Chapter 7: Chapter Seven - A New Friend

A/N- Here you go. Sorry it took so long, I had to change some stuff...I think it's okay now.

Chapter Seven

Quick meeting with Dumbledore. He’ll meet us at is office.’ The parchment read in perfect curved letters.

“Gotta go. Got a meeting.” I mumbled jumping up, nearly knocking Pansy over.

I walked out of the Great Hall and saw Granger sitting on the Grand Staircase.

“Since when have you been a horrible actor?” She asked standing up.

“What?”I asked in complete confusion.

“No meeting, I just thought I’d save you from the Pug.” She said.

“Oh, that. I make it completely obvious that I think she’s revolting, and she still is oblivious.” I said running my hand through my hair. Granger started walking and without thinking, I followed.

“Where are we going anyway?” I asked after a minute.

“I don’t know.” She said shrugging. “I just figured that while we’re in a ‘meeting’ we shouldn’t be sitting on the grand staircase.”

After a minute she stopped walking and sat in a little nook where she wasn’t visible until you went inside. We sat across from each other.

“So what’s this about you not being innocent any more Granger?” I asked.

“Why?” She smirked. My smirk. I’ll get her for that later.

“I like the idea of you being innocent. But this new side of you has me intrigued.” I told her.

“Well don’t get any ideas. I’m not like your little flings, I’m still the same person. Just had some fun and let myself be free this summer.” She said smirking.

I raised an eyebrow. “Fine, fine. But you really have to stop using my smirk.”

“Yes your highness.” She said laughing.

“What’s so funny?” I asked.

“I know how to tick you off.” She said in a singsong voice.

I couldn’t help but chuckle. She was so cute. -Wait.- I just described Granger as cute?

“OH MERLIN!” Hermione said acting surprised. “Draco Malfoy knows how to laugh!” She exclaimed.

I couldn’t help but smile.

“Oh no! Hold on!” She said moving closer to me, poking my cheeks. “HE SMILES TOO!”

I laughed and pushed her hands away.

“Merlin Malfoy, I actually am beginning to believe you’re human.” She teased.

“Sssshh.” I said putting my finger to her lips. “Wouldn’t want to ruin my reputation!”

She giggled. Man was it intoxicating. I smiled.

“My lips are sealed.” She whispered. We sat in silence for a few beats. “I never leave the common room because of Pansy.” I confessed.

Hermione raised an eyebrow. “THE Draco Malfoy, Slytherin sex God, A gift to all ladies, hottest boy at Hogwarts -biggest prat- has been telling me off for years, can’t tell a whiny little girl to fuck off?” She asked.

“She’s too dumb to understand.” I said.

“But Drakie!” Hermione squealed, perfectly imitating Pansy. “You love me!” She added latching onto my arm, giggling.

I looked over at her, “Never do that again.” I told her.

“But Drakie.” She pouted.

I laughed.

She unhooked herself from my arm. “So when she’s hooked on you by the arm- Do you feel like you’d rather chew off your own arm then risk talking to her?” She tested.

“Yes.” I said.

Hermione sat up, putting the back of her hand to my forehead.

“Yes, I do believe you’re human.” She teased.

I sat there once again across from Draco.

“So- Are we friends now or what are we?” He asked.

I looked at him for a minute. “I guess this means we’re friends.” I said sighing dramatically. He smiled at me. He had a very cute smile, especially when his eyes weren’t cold.

“You do realize you’re not allowed to repeat anything that was said in this nook right?” He asked me.

“Why?” I questioned.

“I have a reputation to uphold.” He smirked. He got quiet for a moment then looked at me. “And if I have to be rude to you in passing I’m sorry.” He said. I raised an eyebrow. “I’ll do it as little as possible, but you have to understand how it is with my house.” He said.

I thought of Harry and Ron and nodded. “The same foes for me.” I told him. He nodded.

I sighed and stood but, beginning to pace. “I don’t know how I’m going to tell Harry, Ron or Ginny.” I said putting my face in my hands.

“Don’t worry.” He said pulling me into a tight hug. “It will all be okay.”

I sighed and got lost in his scent, burring my face in his neck.

“So that’s why you didn’t come talk to us. Bad news my arse.” I heard Ron say. My body went rigid and I was too scared to turn around.

“Not now Weasley. I’m not in the mood to deal with your rubbish and as you can tell, she’s already upset.” Draco said.

I refused to move.

I heard Ron grunt. “Well Hermione. That trip to America must’ve changed you. Seem like quite the slut now, hanging around Malfoy in dark corners.” He said. I felt tears sting my eyes. Before I could even muster a retort, Draco had let me go and punched Ron. Ron was in turn hitting Draco, both had gotten in good punches. Draco, though he got muscle over the summer, he was equally matched with Ron, who was now toned from quidditch.

“Stop it!” I yelled at both of them. Neither listened, I went and pushed Ron off of Draco.

“Don’t you ever call me a slut.” I said before slapping him. I turned on my heel and began walking toward the library for my free class first. I found my old favorite- “Hogwarts: A History” and curled up in a chair in the far back corner, secluded from everyone. I heard footsteps then felt someone sit next to me on the couch. I refused to look up, instead I reread the same line numerous times. I felt the person move closer to me then lightly brush my arm.

“Hey.” Ron whispered.

I stood up letting my book fall. “Ronald Weasley how dare you have the audacity to even consider talking to me after what you said!” I said glaring at him, Draco had got in many good hits by the looks of his face. I turned on my heel and left before he could say anything. I walked into the head’s common room, collapsing on the couch, not noticing Draco sitting there reading. I curled into a ball, pushing my face into the back of the couch. Suddenly I felt someone softly rub my back. I jumped and fell onto the floor on my back. I looked up to see Draco over me, smirking. He barely had any marks on him from Ron, far less than Ron had from him.

“What are you doing on the floor?” He asked coyly, pulling me up onto the couch next to him. I sneered at him without saying anything.

“C’mere.” He said getting up and looked at the clock. I said an eyebrow as he pulled me off the couch. “We can get a quick shag in before we go to classes, and it will put you in a better mood.” He joked.

“You prat.” I said punching his shoulder. After a moment I sighed heavily and fell onto the couch.

“He probably hates me no.” I thought aloud. I held back tears. “And he doesn’t even know why.”

Draco gave me a hug. We pulled apart and he wiped away my tears.

“Hey,” He whispered leaning his forehead against my forehead, his eyes burning into mine. “Everything will be okay,” he squeezed my hand. “Promise.”

He sat there staring into my eyes. I shivered. I nodded and swallowed hard.

“C’mon and pull yourself together. We have double potions in half an hour.” He told me.

I sighed and got up, washing my face in the bathroom. I fixed my hair and clothes then went down to leave for potions.
