Hello, my readers!!! Are you glad I updated? LOL!!! I'm sorry for taking such a long time in updating this chapter. I was pretty busy (sis's birthday). Well, I really hope you like this chappie. It may be short, but I hope you like it.
Chapter 6: Party on the Deck
Hermione growled in frustration as she rummaged through her small wardrobe for clothes. She had no idea what to wear and she did not want to go with jeans and a t-shirt.
The sun was shining through the small circular window. It was getting late and Hermione was growing desperate. Sarah had gone back out on the deck with Jason and Mike. Hermione had to find something to wear for the party.
"I can't believe I can't find a simple skirt to wear! Where did all my clothes go?" cried Hermione. She flopped on her bunk bed and closed her eyes.
The door opened and Hermione looked up. "Hey, Sarah," she said before closing her eyes again. "I've changed my mind. I'm not going to the party tonight," she said miserably.
Sarah stared at her in shcok. "W-What do you mean, Mione?" she asked. "Why aren't you go...you don't have anything to wear, huh." It wasn't a question.
Hermione ignored her and kept her eyes closed. Her mind drifted off to a certain blond and she groaned. "Besides, even if I did know what to wear, I wouldn't go. Malfoy's going to be there, remember?" she said.
Sarah sighed. "Oh, Hermione. You are so lucky, girl. I still can't believe he kissed you in front of everyone. I wish I was in your place right now," she said dreamily.
Hermione stared at her friend with disgust. "You're stupid, Sarah. You don't know Malfoy the way I do," she said crossly. She stood up and went over to her wardrobe again. "Are you going?"
Sarah nodded. "Of course and you're going, too. I'll help you pick clothes out for tonight." Sarah walked over to the wardrobe and began to take out a loadful of outfits.
"This one is perfect," said Sarah as she came across a knee length jeans skirt with a yellow thin-strapped blouse and a jeans jacket. "you'll look so pretty in it." Sarah looked in her shoe rack and took out a pair of sandals. "You can't go to the party without foot wear, right?" she said as she tossed the sandals at Hermione.
Hermione smiled and slowly began to change.
"Draco, I still can't believe you kissed her...in front of Potter!" said Blaise, still shocked about what had happened earlier. "If that was Potter's reaction, just imagine Pansy's."
They were in Draco's room, deciding on what to wear for the party that was happening out on the deck. Draco clicked his tongue impatiently and chucked a pair of jeans across the room.
"Screw Pansy's reaction. Potter can just go to hell because he's not her boyfriend," he muttered angrily. "I'm not scared of Potter. I never was. He didn't even do anything when he saw me kiss her. All I saw was he stupid ugly face."
Blaise walked over to Draco and raised an eyebrow. "Are you mad, Draco? You just kissed Granger in front of her friends and you don't even care? What's gotten into you, man?" he asked incredulously. "This is Hermione Granger we're talking about, Draco. Hermione Granger, the muggle-born. The one you hate with all your soul."
Draco looked at Blaise angrily. "I know who we're talking about, Blaise. I don't need you to remind me every damn second. Now shut up and get dressed." Draco walked across the room to retreive his jeans. "Did Pansy tell you she was going?" he asked a little calmly.
Blaise shrugged as he pulled on his jeans. "I don't konw. She's your fiance, not mine." Draco rolled his eyes. "You know how Pansy is, Draco. I bet you she already knew about the party," said Blaise as he buttoned his shirt.
Daco buttoned his jeans and walked over to the wardrobe to pick a shirt. His lip curled in disgust when he realized he only brought two colors: Black and White. He picked a black shirt and pulled it on. "have you noticed that Granger's friend is always gaping at us?" he asked, smirking a bit.
Blaise chuckled. "I think she's pretty hot. Weasley has an eye on her, though. I can tell because of the way he looked at her at the party last night," he said as he combed his hair. Draco watched him with a smirk.
"Ha! And you blame me for having a crush on a muggle-born. Look at you, having a crush on a muggle," said Draco as he ran a hand through his hair. Blaise said nothing but continued to comb his hair.
Draco's smirk grew wider as he reached the door. "I'm going to look for Pansy," he said before walking out.
"Harry, do you think there's something going on between Malfoy and Hermione?" asked Ro as they sat lazily on the large sofas. "He did see her first and danced with her last night...and he kissed her," he added a little disgustedly.
Harry flinched as he thought about what had happened earlier. He still couldn't believe that his school rival had kissed his best friend. "Change of subject, please. That scene is still fresh in my mind and it's getting me nausiasce," he said.
They heard a snort and they turned around. Ginny was standing in the doorway, smirking at them. "You two are being stupid. He just gave her a kiss. It wasn't a beast she kissed, alright, it was Draco," she said loudly.
Ron eyed his sister with curiousity. "Why are you defending Malfoy?" he asked as he craned his neck o look at her in the eye. "Don't tell me you like him, too!" he said incredulously.
Ginny clicked her tongue impatiently and slapped Ron across the head. "Don't be stupid, Ron. This is Malfoy we're talking about," she said as she took a seat next to Harry, who was quiet the whole time. "All I'm saying is that there's nothing wrong with a guy kissing Hermione. It's not a crime," she said softly.
"Being kissed by Malfoy is a crime," said Ron darkly. "That bastard just spread his venom all over her lips. Disgusting," he muttered. Harry just nodded in agreement.
Ginny rolled her eyes. "Ron, you're just jealous because you used to fancy Hermione," she said, crossing here arms. Ron glared at her. "Don't look at me with those eyes, Ronald, you know it's true."
Harry sighed and stood up. "We should get ready if we want to go to the party tonight," he said as walked over to the wardrobe.
"There's a lot of bloody parties on this ship," said Ron lazily. "I don't think I have clothes for them anymore."
Ginny and Harry rolled their eyes.
Hermione stared out at the setting sun. The fiery color was so entrancing, and the calm waters were so perfect for the beautiful scene.
"This is so perfect," she whispered as she inhaled the salty air. Hermoine closed her eyes and smiled to herself. "This is just too perfect," she whispered.
"It sure is beautiful tonight," said a voice from behind. Hermione smiled as she realized who that voice belonged to. It was soft, yet had a deepness into it.
Mike went over to the rail and leaned against it. "So, you finally changed your mind about coming?" he asked, smiling widely. "I'm guessing Sarah threatened you to come."
Hermione just grinned. "No, she didnt' threaten me. I wanted to come. Oh and it's not because Malfoy's going to be here," she added when Mike opened his mouth to speak.
"Right," said Mike, sounding relieved, "I was about to say that since Draco had kissed you in front of everyone, I thought you were...you know..." he trailed off and looked at Hermone.
Hermione furrowed her eyebrows and shook her head. "I'm not going out with him. That kis meant nothing." She paused and stared at Mike. "Draco and I go to school together. We've haated each other since our first year. I don't know what he's playing at right now, but he's starting to..." She trailed off.
Her eyes had snapped towards the doors leading inside. They opened and Draco stepped out... but he was not alone. He was accompanied by Pansy, as well as Blaise.
"Besides, he has a girlfriend, so why would he wasnt to go out with me?" she said. Mike shrugged and turned away from Draco. Hermione continued to stare. She realized that she felt a little twinge of jealousy as she saw Pansy holding hands with Draco.
Hermione looked away and concentrated on Mike instead. "So, what do you plan on doing once we get to New York?" she asked softly. Mike let out a big sigh before looked at Hermione.
"I don't know. I guess it's up to Jason this time. We take turns every time we travel. Why do you ask? Do you want to hang with us?" he asked, smirking a bit.
Hermione blushed and looked away. "I don't know," she said looking up at Draco. To her surprise, he was staring at her. Hermione looked away quickly. "I'll have to talk to Sarah about it," she said.
MIke smiled and moved closer to her. "Save a dance for me, okay?" he whispered in her ear before walking away, but making sure his lip brushed against her cheek.
Hermione sighed deeply. She had to admit, Mike was cute. He was sweet and he was nothing compared to Draco. Although Draco was also...cute?
Hermione shook her head. "No. You don't think Malfoy's cute. You can't. He-He's going to get married a-and he's a pureblood," she muttered to herself. "Just forget about him. Forget about the kiss. Forget every-" she was cut off in midsentence. Someone was blowing air in her ear. She turned around and came face to face with the Slytherin trio.
Her eyes turned to slits. "What do you three want?" she said coldly. "As far as I know, I haven't done anything to any of you." Hermione looked at Pansy and raised an eyebrow.
"Just to make things clear between us, you're not allowed to to anywhere near Draco or Blaise," said Pansy coolly. "You've already caused enough damage when you danced with my fiance last night." Pansy's eyes seemed to flash threatingly at Hermione when she said this.
Hermione looked away from Pansy. "I'm not the only one who has to be warned," she said looking at Draco. "I'll stay away from you lot if you stay away from me." With one last look at those steel-blue eyes, she pushed past them.
**An hour later**
Hermione managed to find Harry, Ron, and Ginny on the front of the ship. Sarah had gone with Mike and Jason to get drinks.
"Finally! You three are very hard to find," said Hermione breathlessly as she stopped in front of her three friends. "Great party, huh?"
It was a really stupid question to ask. The DJ was not there yet and everyone was either sitting down or leaning against the rail. This was by far the worst party ever.
"You're funny, Mione," said Ginny sarcastically. Hermione shrugged and sat down next to Ron. "Did you see what Pansy was wearing? Honestly, if she was going to come like that might as well wear nothing," said Ginny incredulously.
Hermione ignored her and looked over the cowd. Her lips formed a smile when she saw Sarah dancing with Jason. "How can they be dancing when there's no music?" she asked.
Just then, the DJ had turned up the volume and everyone on the deck began to dance. To Hermione's surprise, Ron stood up and dragged her to the dancefloor just as "Run It" by Chris Brown came on.
"No offense, Ron, but since when did you learn how to dance?" asked Hermione, smiling widely. Ron gave her a small turn before answering her.
"Since I saw you dancing with Krum in third year," he said quietly. Ron blushed and stopped dancing. "I-I have to go," he muttered before walking away.
"Ron, wai-" she trailed off and watched with a curious look as Ron went deeper into the crowd. "What's he on about/" she muttered to herself. Hermione sighed and turned to Harry and Ginny. "I'm going to get a drink. Sarah probably forgot about us."
Harry and Ginny gave her a nod and continued to dance. Hermione smiled and headed to a small table next to the DJ. Thre was a change of song and "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain came on.
Hermione's heart skipped a beat. That song. She had danced it with Draco. She closed her eyes as she remembered that unforgettable night. His hands. She had liked the way they held her. His eyes were so entrancing. His lips were so...
"Do you mind, Granger? I'm trying to get my drink. If you're falling asleep, why don't you just go to your room?"
Hermione opened her eyes and saw Draco staring at her. "Well, maybe if you would have asked nicely, I would have moved," she retorted before stepping aside and letting him get a drink.
Draco snorted and stepped closer to her. "Since when have I ever been nice to you?" he whispered in her ear. Draco stepped back to look at her reaction. His heart broke when he aw the hurt look on her face.
"Excuse me," he muttered before walking away. He hadn't expected that reaction. It was strange to admit this, but he was hoping to get a slap.
"I shouldn't have said that," he whispered to himself.
Hermione swallowed the huge lump in her throat. "I hate him," she said quietly. "I hate him so much."
"Don't hate me, Hermione. I just want to dance with you," said a strong, yet soft voice. Hermione smiled and turned to look at Mike.
"Shut up, Mike. I don't hate you. So, want to dance?" she said before taking Mike over to the dancefloor, unaware of a certain blond staring at them.
When "I'll Be" finished, a tall, slim guy walked voer to the DJ and took out a microphone. "All right, everyone! Before we put another hip song up, I would like for the girls to go to the right side of the ship -my right- and the guys go to the left side of the ship," he said loudly.
The crowd split up and the girls went to the right side of the ship; boys to the left. Once everyone was where they were supposed to be, the guy gave out the next instruction.
"We're going to have a competition. Male versus Female. I'll come to you and pick your partner for you. Now, the first couple to dance is..."
The guy walked over to the crowd and scanned the girls' area. He spotted Hermione and took her hand. "Stand in the middle, sweetheart," he said as he gave Hermione a light push. Hermione, with trembling feet, walked over to the middle.
They guy walked over to the guys' area and began to scan. He spotted Draco (A/N: What a coincidence, huh?) and brought him to the center. "You two are a good couple," he said to Draco and Hermione.
"Now, let the competition begin. Remember, slow song or fast song, you two have to dance it," said the guy before going back to the DJ.
Draco and Hermione stared at each other.
"This is such a lovely coincidence, don't you agree, Granger?" said Draco coldly. Hermione didn't answer but continued to stare at him.
Just as the guy was about to put a cd on, the DJ made a weird, popping noise and died out. Everyone began to boo and complain, but just two stood still.
Draco and Hermione continued to stare at each other, each wearing a smirk on their faces.
A/N: Why those smirks, do you ask? LOL!!! If you guess why they smirked at each other, I'll dedicate the next chappie to the lucky winner.
LOL!!! Until the next chappie, my wonderful readers. Luv ya all!!!!!! ~Pixiegirl
