We have had several emails about continuing issues on the mature stories page. We have checked this page several times and have run various virus and malware checkers on our server and it is fine.
There are several types of virus or malware that can be picked up from a site and not have an effect until several days or months later, showing up on a site which is in fact clean.
If you think you may have a virus there are various tools online, including free software that will help you to find out if your system is indeed infected.

Several months ago, the HPFF forums were subject to what amounted to an unauthorised hacking attack by an ex staff member. The forums were taken offline while we tried to close down the route taken to gain access and to check that any further attempts at unauthorised access could not take place.
Unfortunately after several weeks going over the software and database, HPFF was unable to confirm that there were not any backdoors which this unscrupulous individual or their companions could use for unauthorised access. While we take our software security seriously, we also treat our members security with the highest regard. It was felt that we could not in all honesty say that there would not be a further attack, compromising the software and more importantly our members information.
As such and to protect our members, it is with regret that we have had to remove the forum software from our servers. HPFF has no plans to replace the forums. While we are aware that this may not be ideal for some people, we hope you appreciate that our members security is of the utmost importance and that this situation was forced upon us. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Several members have reported that while reading chapters, a file gets downloaded to their device. They are of course obviously worried that this may be a virus.
This is in fact caused by the ad company that we use on our mature stories page. They are having an issue with their servers which means that a piece of code which should be sent to the server is being sent to users instead. As far as I\'m aware, this should not cause an issue. Browsers do not execute PHP script, so if this is in fact a malicious file, it will not be opened. As a precautionary issue we have removed the affected ads for now.
This is an outside issue and not an issue with HPFF servers, which are regularly checked for virus and trojan scripts.
While I can confirm tha tthis is not a virus on our server, you should of course always use a virus software when using the internet and be aware of your online safety.

HPFF validators and archive admins are always on the look out for new Trusted Authors, but just in case we’ve missed someone, we are opening up applications for new Trusted Authors. If you meet the following criteria and wish to submit yourself for possible TA status, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a link to your author page and the email address that is associated with your account (if it differs from the one you used to send the email). Applications will be open until July 26th. Please keep in mind that TA status is a privilege that can be removed at any time if an author is found to have broken site rules and/or the terms of service. You must meet this criteria to be considered: -Have been an archive member for at least six months (join date prior to January 12th, 2016). -Have at least ten validated chapters. -Your past five chapters must not have had a rejection, for any reason other than formatting. -No prior suspensions. Please note that the above is no guarantee of TA status. Staff reserve the right to deny TA status. If you receive TA status, you will be notified. If you do not receive TA status, you will not be notified. If you do not receive TA status, we encourage you to keep submitting chapters consistently and reapply next time. If you have any questions, please email Gryffin_Duck at the above email address.

We at HPFF could not be more excited for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! Being that our users are from all over the world and will be reading/watching Cursed Child in a variety of ways (and at a variety of times), we are asking authors to please use the "contains spoilers" warning for any and all stories and chapters that contain spoilers for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. We have also added a new era called "Cursed Child" to be used for stories that are based off that part of canon. This is different from the "Next Generation" era which is generally used for stories that take place after Deathly Hallows canon. While we won't reject your stories for not using the spoiler warning or the Cursed Child era, we hope you will respect your readers' wishes not to be spoiled before they've watched/read Cursed Child. In the words of J.K. Rowling, keep the secret and don't be a Wormtail!

Thanks to those of you who donated to our March fundraiser, HPFF's immediate future is secure. While we didn't raise the target amount needed to keep us online for the next year, the funds raised will allow us to cover our overheads for the next 6-8 months approximately.

We recently added a new section to our forums for authors to post character bios for their original characters and minor canon characters, as well as head canons for major canon characters. It is located in the Flourish and Blotts section of the forums, under the Hall of Prophecy. Please remember to read the rules thread before posting. If you aren't already a member of our forums, now is a great time to join! We hope you enjoy reading about all the fantastic characters our authors have come up with.
