Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Moony's Advice

Chapter 2: Moony’s Advice

James looked up to see Sirius rolling around his bed in laughter.

“What is so funny Padfoot?” asked James looking at the reaction of his friend.

“Well….Prongs…it’s just….hahahahaha!!” laughed Sirius. He was now nearly on the floor from laughing. He couldn’t compose a full sentence without laughing.

“Moony, what is wrong with him? It wasn’t that funny,” said James looking annoyed and hurt.

Remus looked over at Sirius and gave him a disapproving look. When Sirius saw this he tried to calm down. It took a lot of work but at least he stoped laughing long enough to tell James what was so funny.

“Well Prongs, in case you didn’t notice, Evans hexed you. And by the sounds of it, and the way you’re walking, she got you good mate,” Sirius said before bursting out laughing again.

Remus looked at Sirius and tried to tell him to shut up, but it didn’t seem to be working. Sirius got up and walked over to James and hit him across the head.

“What the hell is wrong with you Prongs? You let Evans hex you? Evans? Do you know what will happen if anyone finds out one of the famous Marauders got hexed by a girl? There will be mayhem. You have ruined us Prongs. I don’t think I can ever look at you the same way again,” said Sirius before falling back onto his bed with his hand up to his head in mock faint.

“Padfoot, ease off, ok?” said Remus but he was also having a hard time keeping a smile from his face.

“I didn’t mean for it to happen. I didn’t think she was going to hex me. I thought she was only going to give me another lecture but she seemed to get really pissed off fro some weird reason,” said James looking slightly flustered.

“Well, can you really blame her Prongs? You were a bit tactless,” said Remus.

“Tactless is too soft Moony. I would have gone with stupid, crazy, idiotic…” piped up Sirius from his bed.

“Not helping the situation here Padfoot,” said Remus before turning again to James.

“The thing is Prongs, girls, especially girls like Lily don’t like to be told how they feel and what they should do. You come on a bit strong for her I think and, well, it was one time too many.”

“But I still think she over reacted by hexing me,” said James looking up at Remus helplessly.

“Well, I’m not sure. She hasn’t been herself this week, so that could have something to do with it I suppose,” said Remus.

“Moony what am I going to do? I don’t know what it is about her but when I’m around her I….I don’t know….I loose myself. Am I really as bad as she says I am?” asked James.

“Sure you’re not! Ok, so you’re a bit big-headed, and yes you play a lot of pranks and she was right about hexing Snivellius and about how you treat girls but other than that you’re not that bad,” smiled Sirius from the other side of the room. This earned him a pillow in the face from Remus.

“Sirius, I’m warning you. You can stay and try and help or go downstairs to everyone else,” said Remus with a warning tone in his voice.

“He is beyond help Moony. Did you even hear his story. The poor chap is a lost cause,” said Sirius. This time though he was too fast and dodged the pillow sent his way.

“Haha Moony! You misse… Ow Prongs what was that for?” exclaimed Sirius. He was of course referring to the book that James had sent at him when Remus had missed.

“What? Moony missed, what did you expect me to do? Let it go?” said James with a smirk.

“Well I’m glad I’m finally getting my best friend back, but next time could you use something lighter than a book? I can’t risk my fantastically good looks!” pouted Sirius.

Both James and Remus started to laugh at this. When they calmed down James looked at Remus with a worrying look in his eyes.

“I’m serious Moony, I….” started James.

“No you’re not, I’m Sirius!” interrupted Sirius, smiling at the other two Marauders. Remus rolled his eyes at Sirius.

“Come on Padfoot, don’t you think that joke is getting a bit old?”

“Do you think it is,” asked Sirius

“YES,” both James and Remus shouted at him at the same time.

“Well then, I don’t!” he proclaimed happily, smiling widely at the pair of them.

“Will you ever grow up Padfoot?” asked Remus, looking at Sirius with a hint of amusement.

“MOONY! How dare you even suggest that! I shiver at the thought of it. I don’t want to grow up. I never will! I’m going to be like that guy in the muggle book you never grows up!” he exclaimed.

“You mean Peter Pan?” James asked.

Sirius and Remus looked at him.

“How did you know that? You come from a wizarding family. I find it hard to believe you read a muggle book,” said Moony.

“Well, I heard Lily and her friends talking about how they read it when they were young, and Lily said it was one of her favourite books so I decided to read it. It was a strange though. I mean flying without a broom, what’s that about?”

“You mean to tell me that the famous Prongs, master of magic, prince of pranks, lord of ladies, read a muggle book because Lily freaking Evans said she read it? You are hooked mate. You have gone to the dark side,” Sirius said looking at James as if he was a mad man. “Of dating of course. Not the real dark side,” he added seeing the looks on James and Remus’ face.

“Well, it does prove one thing. James is willing to grow up and change for Lily. Aren’t you Prongs?” Remus asked.

“Of course I am Moony. I don’t know what it is about her but she makes me act like a complete jerk around her,”

“Got that right,” commented Sirius

“But I’m not really like that. I love her so much it hurts. I will do anything if she would just give me a chance. And if that means not pulling anymore pranks or cursing Snape, then so be it. I am willing to change for her. But I don’t know what she wants. Ahh! Why does it have to be Evans? Why can’t it be any other girl in Hogwarts? Why does it have to be the one who always rejects me, who rips my heart out and stomps on it when she gives me one of her cold stares? Why do I have to fall in love with her?” James questioned, looking like he was close to tears.

Sirius looked like James had hit him again. He couldn’t take in what James had just said. He is willing to stop playing pranks and hexing people and basically stop being a Marauder, for a GIRL. And one who hated the sight of him for that matter? He looked at James to see him close to tears. Damn that Lily Evans! She is ruining my favourite Marauder! If it is the last thing I do I am going to get the two of them together. They are clearly meant to be (even to him and he’s as blind as James when it comes to things like that). But I can’t stand to see my friend in this pain over one stupid, selfish girl who won’t admit how she feels about him. DAMN HER!!

“What am I going to do guys? I need to do something or she’ll never go out with me.”

“Well, I hate to say this James, but you do need to change, especially around Lily. Don’t hex people in front of her, be polite to her, don’t be arrogant in front of her, be…” Remus said.

“Should he be taking notes? How is he going to remember all this?” asked Sirius

“Shut it Padfoot! Anyway as I was saying, Prongs, you need to treat her like a human being, not an object. Take more responsibility with your Head duties. She would appreciate that. You need to show her you can be mature, that you’re not just about playing pranks and hexing people. Show her the real Prongs we all love. But you need to give it time. Get her to be friends with you first. You need to take things slowly. Talk to her, not at her. You should also loose the last name thing, let her know you are serious about this. And whatever you do, do NOT ask her out until you are sure she will want to. Even if you have to wait for her to ask you herself,” advised Remus.

“Wait a minute. NO Marauder gets asked out by a girl. A Marauder always does the asking, because we are irresistible! Well, at least I am,” said Sirius, looking at Remus in shock fro suggesting such a thing.

James looked at his watch and jumped.

“Sorry guys, I have to go. I have to meet Lily for rounds. Better not be late if I want to impress her. Thank you guys for your help,” said James before rushing out the door.

“I think we are going to need some help with this Padfoot,” said Remus still looking at door James had just exited.

“And I know the two perfect people to help us,” said Sirius.

Hope you liked it! Please tell me what you think! I am new at this so I want to know if there is anything I should/could do to improve! Thanks!
