Chapter 4 : Who is it?

The person shifted slightly and looked down at me. His brilliant eyes glimmered as he stared into mine.
"I love you, Mia."
"I love you too," I whispered. He slowly leaned in, touching his soft lips to my own. It was light and gentle working its way up to rough. We were engrossed in the kiss, wrapped around each other. We rolled off the couch, landing on the floor.
"Oof!" I puffed after landing on the floor of my dormitory. I was cocooned in my blankets and struggling to move. I finally freed myself from my fabric prison and stood up rather quickly. I got a terrible head rush and fell over. Ugh...
I finally was able to stand without seeing spots. I examined the dorm and noticed Rose and Riley sitting on Rose's bed watching me. They were both having a fit of laughter.
"Wow, thanks guys. Glad my struggles amuse you."
They didn't acknowledge me and continued laughing. I scowled and made my way to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth rapidly and attacked my hair with my brush. When I was finally done with my morning essentials I walked back out towards my bed. My supposed friends were finally collected.
"How did you even manage to fall out of bed?" Riley asked.
"I dunno. I had a really intense dream."
"About what?" Rose pipped in.
"Erm...I was being chased by this bludger. It hit me and I started falling to the earth." Okay so I lied. But I didn't feel like telling them I had a dream where I was kissing some random person. Well, they weren't random in a way. I knew who it was...but I didn't at the same time. That makes no sense, I know. But I know the person yet I couldn't identify who it was.
It wasn't Will. We were in the Gryffindor common room. He's from Ravenclaw, they aren't allowed into our house. I mean that isn't the only reason it wasn't him. The feeling was wrong. It was a different experience with this guy then with the time I have spent with Will. This person felt right, like a perfect fit. And Will, he just didn't make me feel like that.
Bollocks, I'm truly loosing my mind. I'm comparing Will, a guy who I like a lot, to some figment of my imagination. Will is tangible, an actual person. And this guy that I supposedly loved wasn't real.
But yet he was.
No, I'm done with this nonsense. I'm going back to reality.
Today was the Hogsmeade visit. It was starting to get cooler so I dressed appropriately. I threw on a pair of jeans and a soft pink jumper. I laced up my black converse and headed down to the common room. Rose and Riley, having gotten up early than me, were already down there. Rose, being the total nerd that she is, was reading her charms book. Riley was talking to Grace, another sixth year girl in our dormitory.
"That's what you're wearing on your date?" Riley said disgustedly. Ouch.
"Erm..Yes? What's wrong with it?"
"Nothing..It's just..well seriously, it's a date. You're not dressed up in the slightest."
"Well, it's cold outside. And I've worn this kind of thing loads of times when I hang out with Will," I protested.
"Yes, but that wasn't a date. It was hanging out," she reminded me.
"I think she looks fine," Grace said.
"Thank you, Grace! I'm starved. Let's go to breakfast. Oi! Rose, let's go," I yelled to the half deaf Rose. When she reads she becomes obsessed with her book. She tunes out the whole world and focuses intently. She looked up from her book.
"What? Sorry, I was reading."
"Food." She closed her book and we all trotted down to the Great Hall.
The room was filled with people buzzing about the Hogsmeade trip. I swear, I have never seen so many people at breakfast before. But they all wanted to get a head start on the day and get the whole time for the visit.
"Morning, ladies. How are we this fine day?" Fred said taking a seat next to me. Albus and Scorpius took spots next to us too.
"Good. So who are you guys spending the day with today?" Riley asked. Scorp shrugged.
"I dunno, I didn't ask anybody...Rose are you going with anyone?" Scorpius said. He had pink peeking onto his cheeks.
"No, no. Riley, Grace, and I were going to go to the new clothing store."
"You're not going with them, Mia?" Al asked curiously.
"No, she has a date," Riley replied for me. He nodded.
"Erm..Yeah. Are you going with anyone?" I asked lamely.
"Well, you lot are more than welcome to join us," Grace said. Fred laughed.
"What, do you want us to hold your handbags?" Fred said.
"Alright, don't be a manly man," Riley teased. Fred gave Riley a smirk.
"Love, I'm the manliest man in the history of man."
"I will! Mates, we are going to that store and holding these fine women's purses!"
Albus and Scorpius groaned.
"Fred, you do realize that Riley here just scammed you into holding their purses for them, right?" Scorpius said. Fred sat there thinking about it for a bit. A minute passed and he slammed his hand onto the table making a very loud pound.
"Damn you, Riley Smith!"
Riley gave a triumphant cheer and went back to her toast. They are the cutest thing ever. Well, besides Rose and Scorpius.
"Haley, are you going to Hogsmeade today?" Albus called across the table to where Haley Larson sat with her pack of slags, including the Brit girl.
"Yeah, of course," she replied in her high pitched voice.
"Wanna go with me?"
"Sure, Albus." She shot me a glare then smiled sweetly at Al. That bitch. I hate her. I have hated her since second year when she lit my hair on fire in potions. The worst part is, I got docked points for disrupting the class. Why the hell would he ask her?
After breakfast, I met Will in the Entrance Hall. I told the gang that I would meet up with them later in the Three Broomsticks then said my goodbye. Will grabbed my hand and we walked down to the village.
"Where would you like to go first?" Will asked.
"How about Honeydukes?" I suggested. I had a real hankering for some sweets.
"Sounds great." We entered the sweet shop and grabbed a bag. We filled it with Chocolate Frogs, Licorice Wands, Bertie Botts, and Acid Pops. Will paid and we left the shop with a pound of candy. We then went to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, said hello to George Weasley, then went to the Shrieking Shack. The Shrieking Shack is not that scary. Rose told me that it wasn't really haunted. Her parents said that an old professor they had used it when he was in school to get away when he transformed into a werewolf. That took the scare right out of it.
"Aren't you scared?" Will questioned me. He looked bewildered at how calm I was.
"No, not really. Wanna move closer?" I teased. His face said it all. I laughed. "Only joking, Will."
"Wanna go to the Three Broomsticks and warm up?" he asked while rubbing his hands together. I nodded and grabbed his hand. We started walking back into town.
"Mia, we spend all this time together and I feel like I barely know you. Tell me about yourself."
"Well, what do you wanna know?"
"Tell me about your family, you never talk about them."
"I was adopted when I was about five months old. I don't have any siblings. My parents are muggles and are teachers at the local high school."
"Were your birth parents wizards?"
"Dunno about my dad, but my mum was a muggle. Doesn't really matter though, does it?"
"No of course not. I was just curious."
Of course this is the shortened story of my family. I was born to a woman named Michelle Kovach. My father never knew of the pregnancy and was therefore never around. When I was only five months old, someone killed her. The worst is, I don't know why. It was so random. They broke into the house and stabbed her in the night. Luckily I was at my grandmothers. After she died, my grandmother gained custody. She thought I was an abomination since I was born out of wedlock. She put me up for adoption the next day.
Lovely story right? That's why I go with the simple and sweet version where it seems like I'm wanted. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents but one can't help but feel lousy after hear that story.
We finally made it into the Three Broomsticks and scanned the room for my friends. Riley waved at us and I pulled Will along. He pulled back.
"I'll get the drinks." I smiled in agreement and strolled over to where they sat.
"So where's Al and Haley" I asked taking a seat next to Rose. She pointed to the corner. There Al and Haley were snogging the life out of each other. I wrinkled my nose and looked back to Rose who was doing the same thing. Mmm...Gross.
Will came over handing me a butter beer and taking the spot next to me. It was a bit of a tight fit with all of us. It didn't help that the whole pub was completely full. Will put his hand on my knee and I pushed it off. He did it again. I did the same thing and pushed it off. I looked at him and shook my head. He kissed my cheek and smiled. He put his hand back on my knee. Ugh fine! you win.
"Soooo, how was shopping?"
"Good, I got a new sweater and some leg warmers. Rose got some really cute earrings and Grace got a pair of jeans. Successful if I do say so myself." Riley said sweetly, taking a sip of her drink.
"Yeah, successful. We spent ages in there," Scorpius scoffed.
"Well, don't blame us. Fred volunteered you," Riley said.
"We didn't even get to go to my dad's shop!" Fred pipped in. Riley patted him on the shoulder to sarcastically comfort him.
"Next time. Besides, we better start heading up to the castle. I still have homework to do," Riley said, standing up. We all followed her out of the pub.
As we were walking in the village, a man in a black cloak and a scarf that covered most of his face bumped into me. His eyes were blood red. It seemed like they pierced my soul as he looked at me. It sent shivers down my spine. There was a mysterious vibe radiating off him.
He glared at me a little too long for someone that had crashed into me. He looked at me with pure hatred.
"Watch it," he said fiercely. His voice dripped with acid. I mumbled an apology, though it was not entirely my fault.
There was something about this guy that made my insides churn. He just seemed like bad news.
But, at the same time, there was a type of connection between us. It is confusing, almost impossible to explain. It felt like I have met him before.
He walked away, still eyeing me curiously. I grabbed Will's arm and dragged him along the path, distancing ourselves from this bizarre man. I picked up the pace until he was no longer visible. I put that man out of my thought bubble completely. There was no reason to dread on him too. I was already fretting over my dream guy.
When we got to the castle, Will and I lingered at the staircase while everyone went to the common rooms.
"I had a nice time," I said, breaking the silence that hung around us.
"Me too. I've been dying to do this for awhile now." He started leaning in. He kissed me lightly. At first it was gentle and kind. But then he started to really snog me. It was amazing. My mind went almost blank..except I thought back to my dream. That was a great kiss. It was the kind that shoots electricity through your body. Will was good, but my mystery guy was better.
I stopped abruptly. He gave me a confused look.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I just gotta go. I'll see you later."
I stormed up the stairs to my common room. I'm so confused. I just ended a great kiss with a great guy because I am hung up on some guy that doesn't exist. I loved this guy in my dream. He was perfect. Will...just doesn't compete.
No. He does. I just got to remind myself that he doesn't exist. Will is my boyfriend. We are good together. No more doubts.
I found Riley and Rose sitting at a table doing their homework.
"Hey guys, where's Grace?"
"Oh, she went to send her mom a letter. How was your date?" Rose asked.
"I thought you didn't like Will?"
"We do. Honest. He was just bugging us that night is all. Now spill."
"It was nice. He kissed me," I said with a smile. I will convince myself it was better. I'll sell the story to them and hopefully believe it myself after awhile.
"Ahh that's sweet. Disgusting...but sweet," Riley said looking too happy for me. Mkay. He will grow on them. Hopefully.
"Hey there, Mia. How was your date?" Albus said, just recently stepping through the portrait hole.
"Not bad. How about yours?" He shrugged.
"It was alright. Haley's a pretty good kisser. We will probably go out again."
"How can you stand her? She's a total slag!" I said a bit annoyed. I know Albus is a bit of a man hoe but come on, he has to have some standards. Haley is just vile.
"She's hot. Besides, why do you care? You had your date and I had mine. Bertrang is scum, I've told you that before."
"That's different, I actually like Will. You just think Haley is hot," I retorted.
"Maybe. We will see." He walked away, heading up to his dormitory. What the hell was that supposed to mean? We will see? What will we see?
Does he know about my dream? No, how could he. I didn't say anything about it to anyone. Unless he can read minds. No, he's smart but I'm pretty sure he hasn't learned how to do that.
I am utterly loosing my mind here.
It's decided. I'm going to continue seeing Will and forget entirely of that guy.
With classes and Quidditch, I barely got to see Will besides homework time. James had practices four times a week and the homework load was ridiculous. Will and I did our transfiguration together but I did the rest with Rose because we weren't entirely in the same classes.
I have had past boyfriends. They didn't last long. It's kind of hard to count them either. They were the kind of relationships where you asked your friend to see if the other person liked you and then if they did, you would "date." Dating was more like just holding hands in the halls then deciding a week later that you didn't like them.
This was a real relationship. He liked me, something I was not used to. He made me feel desirable for once. I liked him too. Though I was unsure of how much exactly.
