This was a great take on one of the Peverell brothers! The colloquial language in which you wrote added originality to it, although I have to admit it was difficult to follow in the beginning; I had to get used to it first. But the same thing happened when I read Great Expectation, and that book is pure brilliance. So don't sweat that too much. :) I do have one big concern, however: who is "you"? Is the reader supposed to be Death? Or just a random bystander that "I" is telling the tale to? I'm having a bit of trouble figuring that out. But other than that, excellent story. It's a nice break from all the romance, humor stories I tend to read on this site. :)

Author's Response: thank you so much for your compliments! it's really something to be compared to dickens :) but i understand it's being difficult to get into, i meant it to be sort of otherworldly.
the "you" is, in fact, antioch peverell. the story is told from ignotus's point of view, and he's telling his deceased brother about the death of their other brother. sort of useless pronoun confusion, i know, i just liked the eerie tone :)
