Chapter 15: George?

A/N: Hello Readers… this is a very intense chapter. I hope you like it! J

Chapter Fifteen:

Stepping off the train and making my way toward Fred and George’s place Hermione had to keep reminding herself that it wasn’t night and it was still a couple of nights before the full moon. George wouldn’t hurt her if he wasn’t transformed. Plus, it was George we were talking about. Funny, goofy, loveable George. So what if he was a werewolf… that didn’t make Lupin evil and that didn’t make George evil. Then what was she doing here?

She sighed as she knocked on then door. It took a few seconds before she heard footsteps moving around and then finally George opened the door.

He looked extremely shocked to see her. So shocked that he didn’t move for a minute.

“Hermione! Hey!” He smiled sweeping her up into a huge hug.

“Hey, George… I was wondering if we could talk.” Hermione got to the point. She wanted to get back to school before Aiden’s date that night.

“Sure,” George nodded and motioned for her to come in.

After she came in George made some hot chocolate and they sat down in the living room just like Fred and her had done when he first told her the story of what happened to George.

“George… I am not sure how to say this…” She began, looking down into her cup. “I know you are a werewolf. Fred told me what happened and he is worried that you are working for Voldemort.” She flat out said. It wasn’t exactly how she had planned to tell him, but hey, it was a way, right?

“What? He said I was a werewolf working for Voldemort…” George sighed. “I was afraid of this. Hermione, Fred isn’t well. Every since Charlie’s death he has been losing his mind bits at a time. Somehow he talked Lupin into letting him go back to Hogwarts, thinking the Order sent him on some kind of mission. I am sorry if he scared you at all, but I am not a werewolf. I really do think Fred needs to get some help, though.”

Hermione almost believed him for a split second. The only way she knew he was lying was because Aiden hadn’t liked being there. He had said it stunk. She was still smart enough to know that that meant that there was a werewolf around and it wasn’t Fred.

“George, that is a lie and I know it… please… I need your help.” Hermione pleaded, looking into his eyes.

“Are you calling me a liar?” George’s voice changed to fury so fast it nearly knocked Hermione out of her seat. The look in his eye was almost red.

“No… but I know what you said wasn’t true. It is all right to tell me.” Hermione tried to calm him down.

“Tell you? Tell you! I am trying to save you! You and the rest of you sick humans! Fred accused me of working for Voldemort! You might want to ask you little blood sucking friend about Voldemort, because its them who are the one working for him not us! We are trying to fight against them!” Fred roared, his eyes growing red with every second that passed. “Oh! You didn’t think I knew about him did you? Aiden Lawless? I know all about your relationship with him!” With the last syllable of that George morphed into a full fledged werewolf. Hermione gasped as she moved out of her seat as he lunged at her.

“What the hell?” Hermione yelled, moving out of the line of fire again. She didn’t understand how that could happen. They could only change on the full moon. She jumped over the chair, but her foot didn’t quite make it, causing Hermione to fall to the floor, landing on her ankle. She let out a scream of pain and tried to get up, but it was no use. She looked up and saw the ugly werewolf lunge at her. She closed her eyes.

To her surprise nothing hit her. She soon heard a loud crash and her eyes flew open. She saw Aiden on top of the werewolf, for the first time now showing his fangs. He lowered his heard toward the werewolf and Hermione wasn’t for sure why, but knew it would probably kill George.

“Aiden, don’t!” Hermione yelled, crying now. Aiden looked over at Hermione with his “what the hell do you mean, don’t” look. “Please.”

Aiden rolled his eyes and took the werewolf’s head, slamming it down on the floor a few times. After the third time the werewolf slowly morphed back into George and he was bleeding. Hermione tried to get up, but it was impossible. She watched, though, as the blood dried up, but George didn’t open his eyes. Aiden rushed over to her, picking her up, heading toward the door.

“I told you it was dangerous.” He said sounding angry. His fangs were now gone.

“I told you not to follow me.” Hermione replied, and Aiden just shook his head. She knew they would talk once they got back to Hogwarts.

Hermione hated to see that the common room was empty. Everyone was in class and that meant that the common room was empty. Aiden sat Hermione down on one of the chairs.

“Hey, we better get to class, huh?” Hermione gave an attempt, knowing it wouldn’t work the moment she said it.

“I told you it would be dangerous! How did you expect me not to follow? When you go looking for trouble you will find it! How can you be so stupid to go see a werewolf and not be protected in any way!” Aiden yelled.

“It wasn’t a full moon… I didn’t think he could phase…” Hermione explained, trying to make him see.

“Don’t you get that it doesn’t even matter anymore! Voldemort has come up with a way where they don’t have to have a full moon to phase!” Aiden threw his hands up. “How could you be so careless!”

“He said…he said that they weren’t working for Voldemort… he said you were.” Hermione replied, looking up at Aiden, trying to see if there were any truth to what he had said.

“Hermione…” Aiden sighed and sat down in front of her. “I can’t really explain this to you… I myself am not working for Voldemort. You know that. As for the other vampires… I don’t know.”

“What do you mean you don’t know? You are a vampire, are you not?” Hermione questioned, folding her arms, leaning back a bit.

“Yes… but… it’s complicated. Stop asking.” Aiden demanded.

“No! My friend just about killed me and you are telling me to stop asking about it?” Hermione replied, yelling a bit.

“Yes, I am! Damn it, Hermione! Why can’t you just stay out of it!” Aiden was yelling again. “You are getting into things you don’t understand and in way over your head! Don’t you get you could die!”

“Of course I do! But I am willing to take that chance!” Hermione shouted back, making her throat hurt a bit.

“You are a bloody idiot! You should be focused on Voldemort! If you die like you about did today you will never get to him! Think things through!”

“I did! You are the one that didn’t tell me werewolves didn’t need a full moon to morph and you knew! It seems to me you know a lot more about what I am after than you are telling me, Aiden!” Hermione tried to stand up, but her ankle still hurt, so she remained seated.

“That is for your own safety!” Aiden warned.

“Is it? Or is all this just an act to throw me off?” Hermione accused and for a split second Aiden looked hurt.

“Is that what you think? That I am just trying to throw you off?” Aiden questioned, his voice a lot lower now.

“It is a possibility.”

Aiden just shook his head before picking her up again. This scared Hermione a little when he started to move. He first instinct was to scream, but she didn’t.

They ended up in the hospital wing and Aiden hadn’t said a word to her. He sat her on the bed and walked off.

“Miss Granger? Hello, Mr. Lawless told me you fell down the stairs to the girls’ dorm and hurt your ankle. Mind if I take a look?” The nurse asked as she entered Hermione’s little space. Hermione motioned for her to go on.

It turned out that it was broken and she could heal it in no time. Within minutes Hermione was free to go, but classes were over so she wasn’t for sure where she would go. Go find Aiden? She wasn’t for sure if that was the best idea. Go find Draco? She knew that wasn’t the best idea. So she made her way to the library.

Once there she sat down at her normal table, but this time without any books. She was just there to think this time. What had she just done? Lost the only friend she had? Was he even a friend though?

She thought back to everything she had been through with Aiden. He had tried to push her away when they first met and tried to help her learn to fight. But what if that was ordered from Voldemort? He was also secretive and angry. He said it was for her own good, but that could also be the talk of Voldemort.

When she glanced at her watch she noticed it was seven thirty. She wondered if Aiden was at his date. She wondered if he had used her to get to Britni to kill her… she sighed. What was she thinking? Aiden wasn’t like that. He had never been like that. She didn’t know why she had ever thought that. There was something that he wasn’t telling her, that she knew, but it wasn’t that he was working for Voldemort. She just had to find Aiden tomorrow and apologize.

She closed her eyes and tried to get some sleep, but it didn’t come. As she looked over at a near by clock she saw it was nearly two thirty. She sighed and sat up in bed, hating that she was like this. She couldn’t sleep when something was unresolved like that. She wondered if Aiden was in the common room.

As she made her way down to the common room she was very disappointed to see it was empty. He wasn’t there. She highly doubted he was up in the boy’s dorm. He had probably went to watch Britni sleep. As she thought of this she remembered the date and wanted to know badly how it went. She hated that he was angry with her. It was only in this time when she realized how many friends she had. Without him she didn’t have any. Sure there was Pansy, but Hermione didn’t count her as a friend. She sighed and sat down on the sofa.

Minutes later she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see Aiden and she smiled a bit. He didn’t look so well.

“Are you all right?” She questioned him, but he just stared at her, standing in his spot.

“We finish your training now…” He told her and she was confused.

“Listen, sorry about before…” He held up his hand to silence her.

“You have to come to the cave with me now, Hermione. We don’t have much time.” He instructed her, taking a few steps toward her. Hermione shook her head, thinking it was all a dream.

“Aiden, you are scaring me…”

“I am sorry, but we seriously don’t have time for this. Just come with me… trust me.” It was the last two words that made Hermione get up. As much as she didn’t want to admit it she did trust him. With her entire heart, she trusted him. She followed him up the boy’s stair case, wondering where he was taking her.

Once there he picked her up and ran, flying out the window. In minutes they were at the cave. Hermione looked over at Aiden to see he still didn’t look any better.

“What’s wrong… you must tell me!” Hermione demanded.

“I can’t… but I can tell you that you must sleep, because you start intense training tomorrow.” He instructed her, setting her down on the bed she had slept on before. Hermione knew better than to argue with him. She hadn’t seen him like this, but knew not to tempt it.

“How was your date…” She tried.

“We will have plenty of time to talk about that later.” Aiden assured her. “You sleep now.”

Hermione sighed and rolled over, trying to do as she was told. Sleep didn’t come any easier than it had in the castle.
