Chapter 1: My Little Girl

”And now the father, daughter dance.”

Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.
Gonna tell you how much I love you, though you think you already know.
I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.

Arthur held his daughter as the music began to play. The song slowly brought back a memory that seemed like yesterday to him.

He had rushed Molly to St. Mungos early that morning while it was still dark. He sat in a chair next to her and winced as he heard her scream and looked into her red face. Once she had delivered the baby he asked the question that he had asked five times. He was almost positive he knew the answer, “Is it a boy or a girl?”

“It’s a girl!”

Surprise and overwhelming joy filled his and Molly’s faces at once. They hadn’t heard those words before.

He remembered the exact minute that she was first been placed in his arms. She was wrapped in a soft pink blanket. He kissed the top of her head as he thanked the Lord for his precious little girl. She had a mop of strawberry blond hair on top of her head and freckles spread across her nose. She slowly opened her eyes and gave a big yawn. She was the most beautiful baby girl he had ever seen.

Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

He looked up to see his wife standing by her daughter’s new husband, Harry. Molly had happy tears in her eyes as she watched them dance. He looked down at his little girl who was now a grown women and married. She was going into the real world and he wouldn’t be there to hold her hand and help her up when she falls.

When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone.
Now look at you, I've turned around and you've almost grown.
Sometimes you're asleep I whisper "I Love You!" in the moonlight at your door.
As I walk away, I hear you say, "Daddy Love You More!”

The next memory that came to mind made him smile at her brothers. He remembered the day she learned that Bat-Bogey-Hex from Bill. She had only been four or five years old at the time. Later that day Fred made a big mistake and teased her about something. She had used his own wand to hex him.

After he got home from the Ministry and after Molly informed him of what happened he went upstairs to her room. He had fully intended to punish her and tell how wrong it was to do things like that, but her face lit up as soon as he walked though the door and she gave a crooked little smile.

“Daddy!” she said as she ran to hug him. He couldn’t resist her hug. He couldn’t punish his little girl.

Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

Later that night he walked up the stairs, he stopped as he passed her room. He quietly walked in and sat down on the bed next to her. She was sleeping peacefully with a worn out teddy bear in her arms. He smiled and brushed away a piece of hair from her eyes and slid off the princess crown that she had on her head.

”I love you” He said as he leaned over and gently kissed her forehead.

He stood up and slowly walked to the door.

“Daddy, I love you more.” She whispered as he closed the door.

Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand.
But I won't say "yes" to him unless I know, he's the half
that makes you whole, he has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man.
I know he'll say that he's in love.
But between you and me. He won't be good enough!

Arthur looked up at Harry as he remembered the day, Harry asked for Ginny’s hand. Arthur knew Harry and Ginny were perfect for each other and that Harry was already like a son to him. He trusted Harry, but Ginny was still his little girl. She was still the sweet freckle face princess in his eyes.

Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

The song ended and Arthur looked down at his daughter, eyes filled with tears. She looked up at him and kissed his cheek.

“I love you, princess.”
