You write beautifully.

So many shivers! At first I thought we're actually back in the day of when Bloody Baron was alive and then when I realized it was present day, and the Baron was looking into the mirror as a ghost, it was all the more intriguing and better. I'm glad I started reading this, as it will give me new perspective on a story that I always thought twisted and a little creepy. Something about the way he saw Helena in that mirror, her beauty and some of her ugliness...it really drew me in. It was like breathless reading, and I love when that happens. Also, the little details reminding us of how dead and ghost-like this person is added a nice spooky touch. I really liked the line, The bloodstains were deceivingly fresh.

The sadness of this piece overwhelms me, and like I said, only with these few words you're making me believe there was something grand about this love story.

A great beginning that really pulls the reader in. Just wow.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you! That means a lot to me!

It's so great to hear that you liked my description and the way I set the scene so that things still felt fresh even if they were actually quite old. I'm glad you have a renewed interest in the story of the Baron and Helena. I've really fallen in love, in a weird way, with their story as I've been writing it. I find myself wanting to know more and more about each of them, what brought them together, and what drove them apart. I hope that my excitement comes through to readers as I explore this story along with you.

It's lovely that the beginning drew you in. I worried a little about that initially, given that there is plenty of description and not much action. I'm happy that you read on, though!

Thank you for your kind review :)

Amanda
