dare?”

“I know it was a dare, and it still is!”

"Still a dare? Yeah like you act it. You like her Draco Malfoy, you like her."

No I don't. I don't like her. I-"

Hermione could listen no further. She had been tricked, Draco was lying. He still thought her as a Mudblood, he didn’t love her. Harry was right. Draco was only playing with her feelings. All those kisses, hugs, and even petrifying his father was just to gain her trust so he could hurt her more. Tears brimmed Hermione’s eyes. Before she knew it, she was crying. She ran back to the library and grabbed her bag. Then she ran back to her common room. Harry was sitting on the couch.

“Hi Hermione! What took you so long?”

He turned around and was alarmed to see the silent tears pouring from her face.

“Hermione! What happened?”

He quickly ran over and put an arm around her, then he guided her over to the couch.

“Harry! Oh Harry!” Hermione sobbed into Harry’s shoulder. He patted her back and comforted her.

Finally, Hermione’s tears ceased. Although she would occasionally hiccup.

“Harry! It was all-hic-all a trick! He-hic-was lying t-hic-to me!”

“Hermione, what do you mean? Is it Malfoy?”

Hermione nodded. “You wer-hic- were right! He wa-hic-was playing with my fee-hic-feelings! I heard him-hic- and Blaise talking abo-hic-about it. He was ly-hic-lying to me all alo-hic-along!”

“What!” Harry stood up, his fists clenched. “I’ll show that ferret, I’ll show him!”

“Harry, please.” When Harry did nothing but clench his fists tighter, Hermione went on. “Please! Harry for me. Don’t get yourself in trouble, please. I need you,” Harry’s expression softened.

He sat back down and put Hermione’s head into his chest, as she started crying once more. After a while, she stopped. Harry looked down at her, and she looked up at him. Their heads were very close together, so close. Without thinking, Harry bent his head and closed the distance of their very close heads, and kissed Hermione.

She kissed back, it was a tearful kiss, but still, somehow, passionate. She had to show Draco the consequences of lying to her. She had to.

Sorry for the very short chapter, but I needed to get this part over and done with to continue the story. Nevertheless, please review!
