HPFF Forum Guidelines

First things first, we've set some guidelines to help Harry Potter Fanfiction Forums run as smoothly as possible. Instead of thinking of these as rules, we're hoping you see them as guidelines to ensuring that everyone on our forums has a safe, pleasant, and exciting experience.

Please introduce yourselves in our introduction forum. We'd love to work on community building and getting to know one another. From there, feel free to answer our ice breaker questions and introduce yourselves in our House Common Rooms. Thank you.

Main Guidelines

- Don't troll.
Please make sure your posts have substance and are engaging to get people talking. Trolling isn't fun for anyone.

- Use positive and constructive criticism.
Our writers can use this forum to ask for feedback on ideas, stories, characters, etc. Stay respectful when giving feedback.

- Pay attention to threads with the word 'resources'.
These threads are here to help writers and readers grow their craft. That being said, resource threads are for links only. We'll have plenty of threads that allow us to discuss certain topics such as writing tools and character studies, to name a few.

- No member is allowed to engage in public personal attacks on any other member.
Personal attacks are defined as Personal, Racial, Ethnic, and/or Gender-based insults, slurs, or derisive comments. This will result in an automatic suspension from HPFF Forums. Please respect one another, even if our opinions differ. You can learn a lot from people who aren't likeminded.

- Any issues or complaints must be communicated privately using either PM, "Report this Post" feature and/or EMail.
The offending post will be evaluated, communication will take place between administrators and the poster, and a warning or suspension will be given determined by the post's content. If any member breaks the rules after discussions with administrators, and 2 warnings, they will be banned for a week, and upon a repeat incident, banned permanently.

- Pornographic and sexually explicit content will be shared on a restricted area of HPFF Forums.
We want this forum to be a safe and exciting place for fans of the Harry Potter realm, and fanfiction as a whole, to come together. This means some readers will be open to pornographic/sexually explicit content and some will not. A restricted area of the forum will exist to share adult fanfiction content.

-Post in the right forum.
Make sure your posts end up in the correct forum or sub-forum. If content doesn't end up in the correct place, it'll be deleted and placed in the correct area.

- Respect others.
From language to kindness, we want all of our readers and writers to use respect with one another. This is especially true with privacy. Please do not post ANY phone numbers, addresses, pictures, etc., without their permission.

- Each HPFF Forum member may have only one account.

- Do not place foul language in thread subjects.
Again, we want our community to be able to view forums everywhere. Please keep foul language out of thread subjects.

This is last but certainly not least, do not spam in the forums.

Secondary Guidelines

- Use descriptive subject lines and research your post.
This reduces the chances of double-posting, and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Also, scan the subjects of the last several days' posts to make sure you aren't duplicating posts. Also, consider what forum your topic should be posted in.

- Restrict the use of excessive foul language.
Excessive swearing will not be tolerated. We want to keep this a forum that readers/writers of all ages can visit. Please share your opinions, and try to do so without excessive foul language.

The administrators and moderators will read all content and use good judgment in moderation. We don't want to create a community with a 'rules heavy' experience, but we all know how to be respectful and act like adults. Please use your own good judgment in posting and creating an environment not only that you like to visit, and would recommend to others.

We will always give warnings (with the exception of unacceptable posts-sometimes we need to work fast), but we don't necessarily give them more than twice to the same person. If you are disrupting the community, we will take action.
