Chapter 6: Slug Club

Sophie slid open the compartment door, Hermione, Harry, Ginny, and Neville were sitting in the seats closest to the door, Blaise Zabini was sitting next to Neville, and Melinda Bobbin and a brown haired boy that she didn’t recognize were sitting between Slughorn and Blaise.

“Miss Granger,” Slughorn said, “how nice of you to join us, Mr. Zabini was just telling us about his summer, but I think you might have a better story for everyone.”

“What?” she said.

“I was hoping you could tell us about your childhood,” Slughorn said.

“Well, I was in ballet for ten years,” she told them.

“I was thinking you could tell us about your parents,” tears began to form in her eyes, “maybe you can tell us about what thing on your head,” Slughorn pointed to her forehead.

She pulled her bangs over her forehead, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she told him, “but I must be going, I have some things I should be getting to, you know, head girl stuff.”

She turned to the door, pulling it open again.

“Please stay, your classmates seem very interested about your past,” Slughorn told her, Melinda, Blaise and the brown haired kid he was sitting next to seemed to be interested, “I don’t remember you telling us any stories last year.”

“I didn’t tell stories last year, but as I said earlier, I need to get to some heads stuff.”

She walked out of the compartment and slid the door closed.

“How did he find out?” she was practically yelling as she entered the compartment Ron was sitting in.

“How did who find out what?”

“Slughorn,” she yelled pulling her bangs back.

“Oh, that.”

“Who told him?”

“I don’t know, but who cares?”

“I do! He knows something that only you guys and Dumbledore knew,” she told him, “I like not having people know, I don’t want people to stare at me like I’m some animal in a zoo!”

“It would be better than having them look at your chest.”

“Not helping.”

“Sorry, but it is true, it would be better.”

“Still not helping,” she told him, “do you realize how much my life would change?”

“Yes, but I don’t understand why you care so much.”

“You would understand if your parents were killed, and no one knew until you were 17 and then everyone found out that you’re Harry’s sister and survived the same curse.”

“Well when you put it that way, you’re right I wouldn’t understand,” he told her, “but I don’t think people will act as bad if they found out about you, because they would have already known you.”

She smiled and hugged him. He pulled her closer and rested his head on hers. She pulled out of the hug.

“We should be getting to the head’s meeting,” she told him.

Together they walked to the head’s compartment.

They reached the front car and saw the frosted door window with the Hogwarts coat of arms, the words “Head boy and girl” just below the coat of arms. The seats in the compartment were a deep shape of purple. They sat down and soon they were joined by-

“Tonks?” Sophia yelled.

Professor Tonks now,” she said placing her hands on her hips proudly.

“What?” Ron asked, “You teach at Hogwarts now?”

“Yes, I teach transfiguration,” she told them, “and I am head of Gryffindor. Now, you two will have to organize the yearly dances, such as the Halloween and the Graduation dance. There will also be another dance added, a Christmas ball. When the train comes into Hogsmeade station, you need to make sure that there is a prefect at each door so that they can help lead the new students in the right direction. After the feast, meet me in the Entrance Hall so I can show you to your dormitory. Any questions?”

“Can the prefects help organize the dances?” Ron asked.

“No,” she told them, “Now I must go and talk to another teacher. See you at Hogwarts.”

She left the compartment, leaving Sophie and Ron to comprehend what she said.

“So we should start deciding what days the dances should be,” Sophie said on their way back to their compartment.

When they got there Harry and Neville were already sitting in it. Neville was sitting next to window, Harry next to him.

“Well, I was thinking about Lu-,” Neville said before he realized that Ron and Sophie were standing in the doorway.

“What are you two talking about?” Sophie asked as she and Ron sat down, Sophie sat next to the door across from the seat Harry and Neville were sitting in and Ron sat next to her.

“Oh nothing,” Neville said as he turned away from her.

“Ok then,” she said, “Harry, where are Hermione and Ginny?”

“Probably still with Slughorn. Why?”

“I just want to ask them something,” Sophie said, “I guess it can wait.”

“Neville, who was it you had in mind?” Harry asked.”

He mumbled something but Harry didn’t seem to understand what he said.

“He said Luna,” Sophie told him.

“How did you hear that? I’m sitting right next to him and couldn’t hear him.”

“I don’t know, but it sounded pretty loud to me,” She told him.

“Hey, maybe you can help.” Harry said to Sophie.

“With what?”

“He wants to get a girlfriend,” Harry told her, “can you help?”

“Sure,” she told him, “So you want to see if Luna will be your girlfriend?”

“Yes,” Neville said very quietly.

“Ok then,” Sophie said, “I’ll help, can you guys leave us alone for a little while?”

“What?” Ron asked very loudly.

“Ron,” she said calmly, “what did I say earlier?”

“That I can trust you.” He mumbled.

“Right, now, please leave or I will be forced,” she said pulling her wand out and flourishing it.

“Ok, ok.”

Harry and Ron left them alone in the compartment.

“Neville, first thing I have to say is if you want to get a girlfriend, you can’t get all nervous and quiet around me.”

“What are you talking about?”

“When I came in the compartment you got nervous and hid your face, don’t think girls don’t notice. And if you want a girlfriend then you can’t act like that around another girl. We don’t like that. “

“Ok,” he said his voice still sounded nervous.

“And stand up for her if someone is putting her down,” she told him, “If you do that I’m sure you will be fine. And when you ask her out, just ask her.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean if you’re going to ask her out, just say, ‘Would you like to go on a date with me?’ and even come up with some cute place you would think she would like, even if she doesn’t like it she will appreciate it because you tried.”

“And listen if you ever need help just come ask me, and if Ron doesn’t like it he will just have to deal with it,” she told him, “I think that he has trust issues.”

They laughed and for the first time during the train ride he didn’t seem nervous about being with Sophie. Soon Harry and Ron came back in.

“Hermione isn’t back yet?” Harry asked.

“Do you see her?” Sophie said.

“Ok, shut up.”

“Don’t tell me to shut up.”

“Shut up.”

“Stop it.”

“Only if you shut up.”

“I hate you.”

“Of course you do.”

Sophie glared at him, folded her arms and turned toward Ron.

It was about an hour and a half of silence until Hermione and Ginny came into the compartment.

“Did we miss something?” Hermione asked as she sat next to Harry.

“According to Sophie, she hates me,” Harry said with a laugh.

“I do,” Sophie said loudly, although she didn’t sound as though she was serious.

“Wait who’s getting married?” Ginny said, and the whole compartment laughed, even Sophie.

“Apparently Sophie and Harry,” Hermione said.

“Eww, he’s my brother remember?” Sophie said loudly.

“Wait, what?” Neville said.

“Oh yeah, you don’t know,” Hermione said, “right before 6th year we all found out that Sophie and Harry are brother and sister.”

“Oh, ok.”

“Yea, and this is what Slughorn was talking about earlier,” Sophie said as she pulled her bangs back to show him the scar, “No one noticed because it isn’t as visible as Harry’s, from what Dumbledore told me, I was attacked right before Harry, and the curse almost worked on me, so the curse didn’t backfire on Voldemort as much. Although I still got the scar and the powers that Harry got.”

“I never knew that,” Neville said.

“We know,” Ginny said.

For the rest of the ride Neville asked questions about her past and why she was with the Grangers. As the sun disappeared the castle came into view.

“Welcome home Harry,” Sophie told him.
