Well, this is fantastic.

I've never read a Helena/Baron before, and I'm not sure if I could write one, but you've managed to begin one brilliantly. In fact, this could have been a one-shot all on its own, it would have been brilliant anyway.

Weirdly enough, I really like the lack of violence associated with the Bloody Baron here; you've managed to make him really sympathetic, not mentioning the blood itself until near the end, and while that's probably not how I would have done it - you've read my stuff, you know how I like my love stories obsessive and a bit twisted - I like this guy. Even though we already know he's lead to the death of Helena (I can't remember if he actually killed her or not) and killed himself.

Helena is perfectly in character - well, the little of the character we see in canon - as the spoilt yet invisibly trapped girl. His perception of her is perfectly believable and realistic.

Your use of descriptive language is detailed without being too heavy, and, yeah, I've got no critique for this.

Anyway, sorry for this rather unhelpful review, and good luck with writing this. :)

I do think this could have been a one-shot, but I'm pleased to hear that it also worked as a story's beginning.

Haha, I do know how you like your love stories! I did try to make the Baron likeable here, in that I left his identity a little bit murky until the end of the chapter and I tried to focus on what he had lost to time. Of course, we know that much of what he lost is due to his own mistakes and regrets.

I'm glad you found Helena believable and realistic. She's been hard to figure out, as has the Baron, but I'm enjoying molding her into a bit of a princess figure with a twist or two. It'll be neat to see where they've both come when I finally finish this story (I will someday!).
