Hermione was in such a state of shock she didn’t know what to do. What is he doing here? She hadn’t seen him since the day the war ended. Towards the end of the war everyone in the Order was told that Malfoy had actually been a spy for the Order the entire time and in fact he was the whole reason Harry knew so much about Voldemort’s whereabouts and movements.
The day the war ended she had seen Malfoy standing over his father’s lifeless body. Malfoy had killed him himself. He sensed someone was looking at him and his gaze met Hermione’s. The look in his eyes was triumphant, yet sad at the same time.
That was the last she saw of him.
Draco, sensing her stare and looked her direction. There eyes met again, and he held her gaze. He looked her up and down and almost had a look of annoyance on his face, then he turned back to Jim -Hermione’s boss- and continued their conversation.
Hermione stopped in front of them, trying to get by them so she could enter the conference room when Jim stopped her,
“Ah Hermione, best to not be late, hurry up now.” Jim stepped back from Draco so Hermione could walk between them. Draco put his hand on the small of her back and let her pass in front of him. That contact sent shivers down her spine, and not in a bad way.
I haven’t seen Malfoy in five years and this is how he affects me?
Hermione took her place at the long table. After everyone was seated Jim stepped in and started to speak, Draco sat in a chair and turned his head to look at Hermione.
He was looking at her oddly and Hermione couldn’t help but hold the contact. Hermione wondered what he was thinking and decided to use her occlumens to see if she could sense what he was feeling.
Do you really think I’m going to let you into my mind?
Hermione jolted in her seat, she couldn’t believe he was blocking her out. She had forgotten he was just as skilled as her.
Jim interrupted their staring contest,
“May I introduce the new owner of the magazine, Draco Malfoy.”
Hermione’s jaw dropped as Draco stood and addressed everyone in the conference room.
“It’s nice to meet all of you, and I’m sure we will get to know each other a lot better. Hopefully we will be able to make this a great year for the magazine.” Everyone claps as Draco sits. Jim looks at Todd, one of the writers,
“I want to do a front page photo spread and story for next month’s issue on our new owner. I think it will really help our audience see who he is and what he’s about.”
Hermione rolls her eyes at Jack’s statement. Usually when they do a story on a man, the questions in the interview are all about their sex life or the women they date.
Jim then interrupts her thoughts by saying her name,
“Hermione, next week I want you to do a photo shoot with Draco, I want it to be edgy, sexy, and very alluring.” Hermione felt a knot in her stomach.
Oh god. Why did it have to be me?
“Of course Jim, I will set something up in my schedule.” Jim nods and dismisses everyone.
She hurries out of the conference room and heads straight for her office. Once there she leans against her desk and takes a deep breath.
I can’t believe I have to put up with that insufferable git.
There’s a knock at her door, she opens her mouth to say something and in walks Draco. He closes the door and turns to face her.
“It’s nice to see you Miss Granger.” He says slyly.
Hermione crosses her arms and retorts, “Oh so now we’re being formal? You’ve been calling me Granger for as long as I can remember, Mudblood would even suffice.”
Heat springs into his eyes and he steps forward, “I don’t use words like that anymore Granger, I find them to be…” He pauses for a moment and for the second time that day looks her up and down. She felt exposed, like she was being put on display.
“….beneath me.” he finishes with a smirk.
The look he is giving her makes her knees go weak.
Why is he affecting me this way?
Why does he have to look at me as if he’s undressing me. And why do I find that extremely sexy? Something is wrong with me.
Realizing her lips are dry, she runs her tongue along them. Draco’s eyes go dark. With what she’s not sure, anger? Suspicion? Lust?
“If you will excuse me Mr.Malfoy, I have work to do.” Hermione turns, walks around to her desk, sits in her chair and begins looking over proofs of the photos she had developed from last weeks shoot. Malfoy walks around her desk and eases a hip down on the corner.
“I would be ever so pleased Miss Granger if you would send me an email when you decide you’d like to do the photo shoot. I’m at your disposal.” He gazes at her with fire in his eyes, and now she realizes that he is intentionally trying to insinuate something.
“O-of course Mr. Malfoy, I will let you know as soon as possible, now if you will excuse me. I really do have work to do, as I’m sure so do you.” Hermione didn’t look up. But he surprised her by reaching his hand up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. His finger made small contact with her skin and she felt it.
Electricity, and she knew he felt it too because he recoiled from the touch and stood instantly. He looked well….frazzled. But he recovered quickly and his resolve was back.
“I will be awaiting your response Miss Granger, it was a pleasure seeing you again. I think I’m going to like it here.” He sauntered out of her office and shut the door behind him. Hermione laid her head on her desk.
And there’s the second chapter, I know my chapters are short but don’t worry, as the story develops they will get longer. I have some REALLY great/steamy/sexy things in store for these two so keep reading! And I loved all the feedback I got from the first chapter, and I’m so happy that you guys are enjoying it! Keep reviewing!
