Author’s Notes: Enjoy this chapter! Oh,and my apologies for the long wait. Real life has been quite the struggle as of late.
“Merlin’s mother,Weaselbee!” Draco snapped,buttoning his pants.
The blood was hot in my cheeks as I straightened my clothes. Draco put a protective arm around me, and I leaned into him. My mind raced for something to possibly to say to my ex boyfriend…and best friend. Whether or not we were still friends or not,after my marriage to Draco.
“Hey,” Ron said quietly,his hands were in his pockets, and he was looking down.
“Ron,it’s been years,” I smiled,delighted to see him. Even if he was angry with me,he was my best friend for 15 years now. 15 years was a long time, and there was no way I was giving up on him.
I walked over to him, and cautiously hugged him.
He hugged me back,but I knew without looking he was shooting glares at Draco.
“I’m going to bed,Hermione.”
“I’ll be up there in a moment,” I whispered as I pulled away from Ron.
I was so thankful that Draco was understanding of my situation.
I watched my husband make his way up to the cabin,and hear him slam the door. I know he hates how much Ron means to me,but he deals with it. Because he’s the best man I have ever known,and ever will know.
“I’ve missed you,” I smiled at him.
He gave me a weak smile,and I could tell by the way he stood he was about to bring up a bad topic.
“I miss you Hermione,” he said.
I remained silent,and my heart picked up in my chest. I knew this was eventually going to happen one day. Although, I could never have prepared myself for the pain that blossomed in my chest.
“Ron,please don’t.”
He shook his head,and his eyes pleaded with me to let him continue. The only sound was the gentle waves of the lake,and our soft breathing. The moonlight fell on him,making his blue eyes shine like stars,and his hair a deep red.
He sighed,and took a tiny step toward me.
“Ginny told me you had twins.”
I nodded,mentally pleading with him to just walk away. Seeing him in pain made my chest ache. It was a growing pain.
“They should have been mine,” he whispered.
I shook my head,sghing as well.
“Ronald,please don’t start this.”
“Let me just talk,Hermione.” He paused,gathering his thoughts,and continued. “Merlin, this hurts to say out loud. I miss you so much.Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you. It kills me to see you with him. I felt as though I was dying at your wedding. You were so happy,and you smiled more then I’ve seen in your years. And he was there. But it was the wrong groom. It should have been me,Hermione. It’s always been me. Those are suppose to be our kids…not the Death Eater’s! You hated him up iuntil 6th year…then something happened. Hermione,I want you back. I can be so much more for you then he can.”
I was gasping at this point,and my hand was on my chest. He eyed my rings,but I continued to fight for my breath. I refused to cry,but I was ultimately failing.
He took another step towards me,grabbing my hand. I yanked it away from him,and took a few steps backwards. The dock was swaying slightly under me,so I was careful not to trip. He took another step towards me,and I shook my head.
“Give me some space,Ronald.” I warned.
He continued to walk towards me,his arms open. I also continued to take steps away from him.
“Just think of how it could be, ‘Mione,” he whispered.
I took another step back, and suddenly I was wobbling on the edge of the dock.
I screamed as I fell backwards into the icy water. Even in July,the water was cold at night. I struggled to get to surface,and water flooded my lungs. When I broke surface I could see Draco with his wand pointed at Ron.
“Draco,”I called out in warning. Ron had his wand drawn also,and I climbed onto the dock.
Draco walked away,taking off his jacket and wrapping it around me.I leaned into him, he was so warm.
“Let’s go get you in the shower,love” Draco saidand put a hand on the small of my back,leading me past Ron.
“I’ll deal with you later,Weaslebee!” Draco snapped at him.
“Gladly,Malfoy,”Ron spat, “And get your hands off of her like that!”
I spun on my heel to face Ron,as the anger coursed through my veins like lava.
“He is my
husband Ronald Weasley! How he decides to touch me is of no importance to you! You’re not apart of my life
anymore. Don’t act like my father! If I meant so much to you,you would have put more effort into our relationship! I wouldn’t have been alone every bloody night crying. I wouldn’t be alone all the time! I couldn’t waste my life cleaning
our flat,and cooking all the bloody time and never seeing you! If you can even call it a relationship! Do not act like you care now! Leave me to my life,Ronald! I’m happy now!” I screamed. My chest was heaving from my rant,and Draco was gently tugging my hand comfortingly.
I grabbed Draco’s hand,turning my back to Ron,and continued to walk to the cabin.
“You never cried in front of me!How was I to know,Hermione?” he called out,but I didn’t bother to respond as a warm tear slipped down my cheek.
“Ronald,if you go to their wedding,you can’t cause any trouble,” Ginny warned,straightening my tie.
“I know,I know” I reassured her,as we walked through the chapel doors.
I sat in the front row with Harry,Ginny,Mrs.Granger,Luna,Neville,and mum and dad.
Mrs.Granger patted my knee twice,and her eyes were full of tears. She had a knowing look in her eyes,but I shook it off.
We all stood as the woman I loved walked down the aisle. A tear slipped down my cheek, as I realized she didn’t miss me.
Mr.Weasley handed her to Draco Malfoy, and I felt the need to end his life.
To stop him from marrying Hermione. But could I possibly ruin Hermione’s happiness? To deny her the happily ever after she deserved?
No!
That happily ever after was meant to be with me.
I couldn’t sit still an longer,and I stood up. Hermione turned to see the disruption and I shook my head slightly. She was crying also,but I knew it was because of joy.
Not heartbreak,and with that,I ran out of the church,trying to run away from the unbearable heartache.
“Draco! You’re acting so ridiculous!” I snapped.
“He wants you back,and I don’t want you around him. I don’t want Sapphire or Adeline or around him either. He pushed you into a lake!” he barked, shoving clothes into the suitcases.
“I fell into the lake,” I corrected. “He’s not dangerous,so you’re overreacting.”
He scowled deeply, and I shook my head at him.
“Draco Lucius Malfoy!” I spat.
His head snapped up and his eyes hardened. I couldn’t believe that after evertything I had to deal with from Ronald,I was having to deal with my husband as well.
“What do you want me to say Hermione? That I’m completely comfortable being here with a man that says he loves you,and wants you to leave me for him?” he yelled.
I forced myself to deep breaths as the rage spread through me. He’s only ever yelled at me once, and his apology was flying out of his mouth half a second later.
A scream rang out,and I yanked upon the door.
“Now look at what you’ve done!” I barked,and slammed it behind me.
I hurried down the hall,and opened the door to the twins room. Adeline was screaming,but when I picked her up gently,she silenced.
“Awwwh darling,what’s the matter?” I cooed. My anger disappeared instantly as Sapphire nestled into my neck and shoulder.
I walked around with her slowly, humming simple lullabies.
“Hermione,I’m sorry” I heard Draco say from the doorway.
“Get out,” I said, not bothering to drag my eyes away from my daughter.
“ ‘Mione,” he started but I shut him up again.
“I don’t want to hear you Draco,” I snapped, and Adeline started to cry. I shifted Sapphire into one arm to reach for Adeline,but Draco already had her.
“Give me my baby.”
“No!” he replied,holding Adeline away from me.
I had my wand out instantaneously.
“I’m not even kidding Draco,give me my daughter,” I screamed.
I heard Harry and Ginny stirring downstairs. Adeline started to cry,and then Sapphire joined in.
“That’s
our daughter,Hermione Jean!” he growled.
“Give her to me!” I said in the most reasonable tone I could manage. I didn’t want to yell anymore,it was upsetting my babies.
“I will leave right now if you don’t give me my Adeline!” I screamed again.
Adeline and Sapphire screamed louder,but I needed to have both of my girls.
I lunged forward,holding onto Sapphire as tightly as I could. Obviously I caught him off guard,because I successfully took Adeline from him. I scowled at him, and shoved past him into the hall.
“You’re being ridiculous,” he sneered from behind me. I continued to walk into my room,and truned to face him in the doorway.
“Oh,really?
I’m being ridiculous? “ I asked,slowly placing my hand on the door.
“Yes,who would ever believe it? Hermione Malfoy? Being ridiculous?
Never” he replied,the sarcasm practically dripping from his voice.
And with that I slammed the door in his face.
“Who’s ridiculous now? You’re out in the dog house tonight,Draco!” I yelled.
“What the bloody hell is a dog house?” I heard him whisper to himself. I locked the doors,and put up wards so no one could get in.
“Go away,” I barked. I heard him sigh again,and sit against the door.
