Review:MissMdsty says:
Snape as a child breaks my heart! You can see how Lily's youthful and care free attitude has such an impact on the boy that comes from a broken home where the parents don't even care to celebrate Christmas. Something about the light around her may have pushed him to seek it in himself.

The fact that Lily thought to give him a gift is proof that her kind and accepting nature was something she nurtured even as a child. The ending just broke my heart. It's so fitting that the book she gave him as children could hold so much meaning in their adult life. "Pride and Prejudice". I can think of all sorts of parallels, like Severus' pride in the path he choose and the prejudice they held for Lily's kind and how in the end it all blew up in his face. Beautiful!

The writing was impeccable, as usual and your style is very good! I can't find anything to comment about style-wise! Good job!

Author's Response: Oh, thank you for reviewing this for me! This story hasn't seen a new reviewer in ages. I'm so happy you enjoyed it -- it was my first attempt at Snape/Lily, and I've got a fond place in my heart for it. :)

I love your analysis of Lily's impact on Snape, and I do think that without her, he would have been a much darker person. He wanted to find the good in himself because of her, to be more like her, and even though it didn't work in the end as far as his getting her for his own, it altered his character dramatically.

I never thought of "Pride and Prejudice" that way before! I knew Hannah (who I wrote the story for) liked Jane Austen, so I put that in there, but wow. ♥ I think if she had given him a book, too, he would have kept it forever. Although somehow imagining Snape reading "Pride and Prejudice" is a bit... well.

Thank you again for taking the time to review this for me! It really does mean a lot to me that you took the time to do so, and I really hope to see you back soon. You're awesome!!
