"We'll be there in a minute, Draco," Narcissa scoffed. Draco's spontaneous impatience annoyed her. This was actually the first year he was excited to return to Hogwarts.
She decided to not be hard on him, "I'm sorry, I know what new beginnings mean to you."
Draco could only nod. He didn't necessarily believe her... ever. She was full of doubts. The connection was lost between them when Draco had become a Death Eater.
He sighed. At least it wasn't his father that was angrily barking at him... like usual. They then turned the corner to face Platform 9 and 10's barrier.
When nobody was watching (which always seemed like all the time), they sprinted into the barrier and came out the end to see the Hogwarts Express steaming.
"See you," Narcissa waved, departing while yelling, "remember to owl!"
Draco scoffed and rolled his eyes. Like she wanted him to.
He was aware that he would only have Blaise, Pansy, Daphne, and Astoria this year. (Millicent was disgusting.) Goyle would not be returning due to his father being in Azkaban (as Draco's was too) and his depression from Crabbe's death.
Crabbe -- how could Draco only toss his name around as if he didn't care? He had mourned all summer over his death. But he could only accept the fact that everything happens for a reason.
He held back the tears and embraced Blaise with a hug. He smirked at Pansy (who wasn't over him and the latest rejection a month ago), and greeted Daphne and Astoria.
The group entered the train.
"Oh shit!" Astoria shouted, ignoring the gasps. She looked at Draco.
"The Prefect meeting!" she reminded him, eyes widened. They took off immediately, leaving Blaise with the other two girls.
They entered a compartment with the Gryffindors, Granger and Weasley, (why couldn't it be the other houses?) and sat down to wait for the teacher.
Granger bitched at Weasley constantly.
"How can you put up with her!?" Draco broke Hermione's rants off, and they both gave him glares.
"As of now, I don't know," he admitted, pursing his lips.
Astoria oooed and Hermione's jaw dropped to the floor.
"Sorry, Ronald and Malfoy, but I didn't realize you were so rude!" she exclaimed, with her face getting scarlet (from embarrassment or anger, he didn't know).
"I thought you could expect it from me, Granger," Draco sneered.
"Oh, I apologize for not remembering, but I thought us saving your life could have changed it!" she shouted, with fire in her eyes.
Draco breathed heavily. This argument pissed him off.
"PMS much?" Ron mumbled.
Hermione glared at him and asked with clenched teeth, "What. Did. You. Say!?"
"Maybe Draco has a point, you've been in a pissy mood today. And you've been screaming into my ear all day!" he shouted, standing up.
Draco bit his lip. He just caused something... bad.
"Sit down children," McGonagall called, coming in through the doorway.
Hermione gave Ron the silent treatment as the meeting dismissed. She stormed to Potter and Loony Lovegood.
Weasley waited for Draco to leave the meeting.
"If I go with her, we'll make a scene... could I sit with you guys today?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
Draco looked at Astoria. She grinned.
"It's cool with us," Astoria nodded, smiling.
"Cool," Ron said, returning the smile, and he followed them to the compartment.
As they walked into the compartment, Pansy's head shot up and she glared at Ron with a petrified look on her face.
"What is he doing here?" she sneered/asked, scowling. Parkinson looked at Draco.
"He's gonna sit with us. And if it's not cool with you, you can leave," Draco answered, dramatically, pointing at the door.
Pansy instantly shut up then. She was jealous that the others were becoming friends with the bloodtraitor.
Hermione fumed in anger in her seat.
"Hermione wha-?" Luna began to ask.
"Nothing!" she screamed, cutting her off, "Ronald has decided to sit with Malfoy today."
Harry tried not to laugh, as Ginny hit him when he snickered. Ron probably did something against Hermione's golden rules.
He was a bit shocked when Hermione said Ron was sitting with Draco Malfoy for the day. He could've at least sat with Dean and Seamus.
Neville was incredibly lost. But he decided to write a letter to Gram about his experience so far.
Luna sulked in her seat. When would this drama end?
The Slytherins were surprisingly cool with Ron sitting with them.
Astoria and Daphne did make-up together as Draco, Ron and Blaise made fun of them.
"Do you have to look perfect for the opening feast?" Ron sneered.
Draco and Blaise chuckled.
Pansy was ignored in the corner as she sat there, envying Ron's attention. She had to do something to get him away.
Just as she started to conjure up a plan, there came Lavender Brown through the door.
"Sorry for intruding," she apologized to the Slytherins and looked around to see Ron, "but, Ron, could we... erm... talk?"
Ron scanned the compartment to find Draco's confused face looking back and forth between Ron and Lavender.
"Uh... sure, Lavender, it'll be a second," he assured the others, leaving the room.
Pansy silently rejoiced as Draco scoffed.
"What was that about?" he asked, making a face.
Astoria rolled her eyes as she did her lipstick, "It's obvious they are getting back together."
Draco felt a bit smug. Ron was actually better than he thought, especially from being a part of the golden trio.
Draco silently prayed for Ron to be a second.
Lavender took Ron's wrist and dragged him into the deserted compartment nearest.
"Ron... what happened yesterday... it was an accident. I hope I didn't cause any... you know... friction... between you and Hermione," she admitted, with a worried expression on her face.
"I see," Ron said, nodding, "because I didn't tell Hermione. But we had friction, just over something stupid... like always. She is always snapping at me lately. The war made us like this. I'm sure if we had a break she would realize. But whatever, I guess a break is for the be-."
Lavender cut him off with a kiss. She quickly pulled back.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed.
"No... it's OK, you see," he said, leaning in for another kiss. Lavender returned it.
Hermione walked through the train's corridor, looking for Draco and his friends.
When she finally reached their group, she asked, "Has anyone seen Ronald."
Pansy began to pipe up, "He went...."
Draco cut her off, "To the bathroom! He should be back in a second... why? Do you need him or something?"
"A little bit," she admitted, sheepishly, "but would it be alright if I sat?"
Draco's eyes widened, "Oh... uh... sure... guys?"
Pansy grimaced. Astoria nodded, and tried to smile. Blaise gave a thumbs-up. Daphne shrugged.
"Well, I guess it's OK. Pansy, again, if you have a problem, leave," he added.
Pansy glared at Draco, but didn't move.
Hermione sat where Ron was and waited for him. Everyone seemed nice, besides Pansy. Draco was different from the previous years though... more accepting. He was so... hot that way.
Whoa! Did she just think Draco was hot? What had happened to her?
Hermione guessed (in her head) that she was looking for a rebound since her and Ron were having a fallout.
She shook the thoughts away and started to converse with the others.
Ron pulled away from Lavender's kisses.
"I'm sorry, this is wrong. I think I should tell her first and then we'll do this," he said, giving her a kiss, "later."
Lavender nodded, as Ron exited, quietly. She sat there for the longest time, and then returned to Parvati and the others.
"What are you doing here?" Ron asked as he entered the compartment that he was previously in.
"Waiting for you," Hermione admitted, coolly.
Ron gave Draco a look. He only shrugged.
"We told her where you were. The bathroom, remember?" he reminded, although it was a lie.
Pansy butt in, "I thought he was with Lavender Brown."
"What?!" Hermione shouted, outraged, "What were you doing?"
"It's obvious that they were getting back together. Remember Astoria?" Pansy reminded, looking the girl's way.
Ron remained silent. What was he to do but face the facts?
Hermione fumed in her seat again. Deja vu.
"You cheated on me?" she asked, tearing up. It was really a question. She stood up and left the compartment.
"'Mione, I'm sorry!" he shouted after her.
"That's it Ronald Weasley! We're through!" she screamed, storming away to Harry.
Ron sat down with the Slytherins again.
"Harsh, dude," Blaise said, breaking the awkward silence.
For the remainder of the ride, the compartment remained silent.
Hermione told everyone in the compartment everything. Everything.
Ginny and Luna comforted her. Harry sighed and sat there. Ron was and idiot sometimes. Neville had no idea what was going on.
Hermione did have one promise throughout the ride though.
She would get Ron Weasley back. She decided that what goes around, comes around. She decided that she should cheat on him....
Author's Note: This chapter was wayyy longer than my others as you might notice. And a hell of a lot more dramatic. Hopefully you like it. Please leave a review! thanks!
