Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger

Dramione, or the ship between Draco and Hermione, is one of those ships where a 'gray' area is really non-existent. You love the pairing, or you hate it, and for us...it's love.

In the books and films, Draco and Hermione were about as opposite as you could get, but the old saying goes that opposites attract. Now, that doesn't mean that we're a fan of relationships that hurt or relationships that are dangerous - and we can see where the bond between them could be quite negative, but there's a side to Draco that is so well suited by Hermione's heart.

Hermione is kind and understanding, while feisty and strong in her conviction, she is caring and gives of herself to those in need. While Draco isn't a character that comes off as needy, he is a character who hasn't felt a worthwhile love by those who raised him. His heart, though he'd not admit it himself, needed more.

These are the stories we like seeing in the Dramione fanfiction realm. Ones where Draco comes to terms with who he is outside of what is expected of him, and when he realizes that Hermione could be the good he needs.

So, let's talk Dramione!

I am a fan of this pairing as I think it demands dynamic character building. Without doing so, you will end up with a weak and unbelievable storyline. If you highlight and drive certain situations and personality traits, their relationship is fairly palpable. It makes for a fun challenge.

I'm a big fan of Dramione in the sense that you are, I love when writers can really build their characters and give them dynamic layers. I think if their relationship had time to build within Rowling's realm, we'd have seen them end up as friends on some level. While they've got a lot of differences, they're common at the core of who they are - just not exactly how they show that to everyone else. Their 'ship' stories are some of my favorite within the HP realm, honestly.

Absolutely! Rowling says they're more tolerant of each other when they're older. Their personality types can mesh but it's not an easy "ship" to write. It definitely entails some work and a strong background/motivation.
