The rest of the weekend passed quickly. We spent all day Sunday relaxing at home. The boys had a wonderful time playing with the other children in the neighborhood. Jenny and I spent as much time together as possible. Between Remus and I Justice was hardly put down. We spent every spare moment studying him so that we wouldn’t forget a single thing about him. Sunday night was incredibly painful for us. I hated leaving my son behind, but I knew it was the right thing to do.
No sooner than we had landed in our living room then I broke down crying. “Remus I can’t believe I left my son with her. Have I done the right thing? Are we sure he’s going to be safe there? What if the war finds its way to the States? What if something happens to Jenny?”
“Hush Isabella. It’s going to be ok. I know Jenny loves him if for no other then reason than she loves you. It was plainly clear that she absolutely adores you and would do anything she can to protect your son. You did the right thing following your gut. I know that you’re just trying to keep him safe. We all understand.” Remus said holding me close.
“Remus,” Lily whispered walking into the room, “She needs to see this.”
“Lily what is it?” Remus asked not letting go of me.
“It’s a letter from Sirius. Isa I’m so sorry he’s not coming back. Dumbledore has given him an assignment. He says that he loves you, but that he can’t stay here. That he can’t stay in a house that is so full of memories.” She said as I collapsed into hysterics unable to hold it back any longer. Lily came rushing to my side, “It will be ok Isabella. It’s all going to be ok I promise you. One way or another it’s all going to be ok.”
“James, Lily will you help me get her into bed? Peter will you stay with Molly and Arthur and help them with the children?”
“Of course Moony. Come on children. Let’s go with your parents down to the guest house. It’s going to be ok, Izzy.” Peter said squeezing my shoulder as he passed.
“Come on Isabella. You can lean on me. That’s the way. Come on lets go up to bed.” Remus said wrapping his arm around my waist taking my weight. “It will be ok angel. James will you take her other side?”
“Come on Isa. We’ve got you. Let’s go upstairs.” James said as warmly as he could.
Lily rushed ahead and turned down the bed in my old room. “Put her here. I’ve got her. Remus go get her bag. James give us a few minutes will you.”
“Sure thing Lily. I’ll be in the hall if you need me.” James replied.
“Here you go Lils.” Remus said coming back into the room. “Do you need me or?”
“Go wait in the hall with James. I’ve got her. Come on sweetheart let’s put on your sweats. That’s the way. Good job. Ok sweetie lie down,” Lily said soothingly. “Ok Remus come on back in.”
I was vaguely aware of Remus climbing into bed with me and pulling me close. “Don’t leave me alone please. Please don’t leave me.” I cried desperately.
“It’s ok angel. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve got you.” Remus said rocking me. “Lily I’m staying with her tonight. You’re welcome to stay as well, but I’m not leaving her alone.”
“James?” Lily asked him not having to say any more than that.
“Stay with her. I’m going to stay on the couch in here. I don’t want to leave her alone anymore then you guys do. I’m going to let Molly, Arthur, and Peter know what’s going on. I’ll see if by any chance they can stay in the guest house for the next couple of days. We’re going to need all the help we can get.”
That was the last thing I heard before passing out. Over the next few days I would wake up every so often. Every time I woke up one of the group would be with me. Lily and Molly would try to get me to eat and drink something whenever I would wake up. After a few days I woke up for the first time fully aware of what was going on around me. It was midday; Remus was sound asleep next to me. As quietly as I could I got out of bed and went into the restroom. I did what I needed to do and then just as quietly made my way downstairs. I walked into the kitchen to find Lily and Molly sitting together over cups of tea. “I’m starving. Please tell me there’s bacon to be had and maybe some tea.”
“Isa,” Lily cried running forward to hug me. “I’ve been so worried. You’ve been out for days.”
“Molly what day is it?” I asked feeling her envelope me and Lily in a hug.
“It’s Thursday sweetie. You’ve been out of it for three and a half days. If you hadn’t snapped out of it soon we were going to take you to St. Mungo’s.” Molly said clearly fighting back tears.
“I’m so sorry you guys. I’m so sorry.” Giving into the tears, “I just couldn’t pull myself out of it. There were times when I would wake up and one of you would be sitting with me talking to me, begging me to wake up and I would try. I would desperately fight my way to the surface, but then the grief would hit again and it would be too much. I love you all so incredibly much. Please Molly I’m starving.”
“Of course sweetie. Sit down. Lily get her tea started. What would you like to eat?”
“Bacon sandwich sounds great.”
“Coming right up.” Molly said with a smile.
“Here’s your tea Isa.”
“Thanks Lil.” I said taking her hand. “I’m so sorry that I scared you. I love you so much.”
“I love you too sweetie. More than I can tell you.” Lily said grabbing my hand, “Where’s Remus?”
“He was asleep when I woke up. I had a feeling he hadn’t been sleeping much lately.”
“Here you go Isa. Eat up.” Molly said sliding a plate in front of me.
“Molly where are the boys? I don’t hear them which tells me you’ve probably sent them away so they wouldn’t disturb me.”
“James, Peter, and Arthur took them down to the burrow. Percy is incredibly worried about you. He asks me about you every morning and every evening. He’ll be so happy to see that you’re up.” Molly said sitting down next to me. “Once you’ve eaten we’ll let the guys know that you’re up and that they can come home.”
“Tell me everything that’s been going on while I’ve been out. Please. I’m sure I’ve missed quite a…”
“Molly, Lily have you seen…”Remus yelled running into the kitchen. “Oh thank God.” Remus said seeing me sitting at the table. “I’ve been so worried. We’ve all been so worried. Are you ok angel?”
“I’m fine I promise. Molly will you get Remus some hot chocolate and some peanut butter toast? He looks like he needs it. Come sit down Remus.”
“I’m so glad that you’re ok. How long have you been up? Why didn’t you wake me?”
“I got up about twenty minutes ago. I didn’t want to wake you because you looked so peaceful sleeping. You looked like you really needed it.”
“I don’t care how tired I was Isabella. You should have woken me. I’ve hardly left your side since Sunday.”
“I’m so sorry Remus. I’m so terribly sorry.” I said going to him, “Can you forgive me for everything? For falling apart.”
“There’s nothing to forgive Isa. Molly go down to the Burrow get the boys. I know James has been worried and Percy will be ecstatic to see Isabella awake. Lily can you put the water on to boil? I think we’re going to need more tea.” Remus said never taking his eyes off me.
“I’ll start the water to heat up, but then I’m going to help Molly with the kids. Give you two a few minutes alone.”
“Thanks Lil.” I said looking up at her. “What would we do without you?”
“Easy you would be horribly lost.” Lily replied with a smile.
The girls put the water on for tea and hot chocolate and then headed down to the burrow. While they were gone Remus and I didn’t speak much. We went about the business of getting out tea and hot chocolate mix and all the ingredients the children enjoyed. No sooner had I put the last platter of cookies on the table then the fire place turned green and the kettle whistled.
“I’ll get the water. You go see the children. I know they’ll be overjoyed to see you.” Remus said kissing my cheek.
I walked into the living room to see James step out of the fire holding Percy in his arms. James took one look at me and said smiling, “Percy look who’s up.”
“Aunt Isa,” Percy yelled scrambling down from James’ arms. “Aunt Isa you’re awake. I’ve missed you. Are you feeling better?”
“Hi Percy, my favorite nephew. I’m feeling much better. I’ve missed you too baby. You’re brothers should be right behind you and they’ll want to hug me too. I’m going to put you down while I hug them, but you can sit in my lap while we have cookies and hot chocolate. Uncle Remus should be in the kitchen. Will you go help him finish setting the table?”
“Ok Aunt Isa.” Percy said kissing my cheek, “Do you want peanut butter or vanilla?”
“Surprise me,” I replied kissing the top of his head as I sat him down.
No sooner then I sent Percy into the kitchen did the fire turn green again and out came Charlie holding on to Peter. “Is that my knight in shining armor I see?” I asked smiling at Charlie.
“Princess Isabella!” Charlie cried flinging himself into my arms. “I’ve missed you so much. Mum said you’ve been sick.”
“I’ve missed you too Charlie. You’re mum was exactly right, but I’m feeling much better know. Uncle Remus is in the kitchen with Percy starting hot chocolate. Why don’t you go help them? I’ll be in, in a minute.”
“Ok Princess Isabella.” Charlie said taking a deep bow making me giggle.
“Izzy, I’m so glad you’re ok.” Peter said pulling me into a hug.
“Oh Pete. I’ve missed you, all of you. I’m so sorry for what I’ve put you all through.”
“It’s ok Izzy. All that matters is that you’re better now. Arthur should be along with Bill any second. Molly was spacing out our arrivals so that you could have a few minutes with each of the kids. I’ll go help Remus in the kitchen.”
“James.” I said with tears in my eyes.
“I know Isa. You don’t have to say anything, I know. Everyone has been staying here. Once we put the children to bed tonight we can talk.” James whispered after pulling me to him. “He’s ok. I just heard from him yesterday and he sounded like he was doing fine.”
“Thank you.” I said with a smile. “Now go on. Here come Arthur and Bill and I don’t want to be crying when they get here.”
“Alright,” James said laughing.
“Aunt Isa!” Bill cried running to me. “I’ve missed you. Are you ok now?”
“I’m just fine buddy. I’m doing a lot better now. Have you been behaving yourself?”
“Yes Aunt Isa. I’ve been helping Aunt Lily teach Charlie how to read and yesterday Mum let me and Charlie put the twins down for their nap all by ourselves.” Bill said sounding so proud of himself.
“That’s great Bill. You’ve been such a help to your parents while all the adults have been taking care of me. I’m so proud of you.” I said kissing him, “You’re uncles are in the kitchen with your brothers I heard rumor of hot chocolate and cookies.”
“Isabella,” Arthur choked out once Bill had left the room.
“I’m ok Arthur. I promise I’m ok now.” I said hugging my friend.
Arthur looked at me with love in his eyes and whispered, “Don’t you ever scare us like that again little sister.”
“I won’t big brother I promise.” I replied laughing a true laugh for the first time since I had left Justice with Jenny. “Let’s go join the others in the kitchen. I saw Molly and Lily come in with the twins while I was talking to Bill.”
I walked into the kitchen to find my family talking and laughing. It was enough to bring tears to my eyes. Remus looked up and saw me standing in the doorway. He came over and wrapped his arms around me and whispered in my year, “They all love you. While you were sleeping there wasn’t much laughter not like this. This family isn’t the same without you.”
I just smiled at him at took his hand leading him over to the table. No sooner than I had sat down then Percy climbed up into my lap. “Aunt Isa I made you some vanilla hot chocolate with rainbow marshmallows just like you like.”
“Thanks buddy.” I said resting my cheek on the top of his head. “I heard a rumor that Bill and Charlie have been helping out with the twins. Is this true Molly?”
“It is. They’ve been a huge help.” Molly replied with a smile.
“Well in that case I think a reward is in order. Now Percy correct me if I’m wrong, but when we were in the states I promised that if you did as asked and rode in the car seat I would take you to Honeydukes?”
“Yes Aunt Isabella.” Percy replied snuggling in closer to me.
“Well then I was thinking I would take you boys to Honeydukes. Each of you can pick out some sweets. Percy you get an extra treat for being so good while we were in New York. What do you say boys?”
“YAY!” Came the excited yell from each of the boys.
“Why don’t each of you pick an uncle or parent to help you get cleaned up and then we’ll go? Percy will you pick someone other than Uncle Remus? I need to talk to him.”
“Ok Aunt Isa.” Percy said smiling up at me as he grabbed Lily’s hand.
“Isabella please don’t let them get to many sweets.” Molly implored as Charlie pulled her from the room.
“Remus will you come with me and the kids?” I asked.
“Of course Isa. I’ll be happy to. I’ll grab all of our jackets and meet you in the living room. We can apparate from there.” Remus said with a smile.
“Sounds great. Do you guys want anything while we’re there?” I asked the few adults left in the room.
“Some chocolate frogs for Lily and me would be greatly appreciated.” James replied with a smile.
“I’d love a few licorice wands.” Peter said smiling.
“You don’t have to get us anything Isa.” Arthur responded.
“I want to get you guys something. You all took such good care of me when I was out of it. I want to get you all something.”
“Well then I guess a box of Bertie Bots Every Flavored beans for me and a chocolate rose if they have them for Molly. If not then a chocolate frog or two.”
“Alright I’ve got it. Remus, the kids, and I will be back in time for dinner. I love you guys.” I said as I walked out of the kitchen to find all the kids gathered in the living room. "Alright guys before we go lets go over some rules. First of all, Percy I want you to stay with me or your Uncle Remus at all times. Bill as the oldest you can wander the store on your own, but do not leave the store. Charlie you can wander some, but I want you to stay in sight of us, ok?"
"Ok Aunt Isa." The boys chimed.
"Also you each can pick out two treats. Two chocolate frogs count as one treat. Percy you get two extra treats for being so good while we were in New York. Other than that just behave yourselves. Alright Percy come here. Bill and Charlie you'll go with Remus." I said as I picked up Percy.
The boys had a great time at Honeydukes. It was the first time Percy had been and he loved it. After we finished out shopping at Honeydukes we walked around we went into Zonkos and then headed down to the Shrieking Shack. "Isa we should probably head home. It's getting late and we promised we would be home in time for dinner." Remus said while we watched the children play.
"I guess you're right. Bill, Charlie, Percy it's time to go," I called. "Come on guys we need to head home it's dinner time."
Sorry for the delay folks I've been having some computer issues. I've also caught up to what I have already written so it's going to be a little bit slower going from now on. I hope you all have been enjoying the story so far. I would love to hear what more of you have to say. Also thanks again to Chazzie for you're input. It helps make the story even better. I hope to hear from more of you. Do you like it, hate it, hate what I've done to certian characters?
