Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Operation Stag and Flower

Chapter 4: Operation Stag and Flower

“Padfoot, where are you going?” asked Remus. Sirius was already half way down the stairs lead to the common room. He turned.

“We want to get Prongs and Evans together, right?” asked Sirius

“Yes of course,”

“And no one knows Prongs better than us, right?

“Yeah, so where-“

“And the two people who know Evans best and can help us are…?

“Alice and Jo! Sirius you are brilliant!” exclaimed Remus

“God Moony, what took you so long? Of course I’m brilliant. I’ve always known that,” smiled Sirius before entering the common room.

They looked around for Alice and Jo but they weren’t there. Just as they were about to leave the common room to look for them, they heard someone thundering down the stairs leading from the girls dormitories. The boys looked around to see Alice and Jo running towards them.

“We need to talk to you two,” said Sirius and Jo at the same time.

“Jo baby. I didn’t think you were that desperate for me. Actually, I thought you were playing hard to get. Guess I was wrong. Oh well,” said Sirius moving towards Jo.

“In your dreams Black. You have no chance,” said Jo giving Sirius a cold look that could have challenged Lily’s.

“Ok, so you’re back to playing hard to get. I can deal with that,” said Sirius smiling flirtatiously at Jo who rolled her eyes.

“I think we should go somewhere no one is listening to us,” said Remus looking around the common room.

“Why? No one is listening to us,” said Alice.

“My dear lady, you have so much to learn about the Marauders,” said Sirius smiling charmingly at Alice. “People are always listening to us.”

Jo rolled her eyes again. “Give me a break. You Marauders think you are so great and everyone loves you, but you’re wrong. No one cares what you do,”

“Oh really? Excuse me little lady,” said Sirius turning to a second year who blushed furiously at being addressed directly by Sirius Black. “Do you know what I just said before Ms. Plunkett here made that horrible unfound accusation?”

“Ye-yes. You said My dear lady, you have so much to learn about the Marauders. Then you smiled at her,” said the girl giving Alice a cold stare. “Then you said People are always listening to us,”

“Thank you very much,” said Sirius leaning down and kissing the little girls hand. She nearly fainted but Sirius didn’t notice. He turned back to Jo.

“See? I told you everyone listens to what we say,” said Sirius smugly.

Jo opened her mouth to retort but Remus interrupted.

“As interesting as this argument would be, I think we have better things to do.”

Sirius and Remus looked at each other. Sirius nodded and started to head out of the common room dragging Alice with him.

Remus followed them out with Jo walking beside him.

“Where is he going?” asked Jo

“Room of Requirement,” answered Remus.

By the time Remus and Jo reached the Room, Sirius and Alice had already entered and were sitting on chairs situated beside a large blackboard. Remus and Jo entered and sat in the two remaining seats.

“Ok, we presume you’re here about the same thing right? James and Lily?” asked Remus looking at Jo and Alice.

“Yeah. Lily came in giving out about James again and we decided we needed to do something. Jo said you two could help,” said Alice.

“Of course we can! We are the Marauders. We can do anything!” said Sirius

“Oh really? If you can do anything, why did you come to us for help?” Jo asked Sirius smiling sweetly at Sirius

“Because we wanted to know why the hell your friend is so stubborn. We didn’t know what to do about her.”

“Well we need to know why your friend acts like a complete idiot around Lily. What is wrong with him?” asked Jo

“Ok, you two have just proved the point. We need each other to do this so could you two please stop going down the others throat when they say something?” asked Alice looking at Jo and Sirius

“So,” started Remus. “Are we agreed that- What is it Sirius?” Sirius was waving his hand in the air trying to get Remus’ attention.

“I think we should have a name for the plan. We always have a name for our plans Moony,” insisted Sirius

“Ok Padfoot, what did you have in mind?” asked Remus with a sigh. Being Sirius Black’s friend could be very exhausting.

“Well I was thinking-“ ha started

“Really? That must be a first. Did it hurt?” asked Jo Sirius giving him a charming smile.

“Ha-ha very funny Ms. Sarcastic. Anyway, as I was saying, I think we should call it Operation Get the two most stubborn people in the history of Hogwarts together to make the rest of our lives a hell of a lot easier and quieter.”

Everyone looked at him and burst out laughing.

“Sirius, are you really serious?” asked Alice

“Of course I am. You said it your self. I am Sirius!” said Sirius smiling at Alice.

Remus groaned. “Padfoot, that is the new rule of the Marauders. You are never to say that joke again”

“Black, we can’t use that as a name. I can’t even remember half of it!” said Jo

“I was Operation Get the two-“

“Just think of a new one while we get on with the rest of the plan,” said Remus before turning to the girls. “Ok, so we agree that Lily and James should be together?”

“Definately! It is obvious she likes him. She hardly ever stops talking about him, although it is never anything good,” laughed Alice

“You’re lucky. Prongs never shuts up about her. All he ever talks about is her. Did you see Evans hair today? Wasn’t it beautiful? Or her eyes? Aren’t they the most perfect shade of green? I swear I know more about Lily Evans than thought possible to know about a girl!” exclaimed Sirius

“Padfoot, the name please?”

“Ok Moony. I know your plan can’t function without one of my fantastic names so I’ll think of one for you,” said Sirius

“So, do you have any ideas about how to do this Remus?” Alice asked.

“Well, I know it’s going to take a long time. They are both really stubborn. I think the first thing we have to do is get them to become friends. I don’t see how we could get them to date if they can’t even have a civilised conversation with one another.”

“That’s true. How do we do that though? Lily insists she hates him and won’t talk to him,” said Jo

“Did she-“ Remus started but was interrupted by Sirius.

“I’ve got it! How about Operation Wake Evans up the fantastic features of Prongs and stop Prongs from acting like a git in front of her!”

“No Sirius. Think shorter and less complicated,” said Remus smiling at the look on Sirius’ face.

“Fine, fine, fine. You people are so picky,” sighed Sirius

Remus turned back to the girls. “Did Lily tell you what happened earlier?”

“Oh yeah, that. Well that wasn’t entirely James fault. He didn’t help, but it wasn’t his fault. He was just in the wrong place and definitely the wrong time,” said Alice

“Why? What happened?” asked Remus

“Lily broke up with Robert Patterson today. She was completely crushed. They’d been going out for-

“78 days today,” said Sirius. Jo looked at him. “James constantly reminds us every day how long that evil git has been going out with his Lily. He has a picture of Patterson, along with every other boyfriend Lily has ever had, on the back of his door and uses them as dartboards.”

Alice and Jo started to laugh. Sirius looked at them questioningly.

“It’s just, if James is throwing darts at his picture for dating Lily, he is going to murder him when he finds out what. And I’m going to help hem,” Jo explained

“What happened?” Remus asked

“She was walking towards the library and she saw him making out with Katie Chang in a corner. He told her he wanted to tell her earlier but he couldn’t find her. He is such a jerk!” said Jo. She looked like she wanted to kill.

“Well you are right, James is going to kill him. Let’s hope Lily won’t see,” said Remus

“So how do we get James and Lily to become friends?” Alice asked.

“We have to push them together as much as possible. In classes, around us, at meals, everywhere,” said Remus

“We’ll try and show Lily that James really is a good guy but we need to get him to act like it around Lily, not like a jerk like he usually does,” said Jo

“This is going to be really hard. Lily is really stubborn and won’t listen to anyone who mentions James and James likes Lily-“ said Alice

“Loves,” Sirius interrupted. “Prongs told us he loves Lily today.”

“Oh! That is so sweet!” Jo and Alice squealed

Sirius rolled his eyes and muttered “Women”

“So step one is to push them together as much as possible, get Lily to see the good things about James and get James to stop acting like an idiot around Lily? This is going to take a lot of work,” sighed Jo

“But it will be worth it right?” Alice asked

“Definitely,” said Remus

“Of course,” said Jo

“Stag and Flower,” Sirius said. Everyone looked at him in puzzlement.

“We’re going to call it Operation Stag and Flower,”

“You know what? I like it,” said Remus

“Me too,” Alice smiled

“Why Stag?” asked Jo. “Why is James Stag?”

Sirius and Remus looked at each other before Remus answered.

“Well James is like the leader, like a stag. It is just something we call him, the same way Lily if Flower.”

“Oh. Ok,” said Alice. But Jo didn’t look convinced. She knew they were hiding something.

“Well we better get back. You two should go first. It will look suspicious if we all go back together. Especially if James and Lily are there,” insisted Remus

“Ok, see you guys later,” Alice smiled and she and Jo left the room.

Remus looked at Sirius.

“That was a close one Moony. Do you think they’ll figure it out?” Sirius asked.

“I hope not Padfoot. I really hope not,” Remus sighed. He was afraid they would find out that he was a werewolf if they figured out James was an animagus. He was afraid they would run from him like everyone else did. Sirius seemed to know what he was thinking because he clapped him on the shoulder.

“It will be ok Moony. Even if they do find out they won’t care. They know it’s not your fault it’s just what you are,”

Remus smiled at him.

“Now I on the other hand, am a different matter. I have just as many problems as you. You’re just a werewolf, I am a girl magnet. I am too good looking for my own good. Jo seems to hold that against me. You could get away with it, but I’m afraid I am doomed,” sighed Sirius shaking his head.

Remus laughed. Sometimes it is good to have Sirius Black as a friend.

A/N: Hope you liked it! Sirius is very weird but I still love him! What about you? What did you think? Please review and tell me! Thanks again!
