Hogwarts Five Year Reunion
Chapter 4: The Reason
Draco was happy about his night on the town. He had managed to find a perfect outfit for Saturday. He bought a pair of khaki pants slacks along with a green-striped button up shirt. Not only did he represent his Slytherin house, but he looked sophisticated, which he thought may impress Hermione. He had also found what he thought was the perfect gift for Hermione. It was a simple, yet elegant, gold bracelet encrested with many tiny rubies. He hoped she would be supporting her house too, so that it would match her outfit.
It was getting a little late, so Draco thought to himself, ‘A bite to eat, then a walk in the park before I go.’
“So Herm, are you going to tell us the big news yet?” asked a very excited Luna.
All five of the friends were now sitting down by the fire in the living.
“Yeah,” said Ron, now stroking Luna’s hair gently, “We are all dying to know!”
Hermione couldn’t help but notice the couples around her. Ron and Luna looked perfect sitting there playing with each other’s hair, while Ginny looked even cuter cuddled up to her fiancé Harry on the loveseat. She knew she should be ecstatic that her friends were so happy, but she merely wished she could be in love, like all of them.
“Herm, are you there?” asked Harry, looking a little concerned.
“Oh... Yeah, sorry.” Hermione said a little embarassed.
Stopping the awkwardness, Ginny asked, “So Herm, what is going on?”
Returning to her excited mood, Hermione told them the news, “Ok, I just wanted to tell everyone that it has now been five years since Ron, Harry, and I graduated, and I get to plan our five year reunion!”
“What!” yelled Harry and Ron at the same time.
“That is so exciting, when is it going to be?” asked Luna.
“Well, I am not sure. We have our first meeting Saturday to discuss it.”
“Who gets to plan it?” asked Harry, now looking a little upset that he wasn’t invited.
“Don’t worry Harry, you were not singled out, only Professor McGonagall, Head Girl, and Head Boy get to plan it.”
The room stood silent as everyone stared at Hermione. Luna ended the silence when she asked, “ Wait, who was head –,”
But was cut off by Ron, who looked very unpleased, “Malfoy!”
“Who would let a killer like him help plan our five year reunion?” yelled Harry.
“Now Honey,” said Ginny very calmly, “You know he was under the imperius when he was supposed to kill dumbledore.”
“So he says,” screamed Harry, “But I was there, I saw him, and it was Malfoy through and through!”
“Me and Harry have made the Malfoy case one of our top priorities at the Auror office,” said Ron, sounding almost as angry as Harry, “and everything in his file proves to me that he is lying. Everything he said was him talking, I just know it!”
“Ok, ok boys. I am going to go clean off the table, Ginny, Herm, will you please come help?”
When the girls got into the Dining Room, they all began to talk about what had just happened.
“I am sorry I started all this ruckus you guys, “said Hermione with tears in her eyes, “I was just so excited about the reunion.”
Luna ran over to Hermione and wrapped her arms around her, “Now don’t go crying over those boys in there, they will never trust Draco!”
“I believe Draco,” said Ginny, “For some odd reason, I believe him.”
Luna agreed, “Me too Gin, during that year at school when he was so lonely, I wanted to go talk to him, but I was trying to impress Ro, so I didn’t. I just felt so sorry for him.”
Ginny and Luna got into a discussion about Draco Malfoy, and why they believed him. They had been talking about it for almost ten minutes when Hermione blurted out:
“He called Me!”
“What?” said Ginny looking very confused.
“Draco, He called me! He said he wanted to talk.” Hermione was surprised at what she was venting out, but she couldn’t hold it in anymore.
“You should have heard him. He sounded nervous, to talk to me, Hermione Granger. I think he really has changed.”
Luna, looking overly concerned, asked, “Herm, are you going to be ok? You look... different all of a sudden.”
“Yeah, I will be fine. I’m sorry you guys, but I need to go. Bye Luna, tell the boys I said by. See you tomorrow at work Gin.”
And before Luna or Ginny could ask her where she was going, Hermione was gone. She had decided a nice walk in the park could help clear her mind.
