Review #1, by dude An excess of 'Marius'

16th November 2015:
Fascinating take on the development of the relationship between Lilly and James. I can't say I've ever seen quite this take on it before, but it works swimmingly. Also quite a different take on Lilly. Usually she is the hyper-achiever, not the struggling student, and yet you made it believable. Well done.
I think I see foreshadowing of Lilly's mom developing cancer and it being a shock to Lilly, who had started smoking. I'm hoping that you will use it as a motivation for her to actually quit smoking and James to also quit so that he doesn't remind her of what is happening to her mother.
I was a bit disappointed in seeing James introducing Lilly to "weed". I know he was a bit of a scoundrel, but one thing I've see over and over again personally is how it saps people of ambition. I have a hard time imagining James being both an over-achiever and smoking much weed.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review! Some pretty accurate comments... not wanting to give away spoilers though.

I don't think James was much of a weed smoker. He says himself in the chapter that they mainly kept it for Remus after the full moon, to relax him and help with the pain (medical marijuana is used for this). I also thought it was pretty fitting for the time period- it is supposed to be the 70's after all! Still, it definitely isn't going to be making lots of appearances in the story, it was just a one off thing,
Overall, thanks for your comments! Hope you continue enjoying the story!

Review #2, by kitcath An excess of 'Marius'

Eeep, I love your story! I'm a sucker for diary-format stories, because it enables so many writing styles ^^ I love what you did here with a brutal, sometimes vague narrative, like sometimes she just doesn't care.
It's also a very uncommon depiction of Lily, smoking and rebelling against the world... kidding. But I do love the fact that she always seem so detached from the rest of the world... Like how she hadn't realised that there really was a war. I'm curious to start reading about Snape and the troubles at school! :)
The idea of describing James and Sirius as a 'co-dependant married couple' is so accurate! It made me laugh way more than I should have. Plus, most of the time in Jily stories, it's the opposite - Sirius getting jealous because of Lily. So it's refreshing to read it that way!
And I really like the plot twist with Joseph Levy, because it made Dumbledore's choice to make James Head Boy more believable somehow, and it explains Lily's reaction better, I think.

All in all, good work! Keep it up, I really like this story and I'd like to see where it goes ;)

Author's Response: Thank you for such a nice review! Also, thank you SO much for the banner! :) (assuming your username is not just a total coincidence, ha ha)

This is a really interesting take on Lily. In most of the fics I read she's some sort of perfect princess. Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing! I was getting a little bored of the same old Lily in all the Marauders-era stories, so decided to give it a shot with a little different characterisation. Glad you liked it!

A really funny and good story so far! An original and interesting interpretation of the character of Lily Evans, which is nice to see- she can be a bit same-y. Keep up the good work! :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much- first review! :)
