“I can’t believe Tyler is almost one.” I said. “He’s such a big boy.”
“I think he looks just like his Mummy.” My best friend, Candice, said, helping Tyler balance himself. “How do you think he’ll react when you leave for school?”
I looked out the window. I wasn’t sure how Tyler would react to me leaving. The longest I’ve ever been away was for a day. How would he react to six months?
“I hope he’ll be okay. It’s going to break my heart to leave him but I need to complete my education for him.” I answered.
“This is a good choice you’re making Nikkole.” Candice said. “It may break your heart and hurt Tyler a bit but in the end it will benefit you both.”
“I know.”
I took Tyler from Candice and held him in my lap. He snuggled up to me, looking at me with his beautiful hazel eyes. My heart was going to break when I leave for Hogwarts tomorrow.
“You know Candice, every time I put Tyler to bed at night, I can’t but think ‘Am I a good Mum?’” I said. “I think ‘This boy, this sweet little angel deserves so much more than me. What did I ever do to receive such a wonderful gift?’”
“Nikkole, you’re a great mum to Tyler.” Candice argued. “No one else could fill the spot of being his mum but you! Tyler, do you hear this? Mummy thinks she’s not good enough for you.”
“Mum.” Tyler giggled, reaching up for my face.
His little hand cupped my cheek, light and gentle. He left it there for a few seconds before playing with my hair.
“I dread going to school.” I said. “No one but very few teachers, Headmistress and deputy Headmaster, know that I’m a mum. I’ll have to go and act like I’m a normal seventeen year old when I’m very well not.”
“It won’t be that hard if you don’t think about it. Go to school, have fun, be yourself, and don’t worry about Tyler. Your parents will take great care of him.” Candice smiled.
Candice was right. If I didn’t worry about Tyler, I would be fine. But I’m a mum, worrying is our second nature. I can’t do anything but worry when I’m away from Tyler, even if it’s only for a few minutes.
“I know. I trust my parents with my life but I can’t help but worry about Tyler. I mean, every thing could possibly go wrong.” I said.
“Tyler, can you believe this? You need to tell Mummy that you are a big boy and she doesn’t need to worry.”
“Mum.” Tyler laughed, squirming around in my arms.
“Tyler baby, Mummy is going to miss you so much. What am I going to do without you?” I asked, kissing his forehead. “Kisses for Mummy?”
I pointed to my cheek and Tyler gave me a little kiss and squeezed me in a giant hug.
“I love you baby.”
Author’s Note- Nope, I haven’t abandon this story yet. Just had to give it time to develop and work itself out. I did change the plot a lot but I think you’ll still love it. Typical drama that we all love and grab a bag of popcorn to watch. So I hope you all will leave me a nice little review with what you thought and don’t be afraid to tell me if I did anything wrong J I can’t wait to show you all rewritten chapter one.
